Loved the food and service here. Ordered the roast duck with sweet chili sauce and love it. The deep fried striped bass is also great and very crispy. Before attending one of the local gallery receptions, my best friend and I decided to visit this wonderful little Thai restaurant just off the main strip of Nyack. Situated in what appears to be a rail car, this second trip here for me was a very nice experience. The decor is ethnic in nature with hand carvings of the many characters of the region. Very warm and having visited early in the evening, had the place to ourselves. My buddy had a mildly spiced soup that was bright and full of colorful ingredients. He was very pleased. We both chose to have a chicken and shrimp dish over clear noodles. Very fresh and lively vegetables. Hint: if you're with an adventurous eating friend, order different dishes to increase your sampling of the menu. If you're wary of spice, there are many choices for the faint of heart. Any chili icon on the menu can be tweeked from mild to "ouch" (my words). I had a simple warm saki to accompany and a beautiful, attentive hostess/server sealed the deal. If I could give a zero I would. The only thing interesting about this place is the decor. The food was absolutely awful and the service just about as bad. The duck was like jerky. So overcooked we could barely choke it down. And the Pork Smile? Frowns as soon as it arrived. Dry, inedible half inch slices of leather. Where were the spices? How about the delicious sounding Thai Tamarind sauce? Forget the coconut soup, forget the Tom Yum, and forget the Thai Salad. All of them a zero. This is by far the best Thai restaurant in Rockland, and I dare say it's awesome even by NYC standards, and I've tried quite a few. Their iced tea is delicious. I seriously don't understand how some people rated one star, granted I have never tried to get take-out from this place, I always dine in, I love their decor and the fact that it's a transformed train car. This is literally my first review simply because of my utter disappointment. Based on the majority, I am a minority here. Perhaps it caught them on an off night. Perhaps there's a newbie getting oriented in the back. Perhaps I called too late (1.5 hours prior to close). Who knows, but here's how things went down tonight. I also eat thai food a lot, as it is my favorite type of food, second only to Vietnamese. Warning signs: "Magnificent" painted on sign in front of sign. (Doesn't it go without saying that the consumers of the cuisine should be the judges of the culinary outputs? ) Order: 1 Pad Kee Mao (a VERY routine, dish. kinda like the pepperoni pizza of thai food) 1 Tom Yum Soup with tofu. Special request: "Make it very very spicy please" Price: 21 dollars.... (This is a bit much IMO. To be fair, I'm also a broke millennial who likes to eat out but I'm okay with that and have no qualms if its delicious! this was far from it. Maybe im exaggerating but I literally feel irresponsible after unwrapping my 'takeout' present, violated) Food: 1) Portions are small relative to the price. Throw in like 4oz of more noodle? Seriously. Meat included is decent at least. Veggies minimal. Either that or have two sizes of which one can choose from. Uncool. 2) Spicy? Yeah right. More like "smother it in a massive amount of pepper sauce. That's literally all that happened. No extra chiles or lime or really anything that scaled proportionally in terms of flavor and spicy. Maintaining flavor with escalating spice is an art... and this was a finger painting and the 'artist' didn't wash their hands when changing colors. Now for the real slap in the face. The SAME effing pepper sauce was dumped in the soup to make it more 'spicy' to the point where it out powered the lemongrass/lime flavor. Oh yeah, the pepper sauce isn't even spicy dude... my apathetic 'sigh' turned into a spiteful 'smh' fistclench (hence why I am articulating this to randos on the internet) So there you have it folks. Maybe its the best in 'rockland' but who cares because we live on the border of NJ. and If you go a little bit south on 303.. you'll find two MUCH MUCH better establishments. Just my two cents from a limited sample size. I bet some of their more speciality dishes are a delight, but (back to pizzeria analogy) even though your speciality pie is good, you should still dish up a solid cheese slice. To quote ESPN... Do not go if you are in a rush!!! 3 couples went to dinner before an 8:00 show at the theater next door. WE gave our selves 1 1/2 hrs to eat. WE ordered within fifteen minutes of sitting down when the restaurant was still pretty empty. We got our appetizers in a timely fashion but the entree was a different story. We started asking the waitress where our food was after sitting for an hour. She kept telling us it was coming out next but we saw them brining food to tables that came in after us. By 7:40, they started bringing out our food but by then we had to leave. MOst in ours party gobbled down their food, i cancelled my order. The food was amazing here. I didn't think I would be a fan of the peanut butter chicken but it was damn good. Food comes pretty quickly too so it feels kind of rushed. Portions are a pretty good size. The service was semi-rude when we first arrived but the woman later apologized for the confusion of seating us. I would definitely return here. read more

The food is barely edible and outrageously over priced. I ordered the KAI YANG 14.95 - Marinated boneless chicken breast in spices and Thai herbs.Bar-B-Q and served with sweet red and garlic sauce. Sounds delicious right? All I got was 2 small chicken breast with grill marks on them - the kind you get from costco and then heat up by putting them in the microwave. It was covered in a sweet coating. The 2 pieces of chicken were resting on a dish of mixed vegetables and a side of what I can only describe as duck sauce. My companion got veggie green curry. It was steamed veggies in a weak coconut curry sauce with chunks of sour tofu. Come on really how can you serve over ripe tofu. For the non-asians... if your tofu is a little too solid or tastes sour, then the tofu is not fresh. Plus the Thai Ice Tea was weakest I was served in a restaurant. Not coming back here again. What a great little restaurant... The best Panang curry. Awesome "dive" atmosphere with trinkets and wall hangings... even the silverware had buddhas and shivas on them! Attentive staff, the food was fabulous, fresh and delicious... they cook to preferred taste... end it all with 2 scoops of the best coconut ice cream. A real authentic treat in a very interesting setting! In addition to the food not only being delicious, having an entire section of the menu devoted to vegetarians and also very ascetically pleasing; it is beautifully decorated and is definitely a sight to see!
