Bangor Beer Co. in Bangor, ME for a few pints & some easy eats for the last of four breweries on our trip in & around the city. Another new brewery for me, I was barely familiar with the brand other than enjoying the DISCO SASQUATCH DIPA in can back in mid 2025. These guys were established in late 2017 & will be celebrating ten years next year in 2027. This area is beyond flooded with taverns, restaurants & a good amount of breweries, but with a name like Bangor Beer Co. it felt appropriate to check it out while staying in the city. The brewery is attached to the Oriental Jade restaurant which also doubles as a kitchen for the brewery with a mix of American & Asian/Chinese food. A good amount of different styles represented on the menu with a emphasis on various IPA's, some lighter beers like a Kolsch, Lager, Gose, Cream Ale, Seltzer & more. Let's check out the three pints I scooped & get into the beer a little more here. I started off with a pint of the BRITE Lager, a excellent light bodied Helles that brought just the right balance of malts & hops. This was a great crisp & smooth starter with a subtle sweet honey finish. I then grabbed a 10oz pour of the HABITAP Kolsch, it was another solid light offering with a malty, bready & sweet flavor. Even at a light 4.5%ABV it still had a good amount of layers & was something you could crush a few of for sure. I finished with a pint of the delicious JURI IPA, this was a super hazy New England IPA that brought the juice at a perfect 7.3%ABV. Theres some guava & passionfruit gimmicks here with a ton of tropical flavor that easily made this my favorite beer of the visit. We ordered the Totchos, which if you have followed my pages you know I'm a tot slut. These were as good as expected with cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, avocado & savory sauce. Then came the Bao Buns with Pork Belly which changed the game. There was a lot of food stuffed in the buns with the pork belly, pickled vegetables, hoisin & cherry chili sauce to finish it off. I left devastatingly stuffed along with the beers & couldn't have put anything else in my body if I tried. All your usual seating options here including tables, hightops & bar with a patio area outside. Plenty of beer to go for home or tastings with friends later. Great spot & definitely BEERGASM worthy with those light beers & dank IPA standing out. Cheers! read more

I really dig Bangor Beer. They're not located in "downtown" Bangor but just a few minutes out near the big box shopping area. Let me tell you, there is nothing "big box" about this place. It's quirky and fun. Outside is a garden area for nicer weather and I believe they have live music at times as well. Graffiti-style murals including Rick & Morty (can't find my exterior pics anywhere) and other fun stuff. They even had a bouncy house when we were there. And yep, we bounced around like kids. The interior of the brewery is also pretty quirky, chill, and fun. The employees and clientele are super cool & welcoming. They have a decent food menu that includes stuff from Oriental Jade (Asian restaurant that served Chinese and Japanese food). Oriental Jade had been around for decades. If you're a Stephen King fan, you know all about it. Their food is yum. Anyway, Bangor Beer has a lot of other offerings like fish & chips, burgers, typical fare that tastes anything but typical. The drinks: Yes they're a craft brewery and they also offer cocktails and mocktails. I've only had beer (did try the NA beer that had & it was good). Their pours are of the highest caliber. The taproom has 12-13 different beers on draft at any given time. And of course, beers to go (cans). Draft beers in growlers too. Oddball is probably my favorite. It's an oat stout that sits just right on the tastebuds. The 10-12 is a great IPA with just the right amount of hops. Total A+ spot. read more

Love this place. Staff are engaging and quick with the witty responses, there's always something entertaining on the TVs, not sure why, but marble races are my favorite, a great variety of beer and games, but don't sleep on the food. Guilty pleasure are the Mac n Cheese bites, and their curry noodles are so very tasty. Always something new to see or taste, 12/10 will continue to do it again. read more

It was definitely a trip for us to make it here! We were a long way from home. First off, it was interesting to see a brewery connected to a Chinese restaurant. We had a couple of beers (which were delicious). The wandering fruit was my favorite. Sours for the win! The brewery section is pretty large. There's a bar, drinking area, pinball games, and then adjacent is another room. You can go through a side door that takes you to the Chinese restaurant (which we also tried, but I recommend just the brewery). Staff is friendly, beer is good, and the pinball games add an interactive component. One of the last breweries we visited, and we ended on a high note. read more

My husband and I stopped in on a Wednesday night for a light dinner and drinks. The atmosphere is pretty cool, very laid back. Service wasn't bad. My beer was tasty but the food was just average. We got the Fish and Chips and the Bang Bang Cauliflower. While the Fish and Chips entree was super large, the fish was VERY breaded. I could barely find the fish in there (see photos). It was more like a giant hush puppy. The Bang Bang Cauliflower was pretty good. Overall, nothing was terrible, it just wasn't great/what I would expect at a brewery. read more

Excellent place! The service was nice and memorable, we had a very good waiter who was personable and attentive! The location/ambiance was lovely! Especially outside during the evening, it was beautiful and unique! Now the food. So I will admit I was extremely hesitant when I saw it was next to a mall. Once we got inside, took a look around and saw the pinball machines and little random pieces of art everywhere -- our minds were put at ease. Their beer was pretty solid. Some weirder options, but your traditional styles were there too. The beer tenders were SO friendly and accommodating. They're attached to a Chinese restaurant (which had amazing General Tso tofu) and when I asked about their merch, the woman serving our beer actually walked me right to where their stuff was inside the restaurant so I wouldn't get lost. Got a super cute (and warm) flannel button down, because when in Maine... Overall, I was kind of taken aback by how wonderful everything was compared to the vast majority of brewery experiences I've had since moving to Jersey. I would absolutely come here again. read more

My wife and I stopped by the Bangor Beer Company with our family and we both were quite impressed. The waiters were super friendly and offered us with all the current beer choices. I decided to try the Wandering Fruit beer which had a shuttle sour taste . I was quite surprised that it only had a 5.4% alcohol. Today's flavor was key lime. We were able to sit at a large table and played several rounds of Rummy. Now, when visiting Bangor Maine and want to try some impressive beers be sure to stop by The Beer Company. read more

I found BBC while searching for places to eat in Bangor on Tik Tok, and I am SO GLAD someone did a review on their ramen. I went by myself on a Monday and went back EVERY SINGLE DAY of that week with my coworkers. The beer flight for $8.50 was my favorite part & I adored the Oddball! The pork belly bao bun is to die for. The bang bang sushi roll was perfection. And the poke salad was just as yummy. Also they have Trivia Tuesdays, which was super fun! & The staff are so kind and all have great personalities. Glad to know I have a MUST GO TO spot if I'm ever back in the area. Very cool interior and exterior to this brewery which is in a very odd location. Tucked away behind Oriental Jade and the cinema, this brewery venue is working on some good stuff. I loved the throwback arcade games, the interesting seating arrangements and the mix of pub food and Chinese/Japanese fair. The Gose I tried was delicious. My wife said he nitro stout was delicious as well. They also have beers from other places around the state and a full liquor license to try out a cocktail. I found that the place shares a kitchen with Oriental Jade, hence the fusion menu. I had the BBG burger plate. Unfortunately my burger was WAY over cooked, so much that my Ohio parents who like everything dry and well done would have been proud. My wife had a Poke roll, which we get often at a poke restaurant near home. We are both used to the roll being at least twice the size of a regular sushi roll, this was not. It was just the size of a roll. We also had a few other dishes shared, like the tachos (tater tot nachos) which could have used more salsa or cheese smeared over top, and the fried chicken bao, which was tasty. The highlight of our meal was by for the bang bang cauliflower. It was perfectly fried with a lovey presentation, so much so we forget to take a picture! A must have if you venture here. I would come back with the kids on a summer night to play in the yard, where there is a jungle gym, lawn games, and grass. Hopefully they perfect their pub food upon my return. read more

Bangor Beer Company was great. The atmosphere at the outdoor tables was fun and the food was tasty. Our servers were really helpful and patient and even took family photos of us. It was my husbands birthday and the kids were flying in from around the country for a trip to Acadia. We were just looking for a place where my husband could have a beer while I picked people up from the airport, but we discovered an unexpected gem. Really like this new brewery in Bangor. Very trendy tasting room. It's rare for me to order a flight( although it was only 4 beers) to enjoy every beer. Being an IPA drinker I think the best beer is Brite (Helles). The tasting room is located in the back of long time Bangor staple Asian restaurant. But it doesn't feel like it is attached to another location. They offer there own Asian themed pub fair and you can order anything from The Oriental Jade. I feel like this might be the much needed new "Go to" place that my wife and I have been searching for. read more

We went here as it came highly recommended. I love IPAs so I ordered two of their different IPAs. Both felt like they were watered down. Ordered Bang Bang Cauliflower and the sauce was nothing but sweet. I am not sure how they can call it spicy. Also, ordered their chicken wings and left after taking one bite. I am so glad I found this brewery. No I'm serious it's really hard to find but worth it. I went into try the beer. I described to the bartender what I liked and she brought me three samples. I chose the "Derailed". But all three were delicious. Didn't plan on it, but I decided I should get something to eat. After a great food discussion with the bartender, I chose the bang bang cauliflower. It was incredibly delicious. All staff members were wonderful. The music was appropriate and very good. There was also a football game on which was enjoyable. Quite a few patrons, but you could still talk. Which I liked. Look forward to going back. read more

We were looking for a place to eat for dinner near the ghost town known as the Bangor Mall when we noticed the sign for Bangor Beer Company and Restaurant right below the Oriental Jade Chinese Restaurant sign (apparently owned by the same people). The entrance is in back parking lot of the Jade. The dining room is a interesting hodge podge of Record album covers, arcade games and Star Wars and sports memorabilia. They also have outdoor seating which looks like its enjoyable when its not below freezing temperatures. The menu is small and its not just a coincidence that it has a heavy Chinese Asian influence (it does also have a few more traditional burgers on the menu and a few oddly Mexican choices) With the food is a good sized craft beer menu from which i had a good but not great IPA. For dinner we went with a Bang Bang Cauliflower appetizer, the BBC signature burger and Pork Belly Fried Rice. The Cauliflower was exceptional and one of the best Chinese dishes i have had in sometime. The batter was super crispy and the red glaze a perfect sticky combination of sweet sour and spicy. Toss in the crunchy nutty sesame seeds on top and it was the perfect appetizer treat. The Pork Belly fried rice was also delicious. It was lighter tasting then most area Chinese food rice. Not a strangely dark brown color and not saturated with Soy as most are. It also had the unique addition of sweet pickles in it which i would never thought of being good but most certainly was. Lastly was my wife's Burger( served sans bun by request). This dish oddly with no explanation came out about ten minutes after everything else but was cooked as ordered. Well done but yet still juicy, topped with sharp local cheese and a bbq mayo with fries on the side. The burger and fries were very good but by the time they arrived my wife had already filled up on Cauliflower and Rice so we ended up taking 90% of it home in a box. I really enjoyed the food here and would consider this a hidden gem in the Bangor area. I only knocked it down 1 star for the burger arriving late. I will definitely put this on my list of Bangor choices for future visits. read more

Decided to come to Bangor areas newer breweries, Bangor beer co. I came here once before but they did not have their own beer on tap yet. Now they have 5 brews on tap and a bunch of guest taps. Decided to have a flight of four 5oz beers. A east coast ipa, west coast ipa, stout, and another ipa. TheCatchphrase, a east coast ipa, had some flavor but felt underwhelming in terms of hops or carbonation. Almost had a a flat beer texture. The 10-2 was more balanced and had a more enjoyable hoppiness to it. Overall I was unfortunately disappointed but hope they can adjust there recipes and i will try again in the future. read more

One of my new favorite places in town for sure! A great variety of beers (especially appreciated the stouts and the gose.) The bang bang cauliflower was incredible, the fried Mac and cheese was to die for, and I can't wait to keep on coming back here to try everything else, as the menu has a wide selection of highly enticing options. The ambience was laid back and perfect for my large early evening gathering, but I'm sure it gets a little louder/more fun with table top shuffleboard, etc. later on in the evenings. read more

This place is owned and operated by the successful Oriental Jade restaurant to which it is beside. They have a large, awesome outdoor area (between the indoor area and brewing space) with different types of seating and fireplaces and heating elements and where they sometimes have live music or a DJ. The food menu here definitely has an Asian flare (surprise surprise) and is not to be missed (ramen, sushi, buns). If you really wanted, I think you can even order off the Oriental Jade menu, or at least some of it. The beers cover a wide variety and are well-made and tasty. They do have a few guest taps (Oxbow, etc.) and also other types of beverages (cider, kombucha, etc.). This place is amazing. read more

Tucked behind Oriental Jade, this brewery brought a Brite* spot to our Bangor visit amid COVID-related restrictions and concerns. [*Brite: da-da-dum shiiish! Couldn't help myself.] Very much UNliike its ordinary surroundings - what appeared to be a shopping strip/area - BBC included the extraordinary Tim and liquid offerings. My friends and I were delighted to find the brewery connected to a restaurant, allowing it to not only be open but to be offering a variety of delicious fare in addition to its brews made on site. I enjoyed the Brite - hence my horrible pun previously in this post - and was tempted mightily by the porter. Only didn't go for the porter due to my leanings of the evening, not because of the porter itself. Tim was an excellent, knowledgeable, approachable and gracious host. Rare to find at times! Art by @jodirenshaw was a complete bonus. Primo all the way, all the details: beer, people, humor, art, atmosphere. Like spicy? Go with Oriental Jade's Pork Ramen. The menu sounded, was read as great but, the execution was poor. Ramen tasted like boxed chicken broth with top ramen noodles. The sushi burrito was boring and came out wrapped in checkered wax paper. The chicken sandwich was lackluster. I give it two stars because the beers are worth a trip there and the service was okay. read more
