My daughter is hooked. We went to Panda Express on Dinuba Blvd to get her something to eat. I made the suggestion of Banh-Tastic instead and she jumped at the chance. Literally! I've had Banh mi sandwiches from Authentic Vietnamese Restaurants and I wasn't impressed with Banh Tastic. First, they used what looks like a thick hoagie roll. The one I had used look similar but smaller with less dough, so they were able use the whole bread. Banh tastic , at least the 2 that I had , only cut the dough halfway thru the bread so use a lot less stuff inside. You're eating mostly bread. I drove from Hanford to Visalia for these sandwitches and am very disappointed. Also, my total came to $20.07. I gave the cashier $21, and without saying anything , kept the rest of the change. It's not the money. It's the principal of it. It's rude to automatically keep the change without even asking. I won't be returning. read more

I've been waiting for a banh mi shop to open in Visalia and it finally happened with Banh-tastic. I ordered four banh mi. The bread is not an authentic French baguette, which made the bread kinda soggy since I took it to-go. The pork had a bitter aftertaste that I can't describe, maybe it was the chicken pate?! The pickled carrots did not have the pickled taste that they should have. Since they just opened, they didn't have Vietnamese crepes. My daughter had their beef salad (vermicelli bowl) which she didn't even finish. She prefers homemade. Willing to go back to try their Vietnamese crepes and drinks. read more

Not a true banh mi sandwich. I'm from LA/OC, so I was excited that we could get a banh mi sandwich up here in the valley. BUT... the bread isn't correct. If you're familiar with Lee's sandwiches or the sandwiches you get at Little Saigon, it's on a crusty baguette. The one you get at Banh Tastic is soft and gas too much breading. The pate smells funky... almost fishy. My hands and breath smells fishy, after eating. My husband ordered the grilled pork sandwich and it doesn't taste like anything. To have a place like this in Visalia is so rare because there aren't a lot of Asian restaurants that serve Banh mis. Now I don't have to drive to Fresno for this! Anyway,I ordered Kao Soy, Shrimp Springrolls, and traditional Banh Mi. I loved it all. The spring rolls were freshly made. Make sure to get the peanut sauce because it's such a great combo. Kao Soy was on point in terms of flavor. The soup was super hot, so be cautious when carrying to go. Will be ordering my Kao Soy here from now on. And lastly the Banh Mi was perfect. I've had Banh Mis from chains like Lee's Coffee in OC and other small mom and pop shops in San Jose and Fresno and would have to say Banh-tastic is just as good. The bread is too soft, more like a bolillo. We were wanting that crunch of a baguette. We tried the pork and beef banh mi and while the beef had a good flavor, the pork was odd. I have been so excited for this banh mi shop to be opening up. I ordered their traditional banh-mi with char siu, liver pate, and head cheese. It was packed full of traditional ingredients and flavors. Their spicy mayo was creamy and delicious their vegetables were fresh and crisp. The sandwich had all the things I love in a traditional banh mi. The only critique I would give is the bread. It is delicious don't get me wrong but, I was anticipating the crispy glass like outer texture and chewy center of a traditional French/Vietnamese banh mi. Over all I will be going back to try their other items. It is delicious!! I recommend to all looking to try out Banh-Tastic!! Update had the Banh-Xeo for lunch. Never had Banh-Xeo before and it was a good change up from the normal lunch routine. The crepe was delicate and delicious the chili vinegar was spicy, sweet & sour. What can I say!!! Please save your money and believe me when I say this place will close with in 2 years. Our bowls of Phó were lukewarm, we had to asked the lady to put in the microwave. I asked for pork belly, not what I expecting, I was excited to eat some nice chrunchy pork belly, but nope some soft over rice meat. I love finding new places to get pho but I will not be coming back to this place for chicken pho. I understand pho has different types of flavors to the soup but there was 0 flavor in this soup. It was straight chicken broth w cut up ginger or garlic. The sauce included was a small packet of hoisin & sriracha. I'd expect more condiments considering how plain the noodle soup is....but I just want everyone to be aware your noodles come plain in flavor & you are required to acquire your own condiments if you do want flavor. We ordered the traditional cold cut and the grilled beef sandwiches, along with the shrimp banh xeo crepe, and the rainbow chips. I agree with a lot of the other reviews in that the bread is not authentic. It's suppose to be crispy on the outside like a french baguette, but it was soft throughout. The pickled carrots and daikon were lacking a sweet and tart taste. It probably needed to be pickled longer. The meat portions on the cold cut were pretty skimp for a $10 sandwich. As I was biting into the sandwich, honestly, it felt like I was eating a banh mi made with a torta bread. It just felt and tasted off. Besides the disappointing banh mi, their shrimp banh xeo crepe was pretty good. It tasted fresh and authentic. The inside of the store was nice and clean. The cashier was friendly. Overall, my only real complaint was that they used a torta-like bread instead of something like a french baguette for their banh mi sandwiches. read more
