After a bit of investigation it turned out the insulation blower was at fault - a dent in the side was preventing appropriate air flow into the wall cavity. So yes, this have been an inconvenience, and ultimately more holes had to be drilled, so there's more patching to do. Mistakes can and do happen, but Jason and team went the extra mile to ensure the walls are fully insulated, and that's a quality that deserves 5 stars.

Jackson…read morefrom Insulation Commando's responded almost immediately on Sunday and kept in constant communication; within a couple of days he was here to inspect (used a thermal camera as the "attic" was closed and had to enter in a gable, it was clear there was zero insulation; within 4 days they were back out here and insulated out garage; absolutely fantastic communication, cleaned up after themselves and while up there, I was sent photos of the area and no insulation, they sealed off gaps and sprayed in the insulation and provided multiple photos with tape measure to show it was done as promised. I have Jackson coming back for a quote / inspection on our real attic in the second story to receive a quote. Thermo S and another company's estimates came back close but with very different approaches to cooling down a bedroom that was always hot. In the end, we decided Thermo's solution sounded more logical. In the end we went with Thermo S because of Caden's expertise with duct work. He recommended duct sealing and adding an extra vent in addition to insulation. Day of, the team showed up on time, did the work efficiently, and cleaned up their mess. The difference was instant. The air felt cooler coming out of the ducts, the A/C comes on less, the hot bedroom is cooler, and the house is quieter. I do have bad allergies/chemical sensitivities and the duct sealing was rough but after 3-4 days the smell faded and it's been fine. I would say communication with the office could have been better but they always returned calls the same day. All and all a very positive experience--I would highly recommend Thermo-S.

After reading online reviews we selected four highly rated companies here in the East Valley and received bids from each one for the desired work we wanted done. After inspecting our attic, he presented us with digital photos of the current insulation as well as one showing the temperature reading of 150F! Jim explained what his company could achieve for us with their work which would also include the installation of solar powered attic fan with additional ventilation of three O'Higgins roof vents as well as the filling in all the nooks and crannies that were totally bare, no insulation at all. This was important to us as we didn't realize there were sections that lacked insulation, thus leading to higher utilities bills and made our AC unit work harder than it needed to. This critical fact wasn't pointed out by the other 3 competing vendors. We made the decision to go with Koala Insulation based on the very detailed information Jim had provided us. Kevin, a tech from Koala Insulation arrived to work on the first part of the job of installing the solar attic fan and O'Higgins vents. He was very pleasant to talk to and worked tirelessly installing the four parts of the system on our roof. Upon finishing the components, Kevin discussed what he had done and that everything was ready for the second part of the process (previously scheduled for the following week) the addition of the insulation up to the R38 level. Kevin arrived yesterday and introduced us to the three man crew who would be carrying out the insulation installation. Jim also stopped by to check and see how everything was going. He took a temperature reading which indicated 100F, down 50F prior to the installation of the solar fan and O'Higgins vents! Jim's son Ryan spoke with us at the completion of the installation and carefully explained everything they had done and showed us the before and after photos as well. After the work was completed, we saw that they cleaned up literally everything, not a single piece of insulation was found on our garage floor! Super impressed with Koala Insulation! Their conversation piqued my curiosity for I have been adding improvements to my older house and instead of spending 10-20K on new windows for a small fraction of that cost. So insulating my attic, adding in some attic fans etc could?? make a difference in my R Value and my bill with Salt River Project. They came out and gave me a quote and like most home projects I parked it on the side until I could swing it financially. With the Tax season upon us and the advent of the BBB and some changes I made on my withholding I would be getting money back this year and that became my next egg to move forward on the project so I reached out to Koala and the owner and team came out to re-quote the project. Upon discovery of going through my roof attic they found out even more that I was seriously below the standards of SRP for R Value. With those photos and knowledge we moved ahead with the project absent an attic fan due to overall cost and potential payback. Project day arrived and they were on time ready to work and in fact they were at my home early which was great so the project got rolling.
