I went in for a severe sprained ankle. They recommended a boot after x-rays, etc., as Aetna doesn't cover crutches. Yeah, you read that right. She actually said Aetna doesn't cover crutches. The attending 'doctor' said, "The boot is completely covered." So I took it. Now, a third party is claiming I owe $229. Had I known Banner was giving inaccurate information about no being covered for crutches AND the boot being completely covered, I would have simply left and went to a Goodwill store to purchase a crutch for $15!! Banner - Don't give information to your patients if you don't know what you are talking about!! Aetna DOES cover crutches, and spoiler, they are one hell of a lot cheaper. Do you get kickbacks from Breg for pushing their overpriced boots?!? Looks like you have had MAJOR billing problems recently. read more

Got here they said they are behind with 2 providers been sitting here for over and hour still hasn't called Is back. It's filthy here. The bathroom is absolutely disgusting. How can it be a medical facility and be this unsanitary. I don't expect anything more banner is trash not my choice to be here, brought a friend. The walls are dirty there is trash on the floor. Some of the chairs look like they haven't been wiped down in awhile. Trash on the window sills. Can't show pictures of the lobby because people are here with their kids and I don't post kids. Not urgent care- NO Care Not open during hours posted online or on their front door. Took my son for possible broken finger. Arrived 15-20 min before the supposed closing time (took pics after finding the next place we would try) and doors were locked and no one seemed to be there. We wasted time heading to that location then had to drive much further to go to an ER. Super disappointed though I am seeing in reviews this is an issue. People rely on the information this establishment provides for the care of their children which is already stressful, to have this happen while trying to attend to your child is worse. read more

I have gone to this location a few times and have gotten good care. Well Saturday I took my son for a low grade fever and ear pain. The Dr came in and looked at his ears and told me it's red but not red enough to give him antibiotics and to come back or see his pediatrician if he gets worse. I took Him home and he cried all Night about ear pain. Sure enough 24 hours later he had a 103 fever and a ruptured ear drum. I explained to the Dr that he has had ear issues his whole life and that it turns quickly and she still refuses to treat him. Sadly I won't be returning to this location. read more

We came into Banner Children's Urgent Care because I thought my daughter might have a broken arm. We arrived right when they opened and we're with a provider within 15 minutes. The doctor we saw, Dr Murphy, was really great. She gently examined my daughter and ordered an x-ray. Unfortunately the x-ray machine was down and we had to drive to another location a few blocks away. We didn't have to wait at the other location--we were called right back. That said, we chose this urgent care because they had an x-ray and leaving and coming back meant 4 extra times in and out of a carseat, which was painful for my daughter. Dr. Murphy felt there was a suspected break and the nurse Joseph splinted my daughter's arm. I was given a referral to a specialist group and told to call and make an appointment. We really loved Dr. Murphy and Joseph and felt they were incredibly competent and caring. So why three stars? Because the Banner infrastructure really made follow up care difficult. Our discharge paperwork said we would get the radiology report in our portal. But because the patient was a minor, I had to request portal access--and it took 3 days (and can take 7). This location only sees minors. So it would be great if they just gave you a portal invitation to expedite portal access. When I called to get the radiology report, we spoke to a different provider. She said my daughter's arm was absolutely broken and wanted to confirm I had made the appointment with a specialist--also with Banner. I said I had, but it was a week out and I was told there was nothing sooner. This doctor told me that was too long (Dr. Murphy had said 3-5 days and the appointment we were offered was 7). I asked for help getting an appointment with the Banner specialist and was told she couldn't help, I needed to call my daughter's PCP. So I did. Had to pay for another appointment. And our PCP who is not affiliated with Banner got an appointment 5 days sooner with the same Banner specialist we were initially referred to. This seems absolutely ridiculous to me. If this is a Banner Children's Urgent Care, they should be able to make "stat" appointments with Banner specialist-especially if our PCP who is affiliated with another hospital system can. FYI, the Banner ER can expedite specialist appointments. So, despite the fact that we loved the providers and I think they did a good job stabilizing the fracture, I would not bring my child back to this urgent care if I felt she had a broken bone or if I thought she was likely to need follow up care with a specialist. With the added PCP visit there wasn't a huge financial incentive to avoid the ER. We'll just go there next time. read more

I just came from Banner Urgent Care. I signed up for 1240p online...this morning. When I arrived there....there was a line 4 people ahead of me. It took 20 minutes to sign up people. When it was my turn I asked her if she was going to honor my 1240p online sign on....she said yes. Then I asked her if the wait was 2 hours still....she said yes. I told her I signed on online yet I need to wait 2 hours.....I told I cant wait that long and I left. So everyone BEaware that Banner Urgent Care Childrens does not honor online sign on. Only 3 cuz it seemed slow but seems back office issues helped to create the long wait. Eh, sometimes s*** is out of your control. Saw a nurse practitioner and she was cool. Put my mind at ease and helped calm my stress level that's been haunting me for close to 2 weeks. BP, heart, oxygen level apparently all within reason. Got a dx and was good to go but had to wait for rx. More waiting. Banner, you may not be coming in until the 1st but ya gotta be taking care of business cuz what you're not doing is helping these places to actually run efficiently. So I pull up my Yelp check in bonus and managed to get my scrip for no additional charge. Hey, I didn't want one and tried to see if I could substitute something natural instead of a sulfa drug, but she said not gonna happen. So it was a plus to get my rx for FREE. Thanks for that one Yelp. More waiting -and finally I get to leave like two hours plus after I came in. Five stars for pleasant staff. One star for wait caused by down phones (since yesterday) and printers not syncing or just not working properly. read more

I loaded a hesitant, sick toddler in the car, drove half an hour, arrived when the place opened according to their hours online and on the door, and they never opened. After 20 minutes an employee went in but never came to the front off the building. Edited to add: 20 minutes after the employee arrived (as I'm waiting there) she came up to post a perfectly typed sign that said they were closed today. I would have appreciated had she mentioned that on her way in and not allowed me to wait for 20 more minutes while she typed the sign. That is 20 minutes closer I would have been to the next urgent care with my very sick kid. read more

Had a really good experience here. Staff was attentive and friendly. There was not a crowd when I arrived on a week night at around 6 p.m. Got seen pretty quickly after filling out the same forms I fill out each time. Hate it but necessary. Just hard to do when you're not feeling well. The staff was efficient. Not chatty, but that's ok when you're not feeling great. Had a bit of wheezing and appreciated that the doc paid special attention to that. Had a breathing treatment and felt good a few minutes later I was happy to have gotten some relief. Then, I got a chest X-ray and felt I got an accurate diagnosis. What I like is that there is an onsite pharmacy which saves me a trip to Walgreens when I'm out of sorts. Parking is easy. The facility is clean and convenient. I've been there several times and happy that I got better with some TLC. I would definitely return. read more

Banner Children's Urgent care exceeded my expectations today when I brought my 2-year old daughter in for stomach pain and gastro issues. They listened to everything I shared and my concerns about what was going on, and took them seriously. They listened and asked questions while looking me in the eye, not while actually hurriedly performing an exam unlike other urgent cares or doctors offices. While getting her vitals and during the exam, they were so sweet to my shy little girl, and made her feel at ease. They explained the reason for her stomach pain and gave me specific instructions for at-home follow up care. Another bonus was there was only one child ahead of us, I checked her in and saved a spot before coming and the entire visit took about one hour. The facility was clean and every staff member was kind to myself and daughter. Special shout out to the amazing nurse, Jennifer, for putting my daughter at ease from the start and being gentle and courteous. Dr. Tiffany was equally amazing. There was no rushing, minimal waiting, I felt heard and clearly understand the reason for her sickness, and how to follow up at home. If either of my daughters have medical issues on the weekend moving forward, Banner Childrens Urgent Care will be my go-to place! Thank you! read more

I took my daughter in today, who had a high fever for 3 days. The fever would not break even with Motrin and Tylenol. The extremely rude Dr. refused to test my daughter for anything and stated it would be "mal-practice to prescribe antibiotics". The ethics course at a most likely Dominican Republic school of medicine has failed this genius. He also tried to tell me that he wouldn't prescribe antibiotics because she might be allergic. Interesting logic and he was informed that she is not allergic to any medicines as she has been sick before. I asked what his expert medical advice would be on a course of action for my daughter and he suggested absolutely nothing. He stated "it is not a big deal for a child (5 yo) to have a high fever for 7 days. Zero treatment and hours of time wasted, all the while, my daughter still has a fever! This is unacceptable and a complaint will be filed against this Dr. and this less than urgent care with the Arizona Medical Board. read more

Urgent Care Extra Elliot is so great. Super clean, informative, well educated Drs & super nice staff! And Quick!!!! They honor the Yelp review for free in house RX on your first visit that's on the Urgent Care Extra Baseline yelp AD. They are super cheap ($125 visit fee) & super quick!!! I've been twice & had good experiences both times. First was for a sinus infection, they gave me RX for $15 & I was out the door in under 30minutes. Second, I came down with pneumonia & Dr. did a physical check then within minutes had me do a chest x-Ray ($50.00---which is usually hundreds at general Dr offices) and gave me results quickly after. In my past, my family Dr. sends you down to X-rays department & you have to wait hours for Dr. to review results--not here! They have all the technology to do everything in the office, review & get you moving out the door to get better!--They are awesome!!! When your sick, you want in, get a verdict, get some meds & be on your way. Urgent Care Extra certainly delivers a one stop shop package!! I knew he needed antibiotics and had a place on his lung that was hurting. Both banner urgent cares did not choose to X-ray they lungs even though I told them I thought he had pneumonia and had it in the past. They gave him steroids and sent him on his way. They coughing continued another week and I got him into pediatric doc and they said they he had pneumonia and gave him antibiotics. By that point his pain in his back had spread to his whole right side. It's so frustrating when they don't listen to Mom's. He was so sick for an unnecessarily long time. read more

I made an appointment after hours for early the following morning for my 3-year-old who we thought had a possible stress or hairline fracture in his foot. When we arrived, we were informed that there wasn't an x-ray tech on duty until later in the day. I took a star off this rating because I wished that information had been on the website when I made the appointment. However, the staff let me know where the closest Banner Urgent Care was that could do x-rays right then. They called ahead for us, changed our appointment in the system, and the other location was waiting for us when we got there. Later I found out that the front desk at this location had also tried to call us to let us know x-rays weren't available, but I was driving at the time, so I didn't get the call and the voicemail didn't come through until later. I had a very disappointing experience at Banner Children's Urgent Care with Dr. Kara Tiffany. My son had cut his foot on a broken glass jar and received 15 stitches. Both doctors who worked on his foot instructed us not to soak the foot and that swimming was off limits until the stitches came out. Our pediatric nurse recommended that we go to a specialist. We agreed were seen twice in the next two weeks. The Podiatrist also instructed that we must not get it wet or soak it as the foot tissue could absorb the liquid and swell, gap or open. He also said that stitches on the bottom of the foot need to be in closer to 3 weeks as the thickness of the skin vs. any other part of the body. After a weekend of camping my son's foot was hurting and there was redness around the wound that I knew was the start of an infection. I decided to go immediately to Urgent Care. At the front desk I started explaining the situation to the medical assistant telling her that I needed a course of antibiotics. She relayed the info to the Pediatrician on duty, Dr. Kara Tiffany. Without even looking at my son's food she told me she would have to take the stitches out and soak the foot. I told her that all three doctors who had given care said that it should not soak it and swimming was off limits. She informed me that stitches could get wet within 24-48 hours and that my son could even be swimming and it wouldn't be a problem. I told her that I was not comfortable with her taking the stitches out or soaking the wound as we were under the care of a specialist and I would consult him the next morning. Dr. Tiffany said in a huff that she would not let someone with an infection out of her care without removing stitches and soaking the wound. All this without even seeing the wound. When she finally got to the room and looked at the foot she again said that the wound should be soaked and that she should remove the stitches and told my son that it would not get better until those things where done. I informed her that we were under the care of a specialist and I would be seeing him the next morning but I wanted to get antibiotics right away. But this was not acceptable to Dr. Tiffany. She agreed to give me the antibiotics but made me sign an AMA (Against Medical Advice) form because I declined the treatment she was offering! This is outrageous to me. My son was under the care of a specialist, would be seeing him the next morning, had, along with others, given instructions contrary to what Dr. Tiffany was recommending, and still she made me sign an AMA. As she walked out of the room she told me that both the Pediatrician in her and the mama bear in her was screaming that this was the wrong choice. As it turns out, it was a good thing I followed my mother's intuition, having much more intimate knowledge of the situation and care my son was receiving from a specialist. When Dr. Tiffany left the room I heard her say to her assistant, "The mom thinks they told her in the ER not to get the wound wet or soak it". She printed out the ER discharge instructions and it literally said, "...do not submerge in bath or pool." She dismissed this saying it didn't say for how long not to do this for and I definitely could do it after a day or two. At the podiatrist the next morning he was very surprised to hear that she had wanted to soak the wound saying that it was a definite NO and that swimming was out for a total of 4 weeks because of the uniqueness of the wound and how the skin on the bottom of the foot heals. He said he had never heard of anyone being made to sign an AMA outside of a hospital situation. The infection was already clearing up the next morning from the antibiotics (without the removal of the stitches or soaking the wound) as Dr. Tiffany insisted was the only way it would get better. The role of an Urgent Care is to provide immediate care until you are able to be seen by your regular doctor or specialist. Dr. Tiffany refused to accept that I was not comfortable following her advice, especially as it went against what I had been told by three other doctors. It was her way or the highway regardless of the fact that within a few hours I would see our specialist who had cared for the wound for weeks. She was unwilling to even listen to me or let me explain the situation before she snapped to judgment and tried to guilt me and bully me. The fact that I had to sign an AMA form to get antibiotics for my son is very disturbing to me. I would council parents to choose a different urgent care where the doctor doesn't use guilt and bullying tactics to have their way instead of listening to and working with the parent and fellow specialists. She was terribly unprofessional and I doubt I will ever go back to Banner Children's Urgent Care because of her. read more

They did not even offer a flu test, But they did offer a lot of unsolicited and rude advice about my career and him going to day care. Then I got an UN founded lecture about him being intact and false information about his urethra. Totally unrelated to why I brought him in there and of course they jumped to a UTI. Had a deep laceration to my hand that required a cleaning, stitches and a tetanus shot. Of course it happens 2hrs before I had to be at work. Walked into this clinic at around 8:20pm and was out before 9pm. This was my first time in this clinic and was impressed with how quickly the were able to enter my Information and seen by a physician assistant. The assistant and Physician were phenomenal. The staff made me feel comfortable and throughout the whole treatment. I will most definitely be using this clinic for future incidents. read more

I've been to this Urgent Care 7 or 8 times since Oct 2016. I have Lupus & have had 2 major surgeries. So, let's just say I'm a frequent flyer! And I will continue to go as long as I'm in Tempe. Each time I go I get fast courteous excellent service. I would recommend this place to anybody. There's never a line it literally takes 20 minutes in & out great service, doctors are knowledgeable they even give referrals! I prefer this place to my general practitioner Doctor Who is always too busy to explain anything but MOSTLY at my regular Doctor office it takes no less than 3 hours to see him! Honest to goodness! I had been to this Urge Care 2 previous times and was most pleased with the care and demeanor of everyone I encountered. My visit today was more than disappointing. I had to go in for a refill on some anxiety medications, as I am between counselors and I am on a wait for an appointment for 2.5 months. Been a lengthy process I didn't expect. The tech that took my vitals was very sweet and had a great personality. I explained why I was there, and she had seen on my chart I was there a month prior for the same reason. The Nurse Practioner, Scott, came in afterwards and was deplorable. He started the conversation with, "I'm trying to figure out why you are here." I explained my reason for the visit and he cut me off everytime I spoke. He was rude, and insensitive, and even remarked about the dosage I was on, saying " you are on THAT many milligrams?" This guy is an embarrassment to the nursing profession and I found that question insensitive and embarrassing. The woman at the front to desk is always so sweet and kind, and immediately greets visitors with a warm smile. I want to emphasize my other experiences have been 4-5 stars. Going forward, I will call ahead and make sure this individual is not the medical "professional" on staff that day. read more

I came in at 11am on the Thursday before Mother's Day. I like this location; have been here previously to get stitches out. This time, I was the only patient there. I cut my foot on a piece of glass a month ago and was still in pain. Scott provided solutions that might work - prescribed an ointment that would bring out the tiny piece of glass. He didn't want to cut it open unless absolutely necessary. He left the room to get the prescription and didn't tell us whether to stay in the room. That was confusing. It would have been helpful to have more communication. It was all okay until I went to the pharmacy and they couldn't find the prescription that I needed! The pharmacists worked on it for almost an hour and then called Scott to ask him about an over-the-counter prescription. I could have avoided the pharmacist altogether if I knew about the cream on the shelf. Thanks for the help. I will update this if I continue to have foot issues. read more

Took my 4 year old here on a Sunday at 2:30 for a busted chin. I called ahead and knew it was busy but wanted a children's urgent care so decided to come anyways. We waited past closing time at 4 and were out the door by 5:30. So it took awhile, but that's ok. The doctor was amazing. Dr Tiffany came in and let us know it would be a little bit before she could do the stitches because she wanted to give appropriate time and care for them. She explained the procedure to my nervous 4 year old and was honest. She did a fantastic job with the stitches. I am a nurse practitioner myself and I'm very observant of other healthcare providers. Despite not having a wait when I got there I was still left sitting the exam room for 45 minutes even though I could hear people chatting outside. Then once Laurie the fnp came in to check me out, she insisted I had the flu despite my only symptoms being post nasal drip and congestion (not my first sinus infection) and was just generally rude. Finally she agreed to post date an antibiotic script but left me waiting in the room another 20-30 minutes before bringing it back. I'm leaving here today pretty disappointed. The front office was clean, and efficient and professional. The MA that took my vitals was fine, but then the PA, Scott, was condescending and rude. I believe he was under informed about some things as well. I came in for a suspected sinus infection, that I felt needed to be treated due to a debilitating headache I had last night. I've never had pain like that before. Scott walked in and made a bit of a condescending comment about my pregnancy being "just barely underwater" - maybe he meant underway? Something I'm quite clear on, since this is my 3rd pregnancy. I only casually mentioned it because I knew some meds would be off of the table. Then he shamed me for calling my headache a migraine, by chastising "how do you know it was a migraine? Have you ever been diagnosed with a migraine before?..." I understand that he was trying to clarify semantics, but a caring listening ear would have been more appropriate, and then a non-judgmental explanation of the term would have been fine. Hopefully Banner can get some better providers in their new location here. I'll be looking for a different urgent care for myself, and my family, next time. read more

We saw a sign advertising flu shots, so we went in to get them. Service was okay then, but then our troubles started with the bills. It turns out that insurance companies don't want to pay for flu shots at an Urgent Care facility. We got bills in the mail near $500. I asked what the walk-in price was for flu shots and they told us $25. I asked why we couldn't pay that much and they said "because you have insurance". They also billed my insurance for an office visit that NEVER happened that day. When I brought this up they started scrambling to keep that money. Eventually they told us we could pay the $25 per-person that walk-ins paid (I get free vaccines at my Dr's office or Walgreen's) and told us we were square. I just got another bill from them in the mail a year later. Avoid at all costs. We will from now on. read more

This urgent care was recommended to me by someone I work with. I went there one Monday in the early afternoon and was very upset with how bad the service was. The woman at the front desk was so rude and kept snapping at anyone who asked her any questions. She told me the price I would pay for my visit and said I would not be billed for any other charges since I paid the cash price. The only friendly person in the whole place was the PA I saw. After all of that, I received a bill for $799 from the urgent care. I have tried to call the billing number so many times and can't get anyone to answer the phone. When I called the location I visited they said there was nothing they could do and referred me to the same phone number I had been calling. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I came in today to be seen for bronchitis. I have new insurance and do not have my card yet so offered to pay $200 upfront and call with my insurance information first thing tomorrow when it wasn't Easter Sunday. The very rude clerk said I could pay $150 Fee for all my care and that I could send claim in myself to UHC. I said that's fine but make sure they provider knows I have insurance so it wouldn't limit my care. The clerk then handed me a paper saying I could not bill my insurance or send a claim in completely contradicting everything she told me. When confronted she did not appear to understand. I do not think she deliberately lied but her lack of knowledge could cause major issues for patients especially those on fixed incomes.
