Food was good . My husband had an omelet with grits . I had a biscuit with bacon and a side of pimento cheese. Cheddar biscuits were too heavy for me and dry . I am a southern girl so I do luv a good biscuit. BUT The Biggest problem I had was the extremely slow service . The place wasn't even half full and it took almost 10 min to take our order and over 30 min to get our food . Other patrons with children were getting very fussy . My wife and I stopped in on our honeymoon and we were so glad we did. The staff were friendly and kind; they even gave us a piece of cake (the gluten-free Oreo cake) when they heard why we were there. Also one of our dining members ordered food that took forever to come out, like everyone else had finished eating and he still hadn't gotten his meal. Finally someone told him that the reason it took so long as because he ordered a steak and that it was still frozen. They offered him a free piece of cake as an apology which was a nice gesture. We have been a few times and the service is fast and the staff is friendly. The chicken tenders are seasoned well and the mashed potatoes are good. The fried green tomatoes are ok not much seasoning and the goat cheese is not my fave. The Cobb salad was good and the friend shrimp was seasoned great. I would NOT recommend the wings. I would give this place more stars if the service was better but I can't. Our server took forever to greet us, and when she did arrive she had an attitude. The hostess was unwelcoming when we came in. Our server almost didn't come back to check on us when we got our food. I had to ask hostess for jelly. I have never felt so confident eating gluten free at a restaurant. My wife and I found this slice of heaven and I was like a kid in a candy store. I would have ordered everything on the menu if I could have. I had the fried chicken, fried okra, and butter pecan cake, all GF and all delicious. My wife had the GF meatloaf and loved it (I took several bites and concurred with her). When we arrived, DeSean greeted us more friendly than we have ever been greeted at a restaurant. After visiting with him and him getting me comfortable at how serious they take gluten intolerance and celiac disease (which I have), I settled in. I didn't expect the owner Tegess, to visit with us too. He shared stories about how this restaurant is not just about making a buck but truly helping people that don't get many options at restaurants as they could. A fine gentleman and a great proprietor. Rest assured though, this is not just a plethora of good GF food; it's just great food! Tegess was our host and he certainly brought flair and character to our experience. He was attendant, affable, and made us laugh with a story or two. All this and we haven't even gotten to the food. It being the COVID age we sat outside and our food was brought to us in a timely manner, fresh and absolutely delicious. My wife loved the eggs so much she has taken to making them at home in the exact same manner. However, that takes nothing from Bantam. We will be back. Needed to find a good lunch spot while here for some short term business. Had a pleasant interaction with a hostess outside who brought me inside to have my temperature checked and then to my table. I ordered the salmon filet with a side of jalapeño coleslaw and picked beets with goat cheese. The salmon was done perfectly and the beets were tasty! The coleslaw was unfortunately fairly bland as it seemed to be just cabbage and raw jalapeños covered in mayo, but was still edible. The gluten-free cornbread was also done very well and was tasty! Soooo, in the heart of downtown, we stepped out of our hotel (the Read House) to find breakfast. We found this place and put our name in for two just after a party of six. Then the hostess took another name. We All stood near the door and another party of four walked up to put their names in and said whatever you have, seat us. The hostess said "sure we have a back patio" and took them in. We all looked very puzzled and the other party asked if they really just sat them without asking any of us. To be clear, the party that was sat did not have their name in. None of us were offered a back patio. I was visiting out of town, so I think in your industry with being so near all those hotels that you should do extra training and just remind your employees that sometimes it's a one shot try. Being in customer service we have to always be on the top of our game. I think sometimes this younger generation isn't use to that. It's just a job. Like your cashier that took my order--she was nice at first, but she was trying to get your attention and just get out of there and she charged me wrong and never saw to it that I got my order.
