One of our favorite places for lunch. The menu is not huge, but is reasonably diverse and often includes a tempting special. What stands out though is the quality of everything they serve. lunch recently on a rainy day....great place, smallish and plainly decorated, but attractive, sort of a limited lunch menu but the dinner menu is at least twice the size, beer and wine only for lunch, full bar at night, BUT, it was excellent, i had the burger and the side salad which was pretty much a whole salad and both very good, wife had the fish(flounder) and chips which was wonderful....would highly recommend esp. in the evening for the bigger menu and some interesting mixed drinks on it, service was very nice and attentive and informative, LIKED the place!!! read more

We randomly stumbled on this place while looking for a place to eat after a long hike and they were one of the few places open in the vicinity late at night. So glad we found it, because the food was delish. I got a seasonal butternut squash ravioli with sage butter that was AMAZING. My boyfriend got their pork dish that he enjoyed as well. For dessert we had their baked cookie dough with home made condensed milk ice cream and it was also delicious. Wow, this restaurant is practically in my backyard and I had no idea what a gem it is! I stopped in for lunch and had a delicious grilled salmon salad for the amazing price of $12.00. There have been many restaurants in this space, included my beloved Cantine, but Bantam Grill looks to be the best of them. Friendly staff, good prices, clean environment and great food. It's worth a trip off 101 if you are anywhere close by looking for an excellent meal featuring local ingredients that won't break the bank. My daughter and I eat here often. The food is consistently delicious and the waitstaff is very friendly. We really like the ambiance.

Absolutely wonderful place. Ambiance is great, service is great and the alcohol choices are also great. I had their burger but requested a fried egg on top and I must say that it was easily one of the best burgers I have eaten. My husband and I were looking for a good place to get a drink and some lunch and saw the menu and pictures for Bantam and decided to try it. We walked in and sat at the bar and after the waitress got the specials wrong and was corrected by another server we ordered a couple vodka sodas, only to hear her say "good eye, but we don't serve anything but beer and wine at lunch". Uh that's odd for it to be in front of us, but not allowed to order it. After looking at the small menu and wiping the random pieces of hair from the bar in front of us we decided to go to another restauraunt that does serve liquor and have a delightful lunch. read more

What a lovely surprise to find on a Sunday night! Great Manhattans, perfectly cooked medium rare cheeseburger with bacon that was to die for and I had salmon that was beautifully moist and covered with coriander crust. Lovely! Staff is excellent as well! read more

We had a wonderful dinner Saturday night. I was so glad I checked the reviews and saw the tips to reserve. When we arrived, 30 minutes after opening it was mostly empty. I said to my wife, 'well maybe we didn't need a reservation after all.' How wrong I was. Bantam filled up with reserved tables and people were being turned away. We started with the duck appetizer - I could have ordered two of those as an entree and gone to bed a happy man. We also had the crab dip that was so tasty I may never be able to have it any place else. By the time our entrees came out we knew we were not in an ordinary restaurant. Don't let the location in a strip mall deter you. This is the real deal. We were visiting in the area and we may just have to go back so we can eat here again. Out 'server' was more than just a server and was attentive and perfectly helpful to make it a great experience. The young lady that greeted us and took our reservation earlier was professional and personable. All around service, food, and beautiful decor inside make this a five star experience. read more

I have had drinks at Bantam in the past but last Monday evening was my first time dining there. I took my parents from North Carolina there as we were looking for a casual feeling restaurant with delicious food and a quiet atmosphere. Bantam did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations. Our server, Ashley, was great (she was obviously well-trained to anticipate customer's needs and even modified an order for us smoothly and without error). The food was DELICIOUS. I usually do not like eating in restaurants as the food feels to err either on the side of too heavy or too light. This was neither, satiating without weighing you down. Our wine (we chose the Black Cabra Malbec) was also delicious and my mom enjoyed her Blueberry Moscow Mule (Monadnock Mule on the menu). Great beer selection for the men and everything done to perfection. We will not hesitate to take our friends and family here to dine in the future! Well done, Bantam Grill! read more

Had the chance to dine here last night and was not disappointed. The cocktails were well made and priced properly, as well as being flavorful. The corn chowder was the best I have had based on it not being too heavy, and the ingredients caused the need to finish the bowl, knowing full well I would have an entree. The chicken special (Chicken, Cheddar and jalapeno meatballs served with porcini mushroom, jalapeno and a wonderful chicken based sauce served over bucatini) was just heavenly and we will be back again. We had a reservation for 6:30 and arrived on time. We were told they did not have a table for us ... because the guests at the table ahead of us were taking longer than planned. We asked about why they were not going to simply seat us at the many other tables that were empty? We were told they were reserved for other people. Really? Heard good things about this friendly and welcoming farm to table experience in 'Our Town' Peterborough, but I can't speak to the food this time because we never got a chance to sit down. We called and made a reservation earlier in the day and when we arrived just prior to our 630 booking, we were told that unfortunately our table wasn't ready with no indication when it would be available. When I asked if we could sit at either the two available booths or the other available tables available we were told that 'others' had specifically requested them and if we wanted to wait at the bar we could. I said sure, we'd love to have a drink on the house since we wouldn't be getting a table. She said she had to get the manager, tick tock, tick tock. She went up to the bartender and said something to her and the bartender, she couldn't be bothered. Mind you, this place isn't exactly hopping at 630, so really? Not even a wave to 'come on over'! When the hostess came back I asked if we could talk to the manager and she left for a few minutes, tick tock, tick tock, and came back alone. She said he's out back but would come out in a bit. At this point, we told her that we'll go elsewhere. The food is good, we've been here before. Management is horrendous and more focused the narrative of the theme apparently than on how to be a restauranteur. I guess when you're the only F-t-T in town you can take liberties with what you think your customers expectations are. Best thing that can happen to Bantam is the Pearl expands and pushes them further out of business. Where Bantams atmosphere was like a tired old country club, Pearl and Coopers, the new Irish pub were hopping! Superior service and a lively vibe in both so don't waste your time with these Hacks or wait until they get folks in there that know how to run a restaurant. read more

Went there for lunch and found the food, service, presentation, portions without compare! Finally an excellent restaurant in Peterborough with imaginative delicious food, superb friendly service, and a chef who can manage special requests with panache. Great restaurants in southern NH are rare but this one is the best yet. Don't bother going anywhere else in Peterborough for an upscale yet casual relaxing atmosphere (and don't let the tacky strip mall through you off) and as good as Boston at 1/2 the price. This and the Hancock Inn and Luca's (Keene) are the only place I can take out of town guests and not be embarrassed by bad service, marginal food at inflated prices. Thank you Bantam Grill! I tend to be an all or none guy (i.e. 1 star or 5 stars). Not a good quality for an objective reviewer. Nevertheless, i just had lunch at the Bantam and could not leave before finding my way to the kitchen and giving them a heartfelt thank you for such a superb lunch. I had the BLT, served on a delicious baguette style bread with thick locally produced bacon, fresh lettuce, tomato, and a pleasant mild mayo based dressing - or maybe it was just the mayo alone absorbing the tastiness of the bacon and tomato. Outstanding. I also had a Caesar wedge which was also very good, although a little overdressed for my taste. To make the experience even better, their choice of music was very pleasant, and the ambience is peaceful. The staff seem genuinely motivated to provide excellent service. The prices are very reasonable - especially considering the high calibre offerings. read more

Food is generally good however the website says the menu changes often. I have visited a few times over the last 2 years and then menu has not changed once and is rather limited. Slightly expensive for what you get. Decent service except once when we sat at the bar and they seemed to forget about us. The real reason I come back is the dessert. Wasn't sure what to think when we approached because this place is situated in a strip mall. We were pleasantly surprised walking in and it was quaint and quite nice. They menu was simple and consisted of Italian styled dishes. My wife and I had salad and corn chowder as apps and both were very good. The bacon / fat back in the chowder was clearly artisanal and the chowder was different than the thick clam chowder like consistency I've come to expect. With that said, it was very well done. It was light and smokey and very enjoyable. My wife had the encrusted salmon which was served with roasted broccoli and homemade hummus. The dish was excellent! My entree was the carbonara which included a homemade pasta. Once again, it was not a thick goopy sauce and more of a brothy rich sauce with a wonderfully done poached egg on top. Overall the food was very good!! The only draw back was our table was quite close to the adjacent table and lacking in privacy however the atmosphere in the restaurant overall was quite good. Ate here for lunch on a Tuesday. We were greeted quickly and seated wherever we chose. The restrooms were clean and the decor was very nice, a chicken theme but very tasteful. We had a Caesar wedge salad and a BLT, and fish and chips, both were delicious! Price was very reasonable especially given the high quality of the food. The food here is good, no complaint there. My sole complaint is the way they make their cocktails. I like Old Fashions, they stock two ryes, pretty sparse. The Bartender fills the Hurricane glass with 10-15 ice cubes like the kind you would get in a fountain drink at Seven Eleven, he keeps the ice cubes in a plastic bucket/tray in a sink so they get soft and covered in water. The first sip is good, the second Ok, the third begins to taste watered down and it is only down hill from there. A good cocktail only needs two or three real ice cubes, fresh out of the freezer. read more
