Cute restaurant with a calm vibe in a historic building with historic photos on the walls. Plenty of parking but this restaurant filled quickly on a Saturday morning. It was my friend's second visit and my first. I ordered the Spicy Mocha Guava Mimosa and the Chicken and Pancakes with spicy syrup, asked for extra syrup it was addictive! All of it was delicious, but I needed to take half of it home and they gave me a to go of spicy syrup! My friend had the Eggs Benedict w/ a coffee and a Bloody Mary, said it was perfect. Service was prompt and sweet, got two bottles of cold water delivered without asking, which seems to be rare. Food was served hot. Accommodations were graciously provided. Bottom line: yummy food, nice vibe, and solid service. I'll return to try more dishes! read more

So delicious!! Classic Eggs Benedict were great. Ham and eggs were very well executed and absolutely the best homemade English muffin ever - which so many places get wrong. Not too bready - perfectly toasted. Could have used more hollandaise, which I couldn't really taste and is usually the most important part. I would've asked for more if server had ever come back to our table once food was delivered. Alas, they did not. Only reason it's not 5 stars. Bloody Marys were fantastic. Star was probably husband's biscuits and gravy. That gravy was PHENOMENAL and the biscuits were excellent. Overall - service could definitely use improvement but host was very helpful, food was fantastic, ambience was fun, and hats off to the talented chef! read more

I ordered the croque madame, which comes with a sunny-side egg on top. After eating part of it, I broke into the egg and noticed something gelatinous on top. I scraped it off with my knife and found it was a big glob of completely uncooked egg white. It was honestly one of the grossest things I've experienced at a restaurant. I sent the dish back, and to the waitress's credit, she was professional and offered to replace it. But I was so grossed out that I didn't want another one. The bigger problem was how management handled it. Instead of comping the dish, they initially gave only a 20% discount. When I questioned it, the manager said that because I had eaten about half, they'd only give me 50% off and that I should have had it replaced. That completely missed the point. Once you find something that disgusting in your food, you're not exactly eager for round two. The waitress was fine, but the manager's response made a bad experience worse. read more

This is a great little spot for breakfast or Brunch! Open, airy, bright atmosphere with big windows. Excellent service and Wonderful food! Two of us shared the yummy special pastry, the California omelette (delish), a biscuit, and some very good sausage. Price was great too, even with a coffee each it was only about $22 per person. It's been a long time since ive been this disappointed in a meal but wow was it the worst sandwich and salad ive probably ever had..and for 18 dollars none the less b4 tip. It was so dry I ordered extra mayo and horseradish which was not extra at all on the sandwich... the meat as like two slices the ratio was way off.. ill post the photos to prove it. Now the "salad" they give you "leafy greens " were all brown and bad completely inedible I threw all but the 3 bites i tryed to get down of half of half of the whole sandwich away...super frustrated as this was my meal for work that I couldn't eat read more

Visited Sweet Bay Cafe while in town for a wedding! The interior of the restaurant was so cute and cozy, but could still fit several tables. We were seated right away and quickly ordered the Diner Breakfast and the Spicy Scramble. They were exactly what you would want on a weekend morning. The hashbrowns were the best thing. Had the California scramble, chicken & biscuit (no spicy jam), and a specialty iced carrot cake latte. The scramble was very good. Not a huge portion, but I was content. The chicken and biscuit dish was very good, although a little sticky. We got strawberry jam with it (after we asked) which was excellent. The drink was very ordinary so would give this place 4.5/5*. Went here for the first time this morning. I'm bummed we hadn't heard of this place sooner, it was fantastic and we're excited to come back! The vibe is relaxed, comfortable, and welcoming. Service is happy and attentive. The food is amazing! I had the monte cristo with turkey instead of ham - it was decadent and flavorful. I really appreciated that they grilled the turkey prior to adding to the sandwich, it was lovely touch. The mixed green salad was crisp and refreshing. My husband had the chicken and pancakes - the chicken was similar to karage, very crispy and seasoned well. The pepper jelly was surprisingly tasty and rounded the dish. Great coffee. Very cool place. Decor, setting, and layout are welcoming. Server was kind and attentive. Chocolate milk wasn't on the menu, but was made for me and it was great. Ordered the Diner breakfast and the eggs were cooked perfectly, the sausage was typical, and the hash browns were fantastic! All hash browns start out the same...the difference is how they are cooked and how they are seasoned. These were some of the best I've had. They were crispy on top and bottom, yet not overcooked; the seasoning was perfect! Get the sourdough toast , it is very good. I considered giving it a 4 rating as it was freezing in the restaurant. Great place, my wife and I have had two meals there. The first was breakfast, she had eggs Benedict and loved it, I had the Diner breakfast with pancakes, it was so delicious. Both our breakfasts were prepared perfectly. We liked the place so much we came back the next day for lunch. Again we had a wonderful meal. She had the BLT and I had the smash burger with fries. Everything was delicious, the fries were fresh and piping hot. The burger was juicy and tender. We both loved the way they prepare their breads. The toast for breakfast and the BLT were lightly toasted on the griddle with butter, same for the burger bun. I have to say that our experience for both meals couldn't have been better. The service was excellent, we had different servers and each were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is very clean, quiet and relaxed. We wanted to love this place so bad! It's super cute and we were really hoping we would love the food. Unfortunately we didn't. I had the chicken and pancakes and my husband had the Montecristo sandwich. Neither one of us really cared for our food. On the sandwich, the French toast portion was soggy, and the ham was just too thick cut. For me, the pancakes were completely without flavor. I mean, none whatsoever. They also lose points for a Mrs. Butterworth's type of syrup, as opposed to pure maple, chicken thighs, instead of chicken, breasts, and high fructose, corn syrup ketchup. Yeah, these are fairly minor, but it's the little things that really make a restaurant special. The service was great -- friendly, and efficient. We love the decor in the vibe. Me Fredrick enjoys this yummy café. Thought yhe wait quite intense, I was well worth it in the end, the food was very much yummy, though it was a wee bit above my budget, my 9-5 at mc donalds makes it hard to pay for this kinda ordeal. But it didnt help my wallet when I brought my sister and my ginger. There was a baby that kept kicking my sister but it was fine because it was a cute baby. I enjoyed the Croque Madame, not seen anywhere else in Bellingham. Sauce was a little mustard forward and bread was tough to cut, but very large portion with generous ham. Came with side salad. Husband had chicken biscuit. Prices reasonable for breakfast in Bellingham. Light and open space. Seated at coffee bar so able to watch very efficient staff serve coffee and alcoholic drinks. Our visit was somewhat hit and miss. It is spacious and has a comfortable vibe. We arrived shortly after they opened and asked for coffee, but there was no brewed coffee available and we had to wait about 15 minutes before they could pour us some. We shared an order of chicken and pancakes. The chicken was a hit- generous portion, delicious seasoning, and cooked perfectly- crispy, juicy, and tender. The pancakes, however, were awful. My husband described them as "dense and gummy." We each had one bite and left the rest behind. Please find a different pancake recipe- preferably one with buttermilk, so they'll be a tender and delicious match for that lovely chicken. We'll give it another try sometime. read more
