Such a cute and charming cafe for quick breakfast with my boyfriend We walked over and were able to sit immediately. Service was quick and knowledgeable Menu is concise and well rounded for breakfast and lunch options. I had the Avocado Toast with a poached Egg on top and my partner ordered the Build Your Own Breakfast Platter with Eggs hash browns toast and bacon. Meal was delicious, fresh and our coffees were expertly made. Would recommend to anyone in the area for a quick breakfast. The actual restaurant is pretty small so on the weekends it might be packed but they also have benches outside for some extra space

Banter is a solid breakfast spot that has an online waitlist and doesn't get way too crowded on the weekends. We were able to get a table for 3 on a Sunday morning at 10am straight away! This is definitely a California style/ Australian brunch where they have delicious healthy eats! The food didn't blow me away but it was good. It's super cute inside and perfect for a girlie morning brunch! Definitely make sure to get the banana bread for the table (or yourself)!!

Got the tempura fried cauliflower, it was fine. Cauliflower was cooked well but was inconsistently seasoned. Some bites lacked flavor, some were too salty. Place was clean service was good. Seating was fine, was a little cramped but that's typical for the area. Sauce was fine, I felt like the seasoning on the cauliflower didn't go well with it and it wasn't a great combination. Cauliflower has a weird cinnamon flavor to it. Not my thing. Was nicely fried though. Wasn't bad, wouldn't come back.

The service was great - everyone was kind and attentive. The ambiance is so cute and colorful, making it feel very warm and fun. All of the dishes my friends and I tried were tasteful and good portion sizes!

Ate here solo on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I was able to be seated in about 10 mins, whereas I saw group after group leave once they were told the wait would be an hour and 45 minutes. Once I was seated, my order was taken almost immediately, which would have been a bit annoying had I not already known what I wanted. My food came out quickly and the presentation was lovely. The French Toast is gorgeous, but I don't think the toast holds its own and hinges on being heavily topped. Nutella, granola, strawberries, bananas, blackberries, cashews, pepitas, granola, etc. It also already comes with the syrup drizzled on it, which in hindsight, I could've done without. During the time I ate, no one checked on me at all. I wanted to order a coffee, but never got to. I figured once there was a napkin on my plate my waiter would come back, but no. The person who took my order walked past me many times, I made eye contact, said excuse me. Nothing. I wasn't in a rush, so I just dawdled and read on my phone. Eventually, someone came up from the cellar and as soon as he walked in, scanned the room and checked on me. That same person cashed me out as well. I didn't get their name, but they had locs. I think this is a solid breakfast spot, but not worth the long waits. The breakfast options are pretty limited and I think that the prices are a bit steep. I work near here, so I'd return eventually but I'm in no rush.

Was walking around and was headed to the east village, but wanted to stop for a late lunch and found Banter from a quick Google search. The space was cozy and there were plenty of tables when we arrived, which quickly changed as hungry and cold people streamed in. I had a matcha and we shared the banter bowl and salmon toast. Both were so delicious, savory, filling, and certainly the healthiest thing we had on our winter vacation. The service was attentive, helpful, and very kind, and I really recommend it and would love to come back!

Can I have this for breakfast everyday? We stopped by early Sunday morning and were seated immediately. With some 70s/80s light r&b music setting the vibe (think songs like Sade), got a big cup of coffee (no refills?) and a big breakfast. There are variations you can get, scrambled vs poached, toast vs no toast, etc but they are all generously sized and very tasty semi-bowls. I loved mine with avocado while my dining companion adored the kale salad. Service was quick and the place is small and cozy, perfect for those cool autumn mornings. We will be back next time we're in the village. Yum!

If you're lucky enough to grab a table - do it. Cozy inside seating (maybe outside too- but we visited while it was raining). Smooth & easy service, straight forward brunch food with a fun list of drinks. Food was tasty and fresh, reasonably priced as well.

Two things I desperately needed during my recent trip to NYC were great breakfast and to not feel rushed! Banter felt like the perfect combination of "in the mix" dining and a break from the overwhelming rush of a New York morning. The staff practically read my mind with every request, they were friendly, accomodating and swift with their service. The food and coffee was excellent - the avocado toast being my personal highlight from my few visits. This place rocks, will definitely be returning

Banter turned out to be such a happy surprise. A group of six of us stopped in unexpectedly for breakfast when our original spot was closed, and it ended up being the perfect backup. The coffee was excellent, the ambience was warm and inviting, and every plate at the table looked and tasted delicious. Portions were very generous, and everything felt incredibly wholesome and satisfying, from the food to the beverages. Would absolutely come back here, especially for a cozy, relaxed breakfast with friends or coworkers.

I would STRONGLY recommend adding yourself to the online waitlist about 1.5-2 hours before you plan on arriving. This place is small and popular and the wait can be very long. For a table of 4, we were on the waitlist for about 2 hours, but I will say I think it was worth. I chose the big breakfast platter and wow wee; everything tasted so fresh and healthy, and it was such a large, filling meal. The tomato jam is to die for! Some of my friends got the French toast and they easily rank it in top three best they've ever had. I didn't try it cause I was stuffed, but from their descriptions, the batter (?) was perfectly distributed throughout the bread. The Nutella was a worry cause of the sweetness it could add (in combination with the syrup) but it actually added a much needed bitterness to cut the sweet syrup. Thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast here and looking forward to trying the French toast in the future!

The matcha flavor came through nicely, while the green tangerine added a bright, citrusy flavor that made the drink incredibly refreshing. It was lightly sweet with a little fizz, and the dried citrus garnish was a nice touch. The customer service was also great. I had a few questions about the drinks, and they were enthusiastically answered, which I really appreciated. I'm always happy when a coffee shop has interesting options for us non-coffee drinkers, and this one definitely delivered. I'll be back and would absolutely order the Green Tangerine Matcha Ade again.

Ten Thousand is a Korean chain (three spots in Manhattan now, plus outposts in Taipei and LA) and…read moreeveryone comes for the einspanner. I don't drink coffee. So I went in for the Green Tangerine Matcha Ade, which is the drink they should be talking about more. The green tangerine is the Jeju cheonggyul thing, the unripe fruit picked before it sweetens, so you get a sharper, almost yuzu-adjacent bitterness instead of orange juice sweetness. That's the right call against matcha. Grassy tea, tart citrus, light sugar, actual carbonation that hadn't gone flat by the time I got to the bottom. The matcha stayed suspended too, which is harder than it sounds in soda water. Dried citrus wheel on top is a real garnish, not a sad afterthought. Staff were genuinely into it. I asked what grade of matcha they use and how it's built, and got straight answers with zero eye-rolling. Rare at a counter-service spot at 1410 Broadway, where most places are just moving the garment district lunch crowd through. It's eight bucks for a fizzy tea. That's steep, and the room is basically a lobby cafe with very little seating, so this is a grab-and-walk-to-Bryant-Park situation, not a linger. Still, if you're a tea person stuck in a coffee city, this is one of the better cold matcha drinks in Midtown right now. Better balanced than Kijitora's peach fizz, which leans sweet. Order it, skip the seating, don't expect quiet.
