We didn't have time to visit on our last trip to New York, so this time we made a point of coming here--and I'm so glad we did. The chocolate chip cookie is truly on another level. It deserves every bit of the praise it gets. It's not overly sweet, the texture is absolutely perfect, and you can really taste the quality of the chocolate. I'm usually not someone who can eat a lot of desserts because I find them too sweet, but I couldn't stop eating this cookie. It was genuinely one of the best I've ever had. I also ordered a matcha latte, and it was excellent. I loved that they prepared it the traditional way, whisking it by hand instead of using a machine. It made a noticeable difference in both the flavor and texture. Honestly, this cookie alone is worth coming back to New York for. Highly recommended! read more

I LOVE a chocolate chip cookie and New York seems to be chocolate chip cookie heaven. I scoured every list seeking something different than my usual favorites and Culture Espresso came up time and time again as a favorite. On many lists, it was number one, so I had to give it a try. I went out of my way to walk over to grab a cookie. You can tell that many others had probably read the same list as me as there was a decent line going out the door, but it moved quickly and wasn't a deterrent. My honest review, not my favorite cookie! It leaned a little too dry and crisp and didn't have enough of that soft gooey-ness for me. Just not my preferred style! They weren't bad, but no where near my favorite. It is fun that they have a few different flavors though including the Korn cookie! read more

Solid to go of chocolate chip (reminds me of the thick ones we make at home), black & white (coconut?), and the korn cookies are perhaps the best of the lot. Everyone at the desk likes these. And they are also an expresso / coffee bar. I don't drink coffee, so that part is skipped. read more

Culture Espresso got 1st place in the NYC Chocolate Chip blind taste test cookie-off so we had to try their cookies! We got a chocolate chip, oatmeal cranberry, and corn cookies. All were phenomenal! At $6.50 each, they can be pricey, but are all delicious! The quality of their coffee is great too. We stopped in twice, one day we got a hot latte and the next an iced maple latte. The maple flavor did not come through though which was a little disappointing. Good option if you're in the area and love a solid chocolate chip cookie! read more

Stopped by Culture Espresso to grab some of their famous cookies and they were great! There was a short line when we got there, but we waited less than ten minutes to order so it went quickly. The cookie I was most excited for was the corn cookie and the chocolate chip also looked really good. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by the black & white cookie because for some reason I thought it was a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips, but it was actually just a regular cookie with black and white chips lol. The cookies themselves were really solid though. Nice light crisp around the edges with a chewy center without being overly gooey or underbaked. Definitely on the thicker side too, which I liked. Next time I'll have to try one of their espresso drinks! read more

Excellent iced vanilla latte with oatmilk. I also tried the corn, black & white, and chocolate chip cookie. Perfectly chewy edges, soft center, and just the right amount of rich. I was on a mission to try all the best chocolate chip cookies in NYC and this place was high on the list!! This place was in walking distance from our hotel and I was THRILLED!! We walked in and the shop was cozy and clean. We were greeted by the staff. They were very friendly and helped us promptly. I was impressed to see that Culture had won several blind taste test competitions - my hippies were high!! The cookie came out gooey and hot - let's just say it didn't last long. Culture Coffee is my go-to treat when I'm working in the city. The menu is refreshingly simple, the coffee is solid, and everything is always consistent--which honestly matters more than people think. Their homemade syrups are the real star, especially the vanilla. It's spot on, not artificial at all, just perfectly balanced and delicious. I genuinely think this is the best coffee I've had in the city, no question. It's one of those places that makes me look forward to my workdays just so I can stop in and treat myself. I pass by here so often and every time, the smell of espresso and chocolate chip cookies wafts outside. I've been wanting to come here just based off of that, and then finding out that the chocolate chip won a blind taste test before definitely became my second reason. I got the Korn, matcha, and chocolate chip cookie. The korn cookie just tasted like corn bread, I wouldn't get it again. I lovedddd the matcha cookie (an office favorite). It had white chocolate and dried berry in it. It could've been overly sweet but the dried berry offset it and turned it into a delight. The chocolate chip cookie tasted average but the texture and thickness definitely stuck out to me. Once you bite into it, you can see the layer of chip vs cookie. read more

If you're going to tout your chocolate chip cookies, I hold you to a high standard, as these are a sacred item to me. Culture passes the test with ease. In need of a coffee once again for this cold start of the week and decided to break away from the norm and try a new spot. Upon entering it's a nice small cozy spot, enough to sit around 5-8 people. Ordered a latte and was made pretty quickly, no wait time. The latte was good but couldn't really taste anything special about it besides the price being higher than other spots. The coffee could be stronger but it was well balanced milk/coffee ratio and was foamier than the normal lattes I've had. Worth a try read more

My wife and I pop in for a visit whenever we're in NYC cause they make one of the best chocolate chip cookies in the country. Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and perfectly balanced. The other flavors are good, but the chocolate chip is hands down the standout. Come for the cookie--and if there's room, stay a bit to enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Service: Generally fine. Ambience: Cute and cozy, but very limited seating. It's really more of a takeout spot. read more

Great chocolate chip cookie, okay espresso. Wouldn't come back for the coffee, but I'd come back to try the other cookie flavors. Espresso tasted like jet fuel, both sour and bitter at the same time. Shop is super tiny and cramped with only counter seating. Line goes out the door and I think it took us 10-15 minutes to make it up to the front from outside. The chocolate chip cookies sell out fast, but they're always baking new batches. If you're okay waiting 15-20min, they'll call out your order/name when the new batch is out, and you get to eat a totally fresh and hot cookie. Price is steep for a single cookie at $4.50, but I think I'd pay it again. Chocolate chip had crispy edges, nice crackly top, and gooey in the center. Melt-in-your-mouth goodness. read more

This is the best cookie shop in NYC respectfully. I went to attend the Thanksgiving parade then surprisingly realized I was right by Culture Expresso. I tried their cookies back in May and it was really good. Room temp, warm, etc it was goodddd. I just never found the time to stop by until now. As someone who has my preference of cookie, this ticks all the boxes. All I've had is the chocolate chip and that's all I need. It's not too thick. Has a nice exterior. The chocolate they use is perfect. They even have a plaque. That's how you know they're legit. I was addicted to Levain at one point and this reminds me of their cookies but done wayyy better. It was cold so I got a tea too. I don't know if it was because the parade but it was active in here. A line to order and customers all over. Shout out to the couple who runs Culture Expresso. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and happened to be crossing the street to discover this location without looking for it! There actually was a very small line out the door when I arrived, and you could smell the cookies from outside which is enough to invite you in. I was only in the mood for an iced latte, so I got the Vermont maple flavor, but I barely tasted any flavor to it, to be honest. It was a beautiful 70 degree day out and they had the heat blasting in there. I would give it another try with perhaps a different flavor, and definitely want to try some of their cookies. They had lots of merch as well but it was a bit overpriced in my opinion, as their drinks were decently priced for a NYC shop. read more

Went to Culture Espresso for the first time after hearing how good their cookies are--and wow, they really are! We ended up getting five kinds: corn, chocolate chip, white/dark chocolate chip, oatmeal cranberry, and peanut butter. Every single one was delicious. The shop itself is super cute, with awesome, friendly staff who were patient while we decided what to get (good thing, because the line behind us grew fast!). If I lived nearby, I'd come back in a heartbeat. I even looked up whether they ship their cookies--sadly, it doesn't look like they do. Cool name. Cool space. Mediocre cookies. Stopped into Culture Espresso because, honestly, the branding is great and the chandeliers pulled me in. The coffee was solid, smooth, and exactly what you'd hope for on a rainy NYC afternoon. The cookies though... not so much. The oatmeal raisin had no sweetness at all, like eating a spoonful of ambition that never became dessert. The black & white was better, but still not "NYC best cookie" level. If this place were across the river in Jersey, I'd call it a five-star gem. In Manhattan? Just a decent stop with nice people and good coffee, surrounded by a city full of better ones. read more

I love me a good chocolate chip cookie and did not expect the line to be out the door! The line moves really quick though. I purchased two chocolate chip cookies. The cashier was very sweet. There is seating but people are also standing around chating as well. An individual chocolate chip cookie is $5.75. I think I heard if you buy 6, it might be cheaper a bit. I like how it is not overly sweet or chocolately. I thought I knew where my favorite chocolate chip cookie was from in NYC and had that locked down and secured. There was no way that my mind was gonna be changed. Boy, was I wrong!!!!! Definitely will be coming back. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! I just stumbled across Culture Espresso because my nail spot is a few doors down, and I was looking for some coffee to help with a slight headache. When I walked in, I noticed a sign saying they were voted #1 in a blind taste test for their chocolate chip cookies. I decided to get the chocolate chip cookie along with the Maple Freeze, a slushy-style coffee drink. The Maple Freeze was pretty good! It wasn't overly sweet, which I really appreciated, and it was a nice caffeinated treat during this 91° heat wave. But THE COOKIE... I ate the chocolate chip cookie when I got home without even warming it up, and it was incredibly delicious. Ive been a regular here for a few months now, but havent gotten around to writing a review. So here it goes!! Culture is AMAZING. In a neighborhood full of awful food and drink, thank goodness they came along. Two things on the food front- the steal cut oats and French quiche were both out of this world. They are both new takes on old favorites. The CAPPUCINO that was made for me was outstanding. Great milk, great crema-an all around wonderful drink. I think they also use a local dairy for the milk, which I cant be happier about! The Baristas there are uber-friendly, and really know their stuff. You can tell that they love what they do. I recently visited Culture Espresso near Bryant Park, and even in the late afternoon, it was quite busy. I ordered an iced latte with brown sugar which was good, but what really stood out were their cookies. These cookies were not too thick like others you find in the city, but they were large and packed with gooey chocolate that I absolutely loved. The cookies had a crispy exterior and a slightly chewy interior, making them a delightful treat. The cafe had a cozy and simple atmosphere, and the staff was friendly. Had to give it a try because the raving reviews on Yelp. Small coffee shop radiates cool and urban chic vibes. Ordered myself a small hot latte. My cup is filled to the brim with cute decorative heart-shaped foam art. Couldn't wait to taste it. Surprised to find out my latte was lukewarm, not hot ? ! Yes, I took a sip as soon as the coffee was handed to me by the barista. A bit bland for latte with a hint of smoky (yet not burnt) taste. Overall, good as in average, not great! There is a dearth of good coffee near my office at 34th & 5th. I am fan of Lucid on Lex and Macchiato on 44th, but both are just a bit too far afield for an afternoon cup. I recently walked by Culture and thought it would be worth checking out as an alternative. Ordered a pour over and was ecstatic to learn they serve my favorite coffee, Sightglass from San Francisco. Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops in NYC. Love their iced coffee, but wish they had hemp milk as an alternative. Great Cookies and other baked goods are available. The place is always crowded when I visit, but the staff is efficient. I like it as more of a grab and go spot, but they do have limited seating.
