Love the decor of his place now with vintage pieces from gas station, USA flag and zenith radio. Lots of apparel to choose from while waiting for order. Decided to come and get a bowl and when I came in the store was clean, not super busy, and the staff was very friendly. I ordered a small Ala Moana and paid almost $16 for one bowl ($2 went towards a tip). I was a bit surprised when the girl handed me the bowl because it wasn't even half way full, so naturally my first thought was "wow" this is what almost $16 gets you . I had 5 slices of banana which is a 1/4 of a banana and in the picture you can see how much I was given in relation to the spoon standing up. I got the small Maui sunrise, which has a blend of coconut milk, açaí, bananas, strawberries, and mango; and then topped with granola, bananas, strawberries, blueberries, coconut shreds, and honey. The fruits are fresh, the granola and coconut is crunchy (and not skimped out on), and I thought this was a refreshing, healthier option for a sweet treat. I think the small size is enough to share for two people, though I also think it's a bit expensive for what it is. The service is painfully slow. There were maybe 2-3 orders before me, but overall it didn't look that busy. I felt bad for the family in front of us who ended up getting their bowls way after me. I'm not sure if the staff just isn't fast enough at cutting the fruit and putting it in the blender, if there isn't enough staff to begin with, if they are teens and just simply don't care, if there are too many customers for them, etc., but either way expect to wait a while. My favorite açaí place hands-down. I love that their base is blended, and you get the option to choose between hemp milk and apple juice. We always choose hemp milk because it's the perfect level of sweetness for us. The only reason why I'd give 4 stars instead of 5 is because they are heavyyy with the granola (I wish there was more of the base), and the service is extremely hit or miss. Tables fashioned from cold grey metal, uninspired and institutional like the sad handiwork of a teenager who barely passed shop class. Chairs that matched, in the worst way possible. And the blender. I come here at least once every week. Today it was a scorcher 8/30 @ 4:45pm so we thought let's go to Banzai. It is getting to be a running joke for my wife and I when we come here. I always ask for the granola on the side. Without fail one of these kids that works here assures me at the register they will make note on the receipt of my request. Without fail, like at least 4/5 recent visits, granola throughout my bowl. Im sorry but when you pay this much for this product you want it the way you request. In-n-Out does this with zero issues in decades. I own a small business and totally wouldn't want to cost a small business to have to remake their product over and over. The waste that these kids cost this business must be ridiculous. INVEST in better training, do something to drive some pride in taking care of customer requests. The best açaí bowl you can get literally ever! Bonzai Bowls is unlike any other açaí place. Banzai always makes their base fresh unlike other places that have the base premade and scooped out as if it were ice cream. Their granola is unbeatable and in my opinion you can't find one better, I wish they sold their granola so people could buy it and make bowls at home. There were a couple people working yesterday and they all had smiles on their faces. It's the perfect beach spot. They have stayed consistent for years with their service and flavor. Not my go-to Banzai place, but was in the area and was craving an Açaí bowl. Portions are huge for the price!! I got the small OG Bowl with apple juice blend and it was really refreshing. We asked if their apple juice blend or hemp milk blend was more popular for the OG bowl and they told us apple juice! It wasn't overpowering with the rest of the bowl so I'd recommend it as well. I did, however, wanted to ask for an extra spoon and stood on the side while the people in the back made eye contact with me and then proceeded to continue what they were doing. Thought about giving one star, but I am Giving three because we have been going here weekly since they opened with my family of six. Spending at least $85 every time we go. I am truly blown away at the staff that works there though. They have no customer service knowledge and are just downright rude. It happens every single time we go. About a week ago I went and there was not one customer in there and 2 employees hanging out in the back area on their phones, laughing. They looked over and saw me and continued their conversation for a few more minutes before coming over. Today, I called in an order. I showed up and again there was no customers and two employees behind the counter. They looked up and saw me come in yet I still stood at the register for five minutes while they slowly made someone's online order. The Female finally walked over to the register and just stared at me and blinked. She didn't say one word to me.. she was almost glaring at me like I did something to her. I told her I was picking up a phone order and all she says is "$14" I handed her cash and she walked away for another couple minutes before she finally went into the fridge where it was already made, set it on the counter, and walked away to stand in the back and talk to the other boy working. This literally happens every single time we go in. My mind is blown at these teenagers working. The owner really needs to watch the cameras and see how people are being treated! This Banzai Bowls service is terrible. I've been coming here for years and have always had problems with long waits and receiving the wrong order. Today, I ordered online and when I was coming to pick it up, they said they received my order and payment but but there printer hadn't been working so my order slip was never put in line to be made. The girl at the counter wrote down my order and said she would make it first but after waiting 45 minutes, I went and asked about my order. The guys making the bowls said they never received my order from the girl at the counter and had to make it for me right then.
