Had to stop by since it keeps popping up on my social media feed. I'm not too sure how i feel. It's not mind blowing yummy, but it's not bad either. I got the strawberry guava bowl, just to try out banana soft serve. The first few bites was delicious, then as it starts to melt, it reminded me of banana baby food. The girls were super sweet and happy so that made the experience better. Even though it was close to closing they were still cheerful. read more

AMAZING!! I loved loved loved this sweet treat! My little sister is a bit of a health nut so after some research on yelp, she found this little shack and decided to come give it a try. We came after a long beach day and it was the perfect sweet treat. Parking was a little bit of a challenge but we found a nearby parking structure and paid $8 for parking. Located in a little walkway, this is a cute little hidden spot located to some neat surfboards. The workers are so nice and friendly which added to the pleasant experience. I opted for the bowl of the Chocolate Macadamia Sundae and it was GOOD. The perfect sweetness without all the sugar from regular ice cream. An absolute DREAM. I am still craving this! In addition to the banana ice cream, the chocolate chips, coconut bits and macadamia gave the ice cream a nice bite and added depth to the ice cream. :) PLEASE OPEN A STORE IN LA. My sister made her own little creation and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only con I would say is the price. The two bowls of ice cream cost us $30+ which is a bit extravagant. read more

The fresh tropical fruit toppings paired well with the banana-based soft serve, and it felt like a fitting snack for Hawaii rather than just another ice cream stop. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the presentation was great. That said, after hearing so much hype, my expectations were probably set a little too high. I recently visited Banan and I wish I had tried something else or maybe visited more times because the ice cream I had wasn't too good. I ordered the tropical bliss, they were out of papaya so we added strawberries instead and guava sauce. The actual soft serve is not bad, but I wish it was a little more flavorful. The guava sauce was terrible, we did not like it at all. The fresh fruit is such a good add to the dessert. Overall, I wish I would've ordered another one to try something different. loved this spot when we we're in Waikiki , wish we had this spot in Los Angeles. The texture was amazing and the add ons were delicious only negative is the fact that they wouldn't allow me to sample the mac butter it costs 2.5 dollars to add on to the bowl and i wish i could try it before paying so much to add it to the bowl Overall loved the flavor of the soft serve though! read more

I ordered a pineapple yacht because of all the buzzy advertising Banán has for it, and it is definitely something to try at least once. The banana ice cream was delicious (I love banana), and I also loved the accompanying pineapple, strawberry, papaya, shaved coconut, puffed quinoa, and honey! (The puffed quinoa was a revelation, something I would like to replicate at home.) There was also the extra challenge of trying to scrape the pineapple in the pineapple bowl, but at that point, one starts to look a little too hungry. Banán is in a high foot traffic area, and the pineapple yacht itself is a spectacle to behold. I know I was the envy of many tourists on that day. read more

Why don't we have this state side? Came here after dinner for a sweet treat, and it was soooooo worth it. Banana soft serve was so fresh and good. Loved that it was just legit banana vs artificial flavoring. Got it with Mac nuts, honey, chocolate chips and coconut, as well as this Mac nut paste thing. So bomb. The açaí bowls were a delicious breakfast to eat on Waikiki beach just a hundred feet away. Everything tastes super fresh and the blend of ingredients makes it a hearty meal. I was so full I couldn't even finish! My girlfriend and I definitely could have shared it and been satisfied. So refreshing and delicious. Their acai bowl is one of the best on the island. The blue spirulina blends with the acai and freezes up just enough to create an amazing icy texture kind of like an affogato. The Mana smoothie is also a favorite of mine. I love that there's no added sugar and the base is just bananas. The toppings are generous, and the fruity sauces are really good, especially the mac nut butter. The texture of the banan was smooth and soft, basically like traditional soft serve. The toppings on the chunkadelic went very well with the soft serve and did not overpower any flavors. The macadamia nut honey butter added great flavor and was definitely one of my favorite toppings with the other being the dark chocolate chunks. Even though the toppings were good, the soft serve was not as sweet as I was expecting. When I blend bananas at home it usually comes out sweeter but it was a bit more bitter, and the flavor was kind of confusing at times, but the ingredients tied it together overall. The flavor was overall pretty good! The place also had a nice vibe and is a nice photo op with all the surfboards by the shack. The menus and aesthetic are vibrant and bold. The staff were very nice and allowed substitutions, and the wait wasn't too bad at all. read more

I'm not the biggest fan of bananas, but it anything it helped me feel less guilty of indulging in desert knowing that it's just banana. I'm pretty sure the only thing I really need to do is embarassingly admit that I came here three times in one week. The banana "ice cream" here is literally something I dream of now. The best part is everything that they have is dairy free (including the chocolate chips and chocolate sauce!) he said everything was vegan except the honey so load up those toppings! I was honestly hesitant because I don't normally like "fruit based ice creams" but in a pinch (because I couldn't find any other dairy free ice cream near by) I "settled". Then I returned the next day and the next. It is ADDICTING! And it's food you can feel good about because it's all plant based without any additives. It was the perfect treat for a hot day because it was super refreshing and full of tropical flavor. I've been craving it ever since we got back home to Illinois. Such a hidden gem in Waikiki and I mean it's literally so hidden! We couldn't even find on Apple maps very well but saw it was by the surf board alley. They were about to close when we got there but they still served us thankfully. The employee explained the popular menu items. I really like how it's vegan and theres no dairy! The flavor was very unique and was very sweet. Although there was honey drizzled on top, it still felt there was honey infused in the ice cream. You can find their stand as you're walking to the beach via the alley access. It's located near where all the surfboards are kept. Friendly service and quick. No seats available. I ordered the pineapple yacht. It's the banana soft-served in a pineapple and topped with pineapple, papaya, strawberries, and shaved coconut. There's no dairy or added sugar in their soft-served. My only issue was this was hard to find while walking around in Waikiki. Save yourself some trouble- this is in an alley next to Cheesecake Factory, with lined up surfboards and goes to Waikiki beach. Banan was great- especially since it has no added sugar in icecream, only the banana. I tried the lilikoi and it was flavorful- many tropical flavors. read more

Easy to miss this spot amidst the bustle of the city but it's in the alleyway marked with surfboards and leading to the beach. We got their tropical flavour which comes with a banana soft serve and bunch of toppings - pineapple, lilikoi, macadamia nuts, mango. The soft serve in itself is too sweet.. the first few spoons were alright and then I couldn't finish it. The banana flavour is overpowering so if you are someone who doesn't enjoy banana, it's good to skip! The toppings were alright - lilikoi was too tart and the macadamia nuts were tooo many and not really going well with the other fruits. History

Established in 2015.

Started by four childhood friends who grew up together in Hawai’i. At the ripe age of twenty-two, we stumbled across a silly machine that turned bananas into ice cream. We were blown away by how simple, tasty and refreshing it was. It felt like you were eating ice cream but you knew it was as healthy as eating a banana – we loved it! We saw an opportunity to support local agriculture and maybe inspire its growth. We currently work with banana farmers to do exactly that but still have lots of work ahead of us. We hope you agree how tasty and refreshing bananas turned into ice cream can be!

Their ice cream is made in house so theyre able to get some pretty great flavors on their menu. The shop is small, but the staff is always helpful. Theyll allow you to sample some flavors if youre unsure of its crazy name! The triple scoop sampler comes on a perfect little serving plate. Easy for sharing. Since this ice cream shop is located in chinatown, parking isn't the greatest at times. There is no designated parking for this ice cream shop but you can hopefully find nearby street parking or go to a nearby parking garage. It's easiest if youre just on foot. All in all, definitely an ice cream parlor worth trying out!

I did have an upset moment because my gps said I would get to Asato's at 1:58 so mentally I decided "I guess I didn't need it". But... lucky for me, traffic was in my favor and there was no delays, no red lights, and a parking space right out front so I got out of the car at precisely 1:55! Whew, I checked in and ran inside, excited that I made it. Also, super happy they were not sold out. You know I also cannot just get 1 pint. I took home 2 Pumpkin Custard, a Strawberry and candied ginger (which i got for mom so she doesnt get mad that I restocked the freezer). I did a purse grab and go so fast I did not notice the duchess status until going back to the car! So woohoo! My hubby not so much because he prefers more cream in the mixture or ice cream. A personal preference for him. More for us. Hahahahaha! There are weekly rotations for their classic and seasonal flavors now available at Foodland Farms Ka Makana Ali'i and Pearl City. I usually select and buy various pint flavors from Foodland Farms Pearl City. Go early because supply will run low during lunch time or early afternoon pending on the seasonal flavors. Follow them via IG for more deets. My son decided to grab a random flavor from our home freezer, Super Li Hing. Without checking the freezer, I asked son, "Did you eat a few scoops or the whole pint?" He responded, "I ate the whole pint." He added, "It reminded him of eating shave ice." I will accept this as a gracious compliment. I mean, I'm all about dessert before a meal. In my experience, it is always a challenge to eat Halo halo because it's filled to the top. My strategy: take off the cover (if it's not overspilling: if it is, skip this step), eat some of the ice cream, and take a few sips! It looks like a production kitchen in the back with freezers upfront labeled with the contents. $2.50 per tiny cup. They have larger sizes too but we just had lunch. No other words but OMG!! Banan is officially one of my favourite places to eat at the mall. I was so excited to see it expand to Kahala as it is much closer to where I live. The atmosphere and the overall look to the little Kiosk is very clean cut and beach/wooden vibes. I visited a few days ago and got the Chunkadelic cup which has the delicious mac-nut butter and a golden milk float. No other location has the floats so I was very excited to try it and I was not disappointed. Fair warning though the golden milk does have tumeric in it so if you're not a tumeric lover like myself I recommend the mocha mac nut float with chocolate banan ice-cream! There was a short line but once my order was in it came out so fast and looked so beautiful. Customer service was excellent as always and I enjoy having conversations with the girls that work there. I give it a 5/5 rating but would give 10 stars if possible. Definitely would recommend to anyone trying to find a healthy alternative, non-dairy soft serve. read more

I had the Riss Moore pineapple boat, which was a whole pineapple filled with banana soft serve, granola, strawberries, blueberries, and honey. It was huge, delicious, and Instagram-worthy. We ordered the tropical açaí bowl and honey açaí bowl- both were freshly made with organic açaí base, granola, strawberries, bananas, blueberries, and lilikoi purée! We also ordered the choco holic waffle and original waffle- both had a crisp, golden-brown exterior that made for a good crunch, and a soft, airy, and tender interior! For drinks we ordered the strawberry nana, piña colada, iced caramel latte, and the Waikiki latte. The drinks were spot on and super refreshing! Overall, service was fantastic! Food and drinks were served in a timely manner and enjoyed on their outside patio. Their açaí bowls were some of the best we had on the island!
