I went with the affogato ($8.50) with Kona coffee gelato. I was at a dangerously low energy level that needed as much caffeine as possible in one bite. They pour hot illy espresso over the gelato and the whole thing turns into this rich, melty, caffeinated sweet treat in the best way. Yummy Gelato! So many tasty flavors, but I think the formula might be a smidge off, as the texture is a little more icy than what gelato is supposed to be. We ordered 2 regulars (Oreo cheesecake in a cup, and peanut butter chocolate chip in a sprinkle cone). Both yummy, however the Oreo cheesecake was more cheesecakey than Oreo. They had Strawberry Guava, Kona Coffee, Dragonfruit, Mac Nut, and so much more flavors! The Dubai Chocolate was creamy, and they added the right amount of kataifi, and pistachios. The chocolate was a little bit too dark for me, but that's how it is, and that means they are making the chocolate right! (it's just me guys). I've tried this ice cream shop at a few different locations, and while the ice cream is always great, the customer service has been consistently disappointing. No one greets you or seems interested in helping. On my last visit, I was served a frozen cruffin. This is one of their newer locations in the heart of Waikiki. The interior is airy, bright, and very spacious. Aside from selling delicious authentic tasting gelato, you can expect to find acai bowls, coffee, milkshakes, smoothies, crepes, waffles, and other baked goods here. Stopped by this cute gelato spot in Waikiki and got the regular size (two scoops) in a waffle bowl. I got a scoop of Ube Cookies & Cream and Tahitian Vanilla. The gelato was okay, would've liked a more velvety texture but it satisfied my craving. The waffle bowl had some chewy spots, almost like it was undercooked but flavor was nice. There's no seating inside, but there are a few benches out front to sit and enjoy your treat. The staff were friendly and attentive. So....we got a Gelato, a crepe, and a bowl for 50 bucks. Not great but about what you can expect for Waikiki prices. Despite only one person in line in front of us, we waited 20 mins. Everything tasted good; would normally give a 4 star, "great place for a refreshing snack." But there was one thing, I cannot overlook. It's Waikiki, and there's not a lot of space. This place has a bench with two tables attached to the store front; clearly for customers. And there's only two of them. Both were taken, but during our 20 min wait, one opened up and my son went and sat down at the table about 2 mins before we got our food. 5 seconds later, a dude sits next to him with food from somewhere else and starts eating at the table. Pretty weird. So my son, who's 13, is weirded out, and gets up and leaves. And this is not a large table. It's maybe 2.5 feet long, only a bench on one side, and can comfortably sit two adults that really love each other and don't mind being very close, or two kids. My wife alerts me to the situation and when I go take a look outside, I realize that the dude is an employee of the Gelato place, in uniform, likely on a break. I've worked in food service and I've been a shift worker, and I know that employees gotta eat somewhere on their break. But when a customer is sitting at one of your TWO tables, even if it's a kid, it's not a good idea to take that table. read more

I stopped by IL Gelato Waikiki excited to try a few flavors, but the experience was ruined by a very rude young asian female employee (I didn't see her name). When I politely asked if I could sample two flavors, she rolled her eyes, acted visibly annoyed, and handed the samples to me while facing away. I even asked her if they don't usually offer samples or if something was wrong, but she ignored me and continued mumbling under her breath while rolling her eyes again. At that point, my husband and I decided to leave. It's disappointing to see such unprofessional behavior, especially in a tourist area where hospitality should be a priority. My brother and I each got large cups of Gelato, with Large you get 4 scoops and can have up to 4 different flavors. I got Matcha green tea, Minnachato and Chocolate covered Strawberry. My brother got Strawberry guava, pineapple and mango. All flavors were incredible. The staff was nice and respectful, and the shop was very clean. You can also sample flavors. I opted for the choco dipped strawberry gelato in a small cup. This stuff is dense so a small cup is all I needed. The flavor was fantastic. Inconsistent.......we love(d) this place. But, since the name change, and I'm guessing owner change things are very inconsistent. Most recently my daughter ordered a waffle. Nine people got their orders before her and then the waffle was only partly cooked. It was gross and she threw it away. You can tell it's always new staff and they aren't sure of the processes. It makes lines long and clumsy. Fingers crossed they can tighten things up and get staff trained better. read more

Visited here all week. Selections are awesome. Suggestions by crew member was the best. The flavors balanced together to make the creation to a wonderful treat ending each night during our vacation.
