They were so kind to me when I last picked up! Our family had a large order at the end of their shift, so large they had to place part of my order in a box. I believe the owners were nice enough to carry it to my car, and when I tried to tip them (it was a large tip too) they wouldn't take it, just wanted me & my family to enjoy the food and the rest of the night. I will continue ordering from them! I enjoyed the Mapo Tofu, I love their egg drop soup (with a splash of soy sauce) and their vegetable & rice soup for something light & refreshing. When we first walked in we noticed how clean the restaurant was and they have both tables and booths. They are also kid friendly and have booster seats and high chairs. They have a coke fountain drink machine and you can get soda water here too which I love and prefer to drink. The menus are all digital and there are lots of great food options. You can choose from fried rice or steamed rice with your entree, we also got an egg roll with our meal... there are several options to choose from... and you get a bowl of soup... also several soup options... you can see them all listed on the menu board pictures. My husband ordered the Mongolian beef with fried rice, an egg roll, and wonton soup. I ordered the Sesame Chicken with steamed rice, an egg roll, and Hot & Sour soup Everything we had was delicious and well seasoned! The meat was chewy in a good way due to the coating. The meat itself melted in our mouth very easy. We will be back again to try something else! I definitely recommend giving this place a try! read more

If you place a phone order, add an hour to the time they tell you it'll be ready in. I placed a phone order at 5:08pm. They told me 15 minutes, it was one item. I arrived at 6:10pm, fully aware my food would be cold and I was fine with that. I was in a rush, needing to be somewhere at 6:30. I arrive, and they tell me 10 more minutes. I told them to forget it and just cancel my order. An hour and 10 minutes for a medium order of chicken vegetable? Very disappointing and now I don't get dinner tonight. We moved to Bartlett, IL 2 months ago and have gotten food from at least six Chinese restaurants, but Bao Gourmet is the best. I ordered Kung Pao Tofu and, lo and behold, the vegetables were crispy, the tofu was soft (not rubbery), and the sauce was balanced. I had brown rice with it, and it had actual flavor, not just color. My husband had pork fried rice and liked it very much. We will definitely be returning in future. read more

I would give this place 3.5 I was able to dine in. The place is a bit narrow but it's actually pretty roomy and nice inside. They have booths and tables available. I don't know why but I always look up at every restaurant's ceilings lol Their ceiling has this cool wooden thingie that has lights hanging down from it. I thought it looked unique. They require you to wear a mask and you place your order in the front and they bring it out to you in containers, disposable plates and utensils. All in the bag. Which is nice because everything is set up to pack and go. Less contact going back and forth :-) Their smoothies are very affordable. Makes you want to grab 2 lol I ordered sweet and sour pork and general tso chicken. Both came out hot with a side of steamed rice. The sweet and sour pork was alright. Not too different from other places. I enjoyed the general tso chicken more though. That had a lot of flavor in the sauce and the meat was tender and juicy. Also order their pork buns but I wasn't too impressed. Luckily, they didn't cost too much. Tasted more sweet to me like a dessert and I could hardly taste the pork. The pork was a little too pureed for me. Service was awesome, wish I caught her name. I definitely trust her handling my food lol The portion may not be a lot but the price reflects that. I visited here once as it was located in the Bartlett area, but was disappointed. There are a lot of options but the vegetables and tofu is not really that well cooked and the flavors were not good. We ordered Bao last nite for our son and his daughters birthday, everything was wonderful, pot stickers were huge, beef in gravy was tender and very flavorful, bbq lo mein was delicious along with the biggest shrimp i have ever had from a restaurant in the chefs special honey walnut shrimp. We order carry out. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Food is always well made and ready for pickup cashew chicken has plenty of cashews, loaded with veggies, and the sauce is delicious. General Tsos chicken is crispy and flavorful. I wish restaurants here would do the crab Rangoon's in tempura batter but, alas, haven't found one yet. That being said, the crab Rangoon is good, as is the pot stickers. Always a nice bag of sauces and cookies too. Great value for the money and leftovers for lunch! read more

On our village's Facebook page, residents have often asked for recommendations for local Chinese restaurants and often I saw Bao Gourmet Restaurant being mentioned. We tried it today for the first time and 100% satisfied. We placed our order on-line and the website was very user friendly. Ordered beef egg foo young. It was ready for pick up at the time we selected. The staff was very pleasant and friendly when we came inside to pick it up. The restaurant was very clean with nice decor. The meal was delicious and great portion size. My favorite Chinese food item is egg foo young and I've tried it at many other local restaurants and none of them tasted as good as Bao's. Website allows you to order ahead before the restaurant opens. However- this doesn't mean it will be ready on time. Had to wait almost half an hour later to pick it up. Was told staff doesn't get there until the store opens which means they prep when the store has opened NOT BEFORE. All orders are therefore pushed back 20-30 minutes later. Disappointed that their website is misleading Once you get your food though, it is good. Well seasoned and good portions. Salt and pepper shrimps were large and crispy. Came to Bao to try it out for my first time. I ordered a couple things. You have to order your food at the register and let them know you are going to dine in. The place looks nice inside. Once you order have a seat whoever you like and they will bring the food out to you. They give you plastic silverware and paper plates and the food comes in small containers. I feel it pricey for the food and once I saw how small the portions are it over priced for so little food. The egg rolls I don't recommend the taste is really hard a lot of cabbage. The Mongolian chicken, sesame beef were alright the shrimp fried rice was good but they use large shrimp and give you about six of them. read more

Did an online order for $85. It took an hour and 30 minutes to get the order. Everything was cold and my BBQ pork fired rice was missing. Called and they were apologetic and said we will send it right away. 40 minutes later, no pork fried rice. Called them and said it was there, so I still want it?? I said no I want a refund. Bao's Siu Mai dumplings get 5 stars however their egg foo young was ruined because whomever made this hasn't a clue how to make good gravy. When making homemade gravy starting out with the roux it is important when you add the flour to your meat juices, drippings, oil, butter or a tiny amount of stock to cook the flour before adding the remaining water or broth. If you don't your gravy will turn out tasting like raw flour and water. Seriously the gravy ruined the egg foo young because it tasted like watery flour. the flour for the Roux must be cooked before adding additional liquid. It only take about 3-4 extra minutes. Also I notice Bao along with most other Chinese restaurants now are very stingy with the meat and the vegetables are mushy not crisp. Bao is not cheap. Disappointed. I did request no sodium however I can make a dynamite gravy without salt so there is no excuse for a restaurant that can't make a good gravy with all the spices out there (Dynasty Chinese 5 spice / pepper / Soy Sauce / Hosin Sauce). The gravy ruined the egg foo young. The chef needs to seriously take a class in how to make a simple good tasting gravy. The gravy / sauce make or breaks a dish. I work at the Oberweis right next to Bao so I order here often. They have some of my family's favorite chinese food near us, one of my favorites being the curry fried rice! Their wonton soup is also one of my favorites and is priced nicely. The staff is always so nice and quick at getting orders out. About a year ago I lost a nose ring on one of the tables and the cashier was nice enough to help me look. The store is always clean and, as someone who is always iffy about bathrooms, Bao's bathrooms have never scared me. They are decorated to be almost like a guest bathroom in a house, making them very comforting to use. The decor as a whole is very homey, and the restaurant has wonderful natural lighting. read more
