Basic looking Chinese restaurant in Bartlett. Golden Bowl is one of the many Chinese restaurants around here and has basic items compared to other places. It happens to be one of those which is only takeout. Gets customers in and out and who would stay here. The prices are too high for portions and quality. Coming in here it wasn't crowded. It's better than it looks. This thankfully wasn't a sign. A pretty big menu with lots of choices. It's about $13 for an entree. There's limited choices to get for vegetarians. About one choice. I got the Tofu With Vegetables. Comes in a wimpy sauce that isn't hot. There's also baby corn, bok choy, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, and onions. This is the go-to Chinese place for my wife's family, for as long as I can remember (my daughter grew up with this food). They follow the standard suburban Chinese fast-food sterotypes: carry-out only, should use a coupon to get 'something' free, large portions overstuffing the takeout containers, can be very greasy but can feed a large group of people inexpensively, and tries to cover all the styles (Cantonese, Mandarin, Szechuan) but in reality it is one style (Americanized Chinese). This time, we got carryout for the main staples (noodles and rice and soup), since we had the main courses already home-made. Mom's coupon was for free large chicken fried rice (with $25 purchase). Also ordered shrimp fried rice ($11.25), large egg drop soup ($4.75), large sweet and sour soup ($5.25), and order of house pan fried noodles ($11.25). All the portions were large, and more than enough to feed 6 adults. The taste was fine. One thing to note is that for their pan fried noodles, they use a thin type of chow mein...we haven't been able to find another restaurant that uses this style...whenever we've ordered pan fried noodles, it is thick and crunchy (see La Choy brand) and expect the sauce to soften it. we have ordered frequentl, but this last experience was awful, food took over 45 minutes to be prepared, was greasy and cold. Also, the staff on duty was aloof and didn't seem to care about quality or the fact that if you use your "discount" on the General Tsao you don't get any white rice. The Golden Bowl has become our go-to for cheap Chinese food near the house that serves up hearty quantities and doesn't lack in the quality department. It's a carryout place set at the back of large, but not quite thriving strip mall. It's two minutes from my house and I am constantly wishing for a boost of life back into this spot. The Golden Bowl is a start. Their staff members are quite nice and helpful. They encourage coupons and have even told me where to find them from time to time. The portions are large enough to share or make multiple meals off of if you will reheat Chinese food. I tend to find their dishes best the first time, so I'm happy to share. Their prices are really reasonable compared to the other Chinese/Japanese/Sushi spot in town. I love the other spot, but my wallet can feel the difference. My only real complaint is that we've ordered meals that come with a can of pop. They always forget the pop and unless I remind my son or husband to specifically ask for it, we usually miss out. read more

If I could rate this place ZERO I would. The worst customer service ever! We ordered food at 6 pm tonight, at 730 I called and they said it left with the driver. At 820 I called again, they said they couldn't find history of our order and he'd call the driver.... called ya back laughing and said he didn't know what happened maybe the driver gave it to the wrong house. And I said ok so now what, and he told me he didn't know, but they're too backed up to remake the food. So when I asked for. Refund on my card he told me to dispute it with the bank. Unbelievable. I order take out from Golden Bowl from time to time. Past dishes I've tried I had no complaints of. This time I ordered walnut shrimp and Mongolian chicken. I really wanted this place to be great! I love the idea of great small mom & pop family restaurants and always am on the look out for new ones to try, support, and patron but unfortunately this place not only failed but they are so expensive. Started with my first attempt at ordering last night 45 minutes before they closed when they picked up and hung up on me. I thought maybe it was a mistake so I called back [Strike 1!] and took 5 rings before someone picked up and just answered "hello" (or what sounded like that in broken English). [Strike 2!] Today I gave them one last benefit of the doubt. I ordered the Honey Walnut Shrimp. A simple dish to make yet they really messed it up. First off that's all the guy at the counter was a total D!#& with nasty energy, I ordered and the bill was $17...... Holy smokes! For one dish? I stayed calm and was thinking this comes in a dinner portion only so maybe it will be a big dish?! NOPE! Tiny portion, tasted sour, extremely watery, over priced, and the complete experience was enough! Never again. I rather go to Panda Express (sadly). Golden bowl is two minutes away from my house, but I will never go back again after tonight. My husband usually orders for me off the app and is able to modify my order perfectly fine. Tonight I called in and ordered a dinner special that I get all the time but with no meat. Just vegetable lo mein and vegetable fried rice without egg, and I asked if I could substitute spring roll instead of egg roll since eggrolls have meat in them. How hard is that? They called me back after I ordered and I was told the chef won't modify my order at all. I said my husband literally orders it that way all the time and they make it for me, but they simply replied the chef won't make modifications like that. The world does not revolve around meat eaters, eating meat is not healthy for you. Eating meat causes cancer. Why are you punishing the people who are trying to eat healthy? Don't you know we are living through a pandemic and it's important to eat your vegetables to keep up your immunity. But you're going to punish me for being a vegetarian? First of all I ordered Beef with broccoli and got some kind of chicken that had more bones and tendons than meat and 2 pieces of the broccoli that was like trying to bite into a spare tire. My husband recently moved to Bartlett and have tried a few of the local and seemingly beloved Chinese restaurant and haven't been impressed. Well.we were very impressed with our meal tonight. I ordered at the restaurant and the young lady who waited on me was friendly and helpful. My meal was made very quickly. We ordered crab rangoon (good), kung pao chicken (excellent ) and sesame chicken (the best we have ever had). Everything was fresh not too salty or sweet. We received a free fried rice and it was ok but since it was free it was fine. Even the white rice was light a fluffy as opposed to oily and dense. We will be back for sure. read more

When i got upset about it, their solution credit me half of the second charge. A huge black crawly bug in my white rice! And they charged me an additional 1.5 times after a week of this headache i finally just had my bank reverse all charges. I never received an appology let alone a refund. I had a standard order of $40 dollars of Chinese food. After an hour of waiting for my food to arrive I called to find out what the issue was. My food was still there sitting not delivered. I had called to have my order cancelled as I was not interested in getting cold Chinese food as it would have been an hour and a half before they finally arrived if they left immediately. After telling them this they still insisted on delivering my food. At this point I kept reiterating that I was not interested in cold Chinese food and would like my order cancelled and refund to my credit card. Bad.....the Mu Shu Chicken tasted like it had been burned. The serving of pancakes was very generous. Unfortunately, they were either stale or over heated. More than half of them broke when picked up. Rolling them was impossible & the dish couldn't be eaten as intended. This was the first time ordering from them & will probably be my last.
