I attended the 16 hours class on 12/14/23. Frazier is very thorough and challenges you until YOU get it and YOU understand what he teaching you. He is prior Military and it's evident in his character. I appreciated his approach and his style, as you will be captivated while actually learning something. I'm 69 years old and have had and used firearms since I was 10 years old. I know a lot and have trained many times in firearm use and workings. I practice a lot and know the laws which Frazier picked up on. I stayed a while after the class and we talk our gun history and sorts. I had signed up for chemical agent pepper spray training as a security officer. This company makes it to sign up ready for any training. Frazier the teacher is military like very through. His tests are simple as well as informative. I gave 3 stars because I disliked the way he spoken to me and another person in his class. All he did is scream and talk loud which makes me nervous I hate loud talkers. Maybe he us hard of hearing but you cant ask any questions without him yelling " Didn't you read my book!??" Best training I have had he makes you read, understand and comprehend under some pressure. I always feel more confident in my job after attending one of his refresher classes knowing I will be able to do a better job. I have never had any issues with his type of training and know he does it to make me better at my job. I came to Baptist because I'm getting ready to head to the police academy and have very little structured shooting experience and want to get a leg up on what's to come. I took his beginner pistol class with my own pistol. His entire program completely exceeded my expectations. His teaching style, from the classroom to the range is straight forward and easy to absorb. He takes the time to make sure you understand everything presented to you. The range time was the right amount of challenge and extremely varied. Even though I was probably a fumbling buffoon of a newbie I was able to easily grasp and execute the exercises. When I would make mistakes he wouldn't make me feel like an idiot but simply help me correct the issue and build upon the right skill set. Not to mention he made it fun. My last (and first) structured shooting experience, I left feeling very discouraged, dismayed and concerned for my shooting ability. Pros : -Super basic & easy course -Will get you what you need -Convienent, fast (close by in vacaville) Cons: (Classroom) W/ 6-8 people -Screams, curses, and yells the entire time. -Always thinks he's right, doesnt care what you have to say. -Belittles everyone who does something wrong. -Very limited knowledge on actual Laws and self defense scenarios (have heard better) - Talks negatively about other instructors and how he does it better (in his opinion) After being disrespected the entire time, I pretended to not understand the basic calendar he placed in front of me, to see how far he would go.. he cursed every word in the bible, said to me "You latinos/Mexicans just nod your head to agree but not value what I'm saying." I'm neither of those races and when I politely asked for help, he denied helping me, told me to shut the f up, don't speak, just write the number in the GD box. Again, I politely asked for help because I didn't understand and he blew up on me yet again. I was cool, calm, and kept my bearing the whole class. (Shooting Range) -The most unprofessional and worst Range Safety Officer I've ever seen. - Screams, curses, and yells at you while holding a loaded weapon. - Doesn't holster his weapon. Slaps it on safe and waives it around. - Snatched my loaded gun out of my hand because I shot my course of fire incorrectly and while I was firing I blocked his hand away because he shouldn't unsafely reach for my weapon while firing when all he needs to do is say cease fire and verbally correct me. (I did not compromise safety at all) - His tactics for protection are unrealistic and unsafe. In my opinion, I can understand why new individuals think he is super knowledgeable. With my years of training and experience, he does provide basic knowledge but not well enough for me to say he's a good instructor. I'd pay the little extra money and distance to train in Sacramento with legit folks like Wesley Lagomarsino, Kagwerks, and Goruck who have actual experience. I have been going to BST for almost 2 years now, and have nothing but good things to say. I go to BST solely to update my qualifications for CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) on a quarterly basis. BST is extremely professional and somewhat out of the box when it comes to his method of instruction. Frazier (BST instructor) challenges his students to train proficiently and out of the norm. I just went here to get/renew my firearm permit yesterday and this was the first time I've been there. Baptist was recommended to me from someone who works at Loomis so I did some research on BST and read the reviews people left here on Yelp. You see a lot of people are complaining on how he runs his class and blah blah blah but to me it sounded interesting. I'm one to find out things for myself so I booked an appointment and went. Speaking for me only but I liked the way he handled everything. He's Blount no doubt about it but that's the way it should be. I'm old school so tell me the way it is and don't sugarcoat stuff.
