I actually had to walk out at one point because my ears felt like they were going to explode. I know they had a sound guy there, but the place is SO small, maybe not the best venue for a punk band. Ha! The barback here was so well dressed and sweet. Bartender was quick and friendly. Cocktails and wine selections are very meh, but I had a whiskey and that worked out for me. Lots of high top tables, a decent amount of seats at the bar, and a pool table. There is also a small patio if you want to hang outside. The Maui Sugar Mill is in a strip mall, so plenty of parking available!

Most people contribute to a pot luck feast that spans the wide world of food, from hot dogs and chili to baked ziti, tacos, meatballs, fried chicken, Chinese food, and on and on -- including some amazing homemade clam chowder from Mike The Mailman. Bartender Natalie did an amazing job of handling the busy crowd with speed and smiles. There were a couple of other staffers on site to watch the game, and they jumped in when she needed a hand with this or that, but for the most part Natalie captained the bar single-handedly for the duration. Kudos to her. It's true, Super Bowl only comes once a year, so other game days don't have the pot luck feast -- Sugar Mill doesn't have a kitchen, though they're happy to have you bring in whatever food you like and eat it there. Food aside, the crowd and the service are always just what you want, making it the perfect place to relax into at game time as Basketball enters the home stretch and baseball steps up to bat.

I got lucky with one on the corner but my friend had to park blocks down. Now i don't want to say she was being rude for the sake of it. It could be cause she's the only bartender handling a whole restaurant with no help and getting frustrated. One one occasion ordering with 2 other people who got food and drinks i said oh no drinks for me. And she took that as no food and started going to take someone else's order until i said hey i want food and she acted like i was holding her up from taking the other persons order telling them to be patient as if she needs to get over there. Never got my glass of water she was supposed to bring until i went back to the bar and paid for bottled water. Anytime i went to the bar i felt like i was burdening her lol. When i went back to order a burger after only ordering a salad prior i could only hope she wasn't mad that i was back up there. Karaoke on Thursdays happen here. A pool table. I hadn't been here in 2 yrs and would probably only come back knowing what to expect service wise

Everything seems to be house or handmade. Doesn't seem like they use anything out of the freezer like chain restaurants do. Such a cool vibe. So many TVs for all the sports. It's a small place and the decor didn't really feel like it matched the vibe, and the karaoke set-up was not very good. It was really hard to hear the backing music, even when you were the one singing, but this isn't the type of place that you come to "perform" for karaoke like a lot of other places in LA. It's very casual and low-pressure. Song choices were all over the place (which isn't necessarily a good or bad thing). Late night happy hour menu was decent and they offered it from 9pm on that night, and the place did get packed to standing room only. I had a hard time finding info on what their happy hour was before we went, so I took a picture to share. This was on 2/6/2026. The bartender, Brian, was very friendly, but I realized when looking at the emailed receipt afterwards that he switched one of my sibling's drinks on my tab, and I'm assuming mine got put on theirs. We have the same last name, so I understand the mix-up, but it would have been nice if he just asked about who was who instead of assuming, and it also would have been nice to see an itemized receipt before paying instead of just seeing the dollar amount we owed. Not a huge deal this time, just something that I hope they will keep in mind in the future. For food, my partner was able to get a pizza from a place across the street and bring it back into the bar, and Brian was kind enough to offer extra napkins. For other people with back problems, be aware that their bar stools do have back rests on them, but no cushions. We had a good time, and this bar seems to host special events regularly, which we may go back for eventually if the right one comes up, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back here.

Deal with the Devil is my favorite IPA here. Ordering is easy, just go to the bar, place your order (check the paper menus by the register first), open a tab and they'll give you a number to put on your table. Wait for your food to arrive and enjoy! Don't forget the beers! For food, our go to is always their pizza (check out the cheese pull in my photos) and fougasse. Our kids love the pizza and plain curly fries. Chicken wings and their Caesar salad is good too! We miss the panna cotta they used to have. They were delicious! The cookies are a good substitute for that sweet craving after a meal. Parking can be difficult and stressful at times to find a spot. You'll have to drive around to find one. They have parking in front of the brewery, but it's VERY limited. We Uber with friends and family sometimes to avoid the stress of finding parking. Staff is always kind and always there to make suggestions on the beers they serve. Don't forget to take a photo in their photo booth before you leave! For $7, you'll be able to take 3 photos and the machine will print two copies for you. Awesome souvenir that you and your partner will be able to take one home!

Good brewery to chill at but parking can be hard to find…read more I came to hang out with some friends on Sunday afternoon. It wasn't busy when we arrived around 3:30 pm, though by the time we left it was packed around 6 and there was a line to order drinks at the bar. They have a parking lot but it's really small, so your best bet is to find street parking. However, I'm not sure why but there was barely any street parking available. I got lucky as someone was leaving right when I drove up, but my friend wasn't so lucky and circled around for 15 minutes before he found parking. The brewery has two sides of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. It was way too hot to sit outdoors when we came, but we were able to easily find a spot on the left side. I assume they have bands performing here sometimes, as there was a whole set of drums plus a mic on the stage. All their beers are clearly listed on the wall at the bar, plus there's a limited selection of cider and wine as well. I had a light lager called the Van Ice ($8 for 16 oz). I'm generally not a huge beer fan and prefer lighter beers that aren't bitter, so this was perfect for me. In general, I think everyone liked their beers. My friend got a really interesting one called the White Rascal that was a little bit sweet. I've never tried a beer like it before. We also ordered some food to share. We got the cheese bread ($6) as well as two pizzas: birria ($20) and bbq chicken ($18). The pizzas were thin crust. I personally liked the bbq chicken more (minus the pickled onions), but both were good. They also offer a hump day special on Wednesdays (their version of happy hour I guess?) from 4-7, where you can get $3 off their in-house beers and $3 off garage cans (assume that means canned beer). That seems like a good time to check them out.

When we walked in we were definitely out of place and a bit taken aback. There was a soccer match on featuring Team Mexico. Everyone in the place was fired up and into the game. We thought we had found yet another sports bar, boy were we wrong! We tried to find a small place to sit and stay out of the way. As soon as the staff saw that we had no idea what we walked into they went out of their way to find us a table that could hold our party. They made sure we were taken care of at every turn in the road. They made sure we knew we were welcome. The entire bar embraced us as we joined the cause cheering for Team Mexico. IT WAS AWESOME! We are all still talking and texting about how we can't wait to go back. The service was outstanding. The vibe was amazing. The food was great. The prices were fantastic. I am not the world's biggest soccer fan but if I were watching any World Cup game featuring any team, this would be my spot! Family owned. Family operated. Family recipes on the menu. I highly recommend the buffalo wings. Can't wait to go back! You have a lifelong loyal customer!
