Went to this spot to celebrate a friend's bday. While the drinks were a little underwhelming, the service and food was on point. Definitely a cute neighborhood spot that you can go to before heading for a night out in Manhattan. Just wished the drinks were better.

We had a great Valentine's Day meal here for around 125 per person not including drinks, tax and tip. They added an amuse bouche last minute as I didn't recall seeing it in on the initial menu. The gnocco frito was much appreciated! The space was huge and we were granted the best people watching seat in the house with a table that can fit a party of 6+. We really felt like we got the royal treatment. The night was full of couples celebrating around our age. The avg age appeared to be mid twenties to late thirties. We enjoyed our first course. My partner got the oyster and I was able to get a cooked crab dish. They were able to make an adjustment to the menu when we asked a few days ahead. Both were really good. We got the gnudi and the agnolotti. I loved the agnolotti and the gnudi. Lastly we had the salmon and the duck which were both done very well By the time dessert came, we were already very satiated. But happy to have a taste of the chocolate cake. Everything was so good so I think dessert was probably our least favorite.

The food was good, and the restaurant is beautiful but the service was a little strange

Bar56 is an enchanting and accessible spot just over the bridge is a solid space to enjoy tartare and a beautiful red wine to pair with it. The lighting is dim and reads as 'date night' and would love to come back for one. Tai was a great bartender and recomended the Wine Tensley (A Red Blend) which was perfection. Thank you Tai - your awesome!

This place checks all the boxes - fresh pasta, nice drinks, great food, impeccable service and the vibes are great. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share which definitely was the way to go. So many standouts - the tuna was incredible, is the ravioli (singular) and all of the pastas were outstanding and made fresh. We sat in a big booth for 5 of us which was nice. It's right across the walk from St. Ann's and short walk to subway. I can't wait to come here again - yum!

WOW! What an absolute hidden gem in DUMBO! I cannot believe this place wasn't completely full. Maybe it was the time of day we went. Either way, DO NOT SLEEP on this place! Came here with a friend (who seemed to know everyone who worked there due to frequenting the place) for dinner, and I can see this being a good place for a romantic dinner as well or even a large group. Everything we tried was ridiculously good: Potato Croquettes Hiramasa Crudo Tuna tartare Ravioli al Uovo - to die for, do not miss Orechiette And for dessert the strawberry rhubarb panna cotta was one of the best things I've ever had. Overall, would definitely come back here!!!

Quaint spot nestled in Dumbo, next to the Time Out Market (Brooklyn). Found this spot while looking for a nice restaurant in the area for a date night dinner. We enjoyed a couple dishes on their menu and enjoyed each bite. Started off with their bread service, had the Cappellacci as an appetizer, and shared the Sakura Pork and Branzino for our main. Almondine Bread: Their bread service, not cheap nor expensive, started the meal right. Served with Vermont butter, the toasted and warm sourdough and baguette were also great vessels for scooping up any sauces from our other dishes. Cappellacci: This pasta dish blew us away. Buttery and rich but smooth and well-balanced from the balsamic reduction. The portion was bigger than we would have assumed - can definitely be ordered as a main. Sakura Pork: The pork was well-seasoned (albeit a bit salty for my preferences) and juicy. The pickled vegetables on the side was amazing - great change of flavor profile and crunch. Branzino: Our favorite dish of the night. The Branzino was perfectly cooked. The meat was plump and moist; the skin was nice and crunchy. The broth/sauce was surprisingly refreshing - which we did not expect. The spinach and thai basil made it refreshing while the mussels added a brine-y flavor without it being overpowering. All in all, great meal and great atmosphere. Although small and unassuming, food and service were top-notch. This spot is relatively new to the neighborhood (opened July 2023) but looking forward to what more they can bring to the table.

I loved almost everything from my visit to the Bar 56 and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a delicious dinner in the DUMBO area. For drinks, my partner and I shared a bottle of rosé but the cocktail menu had a few drinks that caught my eye. Alas, when in a wine bar, I must choose the wine. For food, we did the pre-fixe and I had the Hiramasa Crudo, Cappellacci, Arctic Char, and Bijou. Although the Artic Char was a miss (it needed more flavor), every other dish was stellar. I'm not a dessert person but the Bijou was my favorite course. Very simple and elegantly plated yet the salty creaminess of the goat cheese combined with the sweet honey and tart apple mustard mixture, blew me away. More restaurants should offer this type of upscale mini charcuterie board as a dessert option. In addition to the food and drinks being great, our service was wonderful. Our server Valentina, gave helpful recommendations for all of the dishes and she was steering me towards the Bijou. She was lovely our entire time and I think it added to how much I enjoyed the energy in the space. I'm elated that I got to try so many delicious dishes here and I will certainly find a reason to come back. AND when i do, my first ordered item will be the Bijou!

Lovely diner at Bar 56. Staff were very friendly their wine selection was excellent and the food was delicious and well executed. I ordered the $85 Pre-Fixe menu. I had the brussel sprouts, lobster pasta, lamb neck and olive oil cake. The plating is beautiful, the chef understands that your eyes eat first. The portions are small but considering the table bread it ends up being the perfect amount. Lamb neck was definitely my favorite but brussels and lobster was so well balanced and flavorful. I think the olive oil cake was good execution wise but Im not the biggest fan of olive oil cake (I did eat it all tho lol). Next time I'll try a different dessert. If you're hanging out or visiting the waterfront in dumbo you can't go wrong with Bar 56!

Had the BEST time here last night with some friends. Every single food and drink item on their menu was just amazing and enjoyable, and the service was super attentive all night. We did the prefixe menu for $85 and I went with the crudo, ravioli, branzino and olive oil cake. I also tried the potato croquettes, the langoustine and cappellacci, and the crème brûlée. Everything was delicious, no complaints from our whole table. I think the langoustine was a stand out dish for sure, as well as the hiramasa crudo. The addition of the basil and blood orange on the crudo was just such a great touch. For $85, it's also a TON of food. I could barely finish my branzino and dessert. 10000% recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Came here after work with a friend and was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was! Located right next to the time out market in dumbo, this place is super chic and cozy. Perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. They have an extensive wine list (56 to be exact) and cocktails/beer. The waitress was super sweet & was able to help me pick the perfect wine once I told her what I usually like. The food is made for sharing (small plates, recommend 2-3 per person) and each one was uniquely delicious. I definitely recommend getting a pasta dish, those were my favorite. We had a reservation but it was relatively empty on a Wednesday at 630 so not sure if that's necessary. They also have plenty of bar seating & I was told a happy hour special from 5-6pm on weekdays. They will surely be seeing me again soon!

Was brought here for a date during restaurant week. Beautiful ambience, dim lighting and excellent service. They also have a wine store, which I walked into first. The entrance to the restaurant was around the corner. We sat at the bar. For starters potato croquettes and tuna tartare. The croquettes were crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside served with speck and salad. The tuna was fresh, the kumquat added a nice sweetness and crunch from the macadamia. Our second course was pasta. I got the cavatelli with pork sausage and broccoli rabe. He got triangoli which was triangle shaped ravioli served with goat cheese, beet and lemon. I preferred his dish to mine. There was way too much sausage in my dish and it was greasy. His dish was balanced, delicious and hit so many flavor profiles. I would order as an entree. Best dish of the night. For our third course I got the Branzino with mussels, saffron and Thai basil. He got the lamb neck served with cauliflower, Vadouvan and aji dulce. Both dishes were great. Branzino was well cooked and the sauce light but flavorful. The lamb neck dish was bursting with so many flavor profiles. For dessert we tried the hazelnut crème brûlée. Crispy top, creamy center. Not too sweet and bursting with hazelnut flavor. Cant remember the name of the cocktails we had. They were well balanced and delicious. After our meal, we sat on the couches by the bar and talked. Great experience. I'll definitely be back.

I am SO glad we did. The vibe drew us in, they had great music bumpin from the outside, it looked lively and welcoming. But let me tell you- their knowledge of wine is PRISTINE! I can't tell you what white wine we had but they captured our tastes perfectly. We also shared a bruschetta and it was deliciouso! First I'll start with the wine - we ended up trying all three happy hour wines (HH until 7), which the tables favorites were the white and we ended up getting a bottle to split once HH ended (but I really enjoyed the other vino verde option). It was incredibly refreshing and paired well with the many tinned fish options. As you'd expect - it's a pretty massive selection and there is bound to be a varietal and glass for any palate. It's also attached to a wine store - so it's fine to see all the bottles when peaking over. Food-wise - this is where it was hit or miss, they have a pretty extensive menu (with a whole tinned fish section!) and we ended up ordering the buratta on focaccia (buratta was excellent, focaccia was too dense for my tastes), mushroom truffle crostini (way too salty), the flatbread with sliced kielbasa (was fine), halloume (table favorite ), tinned sardines in lemon oil (delicious), tinned smoked trout (my favorite). Overall the four of us were very full at the end of the meal! The space itself felt very relaxing and rustic, and definitely got busier as the night went on (we got there at 6:50 and left around 9). The service was also fast and attentive - even for the amount of tables they were serving. Overall - I'd definitely go back again, and maybe just focus on the wine and another tinned fish selection!

Starting with the positives -the banchan was solid across the board and really flavorful. That said, charging for banchan feels strange to me. Traditionally, it's complimentary, like bread at an Italian restaurant so that part didn't sit right but it was flavorful. The chigae was interesting and probably the standout dish. It had a unique flavor that reminded me of a mix between soondubu and dwenjang chigae which worked well. Unfortunately, the rest was a miss. The bossam was overly salty and didn't feel true to the dish. The tteokbokki was another disappointment -it came with cheese (which wasn't expected) and just fell flat overall. For the hype, I expected much more especially because I've eaten Korean food my whole life. The venue is small and the seats in the back are uncomfortable.

First off, the front door is mounted on flimsy plastic hinges, so every time someone opens it, it swings open violently and knocks the vase off the nearby table. The service was somehow even worse. When I was there on Tuesday, May 19th from 8-10 PM, there was exactly ONE bartender working the entire place -- both inside and outside -- and she was unbelievably inattentive. My date and I sat at the bar for TWENTY MINUTES before she even acknowledged us or asked if we wanted drinks. I literally had to call out "Excuse me" just to order a $25 quarter-filled glass of wine. Embarrassing all around. And when we were ready to leave and wanted the check, the female bartender working on Tuesday May 19th from 8-10 PM was busy standing in the corner chatting with someone instead of helping customers. I haven't seen someone move this slowly or care this little since the DMV. TO MANAGEMENT - this was absolutely horrible, embarrassing, and unprofessional service. Clean up your act, and hire a second or even a third bartender.
