We went on the day after Christmas and were seated pretty quick. The host was very nice and friendly. We ordered chicken wings and fries, beef plate special and pork and salad bar. The wings were cold to the touch in the middle, returned them and they came back still cold and new fries. Ended up with a baked potato and salad bar instead. The waitress was very curt and set the plate down with frustration. The salad bar was fair, bake potato was good. The beef plate and pork was good but not great. When checking out the hostess informed us it had been a busy long day and was sorry for the cold wings but she ATE the ones we sent back and they were good. My friend and I ate here on the way back from Largo,Fla. we had a great lunch, bought some great tomatoes from a guy right next to this BBQ and also got a portion of ribs for later. This sauce is PERFECT. Spicy and neck sweating hot...now I'm having a good day, and then there are some ribs involved. I got an old dog , my friends dog, a great old gentleman. but old Flynt is getting shorted on bones cause there was so much meat on these ribs. I found their sides to be exceptional. Nice little restaurant. We went in for dinner during our trip to Florida. Got our drinks quickly she gave us some time to order since we had never been there and accidentally forgot about us for a bit. I was really wanting pulled pork (we're from the Midwest) but they only had sliced. It was still good. The meal was large. My husband had the steak and shrimp meal. He ordered a medium rare and got a rare but that's a normal occurrence lol. He said it still tasted great. The hot sauce wasn't very hot. It may be hot to Florida standards though? We just eat everything hot where we are from. Our waitress was very nice and was attentive. We had a nice conversation about kids and animals and went on our way. Really wonderful little BBQ joint -- good service, home style food and extremely reasonable prices. We had the fried green tomatoes and pork plate lunch specials. The meals came with crispy fries, sweet cole slaw and homemade BBQ beans, plus garlic toast. The pork had a subtle smoky flavor and was sliced thinly and piled high. The iced tea was freshly brewed. There was a salad bar that looked good, but we had more than we could handle with our lunch specials. Overall, a pleasant place to stop and have a meal. Came through today headed home from N. Florida and stopped in about 11:30 for lunch and got a jumbo pork sandwich. The sandwich was well below the standard of what I've experienced at BBQ Bill's in the past. The pork was dry, the bun was stale and hard as a rock. Not sure if I came in too early and was eating leftovers from yesterday but it wasn't up to what I've had before. The salad bar was as good as usual but the sandwich not so much. Looking forward to trying another meal when I'm through again in a couple of weeks. Note: The employee I spoke to about the sandwich stated the neither one of the of "the two bosses" was on premises at the time and that the previous customer before me had made the same complaint. I enjoy going to Bills for Sunday AUCE bbq chicken. You would think AUCE is that. Don't be mislead, they charge you .50 for each additional piece of garlic bread. Chic is free, but bread cost. Latest thing is they ask you if you want a to-go cup like all other restaurants Sure you get one except when you pay your bill they charge you for it but aren't told at the table. This was another stop on my grand stay in Cheifland for work. After checking in to the local Day's Inn (see review), my associate and I were starving and it was gas stations and fast food as far as the eye could see. We saw this and Noodle House as we came in and asked the front desk clerk her thoughts. She immediately advised to stay clear of Noodle House and suggested this place. The first thing we noticed about the place was how cheap the food was. My buddy and I got a huge BBQ sampler with basically every meat they had, 3 sides, and a trip to the salad bar for about $20 each. They do not skimp on the portions here. I'll break things down by my impressions: Meats- Pretty terrible. They were a bit greasy and didn't have that nice smoked flavor. Salad Bar- One of the best fucking salad bars I've ever experienced. Sides- The baked beans were the best I've ever had. Also, this place had the friendliest staff I'd encountered in a while. Overall, the place wasn't bad. It's sad that you stop in at a BBQ place and the best things you have are the salad and sides. If you're ever in Cheifland, give it a try. There's not much to choose from and the price and portions are right, just don't expect BBQ heaven. However, do expect baked bean heaven and you won't be disappointed. read more

Was in Chiefland to enjoy manatee springs state river park. In this small town, you dont seem to have a lot of options. The place is clean and comfortable. You have to try the salad bar. Its definitely the highlight of the place and better than many typical salad bars. The barbecue sandwiches are fine but nothing special about it. They are very small so if you came from manatee springs and you are starving, you will need atleast two of those little sandwiches. In short, although nothing spectacular about this place, I will definitely eat here again if I visit this place. read more

Son & I stopped by on a Sunday for an early dinner. We've eaten here before, but it had been a long while. I ordered the rib plate with bbq beans, mash potatoes and cole slaw. The ribs were dry, the potatoes were NOT fresh, definitely instant! The beans were the worst I've had in a long time. My son got a bacon cheeseburger with mushrooms, onions. First, they forgot to put the mushrooms and onions on the burger, the waitress had to bring them from the kitchen. My wife and I were passing thru and wanted BBQ. We chose this location based upon better Yelp reviews. My wife wanted beef brisket, but unfortunately they did not have that on the menu. However, what they did have was very good and inexpensive smoked pork sandwiches. We decided to go with the salad bar instead of fries or a traditional side. The salad was good, and we have been wanting a switch from just starches. Of course, I did have to go back for dessert (ambrosia, banana pudding, and peaches). With a drink, both of our meals were still less than $20. Service was prompt and very friendly, even after we were equivocating about whether or not to eat here since they didn't have brisket. Visiting Chiefland for the second time and BBQ Bill's for the second time, it does not disappoint! Had the small pork sandwich and it was delicious! Can't believe we've only been to BBQ Bills a few times in 19 years living near Chiefland. I suppose we don't stop in because there are so many other cheaper ---yes CHEAP-- places to eat. Not that Bills really is expensive. We are more on the thrifty side and found other nice BBQ joints and restaurants in town we enjoy. I actually believe it's partially because BBQ Bills is so popular and the parking lot is often overflowing. So I can't knock a place where many RV'ers, bikers, and tourists return year after year and locals dine often. I honestly believe their food is okay. Nothing I actually want to go back for. But everyone has their own taste for BBQ and salads. Considering Chiefland is such a tiny depressing town, it is filled with nice little places to eat. The waitresses were rude, the chicken was raw, and the salad bar was disgusting. This was our first and last time to this restaurant. Worst part was when sent the chicken back, the waitress acted as if she were used it occurring and said, "Im not taking off the salad bar, you ate it." Traveling through Chiefland we stopped at Bar-B-Q Bills. I got the salad bar and it had a lot of choices. I was surprised to see that the lettuce was shredded. You don't see that very often. I am not a huge fan of that. The chicken was flavorful. The beans or homemade and tasty and the coleslaw was good. The sliced pork was good and the portions were large.
