First time we have seen this place in Surfside so it is relatively new. We went for dinner and it was outstanding. The hush puppies with their cinnamon butter are RIDICULOUS!!! Between us all we had the pulled pork, chicken, and kids had the bologna and cheese sandwich. Sides we had were deep fried corn, fries, corn fritters and white cole slaw. Everyone was happy and nothing was bad. Service was good and friendly and we used a coupon from one of the coupon books from here so the price was right too. My husband and I visited BBQ House on our trip to nearby OIB last year and were eager to go back last week when we returned. They did not disappoint! The service is friendly and welcoming and the price is great. The food is very good and the portions are huge. Everything is well cooked, tender and they have 5 different sauce options - all very tasty. The Brunswick stew is amazing, the corn fritters are very good - really everything is great. Fantastic! Can't say enough great things about this restaurant! First time we've been here and I'm sorry we didn't visit it sooner. For $8 each three of us got pork bbq sandwich platters that come with about 4 large hush puppies and 2 sides. We all picked the white cole slaw (you have a choice of 2 different kinds of cole slaw). I got the sweet potato fries and my mother and husband got the regular french fries. Every single bite was heaven! Asked for extra sauce and they were very generous. You also get your pick of sauces. We got the sweet which is the house sauce. So yummy. The sandwiches do not come with sauce mixed in but they are juicy and good even if you don't get sauce on the side. We will definitely go back again and again. They also have other choices but we focused only on the bbq pork! And the amounts they give you are so generous! We were extremely full! read more

My family and I moved to MB last year. First order of business was to filter out the good from the bad bbq restaurants. When we found Bar-B-Que House, you can say...ready?...we were in Hog Heaven! The "Q" is true, the sauces are great, and the side are all fantastic. I had a good feeling when I found out I could get red slaw on my sandwich, a sign of Lexington style "Q" that I crave. I go there at least once a week, sometimes twice. AND, they're gracious enough to offer a Military discount! Thanks for that... us Veterans really appreciate your kindness. Vinegar based sauce = Good Ranch = Delicious. Some places have crappy ranch but the ranch here was creamy and delicious. BBQ Sandwich = Good Hushpuppies = Sad and old, pretty gross. The cinnamon butter that comes with them is delicious Onion Rings = Ok, nothing bad about them nothing good, just average onion rings. Mac and Cheese = Not great, I didn't even finish it and would not order it again. It had a lot of cheese but was tasteless. Banana Pudding = Ok. It was overpriced, almost $3 for a very small portion of banana pudding that included NO BANANAS and nilla wafers on top....none in the actual pudding. It basically tasted like jello banana pudding. Everything was good we shared the grand daddy plate which comes with three choices of meat and two sides. We chose smoked chicken, ribs, and chopped barbecue for our sides red slaw and baked beans. This is the south so I ordered potato salad. Because we like to have leftovers the next day, spicy wings were also ordered. This delicious meal was accompanied with a jumbo sweet tea. The food is fantastic and would have gotten a 5 star rating if it hadn't been for our rude waitress. She barely noticed us when ordering or food, acted like she didn't want to be there and threw the straws on our table. Wonderful smokey BBQ! We enjoyed our lunch here. After being turned off by the look of he place, we entered the recycled fast-food restaurant building. Rebecca, our server, was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with suggestions. We split the large combo platter and we were very happy. As others have said, you couldn't cut the ribs - you didn't need to! We literally pulled the bones out of the meat and pulled it with a fork. It was fabulous! They sort of make a "Switzerland" move with the BBQ sauce - the pulled (chopped) pork comes unsauced and they give you the three traditional Carolina sauces to put on top (Eastern, Lexington, and that gross mustard stuff), along with two more "usual" tomato based BBQ sauces: the house and the spicy house. My family and I vacationed in Surfside two weeks ago and while there my boyfriend and I ate at Bbq House twice!! This was likely the best bbq that I've ever had! Everything was amazing! BBQ was very good and smoky and the cashier was very helpful in assisting us with picking out our sides. Especially since we were unfamiliar with 'red' coleslaw. Our favorite part was they offered a 'family pack' that included BBQ, hush puppies, slaw, another side, and a gallon of tea. It was perfect for taking back to our place and eating on our balcony for dinner. Everything we needed was included including utensils and some kind of cinnamon yumminess that was for the hush puppies. Also, they had 5 BBQ sauces to choose from, so if you're Memphis tomato based, SC mustard based or NC vinegar based, they got you covered.
