The peach cobbler was also a hit with the right amount of consistency and sweentess. The beignets were a pleasant surprise because we had never tried them with honey and after trying it that way, we could be down with it. On the other hand, the shrimp with grits had extremely plain grits and extremely salty shrimp, and mixing them altogether definitely made the dish tasted more balanced but it didn't change the fact that the shrimp was still salty and the grits didn't catch too much of the salt on the shrimp. The fried okra had soggy outer shell. The gumbo was a bit watery and didn't have enough roux, and the rice included was soggy which seemed like it was out for a while and heated up. Aside from food, it was worth noting that we were initially placed on the list and were told that we'd receive a text upon a table ready, and unfortunately we never received one, despite seeing people that came in later getting tables. After we went back inside 30 minutes later to see what happened, they didn't give us an explanation, but managed to get us the next table. This anecdote made us confused when we first sat down, but we decided to no longer worry about what happened and was in a mood ready to dine.

We ate here yesterday, and this was a major disappointment based on food quality and execution. I own and operate a BBQ business, so I don't say this lightly--the brisket was inexcusable. It was badly overcooked, sliced with the grain, and dry and tough throughout. There was no proper fat render, no tenderness, and no balance--just chewy, stringy meat that was unpleasant to eat. These are basic brisket fundamentals that should never be missed in a BBQ operation. What made it even more frustrating was that what we were served looked nothing like the brisket shown on their website. The difference between the advertised photos and the actual plate was drastic. The chicken was dry, even with sauce. The pulled pork came in a large portion, but the meat itself was dry; the sauce helped somewhat, though the minimal amount of slaw wasn't enough to balance it out. The sides showed the same lack of care. The baked mac and cheese, while southern-style, was underseasoned and bland. The green beans tasted straight out of a can, the baked beans were forgettable, and the sweet potato crunch was odd and uninspired. The banana pudding was fine--but nothing memorable. Credit where it's due: the sauces were solid. The sweet Jimmy Ray's and the vinegar sauce were both well done. The sweet tea was also excellent--fresh brewed and properly sweetened. BBQ lives and dies on fundamentals and execution, and this missed the mark across the board. You only get one chance to make a first impression. This one failed. One and done. read more

BBQ is stellar just wish they wouldn't temp you with a plethora of delicious sauces and only give you one ramekin per plate. Then you have to embarrassingly ask for a lid for said ramekin to ensure you're not taking more sauce. I also ordered a large side of onion rings and got a look when I asked if I could get fry sauce for it. I give it 3 stars because the food is awesome but don't tempt people with sauces and most certainly don't make your customers awkwardly ask for lids. I'm in the restaurant business and I thought the customer was always right. Broke my heart a little but I'm not so butt hurt that I won't go back. Just might go elsewhere for a while. Also, I don't mind paying for extra sauce but keep them behind the counter so I don't have to feel like a 5 year old asking for a piece of candy. Tacky. Every bite delivered that satisfying crunch followed by moist, flavorful chicken. It easily ranks among the best fried chicken dinners I've ever had. The meal comes with two sides, but there's one catch: it takes about 30 minutes to prepare. No problem--I happily passed the time with a corn dog as an appetizer. Was that the healthiest decision I've ever made? Absolutely not. Was I smiling the entire meal? Without question. I've been there once before and kinda remembered liking the place and thought they had some funny signage to boot. We got there, walked up the ramp and "waited to be seated". There was one person ahead of us and they had already been there for 5 minutes. The place had some customers but it was still early and far from packed. Well, we waited and waited for a good 10 minutes until we were seated by a friendly hostess who turned out to also be only 1 of 2 wait staff working. I now remembered my last experience here which included good food but a long wait to get seated. We got to a nice, clean booth with a good view of the place and and started to look at the menu as the waitress hustled up a red wine for my dad and a seltzer water for me. When she returned we gave her our order which included a spicy chicken gumbo app for me followed by a three meat plate of smoked turkey, smoked BBQ chicken and ribs for me and a two meat plate of pulled smoked chicken and pulled pork for my dad. I ordered green beans as my side and my dad ordered hand cut fries. After a few minutes the food surprisingly appeared rather quickly. I was expecting a longer wait time because of how long it took to get seated but the food came out fast. It was hot and smelled great. My father commented, saying "they give you a lot of food in this place"...and he sure was right. We dove right in. I started with the spicy chicken gumbo which was spicy, hearty and tasty with bits of smoked sausage and shredded chicken. It was a meal in itself. I then went after the main event and started with the smoked turkey. It had a nice hickory smoked taste but was a tad dry. The chicken was much better. It was moist, smoky and fell off the bone. The BBQ sauce was outstanding with a bit of a kick to it. The ribs were soft, moist and smokey. The green beans were also tasty with hints of pork and a nice smoked flavor. My dad loved his pulled smoked chicken and even liked the pork(he's not a big pork eater these days!). He said it "has a nice flavor" and that it was "great". It was soft, tender and juicy. He loved the fries(always his favorite part of the meal). This was most I've seen him eat in one sitting in quite a while so I know he enjoyed it. We declined dessert as we were both stuffed. By this time the restaurant has become crowded so I asked for the check to open up our booth for other customers The check came quickly and I paid.
