We have been waiting for this spot to open and it did not disappoint. The vibe is very similar to the original Bludorn. Service was great. Everything we ordered was tasty. I recommend ordering multiple dishes and share everything so you get a taste of all the deliciousness. We ordered the ham beignets, small portion of the rabbit pasta and spaghetti carbonara, steak frites (med rare), and ora salmon (rare plus). Third times a charm. Got a reservation last minute on Resy and finally got to try Bar Bludorn. We tried to walk in on two prior occasions, including opening night but were unable to get a table. The restaurant is beautiful. Really cool decor and the vibe is excellent. Might be a little noisy for some. Service excellent. We tried the ham beignets as an appetizer and they were good. We had the rabbit pappardelle and fried chicken as our main courses. Both were very good. The pasta was awesome and our favorite dish. Desserts, we had the chocolate cake and lime in coconut. The lime in coconut stood out. This is not a bar in the sense of chicken wings and pizza. Very upscale location with upscale clientele and prices. Be prepared for beautiful people with fat wallets. I wanted To love this restaurant as much as I love the others, but to be honest this was subpar, Leaning towards ok. This rating is one hundred percent based on food and not service, as the service at the bar was outstanding. I tried the fried chicken, which had mashed potatoes that were overworked, which caused them to be very gummy, and not a pleasant texture. The peanut gravy , as they call it was not fantastic and needed to be workshopped more as the texture and flavor fought with the crispy texture of the chicken. The bluefin tostada also had an odd flavor off. Maybe tamaran, that was overheated to cause a burnt texture on the palette. TL;DR: Big Meh. Came here on a Friday night with reservations. Likely need a res, because the place filled up very quickly (surprising, because again; meh!). Host was pleasant and we (2 of us) were seated at a lovely banquette table, which was very nice. Server was neither friendly, nor knowledgeable. He immediately told us we were expected to place orders for all courses at the same time. I really hate this for several reasons: 1) I like to figure out how much more I want after appetizers, 2) sometimes I change my mind about mains after appetizers, and 3) I like to enjoy cocktails with apps, and then wine with mains, and even when I tell servers this, they don't always pace it correctly. I asked if it was required that we order all at once and he said it was not required, but only because it was still early in the evening. So I said we'd start with appetizers and he got pretty irritated with us at that point. I asked! If it's required, then tell me; I will follow your rules. And then we asked some questions about specific plates and he couldn't answer them. The cocktail list is short, but good. We each had 2 cocktails and all 4 were good, so yay there. This was really the highlight of the evening, but we are both cocktail nerds. But then nearly all the food was subpar: 1. Black truffle risotto: good flavor, totally wrong texture. It was like soupy rice. 2. Beef tartare: oddly sweet? It was a strange flavor that I've never had before with this dish. 3. Duck: the sauce tasted a bit like peanut butter. The skin was soggy and the bottom had a gristle that I couldn't cut through with the steak knife. 4. Rabbit pappardelle: the best of the bunch; good flavor and noodles at the right texture. Wine: wine by the glass is limited. The zinfandel was stale. Thankfully they let you try it before they pour, so we declined. They didn't ask or care why we declined. Dessert: the only things that sounded good on the menu were the heavier options, and we were already feeling quite full on not much food because the dishes are quite heavy. Bill: in total, we had 4 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, and 2 mains and the bill was $300 before tip. This would be fine had the service been good and the food better. In this case, it was far overpriced. I was excited to try this place. We will not return. read more

This was our third time at the restaurant and the first time for Sunday brunch, so our expectations were high. We started off with the fried chicken and caviar which was great. My wife loved the French omelette, however my sister in law had the cheeseburger and she was not impressed with it. Normally my sister in law doesn't like anything and complains about everything so I wasn't surprised that she didn't finish it. I took a bite and I was shocked to find that I actually agreed with her. I ordered the steak with my eggs over easy but my eggs were overcooked and while I waited for them to cook the eggs correctly, my hangar steak got cold. It's a beautiful restaurant but inconsistent. The first two times we went there our entries were great and the desserts were bad. I think this restaurant could be great if they could be consistent and predictable. read more

3.75 stars. Sadly kind of a mixed review. Although we didnt go all out and try alot of the menu my first visit here was a bit underwhelming. We did enjoy the rolls and fritto misto. Not the biggest fan of the fry on the shrimp but the whiting and artichokes were good. My duck gumbo was incredible i will say. Maybe some of the best gumbo ive had. As for my fried chicken was just left underwhelmed and didnt really see any vision with the dish. The chicken was bland, under seasoned and not crispy at all. The peanut butter gravy piqued my interest but was very one note and literally tasted like melted emulsified peanut butter. The other sauces did very little to help either. For $38 i know bludorn can do better than this. My mother in laws burger was way under done as well sadly. The service was great, though our waiter was very hard to understand at times and spoke very quickly. The restaurant was very nice inside. Fried Chicken. Ham Beignets. Parker house rolls. Didn't love the peanut butter gravy(a little bitter). Classic cream gravy would have been much better with delicious mashed potatoes. Delicious warm chocolate cake with ice cream and caramel sauce. Service attentive and delightful. Unfortunately best seats in the house(near the windows) have AC blasting straight down on customers and food. Bad design. It gets really noisy in the middle of the room when it fills up. Even with those complaints food Is so good we will return! We 'll go earlier before it fills up and wear warmer Jackets. So many more dishes we want to try there. read more

We were here for almost 2 hrs and would have been here longer if I didn't get up twice to find out if our food was ready and then again to get a box and the check. Food was average. Burger is small and below average. Chicken is normal fried chicken nothing special. Potatoes literally tasted like straight up butter. I love butter but this was over the top. Waiter was just terrible. Haven't left that small of a tip in YEARS- it was that bad. The hostess literally had to help serve us and came over to see if we wanted another drink. Heard good things from a lot of ppl and we were super disappointed. Will not be back. read more

I went here with my friend for my birthday and wow wow wow! Starting at the valet, to the host stand, til the end of the night everything was wonderful. The ambiance of the restaurant was outstanding and so was our service. Our server, Saige, was a sweetheart and definitely one of the best servers I have ever had. She made sure my experience was amazing and definitely gave us her best service. She checked up on us all the time and so did the SA's. The managers were also very welcoming and helped bring our experience together as well. The food was delicious and tasted amazing. I'm glad to have went here to celebrate my birthday and I will definitely be back soon to sit with my favorite server, Saige! :) read more

Good atmosphere. Service is always great at Bludorn locations. I'd recommend ordering the Artichoke Tortellini and Carrot Ginger Soup. I heard a lot about the beignets but was overwhelmed by the mustard ricotta inside - it took away from the beignets. The steak tartare was good but wouldn't pair it with the potato rosti - it was all I could taste. I preferred the steak tartare with the beignets and half the ricotta. The food quality is always amazing at the Bludorn locations. Would recommend trying the place out. I'll be going back. read more

We arrived at this new member of the Bludhorn group to a roaring space. I'm ok with the $8 valet but when arriving I noticed what was going to be our table sitting empty, we were still asked to wait in the bar where we could have a drink. Finally shown to the same table we waited 15 minutes and still no waiter. That combined with the noise level and lack of service we left. There is a limited menu with a duck item for $55 to give you an idea since they don't have prices on the website menu. I received a call from the manager today. No excuses made. Apologized for the lack of service. That speaks volumes to me. Will try Bar Bludhorn again. read more

Ambiance and service were ok, they were not the problem. Strip steaks at $71/steak were a disappointment as they were heavy on fat and grizzle. It was difficult to believe this was prime beef, if indeed it was. The filet was ok and I didn't hear a complaint (likewise, not a recommendation) from the person in our party who ordered the bass stew. French fries were nothing to write home about. The so-called creamed spinach seemed like it was 'creamed' by a can of Campbell's beef gravy. Desserts were thoroughly mediocre. All in cost w tip and tax was $150/person. This was a birthday celebration. Don't make the same mistake I did, particularly if it's a celebratory occasion. Go to their sister restaurant, Navy Blue in Rice Village-- Great food and service and worth all the praise the online reviews offer. What a hidden gem! We tried Bar Bludorn with friends as we are fans of the original Bludorn restaurant. Located off i10 West and Campbell in the Memorial area, it's off the beaten path when compared to the main eatery areas in Houston, they consider this location a "neighborhood tavern". The parking lot was smaller and we went with Valet parking. Once inside, seating was well laid out and it's bigger on the inside than it initially looks, it's organized, perfect low lighting, and cozy! Looks like you can pull off street parking and walk a few feet if you're okay with that. We also had a Friday night reservation because of the popular name, so I do recommend that. For appetizers we ordered the Steak Tartare and Country Ham Beignets, these were both delicious and the steak tartare was my fave out of the 2 but nothing bad about the beignets at all!! For main course we tried the Rabbit Pappardelle, Cornmeal Crusted Snapper, and the Double Pork Chop. Our sides were the Parmesan Risotto and Creamed Spinach and Scallion. I have never eaten rabbit until now, so I intentionally grabbed very little of it when I sampled the pappardelle but it was honestly very very tasty(yay I tried something new). I felt that the pork chop was just okay and it comes medium cooked, I felt like it needed a sweet savory sauce or glaze to finish it with and make it pop. My husband devoured the snapper, the snapper was actually on-top of black eyed peas and just paired so very well. The parm risotto is to die for, it's comparable to a southern baked macaroni and cheese- I didn't realize you could even make risotto like this(I want more)! The spinach was also very good and creamy. They have a very original cocktail menu, full bar, beer, wine, etc available. Bar Bludorn is PERFECT for date night, couples night, a nice small business meeting catch-up, or night out with friends, I would say leave the kids at home for this one. I'll be back! read more

Love this new hot spot in Houston! I've dined here a couple of times and every experience has been consistent with great service & excellent/ delicious food! If you are a fan of the Ruben sandwich then you must try the Ruben appetizer! Everyone that has tasted it is in love with this masterpiece of a classic! I was wowed by the Salmon ( yes I know - but for real the salmon stands out!) and the duck is delectable! Fast forward to desserts - the ice cream sandwich is most everyone's favorite! The staff are super friendly and warm - Cole is the GM and has really gone above and beyond for me and my guests! Brian is an excellent waiter - ask for him when making reservations! Very knowledgeable & give great advice on menu & wine selections! The bartenders slay the cocktails! Food was OK there is no ambience. It's loud and their kitchen is even louder yelling throughout the night. It's kinda hard to figure out who's actually your server because so many people come and help you, which is cool I guess, but we want a personal experience for the price. Right away, at valet they didn't open the womens doors? And instantly asked if we had a reservation (we did). When we walked in we were told we had to wait (despite having reservation). No problem, got a drink at the bar. When moving to our table, the host asked multiple times if he had closed our bar tab (we had). I find that weird at a small intimate restaurant. Had we not, come find us at the table? Then the menus were not removed from our small table until after we finished appetizers?? Sharing apps over menus - I'm just not sure I've ever had that happen at a restaurant. We ordered the full size options for pasta and it appeared to be the same size and the half order we have tried previously. So very sorry to report that I was not impressed with my meal. I ordered the Steak Frites and the meat was very good. But the sauce served with it was VERY salty (I like salt) but this was WAY TOO salty. We shared a side of the charred broccoli rabe. The menu just says "Charred Broccoli Rabe", but it was served in a thick sauce that I did expect to see and I didn't like the flavor of it. Also, it did not compliment well with the sauce served with my Steak Frites. I mentioned that I was surprised about seeing the sauce on the Broccoli Rabe and the waiter said it was an olive sauce. I hate olives. I told him that had I known the vegetable was going to be served in an olive sauce, we never would have considered ordering it. They were gracious and removed it from our bill. Ambience is very nice and the wait staff is attentive, although our assistant server didn't know where the bread plate goes, nor did they know that the catsup we ordered to go with the fries should have been placed WITH the fries, and not across the table from them. The dresser was fabulous. This place is newish and has been getting great reviews, so I'm sad about our experience. I will go back in a few months and see if things have improved. They are good for the neighborhood and I do hope my experience was not the norm. read more
