My partner and I visited Camaraderie twice because after our first meal, we felt the restaurant had a lot of potential and wanted to give it another chance before deciding whether it would become one of our regular date-night spots. During our first visit, we ordered the Chicken Nugget Caviar Bite, Caesar Salad, Tarte Flambée, Manchego Cheese Curls, 'Nduja Rolls, Crab Caramelle, and Honey Cake. The Chicken Nugget Caviar Bite was the biggest miss of the evening. The breading was soft and lacked the crisp texture I would expect from a dish like this. It felt as though moisture from freezing and the cooking process compromised the texture and ultimately the execution. The Caesar Salad was enjoyable overall, but it was noticeably underdressed. It felt dry and would have benefited from a more generous amount of dressing to bring everything together. The Manchego Cheese Curls were delicious and full of flavor, but they felt incomplete. A thoughtfully paired dipping sauce would elevate the dish and bring the level of finesse you expect from a restaurant at this price point. The Tarte Flambée tasted good and was easy to eat, but it felt somewhat underwhelming overall. The 'Nduja Rolls were one of the highlights--soft, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The only drawback was that they were quite messy to eat. The Crab Caramelle was enjoyable and well executed. For dessert, the Honey Cake had beautiful presentation and thoughtful accompaniments. The honeycomb was a nice touch, but the cake itself was firmer than expected and almost tasted as though it wasn't freshly made. I was hoping for a softer texture. Despite those criticisms, we left our first visit feeling optimistic. What impressed us most was how present and hands-on the chef seemed to be. There was a level of care and attention throughout the dining room that made us feel confident the restaurant was still refining itself. We saw enough potential that we were excited to return and give it another chance. Unfortunately, our second visit is what ultimately convinced us that Camaraderie won't become one of our regular spots. The biggest issue was consistency. There seemed to be a lack of quality control and overall organization compared to our first experience. As soon as we walked in, the restaurant was extremely loud. There appeared to be a large private gathering occupying much of the back area near the open kitchen, which dramatically changed the atmosphere. We were seated in the lounge area near the bar, where the tables felt very close together. As a couple that enjoys ordering multiple dishes and taking our time dining, the setup felt cramped and almost discouraged us from exploring the menu. We started with the Asparagus Tarte, which was unfortunately disappointing. The menu description highlighted black truffle caciotta and sorrel, which created certain expectations. While the puff pastry itself was beautifully executed, the filling tasted old and lacked the flavors promised by the description. The black truffle caciotta was virtually undetectable, and the sorrel seemed nonexistent. Instead, the filling resembled a cold ricotta mixture, which clashed with the pastry. The asparagus on top was bland and did little to elevate the dish. I was expecting something closer to a warm, savory torta salata with a rich melted cheese filling. The gnocchi was excellent and ended up being the only dish we genuinely enjoyed that evening. My only criticism is that I wish the portion had been slightly larger. The halibut was another disappointment. The texture was dense rather than delicate and flaky. Whether due to overcooking or handling, it lacked the light texture that makes halibut such an enjoyable fish. More than any individual dish, what stood out was the difference in attention to detail between our two visits. The first time, the chef's presence was felt throughout the restaurant. During our second visit, it felt as though no one was paying attention. Dishes lacked consistency, service felt less polished, and the overall experience lacked the sense of care that initially made us want to come back. Overall, the inconsistency between visits was significant. At this price point, consistency matters. If the restaurant is hosting a large private event that is expected to dramatically affect the atmosphere, I believe diners should be informed in advance. It felt unfair for other guests to be seated shoulder-to-shoulder in a loud dining room while trying to enjoy a conversation and a meal. Camaraderie clearly has talented people behind it and moments of genuine creativity, but after two visits, we left feeling that the execution, quality control, and overall dining experience were too inconsistent to justify making it one of our regular destinations. read more

The menu is simple and creative with seemingly well thought out dishes. My group went with the prix fixe menu. All of us opted for the extra $15.00 up charge for the caviar bite served atop a gougere. The caviar and crème fraiche were wonderful. The gougere however was hard and tasted somewhat stale. For me the star of the starters was the rotolo. Perfectly cooked pasta with a savory butternut squash filling. My entree was the cod "chowder". This is where the difference between a four and five star restaurant was really pronounced. The kitchen timing was way off and the meal didn't flow well. There was an extremely long gap between starters and entrees. When the entrees arrived, my dish was cold as well as the pain au lait. What was hot were the roasted potatoes and sunchoke. It was clear that most of the entrees were sitting around waiting for whatever station was responsible for the potatoes to be completed. There is an open kitchen, so you can see every dish being prepared. The food was all very innovative and delicious. However, the portions were quite small. We ended up sharing around seven dishes split between three people. Standouts were the halibut. The fish was so flavorful and tender, and the veal inside the book of teeny was very good, even though it was such a small portion the Nduja rolls were very fluffy, chewy and savory, and unlike anything I have ever seen before. Made a reservation for an early dinner. We were the first ones to the restaurant, but the restaurant did start getting a crowd an hour later. There are plenty of parking spaces, which is great for the area. We got a few plates to share and then personal dishes to finish the night. The carrot cavatelli is very good; the texture and the crunch of the carrot give it a nice texture. The steak and potato: the steak was cool, very well, and for the potato, a bit tart for me. I think they used too much sour cream, but the texture was smooth. The tarte flambée was good, but the cheese was a bit overpowering for me. For the salt-baked celery root, it was okay, probably my least favorite of the dishes. The restaurant itself is a decent size, with indoor and outdoor seating. They have a small bar inside. The osso was beautiful but very tiny. The mains come with supplements so overall it was fine but if you are ravenous, you might want to go with another option. We came to Camaraderie because we had a gift card that someone had given to us as a gift so we were excited to try out the fine casual dining restaurant not too far from us in the Heights. Camaraderie has a prix fixe menu which comes with an entree, dessert with shared dishes, and sides for the table. The prix fixe menu is $75 per person. We decided to go for the a la carte menu. Service: I want to give credit where credit is due as Camaraderie had great service. We were constantly checked in on and we never had to ask for water refills. The food came spaced out well and the server explained all of the unique menu options very vividly. Ambiance: Camaraderie has patio and inside seating as well as a small bar where you can order food and drinks. The inside was very clean but it felt like it had no character. It felt a little like an IKEA store with the basic furniture. (Maybe that's what they were going for) Drinks: we ordered two different drinks. The first drink was the Groover's Paradise which had tequila, drambuie, mango, pineapple and citrus. This drink was very sweet which are the type of drinks I enjoy. We also had the Patio Weather which had vodka, meletti, passion fruit, and lemon. This drink was our favorite as it was light and refreshing. These cocktails were not cheap at $16 each. Food: we ordered multiple dishes off of their a la carte menu which had a snacks category which was their appetizers section, a substantial category which was their entrees section and a desserts section. For snacks, we got 2 of the Nduja rolls which are baked to look like a cinnamon roll but instead of icing it has a cheese glaze and the bread has a spread of chorizo and cheese inside. These were dense but flavorful. I wish they had been a little bigger for $4 each. We also got the Tarte Flambee which was a very thin pizza with bacon lardon and white cheese on top. The outside of the tarte was good and crispy but as we dug into the tarte, it got soggy in the middle. Once again, had good flavor but the texture was off. For entrees, we shared the carrot cavatelli and the skate wing basquaise which is a fish dish. The carrot cavatelli was very good with a nice carrot flavor and good cook on the pasta. My only qualm again is the price here. The cavatelli was $28 and the serving size wasn't that big. The skate was a little salty with its fried hatter but the peppers and sauce that came with the skate cut into some of the saltiness. The skate was $30 but I don't think it was worth its price. For dessert, we got the chocolate sabayon tart. To be honest, this dessert was confusing because the filling was light and airy but the dense crust almost required a knife to cut into, the ice cream was just basic vanilla ice cream. I would not recommend getting the chocolate tart. The tart also cost $14 and it was not very big. Overall, I give Camaraderie a 3/5 because while the service was very good, the food was subpar for the price. The clean interior was ok but it felt like I was dining in a fast casual place with fine dining prices. Check out Camaraderie for yourself but we probably won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

We ordered a number of appetizers and entrees and drinks and while everything was good, I'm not sure anything was so mind blowing I'd be rushing back here. I really enjoyed the caviar bites and the salt baked celery root, which was a surprise favorite. Otherwise nothing else really stood out. My dessert was odd - merengue over some kind of foam and ice cream - visually interesting but the flavors didn't quite pop. I do appreciate there's parking here. OMG! I am somewhat old school so after looking at the pictures of the food on Yelp I was unsure if I would really enjoy the food. I tell you it was an amazing experience my taste buds will never forget. We ( there were 3 of us) started with the nduja roll which looks sweet but it is savory, then machete cheese curls (which I could have eat my weight in), the salt baked celery root (as tasty as it is beautiful), the crab caramelle (my mouth screamed MORE - sooooo good ), the veal osso buco (again- as tasty as it is beautiful), and lastly we had a black cod (it melted in your mouth and pleasured your your taste buds). I have to give a glowing review for Camaraderie's prefixe menu. It was the perfect celebratory experience with 4 people. They have a decent size self-park lot that was very convenient. The service was amazing & we really enjoyed our waiter. We loved all the snacks/appetizers. The veal ossobuco & salmon were both amazing. I would personally skip the trout en croute. The crust was a work of art, but the fish was a little dry and the whole dish lacked flavor. I loved the bread service. One small detail I would've liked- please put purse hooks under the tables or bring a stand! Family style leaves no room on the table for bags. The desserts were great- i liked the milk and honey more than the raspberry. They also brought me a tasty little cake for my birthday. The layout of the restaurant was open concept with direct view of the open kitchen to observe the team putting together the food. However, the acoustics of the restaurant was not good because the noise was bouncing off of the walls and made it loud inside to hear the waitstaff when they were explaining some of the dishes. Two stars because the service was attentive in terms of refilling waters, and replacing cutlery. Docked 3 stars because the food was very underwhelming. Most of their pre fixe menu items were bland and under seasoned. The fusion foods missed the mark and left us confused because chili oil and yuzu did not work well with the salt baked celery dish. They replaced it with a blue cheese purple grits but again that too left a gritty unsavoury mouthfeel. The salad is a salad as were the roasted carrots. The lion's mane mushroom was sad and executed poorly - bland and shredded. The shredded osso buco was the only one that tasted like seasoned beef broth/stew but why though? Where is the flavour? The raviolis were too thick and tough to chew on, and the fillings were meh. The best tasting savoury item, unfortunately, was their fresh baked bread, oof! Came in with a foodie friend last night and we did the à la carte menu and sat at the bar. The 3 cocktails we got were amazing! My favorite was the Lust for Life & Bugs Bunny. We had the nduda roll (think savory cinnamon roll), salt baked celery root, carrot cavatelli (adult Mac & cheese) made in house pasta, and veal osso buco! 10/10 would get all 3 again. For just being open for a couple of days, I was blown away by the service and the rate at which food was coming out. It was a very well oiled machine. Let's start with the apps: to share. lettuces / ricotta salata + fine herbs: this salad was really refreshing and the cheese sprinkled on was chef's kiss! salt baked celery root \ apple, chili + yuzu: I was pleasantly surprised by this. The celery root with the chili oil worked shockingly well with the apple. sformato / asparagus, morel + parmesan: so soft and airy. Paired well with the asparagus. dauphiné ravioli \ comté, caramelized onion + saba: I could have eaten just a bowl of this and be so happy!! The Comte and caramelized onion are the perfect match. Entrees to choose from served with with pain au lait + broccolini miso bagna càuda halibut / smoked potato, lobster + clam chowder: this is a must!! Trust me! veal osso buco \ bucatini + mirepoix: wasn't too heavy at all. The bucatini was nice with the osso buco. lion's mane / celery root + preserved lemon dover sole en croûte \ swiss chard + sauce américaine (for two) (We didn't pick these 2 entrees but they were other options to pick from!) dessert. strawberry frozen marshmallow sorbet / lemon + olive oil: this was my favorite of the 2. Had an early reservation at 1730 on a Friday night- rolled in to an empty parking lot. Love that they have quite a bit of space to take the stress out of parking. Walked in and we were the only table for a good bit of time. It happened to be Texas cocktail week so we decided to try the drink special for that. Our server was helpful in guiding our decisions for the meal, we chose à la carte dining. Started with the tarte flambé which was delicious and crispy and cheesy. We also got the tomato pie- good and simple for seasonal but quite hefty of a price for such a small serving. We got the carrot pasta which was quite nice especially with the freshness of the carrot top pesto. The ravioli had a nice filling but I guess because they're so small it just seemed like the pasta was overwhelming/thick? The steak came with some very crispy potatoes- this was very average for me. We have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Camaraderie ever since it was announced. I loved Shawn Gawle's desserts when he was the pastry chef at Rosie Cannonball/March and was excited to see what he was going to create. The restaurant itself is in a great location with a large parking lot. The dining room is bright and airy and the noise volume is really impressive for a restaurant with an open kitchen. We had absolutely no problem visiting with our friends during dinner and enjoyed having a view of the kitchen throughout our meal. We opted for the prix-fixe menu in the main dining room, but I have already made a reservation to come back and try the a la carte menu in the lounge. The appetizer courses were all so good that it would be really hard to choose a favorite, but if you are going to twist my arm then it was probably the dauphine ravioli. For my main I had the osso buco but we also ordered a lion's mane for the table because I was having a lot of difficulty making a decision. Both of them were great, but if you aren't vegetarian I would lean towards the osso buco. The portions throughout dinner were moderate in the best way. The main courses were not large but they were just the right size given the fact that we had already had four appetizers and bread service (which was divine). Food itself was decent but portions are super small (coming from someone who usually hate big portions) and the taste was good not nothing to write home about. Also, I usually like a small menu but you don't get a lot of options here. All the food was good but most of it didn't necessarily stand out to me. The nduja roll was favorite, truly delicious, I could eat 10. Really enjoyed the suburban breeze cocktail too. Camaraderie was such a fun and special experience. We booked a Friday night tasting menu ($75 per person) a few weeks in advance and it was absolutely worth it. They have a private parking lot with plenty of space, which already made the night start off easy. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the energy--the kitchen is wide open, so you're practically sitting right there with the chefs! It's lively without feeling chaotic, and there's a really beautiful bar area and a cozy patio outside too. The service was incredible. Our server, Jackie, took such great care of us the whole night--always checking in, swapping out our plates and utensils, and just making sure we were having a great time without ever being overbearing. The food was creative and playful. The tasting menu gave us a little bit of everything--small bites to share, a main dish, and dessert, with a few fun extras in between. Some things I absolutely loved (the veal osso buco and the "Milk & Honey" dessert were both amazing), and a few dishes weren't exactly my style, but that's part of the adventure here. It's somewhere you want to go if you are interested with fresh ingredients and artistic interpretation of the ingredients of the season. We had a fine dinner at Camaraderie: the restaurant is pretty; the food is generally good; but they need to up the service level and get rid of some service kinks if they're going to charge those $$$ prices. Our table went with the $75 per person prix fixe menu. They serve appetizers family style, and then you pick your own entree and dessert. I thought the ravioli appetizer, dessert (honey ice cream with candied almonds and meringue), and bread and carrots side served with the entrees were really good. For my entree, I had the salmon, which I thought was good. Otherwise, the food was just fine. Service was eh--all fairly minor, but they have a few things to work out. For example, there was no plate for the bread and side that came out with the entrees (and no room on the entree bowls). They brought out the wrong bottle of wine. They tried to clear my plate and drink before I finished. One person's cocktail came out about 10 minutes after the first appetizer. Good news is that there is plenty of parking if you self-park, which is rare in the Heights. read more

My husband and I wrapped up date night at Camraderie--and wow, what a find. We walked in at 9pm on a Thursday and were warmly assured dinner service was still on (i asked them 2 times since not a lot of traffic was there) We chose the à la carte side (though both menus looked amazing--guess we'll just have to come back). The food was EXQUISITE. I'll start by saying if you're unsure about a dish, ask your server to describe it. They know their stuff. * Nduja Roll - Imagine a cinnamon roll, but savory, with rich andouille spice. Phenomenal. I could've had two. * Tarte Flambee - Thin, crisp, cheesy perfection. If ham and cheese is your thing, you'll be in heaven. * Tuna Crudo - Fresh, vibrant, and unexpectedly perfect with melon. Michelin-level flavors. * Steak & potatoes- Steak cooked spot-on medium, soft on the inside but still captures the crunchy seer on the outside. * Caramelized Onion Ravioli - so flavorful we didn't leave a bite! Ignore any reviews calling this place "bIand" or "underwheIming." That's simply not this restaurant. Camaraderie is top-tier with a neighborhood soul--flavor in every bite, an open kitchen where you can watch the passion behind the plates, and a team that clearly cares about every detail. This was an amazing meal. We went for the Prix fixe menu, but I also want to try the a la carte options. The portion sizes were perfect for how many dishes we got to try. The mushrooms, celery root and salad were delicious. Most people got the veal and salmon and weren't disappointed. The flounder looked amazing but needs to be shared by 2. The price was so reasonable. It was 5 of us and we each had about 3 drinks and paid around $150 each. I could eat here over and over again. Had a terrific experience trying the prix fix menu. $75. You get 4 appetizers, 1 entree, 1 dessert with a few extra bites sprinkled in throughout. Service. 5/5. Very kind, informative, and attentive. Ambience. 5/5. Open kitchen. Fun to watch and not disruptive at all. Food. 5/5 All the food was seasoned incredibly well. Not too salty or heavy which happens a lot even at some of the HTX fine-dining staples. The ravioli was perfectly cooked. Asparagus mousse/souffle dish was wonderfully creamy. Halibut entree was a delightful treasure hunt for fish and lobster through a cloud of buttery clam chowder foam. Dover sole in pastry was as beautiful as it was delicious. Entrees were served with a tender broccolini and fresh baked potato rolls. All excellent. Finished with dessert. Chiffon cake with sesame ice cream and marshmallow raspberry sorbet. Again, flavor profile was perfect. Not too sweet. Not too dry, not too icy etc. Perfect end to the meal. You owe it to yourself to try this place. It blows most of the other fine dining locations in the city out of the water. We will definitely be back! read more

Wow! Very impressed with the quality of the food and the stunning Scandanavian inspired built out. If you count the bar area, about 40% of the build out is dedicated to food and beverage preparation. Cool open kitchen. We dined at the a la carte lounge. We had the Manchego cheese curls (almost like a cheesy savory funnel cake, highly recommend), nduja rolls (almost like a savory cheesy cinnamon roll but no cinnamon), lettuces (basically a salad), halibut (which was awesome, like a play on New England clam chowder), steak (good but not as impressive as the other dishes), pavlova and butterscotch dessert (both good as well). We had a martini and an old fashioned and both were expertly made cocktails. Service was good but nothing remarkable. I will definitely be back! We consider ourselves foodies and would rank it in the top 10 restaurants in Houston. Up there with Nancy's Hustle, Little Oysters in terms of food quality. read more

Not exactly tummy-filling food. We had a couple of appetizers and 2 entrees for 2 people. But the apps & entrees were really light. The only substantial item is the steak (which we didn't order). So I left hungry and woke up ravenous the next morning. The food looks pretty, tastes fine, but does not satiate. Won't be returning here. read more

We enjoyed a NYE dinner here, and were impressed by the food, service, and quality for the price. We enjoyed drinks at the bar, as well as a full dinner in the dining room, and can say that both were wonderful experiences. The kitchen is visible from the dining area, so it was a real treat to see the food being prepared. You can see the professionalism and cleanliness there as well--which means a lot now. Camaraderie exceeded expectations for a tasting menu esq restaurant! All the good parts of a multi course expansive tasting menu experience but with the freedom to choose the entree course and dessert. Every course on the prix fixe menu was thoughtful, delicious, and balanced, but the green garlic knots and ravioli were standouts. The produce in all the dishes were literally beautiful. We had the veal and salmon entrées both beautifully executed and satisfying without being too heavy. The cocktails were just as well thought out, I tried Honey Bunny, Split Personality, and lil victories and rank them in that order. Both desserts were delicious, but the raspberry marshmallow one was insane. Overall it was an amazing meal for a great value and we're already considering returning soon for the same menu just for the garlic knots. read more
