This place is really cute. The weather was perfect, so we grabbed a spot on the patio, which had such a fun, lively vibe. One side of the menu is the actual menu and the back is a coloring page--they even provided colored pencils, which was a fun touch. The menu offers light bites, a few sushi rolls, drinks, and dessert. I ordered the Basque cheesecake and it was so creamy and good that I ended up ordering a second slice. Wow! Very impressed by the drinks at Bar Colette. Located right in the heart of West Village (so parking can be difficult) is trendy Bar Colette. After our dinner at Hudson House, we headed over for a few post dinner cocktails. The atmosphere is very swanky, modern and trendy. The inside is very small, however there is outdoor seating as well. The outdoor seating is super cute and is where we would have sat over the bar had it not been raining! I liked how the drink menu were on a soccer based menu. My friend is a huger soccer nerd, and it was fun getting to hear all about each picture on the menu. Service is a bit slow, but it's a small bar so I understand. I ordered the Parfit to start as well as the La Canarinha. Both tasted delicious, how Bar Colette describes itself - "crafty". I had just left another restaurant where I'd had a truly awful drink, and with some time to kill before my next event, I was determined to find a good cocktail. I did a quick Google search for craft cocktails, and this quaint little spot popped up just around the corner, so I decided to check it out. I'm so glad I did. When I arrived, they asked if I had a reservation, which clearly tells you this is the kind of place where reservations are encouraged. Luckily, I was able to grab a seat at the bar, and the bartender was incredibly nice, welcoming, and accommodating. The cocktail menu is very unique, so instead of guessing, I chatted with the bartender to get a feel for the flavor profiles and what I might enjoy. That conversation alone set the tone for a great experience. I ended up ordering two drinks, and both were absolutely amazing. The first was a gin-forward cocktail that leaned slightly sweet and was incredibly smooth and well-balanced. I don't remember every ingredient, but I do remember how good it was. The second drink was the undeniable star of the night. It was their take on an old-fashioned, but with a smoky flavor reminiscent of a cigar. What really impressed me was that there was no mezcal and it wasn't actually smoked, yet they somehow nailed that smoky depth. Whatever magic they're doing behind the bar works, and I would recommend that drink without hesitation. The space itself is intimate and charming, making it perfect for a date night. They have adorable pink velvet couches and chairs that add a cozy, stylish vibe, along with a small patio outside for those who prefer fresh air. It's not my first visit, and while I wouldn't call myself a regular, each time I return I'm reminded why it's worth it, the cocktails are consistently exceptional. Trying to modify our reservation over the phone proved unnecessarily complicated. The automated prompts felt excessive, and no one ultimately picked up. That said, right at our reservation time, the host called to confirm whether we were on our way. I appreciated that. In a small space, holding a table matters, and they did. The room is warmly lit, modern, and chic without trying too hard. The ambiance encourages conversation. There are always inventive additions to the drink menu, and that's where Bar Colette truly distinguishes itself. The music this particular evening felt slightly off, but it hardly detracted from the purpose of the space: expertly crafted cocktails and unhurried dialogue. This time, I ordered two Tucanone Bombolones (Amaro Montenegro, Legal Mezcal, and nuanced herbal notes) and two Pearadise cocktails (lavender-infused Grey Goose Le Poire, Oloroso, pear, spiced wine, yogurt whey, and honey-almond brittle). Both were flawless. Balanced, intentional, and technically impressive without being overworked. Credit is due to the bar team and the Feels Like Home group for maintaining a standard that never wavers. In a city full of options, intention is what separates the ordinary from the memorable. When we first sat down we were told we'd only have the table until 9:30 which is a bit strange for a reservation in my opinion, but when 9:30 came around no one kicked us out so I guess it didn't really matter. Super cute and fun how they provide coloring menus for the table. I got the Pearadise which I really liked; it had a prominent lavender flavor. One of my friends ordered the Wimbledon, which was recommended as the sweetest drink on the menu, and she liked it. However, the rest of my friends on the other hand did not really like their drinks (they ordered the Mr. Meowyagi, the Do Not Disturb, and the Go Bananas mocktail) and after tasting them, I'd agree they were not great as someone who prefers lighter/sweeter drinks. My husband and I came here after our anniversary dinner at Namo next door. We finished dinner early and they were able to seat us early at the bar which was great. The bartenders were great, drinks were amazing, and fun vibes. However, they essentially kicked us out after a little over an hour. We have never been treated like this by another establishment, and it left a very bad taste in our mouths. The bartender graciously offered us some shots on the house, but we have traveled to many countries and domestically, and we have never run into a situation like this where management sets a firm time limit even with us continuously buying drinks and no one waiting (that we noticed) at the front. We ended up being kicked out 30 min after our scheduled reservation started, so I'm assuming they asked us to leave to make room for walk-ins, or else they over booked. Regardless, we won't be back. My wife and I, together with our son, visited Bar Colette on November 18th after dinner at Mamani in Uptown Dallas. We sat at the bar and tasted many of their cocktails. The cocktail menu is varied and offers drinks that we had never seen before anywhere else. We shared the drinks between the three of us so we could all try even more of the wonderful creations - each one of us had a different favorite (who would have thought that "Eau de Ranch" would be so delicious)! I enjoyed Bar Colette. Super cute and quaint place in west village perfect for girls night. The welcome drink was a nice touch but a bit too sweet for my liking. I love a bar that has true craft cocktails and Bar Colette did not disappoint there. I ordered the calle 8 which was a tropical clarified milky cocktail. It sounds crazy but tastes AMAZING! My friend ordered the parfait cocktail and she loved it. For food, the menu is very small. We ordered the shrimp tempura and wagyu tostada for an appetizer. Both were delicious! The tostada caught me by surprise by how tiny it was, I wouldn't say it was worth $14. We also had the medusa roll (9/10) and shrimp and salmon roll (3/10 had chunks of lemon on the roll very off putting). Overall great experience, I'll be back to try more cocktails soon. read more

Amazing cocktail bar in west village. The ambiance reminded me of a bar in NYC or another trendy international town. Super high end experience with service, ambiance, and cocktails to match. We got several cocktails (see pics) and even tried several of the dishes. The steak was delicious and apparently we ate it all before the camera could eat! The only dish that wasn't on point was the duck. It was a little dry and overcooked for our taste. The cocktails were the highlight of the evening and the main reason to visit bar Collette. Each one was super well crafted and the bar ware is next level. Each glass matches fits its contents like a glove. Whether you are in the mood for something on a big cube, straight up, or served with foam, they got you. The only thing I wish was different when it comes to the cocktail service is the actual creation of the cocktails. My understanding is everything is made behind the scenes or in advance of the service. This is good because you don't hear all the noise of the drink making but then you also don't get the interaction with the bartenders on the cool ingredients they are using. It's a bit of a double edged sword. All in all, a super fun cocktail spot in dallas and we need more here! read more

I didn't try but the whiskey was very rich and bold smell. The Wimbledon was very fresh, light, and had a strawberry taste. It came with a lavender jelly topping that I really liked. We got 4 oysters ($20) and chicken tenders ($17). The oysters were somewhat of a pass- not seasoned or had a sauce. The tenders were good! Nothing too special or bad about it. The frozen daily cocktail ($17) was actually better than expected since you can taste the liquor. They offered to mix it and I asked for more strawberry than pina colada but I got the exact opposite. I've been here on several occasions. First time when they first opened, and recently within the past 3- months. So here's a breakdown of all my visits: 1st time (when they first opened): Place was beyond packed, great service, great drinks. Drink prices were a bit high, but that was what I expected. Overall decent experience minus the cocktail prices 2nd time (over a year later): Place was completely dead. The service is still phenomenal, and drink prices seemed to have dropped. Food is really good (didn't get it the first time). Drink menu was really good 3rd time: There were no employees out front when we walked in, so we sat ourselves at the bar (only a few patrons inside). Still pretty good service, drink menu slightly changed since the last time I was there but overall good This place honestly really good and I don't know why they're not super popular anymore (probably the initial prices). I was able to walk in on a Friday without a reservation and get a table with my friend. Plus, it's right outside the trolley stop. We visited this bar on Tuesday 8/13 and had an amazing time. We came back this Friday 8/16 and had the worst service imaginable and it was not busy in the restaurant. It took 45 minutes to get drinks. At one point we got up and walked to the bar to get our drinks ourselves. When our charcuterie board came out, it was missing breadsticks and crackers. When I asked the server where the crackers were, she said the food on the board changes frequently. I told her that we came three days earlier and the board had crackers and bread. Were we supposed to eat the cheese and meat with our hands with nothing to spread them on? Even if the food changes, why would there be no crackers or bread or food item on which to spread the cheese and meats? When we visited on 8/13, every table was packed and the service was impeccable. Everyone has an off day but on 8/16 there were maybe 2-3 tables occupied (ours included) and not a single person at the bar. There were three bartenders inside - there's no reason it should have taken 45 minutes to get one drink. The outside seating had a totally different wait staff, so I can't imagine why our one server could not manage our orders. We had to ask her numerous times where are drinks were. We spent $400 here for terrible service, only for it to end with them pushing us out the door. I will not go back nor will I recommend. read more

They're doing really great things here: 1. Lovely ambiance. The entrance is slightly tucked away behind some (faux) greenery, in a valiant attempt to make it feel more like a hidden gem you'd find wandering down a back alley in France. There's a nice patio, but sit indoors, and you'll definitely forget that you're in Dallas. The delicate, gorgeous glassware (apparently custom-made) adds to the elegant vibes. 2. Friendly service. The vibes actually start when you check in. Employees are sharply dressed (men in suits) yet generally warm and welcoming (if you're not being annoying, which I witnessed from some other guests). 3. Smart, interesting drinks. The Siembra was a phenomenal twist on an Old Fashioned that had multiple people in our group saying "wow" after their first sip. Don't be afraid to order off-menu, either, even if it's a "normal" drink order. One person in our group ordered a bijou (a classic cocktail with a very standard recipe) and received the best one I've ever tried, thanks to an inspired dash of Fernet added to the typical ingredients. Areas for improvement: 1. The olives and taralli served as bar snacks were lovely. Many bars will replenish bar snacks...Bar Colette does not. Since we'd just come from dinner, I didn't exactly want to order heavier snacks, but at the same time, I probably would have ordered more drinks if I'd had a steady supply of taralli to soaking them up. Maybe they could start at least offering to replenish the bar snacks? (I get that these are fancier snacks than most bar snacks, but still.) 2. Not all of the drinks were a home run. I didn't love the Rhu-Barbie. On the current (early 2024) menu, it was difficult to find a drink that was somewhere in the middle ground...lots of super sweet drinks, and several very spirit-forward, aggressive drinks. There's a lot of hype about their lead bartender, Ruben Rolon, but for all the media hype about his clarified milk punch, it's not on the menu. The ever-changing menu is actually a handicap for the bar. I definitely want some rotation -- Rolon clearly is a creative genius and is using some crazy techniques in the back kitchen, from what I've read, so he definitely should continue innovating and creating. However, I think the menu would benefit from a section of exceptional, finely-honed "staples" that are always available. There are Michelin-winning drinks, and then there are drinks that are also very creative but just aren't quite at that level. I'd describe the majority of the current Bar Colette menu as the latter, and they need more of the former. The thing is, those drinks exist...so make sure they're always on offer. Word of mouth about those Michelin-level drinks will bring people in, and the rotating section of the menu will keep them coming back. Sure, what do I know; I drink a lot of drinks, but I've never owned a bar. Thing is, though...West Village is a pain. One-way streets and tricky parking. No one likes to go there. So if I'm going to go back, I need a guarantee that there will be at least one drink on the menu that's going to knock my socks off. I loved the Siembra...but will it be around next time I'm there? Probably not. One more thing: Yeah, the drinks are expensive. A half-decent glass of wine at your average strip center restaurant in Dallas is going to be at least $15. If you're going to complain about paying a little more for being transported to this lovely little slice of New York or Paris, where the drinks require a lot more time and effort than operating a corkscrew...please don't. That said, I think they'll get fewer complaints about the prices if the menu consistently offers at least a few drinks that are tried-and-true, guaranteed hits that showcase the best of Rolon's talents. Based on menu descriptions alone, the Rhu-Barbie was the closest to my tastes among the current menu, and I didn't love it...so that left me sort of up a creek with the menu. I went with a basic gin martini for my second round, but I've had better martinis, too. I can see the potential on the menu here, especially with the sips of the Siembra that I snuck from a friend, so with that plus all the other positives, I'm still giving them four stars. But I understand why someone might come away with a different impression, depending on what drinks are on offer that night and how the menu aligns with their tastes. Hm, maybe a showcase of staples is the solution, eh? Someone ping me when the clarified milk punch is back on the menu, please. (Fingers crossed...!) read more
