I had higher expectations for this place and was disappointed with our meal. The bread that comes out with the oil is extremely salty as other reviews state as well, my friend ordered a martini and we were told they ran out of glasses so we had to wait for one to use. I ordered the bucatini which was okay, wasn't bad but nothing to write home about either. My friend ordered the testaroli and I don't know if it was the style of noodle or how it was cooked, but it was not good with the pesto sauce first being delivered without it on the noodles and then on the 2nd try it was bland and not sauce like. The dessert with the gelato and expresso is very delicious and I was pleased with that. Overall I don't think I would come back here as nothing stood out as great. read more

Dimly lit, nice ambience, small plates, great food. Quality and not quantity here. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday evening and were seated immediately without a reservation, but my guess is that you'll need one on Fridays and Saturdays. Good service and friendly staff. They inform you that the portions are small and that dishes are made to be shared, and that two people should order 2-4 dishes. We had the Burrata which was amazing- it's basil and cherry tomatoes on mozzarella on top of bread- simple but really good (I already tried making this at home.) I also had the basil fettuccine pasta with tomatoes (this is different from the one currently listed on their online menu, it is now a vegetarian option and doesn't include quail egg, thankfully) and I really enjoyed it. My boyfriend had the brussel sprouts which he said were good, they just sat a little heavy in the stomach, and he had the Gnocchi with the parmesan crisps which he really enjoyed as well. We also enjoyed some of the red wines. Overall, good service, great food, I appreciate the dim lighting and atmosphere as well as vegetarian pasta options, but the place is pretty pricey. I had dinner here on a Thursday night and was thoroughly impressed! I live in the borough and was excited to give Bar Lucca a try. It did not disappoint. I shared two appetizers (the fennel salad and chanterelle bruschetta) and a pizza (the forte) with my husband. All of our dishes were fantastic. Interesting flavors, quality ingredients, thoughtful presentation. The atmosphere was also comfortable, warm, authentic and so unexpected. On top of this, we had a fabulous server taking care of us. Daniel was so knowledgeable about the food and especially the wine. His recommendations were perfect and really added to our experience. As a bonus, when we told Daniel that it was our first time at the restaurant but that we'd pass on dessert, he insisted that we try the Nutella filled donuts, on the house! They were absolutely delicious and it was such a treat. Overall, I couldn't recommend Bar Lucca more. It is such a welcome addition to Conshohocken. We will absolutely be back. read more

Mediocrity at its best - The restaurant lacks passion, creativity, authenticity and warmth. The food: overcooked meat, luke warm sides, non-traditional, generic Italian fare. The restaurant obviously caters to Americans who are willing to pay a premium for what they think is traditional, Lucchese cuisine. Poorly executed. The chef is obviously not the restaurant owner. Décor: lovely, seemingly romantic setting. Unfortunately, the loud bar shatters any illusion of romance. I'm assuming they're trying to replicate a quaint, fun, Mediterranean vibe. It falls short, coming off as common, exaggerated and American. Cleanliness: Open Kitchen concept - Full trash receptacles, dirty aprons, dirty bar mops and the kitchen staff was sweating franticly over the prepared food. Bathroom - water everywhere. This is one of my favorite restaurants period! The atmosphere is great and the quality of the food is amazing! One of my favorites is their Bucatini. The pasta is cooked to perfection, al dente and full of flavor. Their pizza is also very good with a nice crust. Although I'm not crazy about dessert my wife and i also love their Nutella doughnuts. Bar Lucca in Conshohocken has a menu that failed to inspire me ... a bit too precious in the descriptions and preparation. If you don't care for "smoked" or truffles your choices are reduced. Despite that, I settled on the sea bass that was excellent. It was served with a mash that was good and some julienned squash in a lemon vinaigrette that was outrageously delicious. I started with a farro salad that was mediocre. My wife had some bruschetti that were quite good and the scallops that she liked. We had some of the Brussels sprouts that were not good -- too smokey for me. A friend got a pizza. The toppings were good -- including arugula -- but the crust was burnt, which I don't like (though I recognize that others do). We skipped dessert but they had lots of Nutella things which I somewhat regret not trying. As to atmosphere, it was way too loud. Not expecting to go back. read more

The burrata was the best I've ever had, and the cheese plate was fantastic as well. I ordered the chilean sea bass for my entree, and it melted in my mouth. The service was excellent as well. Very unimpressed with this place. Wine selection poor - no cabernet sauvignon selection for wine? Got the Pene dish - did not look nor taste like any Penne meal that I ever had before..I was not even interested in finishing it. The penne was priced at $13, very small portions..I mean very small. Only dinner on the menu that seemed decent was steak, Chilean sea bass, scallops & pizza. The pizza we got was burned on the bottom..so I tasted the burnt dough on the bottom of the pizza more than the pizza itself. The wait staff were fine and the service was fast..but I would definitely not go back to this place due to the menu and the food. I live pretty much across the street and I cannot get enough of Bar Lucca. My roommates, friends, and family have all been already and are in love also. For appetizers I would recommend the cheese plate, meat plate or Burrata. You really cant go wrong with any meal. The entree's may look small when it comes to your table, but you will fill up quickly and every pizza is delicious. The atmosphere is great, you can go casual (like we did during the late snow storm) or it can be a dressy spot for a date. read more

Visited for the first time on a busy Saturday night. Nice ambience. It was a nice evening and the large glass front doors were open to the outside porch, so we felt a bit of outdoor vibe, even though we were inside. The food was very good, although we think they forgot to dress one of the salads. Our favorite appetizers were the meatballs and the fennel salad (well dressed). All four entrees were delicious: steak, sea bass, scallops and risotto. Our one complaint was that we felt rushed. We would have taken our time ordering entrees after choosing starters and drinks, but our server seemed determined to get all our orders in. consequently, as soon as the apps were cleared, the entrees arrived. Desserts were just OK. Everything is Nutella based, which was strange. We tried the crepes and donuts, but would skip them next time. Other than that, it was all good. read more

This place is awesome. Nice dinner spot. The restaurant is not on what you declare the "main" part of Conshohocken. Instead, it is off of Hector st. It comes up on you so fast. You past by a bunch of houses then it appears. There is also a parking lot for customers. I had the wild boar ragu pasta and it did not disappoint. Went last night. Huge fan of Stone Rose and Italian food so very excited about this place. Amazing food! They say it's tapas style but for me it's more like traditional italian style where one person can easilly eat and app, pasta and entree. Good portions and fair prices. The arugula salad was one of the best salads I've ever eaten. And the fresh pappardelle was perfect. Also amazing pizzas. Only problem was the service. They were very slow bringing drinks (we would watch the drinks sitting at the bar waiting to be picked up for 10 minutes) and one of our pizzas was too burnt and they seemed a little annoyed to take it back. They just opened so I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll improve. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff! read more

Just finished a very good dinner at Bar Lucca. Everything was very good. We had 2 pizzas as well as fish and beef. The pizzas are larger than we expected and everything else was smaller than expected. Overall for a neighborhood restaurant off the beaten path it is very good. read more

We went two nights in a row. Both nights I got the Squid ink pasta with snow crab claws. On the first night the waitress told me it came with three claws and indeed it did. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was a lift compliment to the delicious pasta. The second night I got two claws. I asked the server and the kitchen told her it was only two claws which hardly makes it worth it. This time around the pasta was over cooked and the sauce was gummy and congealed. Also, two of the Nutella donuts had no Nutella inside them. We came back for a second meal because the first one was so good. My experience at Bar Lucca this past Wednesday for lunch was outstanding. Getting there early probably helped, because the place was full by noon, a nice sign. What drew me here was a meeting, but what solidified my 5star was the experience. The staff was tremendous, and extremely attentive. Ownership was on site, and made frequent table visits which was a very nice touch! I ordered the mega Meatball Sandwich - wow, awesome! To go with that was a glass of local fav Karamoor Estate's red blend out of the tap. Fabulous paring, and the concept of adding tap wine, thou not a new invention, is unique to this area. I recently visited Philadelphia and wanted some good authentic Italian. I was very pleased with this small, quaint restaurant. Good service and somewhat casual atmosphere. The cheese boards were great with wonderful cheeses and meats. The charred octopus is another unique appetizer that was delicious! We had the steak sandwich and the arugula salad with added seared sea scallops. Both were excellent. The steaks were cooked medium rare and the portion was generous. Served on a focaccia roll(could be better) with roasted Roma tomatoes, Gorgonzola and arugula. The sandwich also came with a side of parmesan fries that were addictive. The arugula salad with peppers had a very spicy dressing but delicious. The two seared scallops ($6 extra) were tasty but one was rather thin in size. The first time I went to Bar Lucca, my husband and I had a wonderful meal. We had a great waiter and he suggested some great things for us. The second time was not so wonderful. Our waitress had no personality and was not very friendly. The place was so loud, we had to shout to hear eat other. This time we didn't order any pizza but got the special which turned out to be $35. Please remember that these are SMALL plates. I don't appreciate the waitress not giving us a heads up on the price of the special. Everyone who I've talked to about this restaurant has said negative things. I couldn't understand because our first visit was great, but after the second I understood. We will not be going back. read more

We went there on Valentine's Day (had reservations). So glad that we called a few days before to confirm we were in the books because we were not! Also sad to be seated upstairs, the ambiance downstairs seemed much better. Service was good, but not excellent. She just had many other tables to wait due to the holiday. Our meals were fantastic. I had a special homemade ravioli stuffed with fava beans and topped with a creamy lobster sauce and slices of blood oranges - DELICIOUS! I crave it just writing about it. We have been to Bar Lucca a few times since it opened. The open air, Mediterranean feel makes every seat in the house great. The atmosphere and buzz are active and fun. The wood fired, full brick, pizza oven catches your eye and makes the place pop. The tapas sharing gives you the opportunity to try many things on menu. There is not a bad thing on the menu. Our favorites are the stuffed meatballs, clams, meat and cheese boards, the prosciutto pizza and the Nutella doughnuts for dessert. We definitely recommend and will be back. read more

I didn't know what to think when my girlfriend suggested this place. It's off the beaten path of Fayette Street and the neighborhood isn't the prettiest, but I'm glad I didn't judge a book by its cover! I am glad that she recommended this place. The decor has a rustic farmhouse feel to it! Cute electric lightbulbs add to the charm of the table setting. Lots of rich reclaimed wood shades and very peaceful for Sunday brunch. There is an accordion window that would be nice for the summertime to get some airflow- however there isn't much to see if patrons are sitting on the patio. In the back of the space is an open kitchen with a nice pizza oven. Right inside the door is a nice little bar with a tv for all the people that need to watch the game. The music was a tad bit too loud to have conversation! We were seated right the speaker and I found myself straining to hear my girlfriends. I had the strawberry and procuittio arugula salad. It was nicely dressed, the greens were fresh. I wish that there was bread for the table but we had a nice Peach Bellini to fill the void( albeit pricey for the burbs, but tasty, so I didn't miss it too much. My one gripe was that the food didn't all come to the table at the same time so I had to look at my salad for a couple of minutes before they other food arrived. the waiter was attentive, but didn't refill our water, thankfully he left the bottle on our table so we helped ourselves. He didn't rush us out the door as we were chatting for quite a while. All in all, it gets a solid 3.5 stars. I will be back for the Nutella donuts! read more

This restaurant looks so out of place among the neighborhoods. It's a nice restaurant, which I didn't expect when I walked in. N and I came for dinner on a weeknight and were seated right away. The bread isn't anything to rave about. N had the steak, and I had the sea bass. Both dishes were delicious. However, the portions are tiny! They almost look like appetizer portions for the price of entrees! We were both still hungry afterwards and almost went to get sushi for a second dinner... Don't come with an appetite, or come with a fat wallet! read more

Excellent first experience here for lunch! At the suggestion of the friendly server I tried the pizza with Gorgonzola, pickled onions, etc. It was so flavorful and the ingredients really complemented each other. My favorite was the side of chili infused oil and fresh oregano stems leaves that came on the side. Wow! Fresh oregano is going to be my new staple when making pizza at home. Place is much needed for the area and it's fresh, airy and not overdone decor.
