We arrived early on a Friday evening, and thankfully it wasn't crowded. Since they don't take reservations, getting there early is definitely the way to go. We ordered the Dealer's Choice, which was refreshing, balanced, and beautifully presented. We also tried one of their stronger signature cocktails, and they definitely don't hold back -- there's a reason they limit those drinks to two per person! Both drinks were creative and well-crafted. The bartenders clearly know their craft, and the drink presentation was outstanding. Service was good, although not especially memorable, which is why I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5. One thing that would make the experience even more immersive would be if the entire staff wore cowboy attire to match the Old West theme. With the speakeasy setting and vintage decor, it would add a fun touch and make the experience feel even more authentic. Overall, Twain Speakeasy offers excellent cocktails, good music, and a unique atmosphere. I would definitely come back again, and my recommendation is to arrive early since reservations aren't available and I can see this place filling up quickly on busy nights.

We were part of a large group staying at the hotel as we were all attending a wedding nearby. The bar's central location made for a convenient meeting spot. The bar is large with a lot of bar top seating and even more 4-tops behind. The live music was great and pumped up the energy and vibe of the entire place. As mentioned, service was a bit indifferent and typically pretty slow. Not a lot of bartender/patron interaction, they were really busy at night, so understandable. Yet even during morning hours when it was slow the bartenders weren't especially personable.

Luis Rey's doesn't open until 4:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays. The NFL kicks off at 10:00 AM on Sundays. Luis Rey's doesn't kick off until 1:00 PM. Sunday Night Football? You might miss the end of the game as Luis Rey's closes at 9:00 PM. They close at 9:00 on Thursdays also, so the end of the Thursday Night Football game is in jeopardy also. Monday Night Football? Forget it. Luis Rey's is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. We never actually went to Luis Rey's. We stayed one night at Pala on a Saturday; we were attending a wedding nearby. We had to get to the venue about the time Luis Rey's opened, and we didn't return until after they closed. Looked like a decent bar. If only they were open when sports are being televised.

Finally, the first guy came back, so I ordered it from him. As he was bringing it to me, I heard him tell one of the young servers, "Make sure it's medium rare". Wait, what?! That's my burger order! You're just now putting it in? WTF? Invisible indeed! Another 15 minutes went by before my burger and "frings" (fries and onion rings) arrived. I realize that the guy was keeping busy with the walk-up customers, but I was right there! Sitting right in front of him! I finished half of the burger and had a lot of rings and fries leftover and needed a to-go box. Good gawd! More waiting ensued. Posting this as a warning to anyone visiting Pala…read more We stayed over Memorial Day weekend and were incorrectly charged over $800 at the pool. It took more than a week to get the issue resolved. Unfortunately, my family visited again this past weekend (June 4-7, 2026) and experienced another problem. This time, we were charged at a restaurant and sports bar that we never visited. As of today, no one from the casino has contacted us to apologize or make things right. We've spent hours on the phone with both our bank and the casino, with no meaningful resolution other than having to cancel our credit cards ourselves to prevent the charges from going through. We are extremely disappointed. Our family has been coming to Pala for more than 25 years, and it's upsetting to experience these issues. If these unauthorized charges are happening to other patrons as well, that is very concerning. What a shame to see a place we've enjoyed for so many years leave us feeling this way.

The Thai-style New York steak, Khao Soi curry, and larb lettuce cups--all paired with a custom-crafted, half-Cranberry, half-Sprite. Before we even tasted the food, we almost ended up eating next door. The entrances are a bit of a maze, leaving us standing outside having a mini identity crisis about where we actually wanted to dine. Ultimately, we stayed the course and chose Same Same. The Larb Lettuce Cups: As a massive larb fan, I was hyped. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat. My wife officially dubbed it "lackluster." While the ground beef was seasoned and the lettuce was beautifully crisp, when the lettuce is the undisputed star of your larb, it might be time to reevaluate the recipe. The Yellowtail Ceviche: To recover from the larb disappointment, my wife ordered the ceviche. It was a step up, but for a Thai spot, it was missing that signature kick. It really needed a handful of jalapeños to wake it up. In fact, nothing on the table was truly spicy until I deployed their house chili oil. The Khao Soi Curry: This was the absolute hero of the night! It completely saved the meal. It was rich and delicious, and it paired unexpectedly well with our New York steak--even though the kitchen served it well-done instead of our requested medium-rare. As dinner went on, it became pretty clear that this spot might cater a bit more to the happy hour and drinking crowd, especially considering my Cranberry-Sprite mix was arguably the most flavor-packed thing on the table. That said, the service was fantastic. The staff members were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Pro-Tip: If you're ordering more than two items, do not let them seat you at the tiny tables for two. It's a high-stakes game of food Tetris you will not win. On the bright side, they earned major bonus points for boxing up our leftovers for us. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel like every restaurant should still offer that level of hospitality! Overall, I'd say give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a cool atmosphere, but I wouldn't rush off your couch to get there.
