It's okay if you're looking for a quick bite or drink but nothing more. Think of it as a lay over to where you want to go, a pit stop to your destination. Why? Well it's near a university, so it's supposed to be fairly affordable, but it's not. $7 or $8 per taco? Get real. Yes you read it correctly, that's for each taco. Sure they were good but it's hard to mess up a taco. The mixed drinks were good and dainty, small glasses, small portions but good. I tried one and it was served in a tall slim glass filled with ice from the bottom to the top. Let's talk about the food, they have appetizers and 2 main plates. I had a chicken chorizo sandwich. It was ground chicken and chorizo formed into a patty between two soft Chinese soft pancake buns type buns with onions and fingerling potatoes. "WHAT?" I know I know. I had to try it. I had to try it but removed the potatoes and ate them by themselves. My wife had tacos. Since it's next to a university, most of there customers were between 21 and 27. Other than another person sitting at the bar, they were only three people older than 40 at this place and that's including us. So if you're looking for a place to go out for dinner, this is not it even if you're a university student this is not the place for dinner if you're looking for a pitstop to grab a drink or a taco maybe this place. We have come here a couple times for drinks and I always have gotten the strawberry guava seltzer and I love it! It's a bit small inside but they have plenty of seating inside and outside. They also have a bar inside and there is a hostess stand right near the door and they are able to help with any questions and seating. Also everyone has always been kind and helpful. The food is definitely artisanal without any pretense. The food and flavor stand up. The bar's drinks are the same, very good but unique. The ambiance is really cozy. It's an outdoor bar being a jacket if you're coming during the winter. The service is excellent! Mark is a stand up guy. Stopped by to grab a drink and chill out as we waited for the UCR Battle of the Bands to kick off. We sat at the bar (always one of my favorite places to sit to watch the bartender work their magic), seats were comfy. There is some seating inside as well as outdoors (covered and shady). The staff was great, very welcoming. They had a nice happy hour menu too. Beers were around $8 and my Jameson club soda (which was Topo Chico and my favorite) was $17. Got there just before noon on a Tuesday and had our choice of tables. We ordered the breakfast burrito and an order of chilaquiles. Both were excellent and half the burrito is a great leftover. The burrito was huge! Staff was attentive, professional and personable. We sat outside and just as it was heating up, the misters came on and made it very pleasant. First time here at the farm house, boyfriend wanted a michelada so we stopped in here. We had the pleasure to be served by the bartender Jessica who we soon learned runs the bar program as well. First off it was the best michelada either of us had ever had. We also got the potato floutas which were amazing as well. My husband and and I tried bar ni modo for the first time ever we stopped by for an açaí bowl at blue bowl and decide to have a quick lunch at bar ni modo. The food is good you can tell it's fresh idk about organic or farm to table but it has oaxan influence with an American palate. I did not get to try the drinks because I forgot my passport and my ID was expired but my husband enjoyed the drink I ordered for him I forgot what it was. Our server seemed to avoid our table and acted like she was having difficulty understanding us -- even though we were speaking English clearly. It made the whole interaction feel uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Overall, the lack of attentiveness and the way we were treated left a bad impression. Bar Ni Modo has easily become one of my new favorite local bars. Their clarita's cafecito is one of my favorites & always tastes good. The foam is always perfect. Staff is also kind and attentive. My fiancé also really enjoys their old fashioned. We went recently on Halloween and they were giving out complimentary pan de muerto with every order. It was delicious, I also loved how they decorated for dia de los muertos. Honestly just a gem of a spot & they always have some kind of event going on. I have been here at least 5 times and I always have a wonderful experience every time. I love the coco mami drink--it's amazing for a sweet tooth like me that enjoys tropical flavours. The beef cheek tacos are also delicious! They are so well crafted and the flavour combination of the toppings & the beef cheek is complex in the best way. I get both every time. The menu is limited, but the few items that are on there are made very well. Second visit, this time for lunch and they did not disappoint!! All the food was amazing! This time around we tried the Carne Asada Hash, Panbazo, and Torta de Chilaquiles. The Hash is a new item and you can't go wrong with anything on their menu that includes their carne asada and salsa ranchera. We were skeptical about trying the Panbazo with their chicken chorizo but it had really great flavors and was cooked to perfection. The Torta de Chilaquiles was a flavorful combination of green chilaquiles with thick juicy chicken milanesa and pickled onions. The Tamarindo Lindo cocktail was recommended and did not disappoint, the flavors mixed nicely and made for easy drinking.
