Terrible experience! Fat bouncer was so rude to our group of parents. Bar still about 50 people in and son and his friends were trying to get in before they announced last call. Bouncer refused to let them in and was so nasty to our boys. Absolutely unacceptable. Do better at hiring, managers! Bar None's a cool bar, but you have to have the right mindset and expectations. There's been a few times that I've gone on a Friday or Saturday night and been disappointed, but I recently went during the week and had a great time. I asked what kind of seltzers they had, and after not being satisfied with the selection of flavors, the bartender offered to make me a comparable drink, which ended up being really good! In addition, the food is mainly just your basic bar food, but was actually really good! The chicken tenders and fries were solid, but the mozzarella sticks were great! The bartender (I wish I could remember his name) was really cool, and I was able to strike up a nice conversation with some other patrons. All-in-all, the best way to describe Bar None is that it's a great Sunday-Thursday bar, but maybe not the exciting bar you're looking for on a Friday or Saturday night. Amazing Irish pub / Dive bar. I loved the friendly and lively atmosphere and the good music selection playing in the background. Food is really good, definitely gotta try the Chicken Wings and Corndogs. I loved them! I'd give their wings a 10/10, French fries came in big portions. Been here before never left a review .. so boom .. random date night with the wife ... we wanted something simple ... she ordered a corn dog and cheese fries topped with jalapeños .. Yesterday, while I was in town for a conference, we took a small tour of the city. Our first accidental discovery of a bar was Bar None. There were fewer than ten people in the entire bar when we walked in. A few of the patrons greeted us as we sat down. After asking what we would have, the bartender arrived and brought us menus. There was no drink menu when he handed us the food menu. He said he could prepare any cocktail and that they had a full bar. We then requested a tequila-based drink. #1 The cocktail was not nice; he used too many components. #2 Asking for a card happened about five seconds after the drink was placed on the table. Although some patrons at the bar have not begun a tab, he clarified that this was protocol. A single party entered and sat at the bar without giving the bartender any money. A payment would have been expected from each person if it was standard procedure for everyone to open a tab. All in all, because of the bias, I will not be returning to this establishment and I do not suggest it to others. read more

Thought they were supposed to stay open until 4am but closed at 2am. Was not happy about this decision and it ruined my night.

Bartenders inside are usually attentive and nice, occasionally they will be distracted by some random guy at the bar yelling. Food will do in a pinch, but the doorman is the reason for the review rating. Last night I tried to bring my dog outside and sit away from others as much as possible and the doorman proceeded to take it upon himself and tell us "You really shouldn't bring dogs here. Some people don't like them." Although I've seen countless ankle bitters, medium and big dogs outside. I'm left to assume it's because my sweet dog is a pit mix. So we left and went to jakes! This place has great music, chill atmosphere and kind and attentive bartenders...but...this place has fleas, I had 4 fleas jump on the bar and one on my arm. Super gross. Fix this and it would have been a near perfect experience. I don't mean to upset anyone. Just want it to be known. Honestly for the bar. But maybe a patron near me had fleas. Excellent neighborhood style bar with friendly staff, kickin myself for not going here sooner. On tuesdays they alternate between smoked wings and brisket, come early because they go fast. Nice spot for late night eats and drinks. Very calm compared to the rest of five points during the evenings. They've got a shuffle board table, pinball machine to keep you and friends entertained. The wings are excellent and the rest of the food is as well. The staff can get overwhelmed on weekend nights due to how crowded the bar area can get, but with great atmosphere and staff, so the crowd is definitely deserved! This is my watering hole. I'm not one of the the late-night nighters anymore but will still hit this place up when I need to get out and about. Great music. Walls full of CDs. (Remember those?) TVs for sports. Good beer and liquor selection. Early night scene is older folks. Grad students, graduates, and on up. Late night is the early 20s crowd and the service industry folks getting off work. This is a Columbia staple. They're open until 6am and you can get food until 4am. (Get the fried mushrooms. Get. the bartenders at this bar are BEYOND rude, i ordered a side of ranch with my 8 DOLLAR cheese fries and all i had was my card. The bartender proceeded to call me a "child" and not accept my card. He was incredibly rude to me and the food is below par. Not to mention adding cheese to your fries is 4 DOLLARS. I will never go back. Bartenders should be fired for their attitude. I have always loved Bar None until last night. My boyfriend was showing his coworker from United Kingdom around and we chose Bar None for one of our stops. They asked for our id's like normal. We get in but our friend from the United kingdom didn't. I asked the bouncer what the problem was and he said we don't accept id's from there. We would've walked away and been whatever until he said we accept passports but not id's and we accept id's from canada. I find it crappy first off that you'd expect someone from a different country to even carry their passport around when you are at a bar. Honestly that could be regulations and I'm fine with that because every bar has rules but the way the bouncer came off was extremely extremely rude and condescending and no other bars in five points had no problem with his id. read more

Hands Down - this is the best bar you'll ever go to in the world, in your life. Ok, ok.. so I may be a little biased - I went to USC and then stayed in Cola for 6 years afterwards and I spent way too much time at this bar, but it's only because it is truly an amazing place. What makes it so great? Here's my Top Ten Reasons: 1) They hardly have any turnover, so for the 10 years I frequented this bar, I always knew someone that was working there - and they knew me! I thought Bar None would be a different experience later in life. Okay...so maybe it was as I wasn't seeing double when I left. The great thing about Bar None is just about everything. The food and drinks are inexpensive and good. The music is great and the bartenders are cool to take requests if you have a good ear for music. Bar None always seems like a place to wind it down a bit with their "In-House" shuffleboard table...but wind down...it does not. This place can be slammed at 3 in the morning...maybe because it's the only place open...but it's great just the same. Smoked wings are the best I've ever had (beside maybe Fox Brothers in Atlanta). However, they only do them every other Tuesday. They do brisket on the other Tuesdays. You'll wait about 15-20 minutes if you order them at the bar but it is totally worth the wait. read more

One of the best bars in Columbia. No, Bar None isn't as cheap as some of the underage dives that surround it in five points, but it is more than worth it in my opinion. You never wait in a line at the door. Even when it is packed (which is usually after 2:00 am) you can almost always find a table if you want to sit down and the bar is full. If you start frequenting there you will always know someone working because they have amazingly low turnover. They have a plethora of games including shuffleboard and electronic games, and they are open late. One of my favorite bars in Columbia. I started going here when I was in college, and I still try to hit it up when I'm in the five pts area. The first time I went, they welcomed me, and even gave me my first beer on the house. You really can't go wrong with their late night bar food, the mushrooms are amazing, the chicken strips TDF, and the pizza, well it's nothing special, but still pretty damn good! Love the music too.
