RACIST STAFF! My boyfriend and I just tried to eat at Bar Nova. The hostess sat us outside but when we realized that some tables opened up inside a couple of minutes later, we asked to go inside and were seated at a high top. There were empty tables on either side of us. A few minutes later, a couple got seated to our right and the female server with a black mask immediately attended to them and got their orders. Another few minutes later, a group of four were seated to our left and the male server with a yellow plaid shirt immediately attended to them and got their orders. A total of 20 minutes passed and although we repeatedly made eye contact with the two servers and the hostess since being seated, our orders still weren't taken. It is absolutely infuriating and humiliating being treated less than. We probably should have realized we weren't welcome at Bar Nova when we were the only people of color there on a busy night. read more

Stopped in for dinner last night. It was pretty crowded in this quaint restaurant but had a cozy atmosphere. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. Ordered a few things to share for dinner. The Cuban sandwich was very good- I loved the honey mustard on it. The wood fired pizza was nice and thin with a good crunch. The kitchen was willing to make both items without cheese due to my dairy allergy. My boyfriend tried the meatballs, as we've heard they're delicious. My husband and I still enjoy this place! Their martinis are on point. The service is always excellent. We have never had a bad meal. Sometime we go and enjoy a bunch of different appetizers and sometimes we order dinners. The staff is amazing and attentive. I'm so happy a private owned restaurant went in here. I had no idea Bar Nova existed, when I stumbled onto a FB post about this place I had to give it a try. Sat at the bar, dining alone. Bartender was great, knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. Ordered the fresh mozzarella cheese squares as appetizer which was delicious and entree Cavatelli with braised beef was also amazing. I will say however, the Cavatelli was "swimming in sauce" my plate had 60% sauce to 40% pasta so next time I will ask for 80/20 pasta to sauce. Would have given five stars otherwise read more

This is a nice little place with a great cocktail menu, and very good food. I highly recommend the Maple Old Fashioned! My girlfriend loves French onion soup, and said theirs is one of the best she's had. I had a pork dish that was on the specials menu and it was excellent. We'll definitely go back. read more

This place is fantastic!!! It was our first time at Nova yesterday and what a treat this place turned out to be. From the hostess beautiful smile to our excellent server Desiree, the bar tender who brought our food, to the actual food itself our lunch experience was great!!! Meet balls and mushroom flat bred were superb! French fries crispy and hot, like the supposed to be! Plain hamburger for my husband ( meat and potatoes type of guy) was very good as well! Love this place! Always enjoyed Nemo's Grille, and this spinoff does not disappoint. Cocktails are great pours, and the bar staff is very good. Been here a bunch and there are so many great menu items! Burgers are outstanding, but my favorites include: The short rib Cavatelli (big portion, so good!), Short rib tacos with manchego cheese cole slaw (3 soft tacos, plenty for a meal), and the Cuban sandwich is the best on the west side. I love to order a meal and take home a Cuban for lunch the next day. I so wanted to give them 5 stars, but I think the wine by the glass selection needs to either expand or rotate more often. Food tonight was great. Service too was fantastic. It was the first Fri of Lent. My only complaint is how LOUD it was. Maybe I'm getting old, but we could barely hear my husband's aunt and uncle. Lots of groups of insanely loud women who don't know how to use inside voices. My ears are literally still ringing. We sat on the enclosed porch, but the bar area was even louder. This place might be better visited early week when not so crowded. Hopefully, they can do something to dampen the sound. read more

If I could give them no stars, I would. I've got to kind of agree with the lady that says the staff are racist. My husband and I went in and were told it would be a few minutes for them to clean off a table. 15 minutes later another (white) couple walks in and are seated outside which we declined to do. When the other couple came back in because it was too cold they were seated at the bar ahead of us. Another 10 minutes later and we're told we would have to get on the waitlist because the table they were going to sit us at was now magically reserved. Best French Onion Soup on the planet ! This is a very small venue with limited seating. Nice for two to four people but not good for large gatherings. Their burgers are also very good. Noise is a problem due to poor acoustics. Overall a place worth trying. read more

Bar Nova is excellent! I've driven past several times and have made a note to stop, and I'm glad I finally did. The decor has a rustic feel, and their new patio really is a beautiful, great spot to have a meal. We started with the queso fundido, and it was fantastic! A little spicy because it had chorizo, but that was what I loved about it. The chips were homemade and they were excellent! They were almost like a cross between pita bread and tortilla chips. Our group was raving about them. I had the Romano crusted chicken sandwich for dinner and it was fabulous as well. The flavor was very good and the portions are huge. I always like to have leftovers the next day, so that was a bonus. Overall a great spot for drinks and dinner, I can't wait to go back and try some more menu items. Keep up the great work! read more

Okay so I have to explain this review because the 3/5 stars is solely because of the atmosphere. We went to dinner here for the first time and the food was AMAZING. Our waitress was VERY good but the "outside" patio was terrible for sound. There was a group of 6 and the sound echoed so badly I couldn't even talk to my boyfriend at all, like I understand BAR Nova but the acoustics were so echoed I couldn't hear my boyfriend order his food and he was sitting right next to me. I didn't expect it to be quiet but we almost left because it was SO. LOUD. I would suggest to the owners to seriously consider some kind of privacy noise blockers or something. Anyways back to the other points. So I ordered the Mac and cheese and it was sooooooo good. The best Mac and cheese I have ever had in my life and I am an avid Mac and cheese lover. The food was so hot we had to wait for it to cool down before we could eat it (we were happy about this) the table and chairs were comfortable and I honestly prefer booths but I wasn't uncomfortable. Overall I did enjoy the food and would return but I wouldn't go again on a Saturday night due to the level of noice and the big inconvenience it provide for my boyfriend and myself. read more

I have to say I'm kind of floored. I think I had what might just be the best meatball sub I have ever had. FULL STOP. I am not exactly sure what made it so good- the fact that finally it was a sub where the meatballs weren't completely killed with garlic? Perhaps it was that the meat was so very tender, but still solid? OR maybe it was the delicious blend of cheese? The great bread? Oh my word. I'm sitting here stuffed and even though I can't fit in another crumb I am already thinking about when to have this again. It is a $14 meatball sandwich folks, and yep. I've been here twice and both times were very nice experiences. Food is fantastic and there's a great beer selection to choose from. The owner is very nice and greeted us when we arrived and when we left. This is a great place to go and have a craft beer without all of the crowds and craziness.
