The building is beautiful. The beer and drinks are great. The food and service are lacking. Table of 4 people. Appetizers came out and our server disappeared. When she reappeared we ordered our food. My husband's cold sub and fries came out and we asked about the rest of our ordered and were advised they were waiting on the small pizza I ordered. It took 20-30 minutes before we say the rest of our order and my husband was pretty much done with his food by then. My Caesar salad was drowned in dressing and the pizza was lukewarm at best and felt like cardboard. Burger was ok at best. Food definitely had been sitting. For the money we paid we could have gone elsewhere and had a better meal. Menu needs improving and cooks need to be better trained at how to send out food. read more

This place is great if you come on a weekday with a reservation! There is no timed dining like on the weekends with back to back reservations. Gavin was our server and he was awesome! Super attentive! Food: Skip the stuffed mushrooms but get the artichokes and fried pickles! Checked out Birdtown Brewing for dinner and really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. The brewery is located inside a beautifully restored 100-year-old church, and the space is stunning. It blends historic architecture, including stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings with a modern brewery vibe, which makes it such a unique place to dine. We started with the Fried Pickle Chips served with sriracha ranch. The housemade beer batter was so light and airy, making them some of the better fried pickles we've had. My youngest son ordered the housemade Italian Wedding Soup and was excited to see mocktails on the menu. He chose the tiramisu espresso mocktail and definitely felt fancy ordering it. My oldest son went with the Birdtown Classic burger topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, and gouda with fries. I ordered the Black & Blue burger with a peppercorn crust, crumbled bleu cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion with a side Caesar salad, while my husband chose the Mediterranean burger topped with lettuce, tomatoes, feta, tzatziki, housemade tapenade, and marinated cucumbers also with fries. Came here for lunch on a busy Saturday afternoon. Got lucky and was able to park in their lot. Not many spaces so it's good when you get one. Sat at the bar. Tables were open but they told us a 20 min wait so we sat at bar which is fine. Got a menu and it's Geraci's pizza. I grew up on a Geraci's pizza so that's great! They also had lots of apps, burgers, subs and such. I don't think you can go wrong. We got the Geraci's salad bowl and a large veggie deluxe. The salad bowl was not quite the same as the one I am used to. But it was OK. A bit smaller for the price. The pizza was the same . Tasted like old times and was good. They did not skimp on the toppings! I got the cider it was dry but not horrible. They have some IPA's not a big fan of IPA's. And other options. My partner got the strawberry julep. It was good she enjoyed. The bartender was nice and helpful. He was a good server too. Food came out within 10 mins. Sitting at the bar was good. The place is super cool. They have painted walls and the one end is all brewery and they have seating upstairs. Windows are stained glass. Cool space. We will be back. read more

Was in the neighborhood decided to give it a try. Thankfully wasn't busy as normal? But was still limited parking wise and there was a small wait when checking in. After trying to order a beer from the bar which was pretty hard. They really need to separate a seat section for bar orders. Was lucky enough to get two seats at the bar. The place was about 1/2 full and pretty loud. Tried the C2B IPA which the wife liked. I did the Basement Jacuzzi IPA and then sampled the Zen Arcade which I couldn't do. But maybe if I'd done in reverse would've been okay with. We then ordered small Honey Pie which was fantastic. Was interesting to see a Geraci's attached to this place. The pizza was the right amount for the wife and I with our beers. Will be back. Suggest anyone else looking for a new brewery to check out to check this place out. read more

I came in on a Saturday a few weeks after Birdtown opened. It was very crowded, but we had made reservations. It is a really cool building and their patio also looks really nice. It was so loud in there though that it was sort of difficult to have conversations with people at your table. I'd like to go back on a weeknight when it might be a little quieter. I had one of their hazy IPAs and it was fine. I didn't try any of the food, but the menu had quite a few options. I do wish there were more beers to pick from and maybe more fun flavors. I think Birdtown is a nice addition to Lakewood and I hope that they work out some of their starting kinks. read more

Went to Birdtown Brewing on Friday night and it was pakced! It is a loud venue that has an energizing atmosphere. Seating on the main level, a upper balcony, and the basement. The basement also has some games (pinball, bowling, pac man, etc.). My group had some mixed reviews on the food, but overall it was food. The buffalo chicken pizza's toppings were light, the stuffed mushrooms were dry, and the burger was just ok. The artichoke appetizer, pretzel bites, ceasear salad, and meat lovers pizza were delicious. I'd go again - now I just know what I wouldn't order again! What a great space. I appreciated the architecture and the reimagining of this historic church. I had been meaning to go to a similarly themed brewery near Toledo somewhere.....Father John's Brewery maybe? I am not sure if that's the exact name. It closed at some point; likely a victim of the pandemic. Anyhow, I was happy to hear of this place recently opening, a little closer to home. The food was good. I had a seasonal fig salad smothered in an oil-type dressing, which was pretty tasty, albeit maybe a bit overdressed. Whatever cheese they use on that salad is delicious and melts in your mouth. My son had wings and then he asked for pizza. So we had that too. Both were decent. I had a seltzer since it was such a hot day and I thought beer may just dehydrate me. We also sat outside, which I probably would not have done if I knew how much the sun would be beating down. The umbrellas do help, but they were not perfect shields on such a beautiful afternoon. All-around good place to visit. My recommendation would be a kids' menu of some sort. I was relieved to see plenty of other children there, but I think there could be a few tweaks done to the menu to accommodate them. Parents like to come to places like this, but often we do have our children with us. It was not crowded at all during my visit around 4:45 on a Sunday afternoon. Nice venue. read more

I was wary to try this place out so soon after opening, but they have their act together. Set in an old church, it is large and airy. There are three levels and you can sit in the choir area for a little more privacy. Cute little patio too if you'd like to be outside. Large bar if that's where you like to sit. I tried their signature IPA and it was delish. It is key they have hooked up with Geraci's, because the food menu is fabulous. However, none of that would matter if the service wasn't fabulous. They put together a great crew and Saturday craziness was handled professionally and efficiently. One more thing: great restrooms! read more

Several times I had to wave my hand up for him to see then he ignored me" it was not crowded plenty of empty tables'. I had the Birdtown salad. plenty of greens, it had the thinnest ham on top. I never tasted any salami, and they were very skimpy on the olives".Cheese?MAYBE 1 slice they cut up very thin also".Dressing was Vinegar they make. All I tasted was oil! Again, trying to get our waiter over. I asked for a different dressing one I can really taste. He came back with the same oil one and said they just made this fresh!! LOL So I wondered was the one on my salad NOT FRESH? Lol I had small pizza pepperoni and banana peppers. It was ok..I was full. All in all...we had a nice time...I wish the salad was really like the menu describes if, They need to actually add the ham, salami cheese olives like the menu says. The very extra thin ham was only i slice folded over on top ,capicola same 1 slice folded over on top. It looks really good but disappointing. Food is really solid. Loved the tavern style jalepeno honey pizza and the buffalo wings were good. Service was responsive and fast. Interesting way to repurpose an old church! We are local to Birdtown and we are excited for the vibrancy it will add to the neighborhood (as well as good pizza just down the block ). However, it was wayyyy too loud. I can appreciate how difficult it is to manage sound in a hall like that, but I could not hear our server across the table and had to constantly yell. Thankfully we are so close by so my wife and 13 week old could head home early as he was getting fussy from the noise. I saw that there were some sound deadening pads on a few parts of the ceiling, but more are likely needed, and I would be very careful with the music volume till other solutions are found. read more

Thirty-five minute wait, but half the tables were open. Finally got seated but were told there was a reservation in approx an hour and fifteen minutes so we had to be done by then. Stuffed mushrooms were dry and lacked flavor. Seltzer tasted rotten. It was a peach mango. Burger had no seasoning; asked for it medium and was extremely well done. Chicken parm was ok, not worth $26. Sauce had no seasoning. We were barely done before the reservation that we needed to leave for. Server was great. Attentive. Paid attention to detail. Manager was nice. Remove the over cooked burger. Did ask if we wanted it remade, but we didn't have time because of the reservation after us. Mexican lager was great. We won't be back. read more

I have been waiting for years for this place to open as I live fairly close by, but my first experience was very disappointing. I made a reservation two weeks in advance as they've been booked up. The reservation was early, too--5:30pm. When we arrived, we were escorted to the basement bar & seated at a high top with backless metal stools--very uncomfortable. The pizza and beer were good, but the atmosphere--glass block windows and pinball machines--was not at all what I expected. I complained to the hostess and just got, "we're really busy, so we are seating people down here." I emailed the restaurant and heard nothing. I get it--they are new and figuring things out, but if you are looking for ambiance or even a unique experience, I'd wait a while to visit. read more

I want to love this place; but after two visits I can't go higher than a like. It's visually a stunner...kudos to whoever saw the old bones of a 100 year old church and crafted it into a modern yet classical three level restaurant. The service here is competent. I just wish the beer & food rose to the impressive structure. It's a brewery, yet it only features a few of its own taps. The other offerings are guest taps, and not many of those either. Their IPA was full bodied and delicious but the Quail Ale was light in color and flavor. A generous serving of tasty whipped feta was frustrated by an embarrassingly small portion of toast points. We had three-quarters of dip left with nothing to dip it in. Come on, Birdtown, think! Geraci's has the food license here, so if you like their pizza you won't be disappointed. I thought it tasted okay, but I'm not a thin crust guy. I'll order flatbread if I want thin crust. Slightly dry pie too. No quarrel with a juicy charred burger, though. Delicious and would order again. The check arrives and 113 dollars later, it just didn't feel like a good value for the very basic food we ordered. read more

The waitress we had was really good. I wish I would've got her name, but we tipped her very well. The food was not great as far as the pizza mine was burnt on the bottom and not a fan of their tomato sauce it taste like canned tomato chunks very bland not a fan Me and my husband both got salads. They were OK very filling a very light dressing and needed more dressing. My husband got the meatballs they use the same sauce they do for the pizza which didn't make them taste very good. Their cheese sticks their little triangle squares, not sticks. They're OK nothing great. One of the men that works there he was an elderly gentleman with a pizza tie. I think he may just work for Gersaci pizza he came over to our table and asked us how her food was so I told him about the pizza and mine was burnt on the bottom and I wasn't a fan of their sauce. He was a very nice and tried to replace my pizza, but I didn't want one. The general manager, who is very very kind said he would take the pizza off the bill which he did that was nice of him. The atmosphere is nothing great I mean it's in a church but it's nothing great it's very very very loud in there. The music speaker was right over our table. I think they should turn the music down. Geraci's pizza. I have devoured Geraci's pizza for 60 years. The sauce is perfect. The crust is perfect. The pepperonis are off the chart perfect and the cheese just drips off the pizza. Birdtown is proud to have Geraci's as a part of their menu. However, the pizza was not so good. It was cooked so long that the cheese was burnt and it tasted ordinary. I am pleading with Geraci's to not allow your reputation for the best Pizza in the United States to be damaged by mediocre pizza. Tell the people at Birdtown to get it right.
