Moved to Crocker Park last fall, finally getting out and finding the local hot spots. Food and environment is perfect. I was recommended to try their pizza from a friend, but they had a Ruben as the weekly special. Never pass up a special and definitely never turn down a Ruben, it was a 10/10. First, let me say that we have always liked it here until today. We were looking forward to getting out for for a nice meal. We saw that they did brunch, so it sounded like a good idea. My wife started with the Avon brunch punch. She ended up not finishing it. After I had a sip, I understand. I had the Bloody Mary, which I did enjoy. The French toast was fair at best. Kind of heavy and not that tasty. I had the Barbacoa hash. This is where things went off track. I had asked for the potatoes to be crispy.The dish came out with two extremely over cooked eggs. Hash crispy, eggs over easy was the goal. Over easy was over cooked. You want the the yolks to break and be a nice accompaniment to the hash. They were solid. The staff was clearly thin, as it took a while to get it corrected. Then, the young man, patronizingly, brought out two more eggs that were snotty and sunny side up at best. He said we did them under for me. I tried to even stop him from even making them, but again, they seemed under staffed. I did not eat the eggs. I ate about half of the hash. Barbacoa was non existent, as in, very little meat. The toast was dry, cold and could not melt butter Half the food went back to the kitchen. They need to figure out how to cook an egg, as it is brunch. Overall, it was not as good of an experience as we had hoped. read more

The food was lovely and not overpriced. Only bummer was the server was obviously in a bad mood and hardly spoke. No suggestions... Just 'are you ready?' Never smiled and I felt like we were bothering her. My boyfriend loved his tacos and I was pleasantly surprised but the farmers salad. Asparagus was prepared very nicely. I highly recommend this comfy yet classy restaurant/bar. I came to Bar Nova for dinner this evening and ordered a chicken pesto flatbread and a cup of tomato bisque soup. Both items were absolutely amazing and perfectly cooked. The staff is extremely friendly, easy going, and professional. Over all this is one of my favorite spots in Avon and I will of course be returning for more excellent dinners and fun nights at the bar. read more

Nice surprise! We randomly stopped at this little gastropub in our way back from an event. We had French onion soup, tomato bisque, walleye tacos, Mac n cheese and buffalo deviled eggs. We were very pleased with everything we tried. Next time I'm in the area I'll be sure to stop! read more

Used to eat here religiously until I found out I had a gluten allergy. We came here and they said they had gluten free crust (cauliflower) which I was extremely happy that they did, unfortunately the menu doesn't state the option nor the upcharge but I don't think much of it $2-3 is standard, however once the check came it's an extra $7.00. That's a bit excessive and should most definitely be stated on the menu. A normal flatbread runs around $11 as is... so I was disappointed with that. Also the crust should be cooked a little bit longer it was soggy and floppy. Otherwise everything else was good read more

First time here and NEVER again .....If I could leave negative stars I would. They forgot our entire order an hour goes I say to the manager did you forget our order he say no the kitchen is "plating" your food now ... 15 more minutes goes by and still nothing. Then he comes and says we are boxing your food no charge. Another 15 minutes. So they just get us out. We come home and the food was poorly handed out we got short rib hash I find not a bit of short rib in the meal. Terrible customer service. I would never recommend this place!! Also who serves cold "fresh" coffee. If I didn't have three children to pack in the car I would have taken the food back to them to depose of it themselves. read more

The servers are always very engaging and willingly participate in friendly banter. The bartenders are very engaging. It is an inviting and comfortable environment. This is not your standard bar! Been to Bar Nova a handful of times now and it is consistently good food & service. Also nice that they have some very good wine selections as well as good beer choices. Seems more and more the hubby's happy bc most places have a ton of craft brews, but many have no wine choices or nasty cheap wines which leaves any of us who prefer wine wanting to go somewhere else. The Mac n cheese as well as all the other entrees I've had were all very good. It's a small place so don't roll in at peak times on a fri or sat night and expect to sit right away. Don't overlook this small pub as it was a solid early dinner option after being on the road for awhile. The decor was comprised of a rustic style while maintaining its clean nature. The staff was super friendly and helpful in determining our orders. They had an extensive beer listing with options for everyone. I got a meatball sub, while the rest of my family got the grilled cheese and Mac and cheese. Everything was great, and we would definitely stop by this quaint pub if in this part of town. read more
