Biscuit with sausage, egg and cheese. The tomato jam was the star!!
    Reggie B.

This was my first time visiting Bar Pomona. Upon entering, the staff greeted us warmly and told us to sit wherever we chose at the bar or a table. We chose to sit at a table at the front window to get natural light. For breakfast l, I chose the biscuit with cheese and sausage. At the outset, let me tell you the tomato jam was THE BOMB!!!! I loved the texture of the biscuit....flaky, buttery but not oily and soft. The sausage had a nice flavor that complimented the cheese and biscuit perfectly. We also ordered the French toast. I'll let you judge from the pictures, but the French toast was nothing like your typical slices of bread. This was a WEDGE cut that had toasted almonds all over and toasted to a nice exterior crispy (not hard) and soft interior. While I didn't order it for my meal, I went in for the first bite and OMG!!!! I don't know if I can go back to standard slices after THIS WEDGE of Wonderfulness! The venue is small, but cozy. I can imagine sitting at our table for long moments with a pastry, coffee and likely a mimosa. The staff was attentive to our needs without being intrusive. We will certainly return to Bar Pomona.

My partner and I were staying in the Marigny area while visiting NOLA and went to Bar Pomona for brunch on late Saturday morning. We were so glad to find this place! I ordered a coffee flip, which was a non-alcoholic play on a cocktail with milk and egg whites for frothiness. Our food -- the Turkish eggs and the bacon egg + cheese biscuit -- were both delicious. All of the staff were friendly and kind, and we picked up some Jamboree Jams to take back home with us, which are for sale along with some other small goods within the restaurant. We would absolutely come back here again and recommend to friends!

We joined them in the courtyard, which had a giant canopy set up overhead protecting them (and us) from the pouring rain. It was such a fun, impromptu, New Orleans experience, dancing to the band and enjoying a wonderful glass of wine and champagne cocktail from the bar. They have a very extensive wine list, over 50 wines by the glass, many reasonably priced. It has an upscale, luxurious, yet comfortable vibe. It is small, so fills up quickly. Patrick serves a wonderful traditional Sazerac. We stopped by after enjoying preservation hall jazz for a cocktail to relax. A second hidden gem, Patrick's is connected and has a interior entrance to a beautiful courtyard. You can sit and enjoy your drink, in the relaxing courtyard. We sat in the courtyard, looking up to see stars over our head. I'm always amazed that in the courtyard. It is quiet the noise of bourbon street and festivities in the streets are eliminated. Enjoy your drink, relax, and enjoy Patrick's excellent bar.

Rich, layered, and well-balanced with fresh elements that worked together on the plate. For entrées, we had a variety of cuts, including the Australian Wagyu, ribeye, butcher's cut, and lamb chops. The Wagyu stood out immediately. High quality, great sear, and finished tableside, which added to the overall experience without taking away from the food itself. Each steak was cooked precisely to temperature and full of flavor. The lamb chops paired with carrots and brussels were well executed and balanced. The sides complemented the meal well and did not feel like afterthoughts. You can also see their in-house dry aging setup, which speaks to the level of detail they put into their steak program. It shows in the final product. The drinks were solid across the board. The Old Fashioned and bourbon selections paired well with the meal and matched the food's quality. Service by Noelle was attentive and responsive throughout the night. Everything flowed well, and we were taken care of without feeling rushed or hovered over. This is not a casual dinner spot, but for a celebration or a night where you want a full experience, Doris Metropolitan absolutely delivers.

It started the moment we walked in. Glancing at the hostess, asking "OK to sit at the bar?", getting a nod, sitting down. An experience we've done in hundreds of restaurants. (We had reservations for a table but often prefer the bar.) The bartender -- whom we believe was named Mike -- started off his interaction with new customers as follows. "Did you check with the hostess?" I nodded in the affirmative, apparently that wasn't enough. "Check with the hostess", he ordered. I got up, went over the hostess stand, and confirmed, this time so "Mike" could see, that it was OK for us to sit at a half-empty bar. (In retrospect, we should have gotten up and walked out immediately, but it was late and even in the Quarter most places were closing for dinner.) You see, Mike clearly didn't want to be working that night. He was rude, inattentive, and condescending. And not just to us, to everyone seated at the bar. Slow making drinks, slow asking for orders, seething contempt for his customers. One time we asked to see a drink menu to decide on a new drink, he said, and this is a direct quote, "Do you want to see it or do you want to review it?" Mike's behavior was clearly well-known to the staff, because another staff member, who was off-shift and next to us at the bar, witnessed this behavior and arranged for a free dessert on the house (classy move on her part). She confided in us that Mike's pretty much always like that, but that he's a buddy of the general manager so seemingly un-fireable. Well, here's hoping someone reads this and thinks the better of Doris Metropolitan, or at least sitting at the bar. Unless you think service you'd get in a Paris tourist trap cafe is appropriate for a high-end steakhouse, you're better off spending your hard-earned money elsewhere.

There's a balcony that you can relax on for free, with visuals of intimate activities that range from BDSM to DDLG (Daddy dom/Little girl). Needless to say, this wouldn't be suitable for anyone who isn't comfortable with that kind of artwork. This place advertises burlesque shows and "Shibari", however I did not see any of that during my visit. I do not dock points though because I'm certain there's a schedule that shows when these events occur. If you're interested in seeing one, best to make sure when they're taking place. There are security cameras all over the bar so this location can remain sex-positive and safe for guests. After ordering myself a drink, I chose to relax in their bright pink room with the large bean bag and teddy bear. This was my favorite spot for its light-hearted and playful atmosphere, although the room next to it was pretty exciting as well--with its black-and-white paintings of kinky exhibitionists. During my visit, I noticed that there was a collection of leftover glasses from previous guests. Since it was a slow Sunday night, I thought there would've been ample time for an employee to clean up that area beforehand. There was one barista that night, and while she was kind and made excellent cocktails, her voice was really low--making it difficult to hear her over the music. I'm glad the bar was empty, or else I may have not been able to hear her properly. Aside from those minor concerns with cleanliness and communication, I'd still say to give Fetiche Nola a shot if you're looking for a unique place to start off a long night of partying. With its creative cocktail selection along with its sexually inclusive vibes, you could be sure to have one heck of a time!

Though pop-up showers were still lingering, my husband and I decided to take a gamble on courtyard dining--and I am so glad we did! Sheltered under the green umbrellas surrounded by historic brick walls, lush greenery, and rain-kissed citrus trees, the atmosphere was incredibly romantic and peaceful. The courtyard's intimate layout even brought a bit of extra magic to our evening. We sat near another wonderful couple (and their adorable daughter) and became fast friends, sharing laughs and conversation throughout the night. What truly anchored the experience, though, was the incredible service. The staff was remarkably personable, helpful, and welcoming. The dinner itself was excellent from start to finish, showcasing immense culinary skill across every dish. We started with the delicious brussels sprouts and a uniquely seasoned spring/summer gumbo that was unlike any version we've had before (oh, what I would give for the recipe). As for the entrées, the shrimp and grits were phenomenal, and the blackened catfish sandwich with a fresh salad was executed flawlessly...and the bread pudding was fantastic, too! It is rare to find an experience where top-tier hospitality, a breathtaking environment, and great food come together so (seemingly) effortlessly. Café Amélie is an absolute must-visit! We will be back.
