Came to Bar West for the festive vibe for the holidays! Nicely decorated and fun, who knew Christmas bows could make such great decorations! Food was good... wasn't able to order an actual dinner meal at 3pm which was kinda eh, but the happy hour small bites were tasty (the crab dip was so good). Got a holiday drink, it was ok. Prices were good. Had to find street parking but got lucky. Waitress was attentive but things didn't always go smoothly, no fault of her own but more so the establishment (no dressing for salad, ordered dinner meals to then be told kitchen wasn't prepared for that). Having Santa walking around greeting customers was a nice plus.

I love Bar West! I have gone a few times over the last 6 months and have had a great experience each time. Most recently, my fiancé and I went for dinner and sat outside on the patio. It was bit chilly but we were close to the outdoor fireplace. Between that and the over head heaters we were perfectly comfortable despite chilly temperatures outside of the patio. I ordered the Shamrock Shake cocktail (with lucky charm marshmallows!) and it was perfectly delicious and nostalgic. It was on the sweeter side but one cocktail was just enough. The crab dip was also fabulous and we ordered fresh bread to go along side it. For our main dishes, I ordered the edamame crunch salad with salmon and my fiancé ordered the pretzel burger special. Both were fantastic. Bar West is definitely one of our go-to spots for great food, service, and ambiance.

I've been a handful of times over the years and have had good experiences. I most recently visited for a girls brunch a couple of weekends ago. We made a reservation and were seated at a high top right across from the open kitchen. I appreciated this and made sure I sat as close to the kitchen for warmth as possible! I was surprised to see the space decorated for Valentine's Day, but it was a cute touch. I ordered a latte and added vanilla; it was pretty good. For my meal, I had the skillet bowl with rib eye. They seemed to forget the cheese but I had it loaded with queso so that helped. It was tasty and warmed up well. Service was a little slow but we had a lot to yap about so it was okay. Parking was easy out front, and my friends parked in their lot in the back.

Met a friend on an evening overcast afternoon and we sat outside. This use to be cafe caturra which I really miss but seems like they have the tomato soup caturra use to have at least. The patio has fans and a fireplace which is helpful to keep away flies in the summer and a nice heat source in the winter. Service was quick, friendly and helpful. Terrence suggested the Trio option for the best value which I liked but the turkey bacon ranch was not as tasty as it sounded. Kind of on the bland no side. Really enjoyed the tomato soup and the salad was just okay.

Right away I was greeted by my server Terrence who had a perpetual smile and a very fluid motion to his step--not sure I've ever noticed that in a server--graceful w strength. At any rate, he was extremely friendly and kind, even bringing my dogs a water bowl unasked. I ordered a sparkling wine (happy hour) and some dog biscuits (there's a dog menu!) to start, and a gin cocktail with some PB Pup Cups for the dogs next. The covered patio has fans so it was easily 20 degrees cooler sitting there outside than walking my dogs on the sidewalk. The covered patio is very elegant compared to the typical umbrellas on tables on concrete elsewhere, and has a fireplace and a couple of tv's too, though I was happy music was being piped outside over the tv volume being unmuted. People visiting all seem to love dogs. 5 stars! We'll be regulars walking from Carytown I suspect.

Wowza, I thought I had added my previous photos from before it was changed to Bar West, but because it looks amazing..I have to leave it attach. (it's the NY Strip, Broccoli, and Coco loco.) It was girl's night out and we decided to hit this place up when it had changed. Be prepared to park at a distance because there is limited parking in the back and you should be able to parallel park on Grove. I lucked out and somehow got a spot in the front of the restaurant. I had a couple of drinks at the bar while it was HH and I was waiting for the rest of my group to show up. It was us 5 ladies and got to sit in a very large booth area inside the restaurant. The server was fantastic. His recommendation was great and would totally get the same order the next time I am here. The group decided on splitting the nachos as the appetizer. The cheese pour pretty much sums up what we thought of this amazing dish and portion to share among all of us. As for the entree, I got the server's recommendation of their spicy fried chicken sandwich with pasta salad. OMG, no regerts. This sandwich....AMAZING. I haven't had a delicious fried chicken sandwich like this in a very long time. The pasta salad was a great side to have as well. Again, it was a great chicken sandwich and I would recommend it to anyone else who reads this review. haha. Enjoy!

We have eaten here a few times and it is always good. There is some limited parking behind the place but lots of street options. They have a decent cocktail and beer offering. The four of us had a mix of entrees... mostly a mix of salmon and steak. All of which was good. They do have indoor and outdoor seating. Our service has always been good and the place gives off a positive feeling that makes you want to relax and talk with friends.

Had such a good time last week! I got the pulled pork grilled cheese with a side of pasta salad and it was so good! The staff was lovely and it was certainly a happening place on a Friday night! I got an espresso martini which was also great. Prices were reasonable and overall a great experience!

A fun setting and delightfully decorated. We enjoyed our experience. A little loud with a "bar"'feeling. The drinks and food were both good. We loved seeing Santa!! Our server was really good as well.

Super delicious! Definitely slow slow service on a Saturday brunch, but I will definitely be returning.

    Draft strawberry lemonade

Came here on a whim because I wanted a strawberry lemon drop. I ended up getting a draft strawberry lemonade (I think that's what it's called) and it was DELICIOUS. I downed the first one and ordered two more. Con here is that I wasn't even slightly tipsy after 3 drinks which is rare for me. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich from their all day menu since we arrived right before the end of lunch. It's a pretty large sandwich and I gotta say it's pretty tasty. The dill aioli is good and I'm not a person who likes pickles. Wish my fries were fresher but they were tasty. Overall, it was a good time. The staff was nice. The atmosphere is laid back. They've got TVs available for sports. I would come back here.

Checked out Bar West it's so cute inside! Got to sit at the bar and the service was amazing. I went for their happy hour which was a really good deal $6 for select cocktails that are decent. I didn't love their calamari it was on the sweeter side which isn't my favorite. I also got the fried chicken sandwich (spicy) and it was good! I'd definitely come here for their happy hour deals!

There were only a couple of tables available, but they were clearly well staffed. We were greeted immediately at the door, and it was obvious there were multiple managers on the floor making sure everything was running smoothly. The ambiance struck the perfect balance--upscale yet approachable. It felt polished without being stuffy or overly formal. The lighting was just right, creating a comfortable atmosphere for dinner, and they offered a nice selection of beverages and cocktails. The food absolutely delivered. My friend ordered the Cobb salad with fried chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked and lightly breaded--not overly heavy at all. His only suggestion would be swapping the mustard-based dressing for something brighter, like a lemon or citrus vinaigrette, since it competed a bit with the blue cheese crumbles. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with shrimp, and it was fantastic. A small detail that made a surprisingly big impression: the shrimp tails had already been removed! It's such a simple thing, but not having to stop and pick tails off while eating made the meal that much more enjoyable. The dish was perfectly balanced and delicious exactly as served--I wouldn't change a thing. My martini was also expertly made. No notes there either. The restaurant attracted a friendly, well-dressed crowd, adding to the overall experience without feeling pretentious. It's also easy to find, located on the corner of the shopping center with Trader Joe's and Planet Fitness. Granite Grill exceeded my expectations, and I'll definitely be back. Great food, attentive service, an inviting atmosphere, and excellent attention to detail. Highly recommended.

I had the salmon salad and it was the perfect size. The lemon dressing was delicious too...not too tart. We finished with the brownie sundae and it was so good. The perfect ending. Service was fantastic and very attentive. We were well cared for.

Northerners pay attention…read more.. The pizza here is as good as it gets in Richmond. One bite and I was transported back to Brooklyn and the endless string of afternoon visits to my neighborhood pizza place. The pie was hot, cheesy, oily, and the crust, oh that crust! The pizza at Galley-To-Go is a trip back in time. Speaking of time, you will spend some here if you are planning to enjoy a pizza. Average waits for a pizza are at a half hour, but on a weekend evening, you can easily wait double that time. I don't mind waiting for good food, but I think the staff needs to be educated in being able to remind or even warn potential guests (especially first-timers) that their early night may become compromised, or if you have small children, you may do better in their regular "Galley" restaurant just a door away. The back-story behind how this transformed Asian restaurant became an RVA pizza mecca is intriguing and quite involved, but the short version is a New Jersey native who worked for the owners of the Galley named Guistino Riccio brought his family recipes to the Galley's managers, and they were immediately sold. When they transformed the former Mandarin Palace restaurant (the name still sits above the restaurant's doorway, as do other relics that remind you of the space's previous tenants), they put pizza ovens in the kitchen and a neon sign offering "Guistino's Pizza" over the kitchen entrance. Local legend says the owners are still arguing over the name of the "Galley to Go" space (part coffee shop, part grocery store, part cafe), but who cares if the pizza is this good. Well, you might if you want to get in and get out in a hurry (so order ahead, many do), OR if you want to adjust your pizza toppings. No substitutions for the varieties of pizza are permitted (a little concerning if your allergy requires a vegan pizza, which they offer but no protein is on it). So if you are willing to live with the potentially long waits, the small pizza oven capacities (we were told a 20-pie limit at any given time, so if there is a big to-go order, well, just enjoy your beverage SLOWLY while you wait), and the rigidity of the pizza menu (there are other menu items besides pizza but they are not the main draw here...) the Galley to Go may be your RVA pizza destination for a long time to come. I had the second half my pie the next day reheated, and it was just as good as my first bite, a sign that whatever they do in that kitchen, although a labor of love and long waits, is worth its weight in gold.

They also serve coffee and beer. Once I got to the right shop I ordered 2 GIUSTINO'S PIZZA's to go. They are about 12 inches. I was only feeding two adults so we probably could have just shared one. I came on a Thursday night and they said I would be 20min. But it was more like 10. I got the sausage and Fennel which is their House Mozzarella, Parmesan, Fresh Cracked Black Pepper all for $10.95. Boyfriend got the Sweet Hot which is Tomato Sauce, Pepperoni, House Mozzarella, Parmesan, Honey, Roasted Calabrian Peppers, Chili Oil and costs $11.95. So a pretty good value! We also tried some prepared meals to go like their chicken salad that was $5 for 11oz and their clam chowder. Both good. They also sell nightingale ice cream!
