One of the most spectacular meals I have had on island. Second time I have been to this establishment and I will definitely be going again before I leave. We went around lunchtime during the dead period so the service was quick and the place was not relatively busy. Our server, Conrad (who I believe is the manager) was excellent and was very welcoming and accommodating to any questions. The space inside is beautifully decorated and had great natural lighting. On the day we went, the specials were a scallion pancake topped with smoked salmon and calamari, both of which we got. We also ordered a shrimp tempura avocado roll and a salmon poke bowl. Scallion pancake (9/10) - Not sure the smoked salmon paired perfectly, but it was fantastic nonetheless. Not quite as good as Nautilus' scallion pancakes if you are looking for something truly amazing. Calamari (11/10) - Now, I am not sure if they offer this every day but if they don't, they should. This has got to be the best calamari I have had in my whole life. When it came, it looked a little inconspicuous and not like your typical calamari you would get - but boy was it good. My sister and I both looked at each other with wide eyes after trying it because it was just that good. This is a must have if it is available the day you go. Shrimp avo roll (7/10) - A little bland and pricy but I think the same can be said for everything on Nantucket... Liked the sauce on top Poke bowl (7.5/10) - Best (and basically only) place to get poke on island. The rice was well seasoned and the bowl had a good amount of toppings. Wide variety in choices for proteins. Salmon was great. Additionally, they timed the courses very well. A lot of time on island there will be a large lapse between the starters and the main course but the staff did a great job firing the main course after we finished the starters. We stopped in during COVID on a sunny Sunday afternoon in early September. We were immediately greeted by a young man and seated for lunch outdoors. The server was very polite and nice and took our order right away. We ordered the edamame, shrimp shumai, tuna ceviche, tuna and scallion roll and the tuna tempura roll. The food was delicious! We loved the sushi and everything seemed very fresh. My only note would be that the ceviche was served with a side of what looked like supermarket cheap tortilla chips, which seemed odd and kind of ruined the presentation. Other than that, everything was very good. I'm not sure why everyone is complaining about the service and ownership; we did not encounter any issues at all in that area. What a special place! I had an outstanding dinner. I was warmly greeted and seated at a table by the window. The location on the water was beautiful, and my server Mack was exceptional. There wasn't even a rude manager... Our waiter was a really nice young man who checked on us often about the food and more water. For the food, I didn't mind at all! It wasn't low-cooked or over-cooked. It tasted pretty good for a Japanese Restaurant on an island. I gave it a 4-star only because the food was expensive. I went to bar Yoshi tonight for dinner and I was alone with my small dog and have never felt more welcomed! The young professional hostesses knew exactly how to manage my seating with the addition of my dog and make sure we were comfortable and the other guests were comfortable as well. Food is delicious; bartender is awesome; front of the house is arrogant and very attitudinal: we attempted to make a reservation via Resy which kept sending us error messages; when we attempted to call we were given a number to text so we texted and also left a voicemail neither of which was answered. When I inquired about the fee, she asked me about my morals! Disgusting! The restaurant also charges fees without informing their customers. We recently traveled to the Island of Nantucket and upon leaving the ferry, we we're walking towards town and spotted a Sushi Restaurant call Bar Yoshi. We decided to stop in and we were so glad we did. Since Sushi and Sashimi dishes are one of our favorite foods, we know quality when we see and taste it. Bar Yoshi delivered above and beyond what we expected. Great dishes, fresh and tasty with their own take on flavor. Servers were friendly and accommodating and the decor was exactly what you'd expect for a dockside restaurant, comfortable seating with an outstanding view of the boats I also found out later that their Sushi chef was the old Miya's Sushi Chef. Anyone who has eaten at Miya's in the past will absolutely love Bar Yoshi. I have only one regret, which is I didn't have time to have a drink at their new Raw Bar, O Bar, which is directly across from Bar Yoshi. Overall disappointing. The restaurant is not adequately staffed leaving literally 24 dining patrons to one server. In addition the server is also working the take out counter. So don't expect any service aside from the bare minimum. The sashimi was of poor quality and the cut was even worse. These were not sashimi cuts - let's be clear. Thin, flavorless fish - some pieces still inter-connecting leading me to believe "Yoshi" wasn't in he kitchen as these knife skills were non existent. The shrimp tempura roll was easily 7:1 rice to shrimp and also lacked any real flavor. Lastly and I credit the lack of staffing, the cleanliness has a lot to be desired. Your soy sauce on the table will have a residual stain on the top - it likely hasn't been cleaned this summer. read more

This place was amazing!!!! Conrad was able to get us a table last minute and took care of us like we were his personal friends. He was so efficient and helpful. As was the rest of the staff. Went for my wife's birthday. Arrived early and were seated at a great table by the open window. We sat for a while before a water took our drink order, it didn't appear anyone was actually assigned to our table as different waiters stopped by and asked if we had ordered yet, which we hadn't. My martini, ordered very dry, had so much vermouth it was undrinkable, so sent it back for a tannery and tonic. Not sure what I got, didn't resemble a T&T, but I choked it down to move on to wine. After a lengthy delay we ordered apps, delicious. The dumplings were excellent as was the salmon roll. After watching others who sat well after us finish their meals we still hadn't ordered dinner until my wife flagged down another waiter who then helped us the rest of the night. Dinner arrived after a lengthy delay and a different times. The udon noodles were pretty good but the poke bowl was pretty lame. Little bits of tuna and not much flavor. Our waiter who saved the day was really apologetic and comped us the dinners. I realize everyone is short staffed, but they seemed to have plenty of staff. Overall apps very good, drinks poor,entrees mediocre, service missed for us until we got some help. Can't blame covid for terrible drinks. read more

For some reason, whenever I'm near the water and amidst a sea (no pun intended) of lobster/mussel/oyster spots, I've never really stopped to consider sushi. Sushi by Yoshi is a nice, cozy restaurant near the docks, and their fish was fresh an generously cut. Specialty rolls weren't really that creative compared to spots I frequent in NY, but I guess they're going for the "purist" clientele. Seating is limited (expect a wait during peak season/times) and it's BYOB, so if you're drinking, put your name in and then grab some cold ones to bring back! Food was good, and this place is definitely worth your time if you're in Nantucket and want a change of pace from all of the New England lobster bakes! read more

Not only did Bar Yoshi upgrade their location, but they also upgraded the menu to set them apart from any Sushi eatery in New England, let alone Nantucket. I was visiting Nantucket in early October. They were one of very few spots on the Warf that were open and operating at full capacity. The cleanliness of the restaurant is impeccable which made my fiancé and me very comfortable. We dined inside and did take out to our small cottage at the Boat Basin. The quality of the take out was just as good as the experience inside the restaurant. Each dish was fresh and delicious. The owner is engaging, funny, and even went out of his way to make us a new menu item he was testing out for next season. Since I was touring the Island with my fiancé (her second time in ACK) we also received some of the best local knowledge that made our experience unforgettable. Yoshi's is and will always be a go-to spot for us when we are on the Island. read more

Very rude and terrible customer service. I walked in to inquire about a table for 2 (midday), unknowing that the restaurant didn't serve anything in the middle of the day. The man at the door and young woman behind the register looked at me then immediately went back to their own conversation. Then finally acknowledged I was standing there. The man at the front very condescendingly told me I can sit outside to "take a load off" but that they don't open until 4:30pm. All in all. Very poor first interaction. Would never go back and spend my money on this establishment. "Reminds me of the sushi at my college cafeteria" was my first thought. Might just be the inflated Nantucket pricing, but the fish is not worth the price. Maki rolls are 6 piece instead of 8. Only Japanese beer is Kirinichiban, but they had run out when I was there and the only other option was a local brew that I didn't care for. Service staff didn't seem to be happy to be there. Probably my own fault, Nantucket as a whole is not really known for sushi. On the good side, the place has 6 or so tables in a cute room and feels quaint.
