This is Straight Wharf Fish, not to be confused with their main restaurant Straight Wharf Restaurant! SWF is to the left of their main restaurant and is more casual. They offer a seafood counter for fish to go, cooked food to go, and a sit down dining area. It's smaller but they had space for us to walk in. We sat at a table on the patio which overlooked the harbor it was super nice! We had the fish basket and opted to include fries, since it did not come with anything at all! We also had the oysters and the ahi tuna poke bowl. All which were very fresh and flavorful! They do have a full bar so we did do some spritz's! Service was friendly and upbeat. Lots of options to choose from on the island of Nantucket, and I'm very glad we tried this one! Located right next to the pier and ferry, it makes sense to grab dinner here before heading out back to Hyannis. There was a cute market attached although it was closed when we stopped in, or at least no one was over there. Service was friendly and we were seated inside nearly immediately. The chowder was so delicious, my son nearly licked the bowl. The lobster roll and salmon were both equally delicious and so friendly. Tables are bit cramped - me and another poor woman literally kept hitting each other with our elbows lol, but that's the price you get for being seated quickly! This place is beautifully set by the water. It's near the ferry port so lots of people come and go. They have a sit-down part and a to-go counter. We decided to sit and eat. Unfortunately the outdoor seating was booked (party of 5) so we sat indoors. It was quite busy for dinner. The menu is simple and just right. We ordered SO much food! The clam chowder was too watery for my taste. I'm a fan of thick hearty New England style clam chowder. I liked the onion rings with caviar but the batter took on most of the flavor. Caesar salad had a little twist: no croutons and topped with anchovies. It was yummy. Fish tacos were a hit; we ordered fried instead of grilled. The warm lobster rolls were delicious. I avoid gluten where I can so I got the fish sandwich without a bun. It was crispy on the outside, flaky and soft inside. Coleslaw made it whole. The rosemary fries and cornbread as sides were addicting! Key lime dessert was meh. It was busy but we got the attention we needed. The staff was friendly and had smiles on their faces. My girlfriends and I took a day trip to Nantucket and went to the Straight Wharf for lunch. We were pleased we didn't have to wait in line and the staff were all so pleasant and helpful. Our waitress was particularly nice! I wish I got her name to shout her out here. I was recommended here for their lobster roll and it was one of (if not) the best lobster rolls I've ever had. I kind have been telling everyone about Straight Wharf Fish. A new player on the block/wharf - it's casual, but still upscale, with a covered dining area on the water and a modern, cozy inside. No reservations and early season, we had no problem snagging a table for 2. However, a friend recently shared they were told a 45 minute wait the other day. Prices and portions are reasonable to that of the Brotherhood and the Trap, and well executed. The fish tacos were delicious and my son's burger was basic but delicious. Heads up, while no kids menu, they did say they had a secret one - I'm imagining coming from so many families popping in. The burger as was $18 and a double patty with no toppings and homemade chips. The chowder was also really good with I believe some pork in there. It's been a minute, so I'm a little rusty. Service was great and kind. I didn't order any cocktails, but they did look small for the price - they may be bottled? I could be lying there. I saw a many a fried seafood and fries platter go by and they looked so good and fresh and crispy, in the best way possible. Overall, five star addition! I'm sure the lines have begun, but it's worthy of a wait, especially over at the Gazebo, so perfectly convenient. This is the original Yankee Pier. If you ever visited that restaurant in Larkspur, CA, this must have been the inspiration. Simple and delicious food. Casual, not fancy and great for kids. Tables tight on the water. Gluten free friendly, if that is of interest to you. stuck to the seafood. Lobster roll, fried clams and fish tacos. Btw, the fried clams are FULL BELLY, the entire clam, not just the muscle "clam strips" you used to find at places like Howard Johnson's. We came as a party of two on a summer Friday afternoon around 3:30pm and the wait was about 5 minutes. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and are connected to a little market/store. The lobster rolls were amazing! Our waiter (idk his name, super tall brunette guy) was super accommodating and removed got the kitchen to remove the bacon out of the clam chowder for us! The scallop roll and clams were phenominal!!! Our server, Julie, turned things around for us after we were treated unfairly. The manager, Colin's treatment was unacceptable. When my friend ordered a limoncello spritz, he brought a margarita instead. When she corrected him, he rudely said, "No you didn't," and walked away. She was also the only Black woman in the restaurant, and the only one treated this way. As locals in the industry, we were really disappointed by the manager's dismissive and disrespectful behavior. The cold lobster roll was just ok, for $44 dollars I expected more lobster and better sides instead of chips I've had way better. The full belly fried clams were good. Order was taken and didn't see her again until we waved her down to order something else. I wish we had the male waiter that served the table next to us. She could learn some things from him. Stumbled upon SWF towards the end of their very first week, when they weren't even officially doing takeout just yet. We were just walking by looking for a lobster roll and walked in to see a fish market! The lovely staff made an exception for us and we were so grateful. Not a seafood item but wow those onion rings were out of this world!! We got them with the lobster roll and wish we got the full side (for a bigger portion) instead. Totally recommend. Truly the best burger on island. Mouth watering. The fried clams were perfect, crispy and juicy! Clam chowder was delicious and caviar on onion rings? Need I say more? The staff was wonderful and kind, and the vibe is even better! The decor was beautiful. We had dinner on the deck which was a delight the chairs were comfortable and the view can't be beat. New place with outdoor seating right on the harbor. Overpoweringly noisy inside the building...brick floor and wood walls/ceiling make for poor acoustics. Probably quieter on the covered deck. Clam rolls were as good as expected for $32/each, though the accompanying cole slaw was grossly oversalted. Worst news: about 6 cocktails are offered but all are "pre-batched" since there is no bar. Decent beer and wine selection. Clean bathrooms featuring the infernal hand dryers. NO reservations. read more

Amazing. GO! We were excited to try SWF having loved SW for decades. From the outstanding "clam shack" menu to service and atmosphere-it's quintessential Nantucket! We were given a warm welcome upon entering; there is a fish shop, grab & go and seated restaurant. We were ushered to the hostess and they accommodated us with a waterfront table on the wharf. Cozy night on the water with the fog horns in the distance. We had clam chowder, blue fish pate, caviar onion rings, fried clams, calamari &fish sandwich-all outstanding. Paired with a reasonable & great bottle of wine. Wanting a clam shack? Go. Want to dress up? Go! Great cocktail? Go! Wear a hoodie? go! It reminds me of old Nantucket-under stated, cool, not fussy. I think this place can improve and hopefully it does- my lobster roll was drowned out by the shallots and brown butter - turned the lobster brown - the clams were big and chewy - not smaller and sweet - I asked for a side of fries as menu said it came with chips - the roll came with fries on the plate and a separate basket of fries - I feel the server should have said it came with fries....
