I just got new insurance and this dentist was on a list provided to me by my Health Insurance company. When I called the receptionist was extremely rude. She asked me what insurance I had and when I told her she said "we do not accept that insurance and we never have" and then she hung up on me. I called back and said "I think we got disconnected" and she laughed and told me she "thought I hung up on her" (yea right she clearly did not expect me to call back) Once I clarified I have a PPO she put me on hold to check with her manager but I decided to not proceed with booking any appts here at this office. So unprofessional and honestly it's just plain mean to treat people like that for no reason. read more

I'm not sure where all the bad reviews are coming from to be quite honest so I hope this is very helpful for somebody to read I was living in the Roseville area about 7 years ago and I moved back home to a different area that I love very much but I miss my dentist! Yes I miss Dr. Barakat very much and the quality of work that he did on my mouth it was exceptional. He has so much knowledge that he tries to pass onto his clients and He does care a lot about how we take care of our teeth too. He works very hard and so does Lana they have families to take care of but they put a lot of energy into the business I really miss seeing them and if I could get a ride Rocklin I will go see them and get my mouth fixed because I still have not found a dentist to replace him bottom line. Absolutely awful. I remember him being friendly when I had private insurance, but now that i'm in school with Medi-Cal insurance, he barely spoke to me. I asked about my gums possibly receding and he said, "I'm not sure from seeing you." Rude receptionist and the two of them got into an argument in front of me, very unprofessional. Finally, he told me to check in with the receptionist at the end and she mean mugged me and said I didn't need to talk to her. He must have been in a bad mood, he was literally out of there in his sports car before I was excused from the dental chair. Also, they will charge you $25 for a copy of the paper records sent to another dentist, and an additional $25 per X-Ray, of which there will be several even for an exam. I joked if the Dentist himself is printing these out and stuffing envelopes and she said Yes. Sounds like an expensive clerk. read more

I have had Dr. Barakat as my dentist since 1998 and I was in the 6th grade. I did not take care of my teeth as a kid and I needed 2 root canals along with some fillings. I remember being so scared of having dental work done but he really made me feel comfortable. He made sure I couldn't feel the work being done. I even brought in a portably CD player (old times) to drowned out some of the drilling noises. I am so thankful for him and his staff's care. I was just in his office yesterday for a cleaning and it's still amazing. I even had to bring my daughter who's almost two to the appointment since I didn't have a babysitter and I didn't want to reschedule because I love getting my teeth cleaned by him and they were very nice to her and I. Today was first appt and I have medi-cal , denti-cal and I was pleased with my experience here. The assistant woman was really nice. I definitely didn't feel like she felt a certain way about denti-cal patients. It was a couple weeks from the time I called before I was seen for a cleaning, and having medi-cal that's what I had anticipated. As soon as she found out I have Denti-Cal she immediately had nothing for a couple months. AKA, go away. Apparently all the offices that take Denti-Cal are shady. One of the most economical dentists around, and he takes MediCal. His office isn't fancy, but he doesn't hurt me or my kids, at all. We've had a root canal, several fillings and enumerable cleanings. Each experience has been the same: good solid dental work, no frills, no upselling. This practice is not a good choice for young children who need to be entertained, but if your child is old enough to sit still and open wide, it all works out well. read more

T My aunt, mother, and father, all had dental work done by Barakat. I saw him as a child and he was amazing. Always kind and calmed me down. When my wisdom teeth came in (problematic to say the least) I chose to pay cash to have him deal with the very complicated impaction, which many dentists had turned me away for over 5 years. He not only did a great job, but charged a great price!!! As for the negative review I see on here, I just want to say it is regarding a Russian lady, she can be offputting by her hasty demeanor... but she has some kind of anxiety problem. Fell Asleep During a Root Canal. Fell ASLEEP - ASLEEP !! I am typically white knuckled when I go to the dentist. What a calming atmosphere - receptionist and doctor are both knowledgeable and friendly. They both made you feel comfortable no matter what the condition of your teeth were. More importantly, the fact that they share a lot of their information with you, you leave feeling very motivated to take care of your teeth. The facility is also very clean. I do not recommend this Dentist for a few reasons. The front desk lady was rude. She barely said hi, just looked at me and said "insurance???" And I told her what insurance I have and she rudely said "the card!" And I said "oh, you want my insurance card?" And she rolled her eyes and said "yes!" Come on lady, I am coming into your establishment for the first time, if you need something, you have to let me know! That was annoying. But also when she tried to put the paper things in my sons mouth she was very forceful and he started to cry. Then she gave up and asked the dentist to come in. This was frustrating because this office does not recognize that kids are nervous about going to the dentist and they had no sensitivity. The dentist came in and glanced at his teeth and said he has two cavities and sent him to another dentist for no reason. But clearly because they didn't want to deal with him. They should have at least done a cleaning so it wasn't a total waste of time. My son doesn't have cavities, he just ate a snack and had stuff in his teeth. I know I was supposed to brush his teeth before hand but I figured he would be getting a cleaning BEFORE the dentist assessed his teeth. I have been going to Dr. Robert Barakat for a couple of years now and I have always appreciated his professional work as my dentist. I have always been very scared to go to the dentist but since I met Dr. Barakat I will not go anywhere else. He makes you feel very comfortable before he does any procedure at all and he never pressures you into any dental work that your not comfortable with. He only does what you feel comfortable in doing. I don't feel anxiety at all when I do have an appointment with him. I don't experience the pain on dental work as I have with other dentists in the past. I would highly recommend Dr. Barakat for children as well as for adults because he is the best as far as I'm concerned. I went to Dr. Barakat over 8 years ago and the experience was amazing. He and Lana handled my insurance with no problems! (which is very hard to find in my experience) He was very gentle in extracting an embedded wisdom tooth that was giving me severe problems/pain. He did my kids cleanings and they loved him. We moved out of the area and my family has tried several Dentists since. We are going back to him running. I will commute for the amazing service and the fact they don't try rip us off. I just got off the phone with whoever answers their phones, no idea who because she didn't say her name. I informed her I needed to make an appointment. She asked for my insurance number I told her I have dental through medi cal and she said number. So I started giving her my number. Then she started yelling at me telling me she didn't need my number. I said fine, then she told me the soonest date was November 12th, it's September 30th. I told her no and that she was rude. Hands down the best dentist I've been to in years!!!! The woman at the front desk is more than accommodating. She runs the entire front office. If the phone isn't answered immediately it's because they are with a patient and they always promptly call back! Dr. Barakat is kind, patient and extremely gentle. Im not the biggest fan of going to the dentist but Dr Barakat and Lana made the experience much more bearable than I thought the process of getting a root canal would be. Lana was amazing at making sure I was in the know about what my insurance covered and what my out of pocket would be. Dr Barakat was AMAZING at being conscious of whether I was in pain and continuing to ask and make sure I wasn't. Very considerate (and funny!) people! :) I won't say I 'look forward' to going back to the dentist but I will say I definitely won't consider it a horror show if I continue to get work done with them! read more

My teeth are a nightmare...saw a ton of different dentist as a kid...always had bad teeth.. even had to get upper dentures in 2003. When I got pregnant with my youngest my lowers went to heck. My husband and his family have been friends with DDS Barakat for years... and let me say if I had him as my dentist growing up I would not have had all the problems I have. He is AMAZING! He doesn't let the Novocaine wear off before he does the work (I have had some that did).... he is friendly, patient and upfront with you. My oldest is 15 and special needs he is great with her! and my youngest is 5 and she thinks he's the greatest. HIGHLY suggest him! and we have Medi-cal!..which there are NO issues with... I've been to a few janky dentists but this was definitely the worst teeth cleaning I've ever had. The dentist performs the cleaning rather than a dental hygienist. This dentist rushed me in and out in about fifteen minutes. He had absolutely no finesse. I'm fairly certain he didn't know what he was doing or he didn't care. When I left my teeth were hardly cleaner and my gums were bleeding. I can say without a doubt I will never go back there. read more
