I am VERY impressed with Dr. Schulz. A previous gynocologist had told me my abnormal pap was not yet precancerous and to come back in a year. Fortunately, I switched to Dr. Schulz a year later (because she takes medicare which previous doc did not). Dr. Schulz immediately told me the previous results were indeed precancerous and I should have come back sooner. After performing more tests, she also told me that I may need a hysterectomy due to where my organs were positioned. Talk about shock! She professionally explained details to me and called a surgeon herself who fit me in that day for a second opinion. The surgeon confirmed the need for a hysterectomy and told me I was lucky I found Dr. Schulz. Happy to report I am recovering from a robotic hysterectomy, precancerous cells are gone, and I will be doing my annual followups with Dr. Schulz. Highly recommended! read more

I, too, find the negative reviews perplexing. I have been a patient for one year, having been referred by my primary care doc after some scary tests. Dr. Schulz saw me on short notice, was comforting without being disingenuous about what I was potentially facing, and made absolutely sure that I got all of my questions (and my husband's questions) answered. Dr. Schultz's group has an ultrasound on site, and the doc reads the exam results immediately -- so there is no waiting! After several visits and various tests, we agreed to do some exploratory laproscopic surgery. She was very careful to explain the risks and to set reasonable expectations for the recovery period. The procedure itself went exceptionally well, and I started to feel better almost immediately. The doctor called and spoke with my husband several times in the first few days to be sure I was doing OK. Dr. Schult's "bedside" manner may be a bit direct for some people's taste, but I found her to be caring and compassionate, and even a little funny. I have never experienced longer delays in the waiting room than I am generally used to at other medical offices. And the one time that I waited in an exam room, it was clear that Dr. Schultz had taken a phone call from a patient in a bit of a panic. (I could hear part of the doctor's side of the conversation.) I have and will continue to recommend Dr. Schultz to friends and acquaintances in the South Bay. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Schultz many years ago and she was a God send. I went to her for a second opinion because I wasn't getting my period and the male OB GYN wanted to give me a hysterectomy. I was only 31 with one child and recently married. Dr. Schultz promised me that unless I had a life threatening problem she would not take my uterus. It turned out that I had a cyst on my right ovary. She had to take the ovary and only the ovary. Eight weeks later I was pregnant with twins. One died in early on, but 9 months later I delivered a beautiful baby boy via C-section. She was caring, treated me like I had a brain in my head and was there through everything. She is a great gynocologist. If not for her, I wouldn't have the two babies I had after my ovary was removed. I recommend her to anyone woman in need of an ob gyn. She is an excellent doctor. My kids are now 23 and 21 years old and they are doing fine. If I had listened to the first doctor, they would have never been born. I no longer live in So. California. I have been going to this facility for 16+ years and have not had any issues. I've been through pregnancy, miscarriage, ovarian cysts, etc etc with ZERO problems. Dr Schulz and Dr Sanders are caring and competent doctors. I suggest people remember that this who have had an issue tend to post, but good experiences are omitted. read more

I was a patient of Medical Group of Women physicians, Dr. Schulz is a no nonsense physician! Excellent diagnostician, has a no nonsense manner and quickly had determined that I needed to be referred to a Urologist for my condition. I had been to four other GYN'S that did not think I had a "problem" (I had been in pain for almost a year) I am so delighted that I found a physician that listened and knew how to assess my problem and set me on the path of recovery! She is a horrible unprofessional Dr. And the other Doctor in her office call Dr. Soha Alghareb I think, she is worse than her. Nice combo!!!!!!!! I had a terrible delivery with this office and please don't go there!! She is money hungry and if you go for visit and ask more than one problem then she will ask you to go back and visit her another time fir th either problem!! She did that to me a few times and I had to make another appointment for the other problem that I had, just because she could charge my insurance 2 times and took 2 copayments!! Shultz is nasty person and just think about money!! Don't recommend her at all. I wish I could give her -10!!!!!!! My delivery was the worse experience in my life and my baby had lots of problem later after birth because of the horrible delivery I went through!! This office is full of amazing women. From the time you make your appointment, check in, to the time you see your physician. Many of them have been there for years and really know the system of the office. This helps with any questions you may have as well as making sure you're not waiting forever due to confusion. I've seen two doctors here, Dr. Schulz (for a breast exam after a lump scare) and Dr. Allen who is no longer there but also wonderful. When I had my lump scare, I was 23 years old and terrified. Dr. Schulz put my mind at ease after my exam and talked my family and I about her findings. She was kind, thorough and truly made a difference in the way I view going to the OB/GYN! read more

Simply put, Dr. Schulz is amazing! I struggled with previous physicians who disregarded my concerns about my abnormally distended abdomen. I grew weary of never having my questions answered, so I did my research and discovered Dr. Schulz--which is the best thing that has happened to my health. She is simultaneously thorough, professional, and compassionate. It turns out I had a ridiculously large tumor in my abdominal area. With her help, I was able to get in touch with an outstanding gynecological oncologist who safely removed the tumor. Dr. Schulz assisted in the procedure and she even went out of her way to visit me during my hospital stay. Dr. Schulz is exceptional at what she does and her passion speaks volumes. Dr. Schulz is the perfect doctor to have in your corner. After having a questionable mammogram and then biopsy. The radiologist told me to come back for a re-check in 6 months so they can watch it, which I was happy to oblige because I didn't want to think about it. Dr. Schulz called me and convinced me to see a surgeon for a second opinion to put our minds at ease, easier said than done but felt she was right. Well, after seeing the surgeon and then continuing on to have a lumpectomy well lets just say Dr. Schulz saved my life. This is the Doctor you want in your corner who cares about you. Everything was caught early taken out and now I don't have to worry about anything and can enjoy my life with my family. I delivered my first baby with dr. Schulz and dr. Salem in 2007. The experience still haunts me to this day and brings back unpleasant memories and anger. I was told that I will be induced at precisely 40 weeks. I cannot be allowed to wait one extra day as that is the policy that they follow. If I want to wait, I would need to sign something that says I'm going against their recommendation and if something happens to the baby then they are not responsible. That was enough to scare a first time mom. I agreed. I was put on a pitocin drip for six plus hours. I endured painful unnatural contractions to no avail. My body was not ready for labor. I did not dilate at all. The baby was put under stress for so long that her heart rate dropped and the whole episode ended up in a c section. I had a horrible recovery and so did my baby. I did some research for my second pregnancy and realized it's normal for many healthy pregnancies to go past 40 weeks. I asked them for a vbac the second time around . They made fun of me saying that it's only offered at teaching hospitals with incompetent interns. I immediately changed my doctor after that. I've had two successful vbacs now and both deliveries were smooth and satisfying. I did go into labor without any induction or intervention at around 41 weeks plus 3 or 4 days. I wish I did not choose this practice the first time around. read more

I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The office (Manhattan Beach) is very nice, parking is easy and waiting time is very short. Terrible, terrible person and very unprofessional. I absolutely agree with the bad reviews. I don't usually write reviewes because I am very easy going, don't really expect much to begin with because don't have any health issues. I moved to the South bay from the SF bay area and just went to the office for a routine pap exam. First of all, it hurt when she took the sample. She was apparently in a hurry. When I went to receive the results, the results came back abnormal which was a surprise to me and I was sure they were wrong. Dr Schulz was screaming in front of all her office staff that I had to get another test because I had a STD. I was sure I did not (for personal reasons that I don't need to mention here). That was very insulting and the doctor seemed like a raving lunatic to me the way she handled this. If I had some disease, that would be something very personal that I would expect would have to be disucssed with someone in private. Of course I took the test again and it came back completely normal no STD or anything else. I never went back to her. It's been many years but I still remember her name and it only brings out negative feelings. I would not recommend her to anyone. read more

I have been going to Dr Schultz for 15 + years I was delighted and still am very happy w/ her patient care. She is thorough, open and honest. She quickly diagnosed and treated me for a serious condition. She doesn't have that cutey prissy demeanor by any means. So if you are 'NEEDY' and need that type of MD and patient interaction you might look for a more 'warm & fuzzy' type. I'm not willing to risk my health for that, nor do I want that type of MD. I agree 100%. I saw Dr. Schulz for the first time last year and will not be returning. I happened to look down at the chart she brought in with her, and it wasn't mine. She never left the room to get the proper chart after being told that wasn't me. The entire exam lasted approximately 5 minutes and none of my concerns were covered, she was hurried and could not have cared less. I have never felt more uncomfortable and uneasy with a GYN before. She even had to call me back for a repap as she failed to get enough cells the first time. While I know that is somewhat common, it was the icing on the cake. Office staff was somewhat pushy. One nurse argued with me about being pregnant (I was not, and yes, I know the symptoms) and insisted I pee in a cup. This was after I asked her where the bathroom was and had already went. I have been a patient with Dr Barbra Schulz for over 20 years and have always been well taken care of. Her staff have always been friendly and professional. Last Sept 2014 during my annual well woman exam, Dr Schulz found a very small lump in my breast. When I got home, I still couldn't feel the lump when I examined that area. Thanks to her, my breast cancer was found at the earliest stages and immediate protocol was put into action with mammogram, biopsies, BRAC analysis, and her referring list of Oncology Drs. I have been a patient of Dr. Schulz for 20+ years. She deliverd my 2nd daughter 24 yrs ago and has seen me through a total hysterectomy. I did not want the hysterectomy, and fought it for a while, but Dr. Schulz explained my options (many times) and in a matter of fact, straight forward manner. I did not have cancer but every other gyno problem and long term bleeding that I choose to ignore, chalking it up to change of life. While some may critique that Dr Shulz's practice is lacking some warm and fuzzies, I wanted and appreciated a VERY competent Doctor and surgeon - not a best-friend - to help guide me through this situation. I believe that Dr Shulz's interest in my care has been genuine and very focused about my total gyno health. It has been a year since the hyst and I do believe that she saved my life, and has also caught and coached me on my aging bones. I will also add that she runs a tight and professional ship and her staff is very efficient and effective. On a side note, in todays challenging financial times for doctors (our goverenment and the health insurance industry is screwing the people that we trust with our lives) I was shocked to do the math and see what Dr Shulz ended up netting after my insurance made their massive adjustments to her billing. Sadly, I think my auto mechanic makes more money than our medical doctors in todays world. read more

I was so conflicted about whether to begin seeing this doc due to Yelp. Well, not seeing this doctor anymore. I realize she may be brilliant and have a great take charge attitude at the hosiptal ordering staff around while you deliver, but during the other 99% of your life I better have a doc that can spend a few minutes explaining something to me if an abnormality was found on an ultrasound. Not just come back for another ultrasound and a possible biopsy in a few weeks. Well, why? Is there something I should be concerned about. Is this normal? I ask questions but it's all a grey area. Will this effect the ability to get pregnant? "Not neccessarily". Uhh ok. That's all you got for me? I have been terrified and sad since finding out. I spent one visit in the room and a couple of phone chats with her and true to the reviews she remains pretty stoic and can hardly smile when I tried to relieve my topics with a little bit of humor. A patient-doctor relationship on a personal level is just as important to me as their medical expertise. Especially if I am about to embark on the journey of pregnancy, and now maybe infertility. Patients that had babies in the 80's seem loyal to her. Maybe she was different back then. I liked the woman who handled scheduling, she was always nice.
