Making an appointment was very simple.It is a small open salon inside another salon. My lash tech Gina as very nice and gentle. I really wanted to loVe this place but the quality was just not there. The same night I got my new set of 90 pc lashes , I had lashes falling out. I got them done the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and called the next day to make an appointment to come in and have them fixed. Due to the holiday the first day I could come I was Friday , I made the open for during my lunch hour. During the next two days my lashes were falling out everywhere. I came in after purchasing a Groupon and I have to say I am very impressed. The consult with the girl who did my lashes was very basic. They do 3 Lash styles, various lengths and either a C or J curl Lash. It was straight forward I even purchased more lashes aside from what I paid for the Groupon. I decided to do a C curl and she took a little over an hour. For me she was gentle the whole time even fell asleep. The lashes itself look great I was very happy and left satisfied. It's normal to have fall out especially a few after you get them done but it shouldn't be excessive. In the few days after I got them I had like 4 fall out but the lashes still look amazing. It's completely fine- I've been here a few times with coupons, and it seems mostly consistent and long-lasting. Only once, two people did my eyes (luckily one per eye), so it was obvious it was the second person's technique which made the second eye fall apart so quickly. I went back and they apologized profusely and fixed it. Also, now that I'm not brand new with this, I realize that you have to ask/research/practice how to keep your lashes in great condition to stay! If you're using oil-based cosmetics/lotions or take long steamy showers, clearly they will fall out quickly. They're also prompt and take about exactly an hour, which I really appreciate. I had gone there once or twice and my sister too had been there few times because it was closer to where we lived and also those were the times when we didn't know much about lash extensions. They were okay and also if we paid for 80 lashes per eye but it barley even seemed like 40 lashes per eye. Bought a Groupon and just felt like pampering myself that day. Called in the afternoon to see if they would be able to take me later that day after work and they did! I arrived about half an hour early to the appointment and they saw me about 20 minutes later which was fine because I was the one that was really anyways. They weren't super busy but all the beds (4 of them) were being used. The receptionist asked me whether I had gotten my lashes done before and whether I knew what I wanted. Although I had, the styles and curl types vary from place to place so she gave me a quick rundown. When my service began, the technician was super friendly. Unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she was very nice and kept complimenting me about how cute I looked and told me my natural lashes were very healthy. She also helped me clean up some leftover glue that had remained from my last lash salon(from 2 months ago), the false lash fell out but the glue remained on my natural lash. I honestly didn't even notice there was still glue left if she didn't point it out. But she wanted to make sure my lashes lasted as long as possible so that was really nice of her. The Groupon was 70 lashes per eye and the whole process took about 45 minutes. She was gentle enough I almost fell asleep. They lose a star because the salon is basically an open space separated by really short partitions and everyone was talking at full volume with each other. Also, when my service was over and I went to pay, the receptionist was gone and there was a guy there instead. He wasn't very friendly and I didn't get a spoolie, care instructions, or card for touchups that most places give. Guess I won't be coming back for touchups then. I came to Barbi before a wedding after purchasing a deal thru Groupon. Barbi has lasted the longest of the few eyelash extension places I've tried. The look of the actual lashes are very natural and nice. I don't like how when they come off the glue moves up on the lash and sometimes makes the lash itself very apparently bent in the wrong direction. However, after a month a lot are still intact. The experience itself from a customer standpoint wasn't amazing. The "bed" where I was lying on to get the extensions was pretty uncomfortable, and there were either ceiling or floor fans that felt like they were blowing into my eye as I was getting the extensions done. The fluorescent lights were also pretty bright while most places do a good job of covering the brightness with a cloth or towel. The lady who did my lashes was talking/fighting with her husband for nearly 30 minutes while she was doing my extensions and I felt really uncomfortable because it felt like she was talking to me but at the same time I didn't want to interrupt her in the middle of the fight. I found this strange and urge the business to ask their employees to not be on such personal phone calls while attending to their customers. She was very close to my face as she obviously needed to work on my eyes, but it made the overall experience despite the length the eyelashes stayed on not super enjoyable. read more

If you have sparse or thin eyelashes do not get this done. It is not a noticeable difference at all, my eyelashes look fuller when I simply put one coat of mascara on. I wish they had told me that the procedure would barely be noticeable before I spent my money. By the time I got home (a 10 minute walk) two had fallen out. I went here twice because a friend recommended this place. The staff was really nice even though my friends and I were a little late. The first time I asked for C curl and size 10-11-12 (cat eye style). I recommend getting C curl instead of J curl but J curl is not really noticeable at all. Overall, I liked it but it didn't really last that long. It started coming off about a week in only. I went here again since the price was so cheap. Not happy with this place. I got a lifebooker deal for $45 for their Barbie girl set. This place is on the second floor and at the back of a hair salon, which confused me because when I got to the second floor I saw only the sign for the hair salon. Well that's the place. I was greeted by Tania who was also my lash tech. I told her I usually get the c-curl in a length between 10 and 12 but I wanted to try out the j-curl (straighter lash). She said my lashes were comparable to a size 8, so she wanted to put size 9 lashes on me to have them look natural. Well, I told her I wanted longer lashes and I was used to 10-12 . She said she would use the 10's then. If you're sensitive to fragrance or smells, this may not be the place for you. Being that it's in a hair salon, the scent of chemical processing and burned hair permeates the air. Plus Tania, instead of washing her hands before starting my service, used a heavily scented antibacterial hand cream? Pet peeve of mine. When there is a bathroom mere steps away, you do not use antibacterial hand products. You should use soap and water. The process was as expected, except that she used quite a bit of tape for my bottom lashes, which when removed was actually painful. Not at all cool for our delicate under eye skin. Bad, bad bad!!! Oh, and my eyes were glued shut! And how does one unstick a glued eye? With little scissors apparently. Terrifying to say the least. I'm used to JJ eyelash. So, I'm used to the complimentary hand and/or foot massage. Not here, but that would be OK if the results were good. Not so. My eyelashes look natural alright. They look just like mine! I really see not much difference and it was really disappointing. Afterwards, I asked Tania for change for the tip. She locates my lifebooker printout, and using a pen as her laser pointer reads the recommended tipping policy to me. Twice. That really irritated the shite outta me. I know to tip on the full amount without reading it, and I didn't need it pointed out to me like I'm a child! To top it all off, I'm losing lashes every day. I'm very gentle with my eyes. I've been getting extensions for months now with JJ, and have never had this issue. The same day I got home I looked in the mirror and found a lash on my cheek. Waking up the next day, there were 2 more. This is daily. On my pillow, my eyelids, my work desk! This is not supposed to happen. Just today, I've lost about 5 that I've seen. Not normal. Just the extensions are coming off, to be clear, my lashes are OK. I'm not happy. Why not 1 star? The girl who did my lashes rolled her eyes when I asked her to repeat something because I didn't quite understand her. And then proceeded to try to sell a more expensive lash package to me but this time, with a smile. Uh, no. She kept poking my eye and when I flinched, she told me to stay still. Uhhhhh...it's called involuntary muscle movement...it happens when you get poked in the eye uncomfortably SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW. Let me poke you in the eye and let's see how well you do. Oh and after all of this, the girl had the nerve to once again roll her eyes when I tipped her. And so I thought to myself, "this bi*ch is crazy.." I had tipped 18% which is average for service I wasn't completely satisfied with. Yep, won't be coming back here. I understand $90 for eyelash extensions might be a steal but bad customer service leaves me unsettled and I won't be going back. I already bought 2 Lifebooker vouchers for Barbi Eyelashes which weren't cheap, why would I spend more $$$ so I could be further ignored and mistreated by the Barbi staff? The very unhelpful and distracted receptionist said to deal with Lifebooker regarding any refund. They need a crash course in customer service especially in the highly competitive spa/ beauty industry. I probably should have written this review a week ago when I first went but since my lashes still look AWESOME 10 days later I guess that's all the better. I echo other reviewer's praise of Emily, she did my lashes as well and was GREAT! I've had my lashed done several times before both in D.C. and Texas and this was by far the best experience. I like that they use a bed (sort of like a massage table) and encourage you to take a nap. Waaaaaay less stressful than sitting in a stylists chair and watching someone point tweezers at your eyeballs repeatedly :-) The price is great $90 for 70 lashes per eye $110 for 120 lashes. They encourage touch-ups every two weeks but I'm pretty sure I could last 3weeks considering that I didn't lose any lashes until day eight. I've gotten compliments from several friends/family members and the style of lash is very natural (though they do have other styles which are a bit more "costume-y".) In any event I strongly encourage a visit to Barbi Eyelashes, their service is excellent (would have given 5 stars except for the noisy construction outside and the placement of the eyelash table right in front of a really bright window). Mind you, I wasn't blessed w/ long or many lashes but after spending an hour and a half here I walked away with full, very natural looking lashes. Surprisingly they lasted a long time (abt 3 weeks) and the horror stories of glue or missing lashes, nada. The procedure itself is painless and as easy as laying down and going to sleep which i've done before. The place was friendly and asked me what kind of style and length I would want. After that, everything went downhill. The process was a nightmare! They used scotch tape on my under eye that when they pulled it off at the end, they were pretty much pulling my skin off (wrinkles alerts!) As she was putting the lashes on, she kept poking my eye and caused me to tear. When she was finally done, my eyes were bothering me. Also some of the lashes are in awkward positions that I had to cut them off. If I could, I would yank these extension off! They are not as flattering as the way JJ Eyelashes does my lashes. Oh btw, this place is kind of hard to find. The entrance is on 32nd street and you have to walk through a salon to get to the lashes section. Go to JJ.... I was an eyelash extension virgin before I finally caved and bought a Groupon/Lifebooker deal for $45 at Barbi Eyelashes. Cheapest I've seen so why the hell not? I got C curls in 10, 11, 12. They looked pretty good, I have to say, just not as full as I'd have thought them to be. The reason that I am only giving this place two stars is that by the end of the second week, ALL OF THE LASHES had fallen out. Not a single one left. Actually, by the end of the first week, more than half of the lashes were kaput. And I didn't do anything crazy like go swimming or air-gliding. Good thing I only paid $45 (still tipped $20). The ladies were friendly and service was nothing to complain about. The one thing that bothered me, in retrospect, is that when the lady doing my lashes finished and she peeled off those under-eye stickers, IT HURT LIKE HELL. It hurt almost as bad as when I had my braces snapped off when I was 13. I've recently gone to another eyelash place and they put some sort of lotion on before they put on dem stickers so that it doesn't hurt when they peel 'em off. Barbi should get on that same lotion train. If my eyelashes lasted a bit longer, I'd definitely recommend the place. Emily is amazing at eyelash extensions. I've had it done twice before at other places and it was bad bad bad. (Too long and fake, glued to my eyelid skin -- BAD). Emily is precise, great to discuss the length and style you want, and so sweet. She is very perceptive to your eye shape (e.g. my Asian eyes need smaller, more natural lashes than bigger eyes). And for $90 (with $45 touch ups), why NOT try it?? They even have a "frequent flyer" card where you get a free session after 10 times. read more

I had an appointment with 3 people - from 2pm-4pm and it took about an hour for each of us. A female and young male worked on the group. The female did a good job on my co workers lashes - but most of hers fell out by the next day! My other co worker and I both were worked on by the young man - he did a good job and was very patient through my ordeal - my first time getting this done and I was very uncomfortable - just wanted to open my eyes or move but I couldn't. Never knew staying still for an hour would be so tedious! He asked several times if I was okay and through my fiddling around he still did a nice job. I went with C curl 9, 10, 11. I've lost about 6 lashes so far but have been very careful with how I shower/take off my makeup etc. I honestly only see them lasting for a week. My other co worker has much the similar experience with her lashes, falling out here and there but she's being careful as well. I don't think I'll be back, can't even think about lying there again for an hour - I'll stick to just applying a full set of false lashes and invest in a high end glue. For the money [even with the coupon] its not worth it for me.
