My friend and I wanted to try a new wine bar before we had dinner and we found Barbieri & Kempe. It's located in the La Arcada Plaza alleyway adjacent to a gift shop called Lewis & Clark. The ambiance is so cute, they have nice seating indoors with a cheese room adjacent, as well as plenty of outdoor seating where furry friends are welcome. The server was so great and walked us through some of the Rose's they offered and let us sample a few before we decided on the 2023 Rose of Cabernet. The wine was great, we really enjoyed our bottle and relaxing out on the patio. I think they offer wine club membership, and if you want to eat, charcuterie plates but I am not completely sure as we were just planning on having one bottle of wine. Definitely recommend if you are looking for some good wine!

Barbieri & Kempe Wine Santa Barbara location will always and forever hold a special place in my heart. We found this location while waiting for our dinner. I fell in love with how perfectly it was located and designed. It took you to another world. The staff is always friendly and warm. We recently had our Wedding Reception here along with our Engagement photos. From the moment I reached out to Erin to have your reception until day of her communication was spot on. I couldn't have asked for a better day. The wine is amazing along with their cheese and meat selection. If you want a small intimate wedding reception or just want a nice glass of wine or two or bottle I would over and over and recommend Barbieri and Kempe Wines.

This winery is tucked away in the lovely La Arcada Plaza, and just a few steps away from the downtown area. They have outdoor seating and currently indoor seating as of 5.8.21. I've been here twice and also visited their winery in Los Olivos. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Paolo Barbieri at the Los Olivos location. He tended to our table with such a friendly and warm welcome. Thank you Paolo for your service and delicious wines! My favorite wine is the Kempe Cabernet Franc, which is by far the best I've had! I did have a favorite Cab Franc at another winery in town, but hands down the Kempe one beats it! I recently tried their Cab Franc Rosé. Who knew this existed! It is a dry rosé and light bodied. You can taste and smell the subtle notes and aromas of passion fruit, orange peels, and sour cherries. I definitely recommend this on a warm sunny day. They are now serving specialty cheeses, along with crackers and a unique variety of jams. I meant to get a picture but forgot. That means I must pay another visit soon lol. On the first Saturday of each month, local bands perform out in the courtyard beginning at 2pm. I believe it is twice a month for performances. Come sip some wine and relax outside while listening to some good music.

Beautiful tasting room located within La Arcada Courtyard. Great outdoor space during COVID, but their indoor space looked so nice!!! Super comfy furnitures, cool QR code scanner for their menus, and friendly staff. Shelly was able to customize the tasting menu, and guided through their selection of wines - I told Shelly I love whites, and Bordeaux varietals, and she shared whites, and Bordeaux varietal wines that they make. My favorites were Vermentino, and Illumina (equal parts of cab sauv/cab franc/merlot). But the cheese selection was out of this world. Probably the best cheese selection in Santa Barbara. Turfullo (truffle cheese), armadeous, and campozolo (sorry about these spelling) are just my favorites that they had. If you think you know cheese, their super knowledgeable staff will blow your mind with the awesome cheese selection they have here. We had such a fantastic time with Barbieri & Kempe's great wine, awesome cheeses, super-friendly staff, and super cool guests that made our evening so memorable. I can't wait to go back to Barbieri & Kempe in the La Aracada with my friends. If you are there, make sure to ask for Shelly - she is so knowledgable on wines, vineyards, cheese, and everything! I hope that next time, the indoor space will be open - because it is such a beautiful place!

Location is perfect for an intimate conversation with a tasty glass of wine. Chocolates and desserts available for pairing with the wines was a nice touch. We really liked the art on the alley with the wine shop. Again, great atmosphere.

The location screams Romance! Lovely place to have your intimate wedding reception. The staff were friendly and a happy bunch. If I could I would have my wedding reception here too.

Great wine selection here. The reds are the way to go! Rara was great, she really let us enjoy our wine here without the pretention. She enlightened us on local eateries and choices. We felt automatically comfortable. Rara is knowledgeable and makes your experience super fun! Thank you Rara!

Amazing experience today with RaRa. Wines sell themselves. Location is dreamy. I'm a local and it took be half a second to join wine club! Best experience today!

My husband and I absolutely loved our visit this weekend. We stubbled on the Santa Barbara location in the adorable courtyard, with fountains and beautiful flowers. But the main reason was Our service from RaRa , she immediately welcomed us from the moment we stepped into the shop. Very knowledgeable of the wine but not a pushy sales person. Love it . We bought a white and a rose bottle to bring home. We will absolutely be back. Side note. We sat outside, the music RaRa selected was spot on!! Totally added to the ambiance

    Great outdoor seating

This isn't about public shaming, hopefully it's clear this is about flagging to management that their staff requires more hands on training around food handling, product quality, tidiness and presentation. We ordered four sandwiches around 1:00pm mid week, nobody else was there and there were no tickets ahead of us--just two teenaged boys who looked seriously confused and undertrained and even openly joked about how slow things had been that day--which was an odd comment for a restaurant that looked like it hadn't been bussed yet after a lunch rush. It took both of them about 40 minutes to make four sandwiches in an extremely haphazard manner that inexplicably required them leaving to the back room a lot and returning empty handed--they both weren't familiar with the ingredients of the specialty sandwiches and they joked shoulder to shoulder as they both fumbled through completing the order. I was pretty shocked at how unkept the entire food prep station appeared and the counters and tables hadn't been bussed and were attracting large horseflies from outside --why weren't these guys bussing tables if it was so slow? Why was there A LOT of yellow mustard smeared across the low boy fridge doors? Where was the supervision? Why was it taking so long to make sandwiches that were on the menu with zero modifications? Why was the music so loud? Why was the kid who was just counting cash out of the tip jar, now handling food without washing his hands or wearing gloves? It was a barrage to the senses and a bizarre vignette into an ever-declining understanding of quality service and hospitality standards coupled with an ever-rising high cost of goods. When we got to the park down the street and opened the bag none of the sandwiches had been wrapped properly, no tape, no restrictive folds, just loose sheets of hand crumpled parchment paper, barely restraining the food inside with 360 degree wet condiments covering the OUTSIDE of every sandwich parcel--if you can even call them that. It was a disaster inside that bag. You couldn't reach your hand into the bag without it coming out covered in misc condiments. That same day I called the restaurant to ask if I could speak to the owner and share our observations, the person who answered said that person wasn't available. And before I could ask for an email, the kid hung up on me--but I can't blame him for that, he probably couldn't hear me over the insanely loud music playing on his side of the line.
