We attended a birthday party here yesterday. It was booked for 5pm, and after the fact, our host was called and informed that there would be another party being seated after us, at 7:30pm, so we would have to be out by then, but that we could arrive as early as 4:30pm to make up for it. We were a group of 20+ people including 6 children. We arrived around 4:45pm, and were told the area wasn't ready yet, and had to wait in the front as piles of people started arriving all at the same time, with very few people actually being seated. We were brought to the back of the restaurant and given 2 of the 3 tables in that section (even though our host was told we'd have a private dining area). They then crammed 11 people at an 8 person table next to us. It took 20 minutes for a server to even take drink orders. I am 95% sure our drinks did not have any alcohol in them. The children were served last. There were no straws, and the syrups in the cocktails all settled at the bottom. Then time to order meals. Shortly after we did, plates of food came out, but none of them were actually our food. Finally our food did arrive and there was a lot of confusion about what belonged to who, as they were saying ingredients that weren't meant to be included (serving my mother a Philly steak "with smoked meat" which wasn't ordered, but also didn't have smoked meat at all). They brought children the wrong pizzas, my steak, ordered medium, was over by quite a bit. My Monte Carlo potato, however, was excellent, and my Caesar salad tasted good but had far too much dressing. My neighbour's smoked meat had bread so stale you could play drums on the table with it and the meat was different colours as it had dried out. My brother ordered a crispy chicken poutine, was delivered a hamburger, that they claimed was a chicken burger. To their credit, they brought out the poutine very quickly, but still charged me for the chicken burger, which was $5 more than the poutine (according to my brother), but it wasn't worth the time it would have taken to try to get it fixed. Down the table from me, the wrong potatoes were delivered and had to be replaced. About halfway through the meal, we were told that there would not be another party, so we didn't have to rush out, but with service taking as long as it did at the beginning, it was already an anxious experience. At one point, after the guest of honour waited 45 minutes for a drink, but having no server in sight, as our section was cut off from the rest of the restaurant and no way to make eye contact with anyone to indicate we needed something, our host got up and went directly to the bar to order the drink. There was one bartender for a full restaurant who very firmly said she could not take orders from customers. Ok, no problem. The server then came over and scolded our host for speaking to the bartender. We were also informed by a food runner (of which there were at least 5) that our server had two full sections, and no one to help. We left at 7:40pm, generally dissatisfied. read more

Things, in my opinion, have gone downhill at this restaurant. Sad. Recently had 2 for $35 special that was not up to par. I had hamburger steak with French fries & Cole slaw. The burger patties were the smallest I've ever had and the coleslaw was tasteless. My partner had the fish dinner and the fish was too moist and not cooked properly. With a draft beer and a glass of wine our bill with tip was $100. We won't be back soon read more

A staple of my home town. I used to come here as a kid and chow down on juicy burgers and crispy chicken fingers. Now as an adult, it's chicken brochette with a cold beer. A lot of the staff had been there since the beginning so it's nice to see familiar faces. Always quick service and courteous staff. Enjoy the complementary popcorn while you wait for your meal. You also get free refills on soft drinks. Prices are very competitive so this place is a must try if you're in the area. read more

Barbies was a nice experience. Had lunch for the first time at Barbies and it went well. Nothing special very ordinary restaurant decor was used and old. Definitely needs a redo in decor and the food was ok , I had an onion soup and smoke meat that was new on the menu. This is my family and I's go-to place. Every time we're arguing about where to eat, we know that the argument will end up in us choosing Barbie's and everyone being happy about it. The amazing thing about this place is that they have their 1/2 off coupons. If you're a big family and want everyone to eat a good plate, this will save you a lot of coins! They also have 2 for 25$ and 2 for 30$ options which are also very convenient. We used to go there all the time until I stopped eating meat. The only options they have for vegetarians is their veggie burgers (the pattie isn't really good) and the salads. Also, I would advise you to call and make a reservation before showing up, especially on a Saturday or Sunday night, it gets extremely full quick! Let me tell you though, every plate on the menu that I've tried before (except for the veggie burger) is delicious. If you're into Mexican, try the Mexicali star. If you're into greek try the chicken brochette à la grecque. If you want a burger, try the British burger. The ribs are to die for and the desserts are exquisite. The portions sizes are HUGE, you will be full and also may not be able to finish your plate. Finally, the service is great. We went there for a family dinner one evening during the week. The good: Barbie's has a good burger. Waitress was friendly. Food was nice and hot. Place was clean. Usually you can use a 2 for $22 coupon. The bad: l never get why they bring people to the bar sections when there are places in the dining room. Some tables were dirty for a while. Some plates arrived late. Barbie's is never my first choice for a good burger, but it is a nice alternative. read more

Your typical family joint- this one is a popular spot in the shore. They're know for their mailed out coupons and 2 for 1 deals that make the meals here worth more than your bang for the buck. Easy access on Taschereau by bus of car with plenty of parking. There is a lot of seating indoor, outdoor and for private events- reception room in the back that can be rented out for large parties. Reservations for 5 or under usually not required even on weekends. You get complimentary popcorn before your meal. Just a side note: the meals are actually very large - can easily be shared amongst 2. We ordered (rating out of 5 *): garlic butter butterfly shrimp plate *** (10 pieces of shrimp and a chicken broth rice); teriyaki chicken filet plate****(note- this usually comes with a honey mustard sauce- I replaced it, sides - a creamy whipped Monte Carlo potato****highly recommend, rice and Caesar salad): grilled chicken garden salad***(good portion of chicken and salad but kind of dry); VEGAN options -my sister and her bf opted for a vegetarian mushroom burger with fries ***, a vegan pizza which is nothing but dough and roasted veggies - but considering this is a deli grill - both were happy campers. Dessert: 2 for 1 on cake on Sundays - cheese cake**** was moist and so good but I had no space! All this for 72$ for 6 ppl without tip. Can't get better for a family deal!! read more

This is actually one of my favorite restaurants. I've been coming at this specific Barbies for almost a decade, it's always been a family tradition for special events. I absolutely love that they keep sending coupons in the mail which make for a very affordable meal. Coupons are "buy 1 meal, get the other free if it's 11$ or less, you pay the extra. My favorite dish is the filet of sole which comes with an amazing cesar salad, rice, and monte carlo which is the best you'll ever have. Portions are huge! People always bring doggy bags home. Although they've made many changes to their restaurant, in terms of decor and prices over the years, food has always been consistently good. This place used to be very casual cool, brick walls, neon signs, with wacky interior props like a vintage bathtub at the entrance full of peanuts and jukebox and licence plates on the walls. Now, it looks more like your family dine in restaurant, dim lighting, shades of brown and beige, which doesn't feel original. They still serve complimentary popcorn on request and as long as the food is good and cheap, I'll keep going. read more

Staying in Brossard for a few days. The parking lot always seemed full, so we figured it had to be good. Went for dinner on a Sunday night. Didn't have to wait long for a table. That was a plus. Waiter Steve was great. Helped us since we were English and couldn't read the menu. Food took a really long time. Ordered our steaks medium and they were well done and super salty. Sons burger was burnt. Did not get refills on our drinks until we were all done eating. Steve was great but over worked and didn't have enough time to attend to his tables. Large menu, reasonably priced and always has coupon deals that makes it a great place to spend the night with friends for cheap. The food isn't to die for but it is good old fashion Canadian food. Great poutines, good club sandwich and fun atmosphere:) Next time I want to try the baked potato hear it is yummy. Sure it get's busy sometimes but that is part of the charm. Always go to this restaurant when visiting my family in Montreal. It's my favorite place for breakfast, the omelettes, toast and coffee are great. Service is not bad. For lunch I've tried the cheese lasagna(amazing), chicken brochettes and fish and chips are some of my favorites. I love this place:-) read more

This place was fine. They accepted me close to closing time, and did so with friendly service, so I give them credit for that. The regulars sitting around the bar got quiet for awhile after I walked in but eventually began chatting and hugging their beers again. They were sweeping the floor all around me as I ate which is a big turn off - but then again I was there with just minutes to go before closing so I won't complain. Don't be afraid to stop in this place for an average working class meal. As a previous reviewer said, "the food isn't to die for but it's good old fashioned Canadian food." Hmm, was not impressed with my last visit, the service was awful and the food just average. The only best part about Barbies is their baked potato. However the location is great for families who want to throw a birthday party or just pretty much anything for groups of folks to much over some great time. With that said if you like baked potatoes, please do try the baked potatoes here. I dont know how they make it but they actually mix the potatoe with cream cheese and stuff it back in the potatoe with cheese on top. The word YUM with even caps lock does not cover the taste that I am trying to describe. read more
