Brochette de poulet à la grecque
Joana Z.

This is my family and I's go-to place. Every time we're arguing about where to eat, we know that the argument will end up in us choosing Barbie's and everyone being happy about it. The amazing thing about this place is that they have their 1/2 off coupons. If you're a big family and want everyone to eat a good plate, this will save you a lot of coins! They also have 2 for 25$ and 2 for 30$ options which are also very convenient. We used to go there all the time until I stopped eating meat. The only options they have for vegetarians is their veggie burgers (the pattie isn't really good) and the salads. Also, I would advise you to call and make a reservation before showing up, especially on a Saturday or Sunday night, it gets extremely full quick! Let me tell you though, every plate on the menu that I've tried before (except for the veggie burger) is delicious. If you're into Mexican, try the Mexicali star. If you're into greek try the chicken brochette à la grecque. If you want a burger, try the British burger. The ribs are to die for and the desserts are exquisite. The portions sizes are HUGE, you will be full and also may not be able to finish your plate. Finally, the service is great. The waiters and waitresses are extremely patient, especially with explaining their deals since they have a lot of them! Definitely would recommend

Your typical family joint- this one is a popular spot in the shore. They're know for their mailed out coupons and 2 for 1 deals that make the meals here worth more than your bang for the buck. Easy access on Taschereau by bus of car with plenty of parking. There is a lot of seating indoor, outdoor and for private events- reception room in the back that can be rented out for large parties. Reservations for 5 or under usually not required even on weekends. You get complimentary popcorn before your meal. Just a side note: the meals are actually very large - can easily be shared amongst 2. We ordered (rating out of 5 *): garlic butter butterfly shrimp plate *** (10 pieces of shrimp and a chicken broth rice); teriyaki chicken filet plate****(note- this usually comes with a honey mustard sauce- I replaced it, sides - a creamy whipped Monte Carlo potato****highly recommend, rice and Caesar salad): grilled chicken garden salad***(good portion of chicken and salad but kind of dry); VEGAN options -my sister and her bf opted for a vegetarian mushroom burger with fries ***, a vegan pizza which is nothing but dough and roasted veggies - but considering this is a deli grill - both were happy campers. Dessert: 2 for 1 on cake on Sundays - cheese cake**** was moist and so good but I had no space! All this for 72$ for 6 ppl without tip. Can't get better for a family deal!!

Decided to go eat there for lunch today. Use to go there many years ago. Wanted to see something new! Service was slow, the waitress was not the best I ever had. Food were good but I ate better than this. Had an dessert and tasted like if it came out from the freezer. The seating area at the bar section (booth) were tight especially for my physical weight!

We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. We ordered a French onion soup, steak Diane, and a beef Wellington. The entrees came with choice of salad. We tried one of each , house Gibby salad and the blue cheese wedge. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. The prices seemed fair for a steakhouse and for the amount of food we ate.

Walking in, the atmosphere struck me--it's dark and cozy, but still well lit enough to feel inviting. We were seated right away. I was a little worried about how we were dressed, but the vibe turned out to be pretty flexible. We saw everything from nicely dressed couples to a bachelor party--complete with the groom-to-be in a hotdog costume! The menu was straightforward but impressive. Every entrée comes with your choice of a Gibbys salad or a wedge salad with blue cheese, plus a potato (do yourself a favor and get the Monte Carlo--you'll thank me later). For my appetizer, I ordered the French onion soup. I've said before that certain restaurants have the "best" one, but this version may actually take the crown. It wasn't oily, and it was perfectly topped with a generous, melty layer of cheese--the way French onion soup should be. I followed that with the Gibbys salad and a 12-ounce filet. I love a good filet, and this one hit the mark. My husband went for the lamb with the wedge salad and enjoyed both thoroughly. By the end, we were far too stuffed for dessert, so we called it a night. If you're looking to splurge on a memorable, romantic dinner in Montreal, Gibbys is the place to go

The dip was served in a chipped soup bowl which had obviously been microwaved as the edges of the dip were literally hard and stuck to the sides of the bowl. My guest had a burger which was cooked so thoroughly that the meat was dry and hard and despite asking for no onions, her burger came with onions. I ordered shrimp and lobster rolls - what a mistake! No lobster, only small (I think canned) shrimp. The seafood had obviously been frozen because it was wet and completely flavourless - served on top of two hard, dry little buns. This restaurant should be ashamed of the food quality here. The service was poor - they could not possibly have cared less about my reservation for 2. Our order was taken, food was dropped off by a runner and we never saw our server until it was time for the bill - we had to ask the hostess for ketchup - no refill was offered on drinks. The decor is tired. The tables are chipped and the faux leather seats are peeling from wear. Just avoid. We were $100 for 2 people (no alcohol, only one Diet Coke), and the food was the worst I've had in a while. Yuck.

Tables are jammed so close together you end up shoulder-to-shoulder with strangers, dodging servers and elbows the whole time. It's noisy, cramped, and stressful -- the opposite of a relaxing meal. Layout makes no sense: tiny two-tops shoved beside high-traffic zones, larger parties squeezed into corners with zero space to move, and some tables practically touching the entrance or washroom hallway. You feel rushed before you even sit down. Chairs are hard and wobbly, there's no room for bags or coats, and you're constantly getting bumped because there's barely an aisle. If you value personal space, forget it. Service suffers because of the overcrowding. Staff are hustling but clearly stretched thin, so basics lag -- water refills, cutlery, checking in after food arrives. Food comes out at odd intervals and cools fast in the drafty spots. The noise level is cafeteria-grade; you end up shouting across the table. Accessibility is an afterthought: tight turns, blocked paths, and nowhere to park a stroller or mobility aid without being in someone's way. This isn't just my night, either. A lot of other reviews for the Saint-Bruno location say the same things: overbooked, packed in, chaotic atmosphere, long waits even with a reservation, and staff forced to manage a floor plan that puts turnover ahead of comfort. The pattern is pretty clear -- maximize seats, minimize experience. If management wants repeat customers, they need to pull tables, widen aisles, fix traffic pinch points near the door and washrooms, add soft surfaces to tame the reverb, and stop overbooking peak hours. Until then, there are plenty of places nearby that won't make you pay to feel like you're eating in a hallway.

I said I wasn't going to do it on this last visit, but I broke down. I'm talking about going to…read morethe buffet at Saveurs des Continents, the apparent new name for Buffet des Continents. The newer name means "flavors of the continents" when translated into English and that probably has a better ring to it than the previous name. The dishes here go all the way from 2 to 5 stars, so that averages out to 3.5 stars, which isn't so bad considering how much choice they offer. Mostly I take from the Canadian-North American, Italian, Greek, and Middle Eastern food. They also have a staffed grill where they can cut you a nice little slab of meat. They have a section with Asian food and I also noticed a sushi area, the latter of which is beyond my line of demarcation. This is why, as I've said on the previous review, you will be breaking bread with people from 5 continents. (Should there be a token Australian in attendance, that would take it up to 6 continents.) The service at Saveurs des Continents is fine. Be sure to engage the server in such a way that they don't forget you and won't clean off your table while you are going up to the buffet line to get another plate of food. (I've had that happen up at St. Jerome once, and the place was far from full.) In this case, the server and I spoke Spanish and he didn't mind at all because, after all, this is Montreal and it subscribes to the concept of a "cultural mosaic." Bring it on. There is also a person who will come around to take a drink order, but I go with the included coffee or tea. With all that said, the pricing scheme is fair. It is slightly different depending on the time of the day and day of the week. The pricing includes a gratuity to the tune of about 12.5%, if I recall correctly, that they distribute to the employees. You are free to give your server a little bit more if you choose to. So, in revisiting Saveurs des Continents, I'm going to go with 4 stars. They offer a lot of food choices across a broad spectrum, fair pricing, decent service, and a unique brand of quirkiness and diversity that you don't easily forget. Also, with REM joining the Metro system and Exo commuter trains, this newer light rail system can take you from the city to the south shore. Your stop will be the Panama station and, from there, there is a pedestrian underpass and path that goes to the shopping center with this buffet. One thing is that it will be easier to get back home with the light rail and not think of having to adjust your tilt steering wheel upward. Finally, if this American manages to come in here once on each visit to Montreal area, then this Saveurs des Continents is more realistically a 4 star sort of place.
