Been coming to this place for years always a hit or miss. Today we decided to grab a quick bite and every employee we encountered was nasty and terrible attitude. We came in at 9:28pm asked if we can grab a table the waiter looked confused and said "I don't think so because we close at 10pm" He then said he will ask his manager. We explained that if the kitchen is closing and there is a curfew we don't mind just getting a drink and heading out. Then a blonde server came out and I know she is a server because she waited on us many times before but she told us that she's the manager and that we weren't allowed to stay at the establishment. She repeated that they close at 10pm and I pointed out that it was only 9:30, she then laughed and said thank you for giving me the time and walked away. Finally had a chance to swing by one of my favorite areas on the Beach for HH at Barceloneta. Unlike many other HH's in Miami, this one last until 8 PM which is awesome. There's a designated seating outside for HH. Great service as the waiters were very attentive. Drinks: - Ordered a pitched of red sangria. Pretty standard sangria - nothing too special, although there were other options on the menu. Food: - Overall, great experience. The prices were great so we ordered a little bit of almost everything, as they are tapas and shareable. - Least favorite: Not a fan of the brussel sprouts as they were too oily and drenched in sauce. Came here for HH on a Wednesday afternoon. Had the patatas bravas, huevo rotos con chorizos and the pulga de calamar. They were all very good. Not a patatas bravas kind of person, but I liked them. The huevos rotos were on the heavier more greasier side for me, so I didn't enjoy them as much. Also had the "aveces si y aveces no" cocktail which I thought would have a spicier kick to it, but didn't. Service was good and friendly. Overall just judging on happy hour and a short visit I'd give the place a four stars, not phenomenal, but far from below average. read more

This is one of my favorite Spanish restaurants in Miami. But I don't come here for Spanish food. Instead, I come for the twist on Spanish food. Don't get me wrong - I LOVE traditional Spanish food, but there's so many excellent Spanish places in Miami. A twist to the cuisine doesn't hurt - and this place does it really well. I had these dishes, and they were all : - remolacha - calamares - arroz negro - tortilla patata - piquillo The only thing that I thought needed a bit of an improvement was the pulpo a feira (octopus), and I LOVE octopus. The only thing I don't like about Pubbelly chain of restaurants is that they can be a bit too pricey for the portions that are served. But I can't deny the fact that the quality of the food have always been excellent. Luckily, people can find deals online for this place, in case if they need to go on a budget at times. And since it's a part of the Pubbelly chain, try to come during the off hours, to beat the crowds. read more

I went here tonight after overhearing a couple talk about it in the bar at my hotel. I was dining alone after some plans fell through and was surprised to find it so empty especially when it's counterpart, pubbelly, was so alive and packed around the corner. The bartender was really great about helping me find a wine I enjoyed. It felt like I was the only person in there that wasn't fluent in Spanish which at first made me feel insecure but then completely sure that I had come across a gem. I ordered the bikini sandwich (cheesy and delicious) and chocolate shrimp (not too sweet with a solid marinade). Give this place a shot. Dimly lit, cozy, intimate. Not great for the solo diner, unless you happen to be fluent in Spanish. Monday is half off full bottles of wine and the happy hour is until 8 on weekdays. read more

The food is delicious and the ambiance is very relaxed and comfortable. The service, while very nice, is slow. Additionally, the prices outside of happy hour are quite high. A small thing of patatas bravas was $17! It was maybe one potato. The pincho de tortilla (a VERY small bite-sized cube of Spanish tortilla) was $5 each, which for the size is extremely unreasonable. I came here for happy hour. Gave this place a chance as I normally just go to Pubbely, the restaurant next door. I had a pleasant surprise despite the awkward initial interaction with the first waiter. Deceptive selling practices - charged $17 for bread and water! Unfortunately, I didn't read Yelp or Google reviews in advance, as it was a last minute decision to eat here (now that I have read reviews, it seems others have had similar experiences). We sat down at the table where there was an open, nondescript bottle of water on the table. The server instantly poured the water for us as we sat down. While taking our order, the server asked we would like bread, to which we replied "yes." The gambas al ajillo had good flavor but only 6 very small pieces of seafood in the plate. The arroz negro also had good flavor but was mostly rice and hardly any fish or seafood in it. At the end of the meal, I was shocked when the check came & I saw that we were charged $8 for what a reasonable person would've presumed was tap water and $9 for bread. NOWHERE in the menu was there any indication of a charge for bread or water, the server never gave us an option for water (i.e. "tap, sparkling, or still"), and at no point did the server communicate that there would be a charge for bread or water. Even if the food and wine had been spectacular, those deceptive practices alone is reason enough for me to not return. read more

En la aplicación banco nos salía la notificación del ajuste también. Decidimos no hablar con el manager porque estaba en una mesa tomando y hablando con personas todo el tiempo que estuvimos ahí. Vinimos esta mañana para intentar hablar con alguien responsable y una chica nos dijo que teníamos que regresar en otro momento sin mostrar ningún interés en el problema que teníamos. This place purports to be an authentic Catalan restaurant but falls a bit short of the mark. Iberian ham was authentic and good. Manchego cheese tasted like it was out of a packet. Potatoes were soft unlike the waxy Mediterranean of the region. Smoked salmon avocado on bread was very doughy and mushy. Poached eggs with hollandaise sauce and Iberian ham was excellent. Tortilla ( egg and potato pie) Was nothing like the real thing... not enough egg and potatoes were mushy. Croquettes were tasty but very bready . I had a pannacotta like dessert topped with crunchy chocolate. Extremely rich and sweet. Almost too rich to finish. The entire experience was a carb overload . He didn't even check up on us not a single time until we left the restaurant ( there were only two other groups in the outside area). The food was okay for but it was not worth it. We ordered gambas al ajillo, which was served in less than 5 minutes and COLD. They didn't even provide breads to start so when we ordered it, the server brought it in a brown bag ( I don't understand what this means). Overall it was so disappointing. 2nd time I have had a HORRIBLE Experience at this restaurant. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! Sat outside - took 30 minutes to get drinks. More than an hour for even one plate of appetizer. The place was not even half full and they didn't have enough staff to cover. Food arrived cold and without any flavoring. Sent the cold food back and we waited another 30 minutes for replacement food to arrive. I had to get up several times to find my waitress to ask for more drinks/food. I went to Barceloneta on a Friday for Happy Hour. What I didn't appreciate is that the selections they have for happy hour are very few and no good. If you want to eat the most popular and typical Spanish tapas like jamon serrano, queso manchego, gambas al ajillo, etc you have to pay full price. I think its a pretty sly way to trick you into going to the restaurant for happy hour but in the end you pay full price. Wont be going again. Don't like to be tricked. read more
