Watched this place transform last year as they started to build - I live within eye shot view of them! The space is amazing - from the chill upstairs bar, to the bright colored patio, to the moody basement. Service was top notch, and cocktails are so tasty! I was so excited to bring my friend here who is visiting from out of town as she loves tequila and Mezcal and I had scooped out the best places to take her in town. I checked their Instagram Facebook Google and yelp and all directed me to their website to confirm their hours which said open at 11 AM on Sunday. I'm sure you know what's next. We Ubered down on Sunday at 1pm, got dropped off, only finding no one there. Someone outside said they open at 2, but I was confused so again checked the site. We were deciding on if we walk to a new destination or pay for more Ubers and it really ads up when you expected a business to ar least update one website to ensure customers come when open. This place is a hidden gem tucked in a corner hard to get in. But once you park and can make it inside it's all worthy. It's different coming in. A big bar at the front and then, if you find your way downstairs you'd feel in a completely different place. I was super pleasently surprised. The music is pumping, but you can still have a conversation. It's dark but lighted enough to feel comfortable. Our server, Sam was fantastic. This place is a good spot to chill. I could go on and on about this place!! It's my absolute fave!! Talk about feeling like you're in Mexico! They hit everything spot on. The place itself is so gorg and everything is imported from Mexico itself. David, Ryan, Grant and the rest of the crew do their best to always make sure we have a great time. They have numerous Mezcal and Tequila to choose from. And they even serve it in a copita with oranges and Sal de Guzano!! (I mean seriously whaaaa) None of that gross washed out mixed cocktails full of nothing but chasers and sugar. Their bartenders are well educated and love accommodating to newcomers. Stopped by for their "602" day yesterday but there was no Agave or Mezcal tasting as promised. The female bartender had no clue that was even being offered. Disappointed that they advertised a fun event and then did not provide as promised. One of the owners was there but did not interact with any of the patrons, disappointing. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect showing up to this hidden gem! Staff was super helpful. Really loved the bar and patio scene and the drinks were amazing. My wife isn't into tequila or mezcal, but the had plenty of options. We didn't have a reservation, but open seating at the downstairs bar and it was a whole different experience. We did a couple flights and my wife had a few of the mezcal drinks and fell in love with the Horchata. I stuck mainly to the mezcalrita and of course flights over all just amazing experience! My wife and I came in for a drink at Barcoa Agaveria last evening on the way to a show. It was the first time we've ever visited and we really enjoyed it. We made plans to come out next weekend and spend more time with some friends; however, when I woke up, I reviewed my receipt and I noticed something that's very concerning to me. It was just me and my wife and the bartender added a large party 20% gratuity. I did not notice this and added a generous tip on top of that. Is this a customary practice at Barcoa Agaveria?? I dine out a lot, and I've been to an obscene amount of bars, breweries, and restaurants in Arizona and all over the world, and this just doesn't happen when there is a party of two and when that said party is just ordering a couple of drinks at the bar. I feel cheated. I realize this is an insignificant amount of money, but it is the principle. And I hope they understand that and I hope they understand why their patrons would not appreciate it. I hope they talk to the bartender and make sure that he is aware that this is not the right thing to do and should not be customary. If it is, then maybe the bartender should be transparent about it and let the customers know it is already included. There are way too many options in the Valley and there is no way someone is going to return and on a regular basis if he or she feels cheated, and I feel cheated. On top of this, the bartender wasn't helpful at all and doesn't know a thing about mezcal. He was unwelcoming and rude. I'll never return. read more

I really love the ambience of this place , it reminds me of Scottsdale moody bars BEFORE all the garish meretricious people ruined it (DBs, IYKYK). The drinks are priced reasonably. As much as I love this location, considering it's 11:15pm on a Thursday and I have work early - the music is way too loud, even after it says the business is closed. It is not a weekend yet, or a holiday so it is quite late to have the music blaring. Had an amazing time at Barcoa Agaveria last night. The bartenders were super friendly and efficient. Had the opportunity to talk to the owner and he was so kind and friendly. We sat on the patio and even in 100 degrees weather the misters kept us cool. I attended this bar with my girlfriend during "First Fridays." We initially ate food at Bibis Kitchen then went inside to eat our food. My girlfriend was thirsty and then she ordered a drink at the bar (granted this is a mezcaleria). As we tried to get the bartenders' attention. They both ignored us and tended to other customers. Then we finally got their attention She ordered a mezcalerita. I then watched the bartender make the drink. I've had mezcaleritas in Jalisco where they make mezcal and I've never seen something made so half assed. Overall the drink was subpar and I wouldn't bother to visit again. An amazing agave bar in downtown Phoenix. The staff is super knowledgeable. You have your chill Cantina style up. Top with different style, cocktails and neat pours. Then head down below in the sexy Mezcal lounge with elevated cocktails. A huge back bar of premium agave spirits, plus a private room for different style events. If you can get a reservation, definitely get one! If not, you can likely still be seated, but you will just have a time restriction. The place is so unsuspecting and honestly it's a total vibe. Phoenix needed a mezcal bar and this place seems so authentic. We ordered a flight of mezcal and could really taste each individual flavor. I also got a margarita and it was fantastic.
