After the experience before, I was a bit hesitant when Claudia left me after reading my review to rectify the situation. BUT, I was willing to play ball, and see what could be done. I did after all, have two sessions left. Rescheduling was a bit difficult, but as it turns out, the receptionist is solely for bare body but also for the other offices also connected in the space. I went back for my sessions and than some. Claudia was super nice and very determined to resolve my hair issue. Even using two different lasers to get rid of it. Unfortunately, after two months, the hair has grown back - although obviously not to the degree it was, but enough that I still have to shave. Maybe I just have super stubborn hair? In any event, considering how determined Claudia was to make sure it worked, I would consider going back for treatments of other body parts too. read more

What can I say? I'm not a newbie to laser hair removal but I never had such a great experience before. They have a brand new laser machine (like the other reviews say) that it doesn't hurt at all! I have to be honest, at first I thought it was a scam ( how can you remove hair without pain?! .. it's too good to be true!!) but after 2 months and barely no hair growing I am amazed by it! Their prices are WAAY better then in the city and they have some "package specials" . The spa is just outside the N/Q train... no hassle to get there .. Like other reviewers, I do not like this salon either because of the fact that I did 3 laser hair removal sessions and it didn't do anything!!!! I think it's because the fact that it was a groupon deal and the owner who performed my procedures intentionally used lower "dose" of laser to make sure you have to buy more sessions. You know why I know?? Because I already did 2 sessions of laser removal at the same spot in another place (regular price) and trust me, 2 sessions got rid of 60% of the hair. The owner then suggested me to purchase another 3 sessions (she said that she can give me the best deal - same price as a groupon) and I did. So I did another session. 4 sessions in total but DID NOT DO ANYTHING AT ALL I was really upset and called to ask for refund (at least the second 3-session I bought). I was very worried about getting discoloration or any other unpleasant side effect. - I heard from friends that if if the procedure is done incorrectly this could happen. Claudia shared with me that as long as I avoid the sun for a 1/2 weeks afterwards I would be in the clear. It looks and feels amazing - I always used to have a small dark haired mustache but now its nearly all gone. The thinness of the hairs that grow back every 2 month are so minuscule that you can barely notice, but have grown picky since I love being hair-free in this daily exposed area. I purchased a groupon in March 2012 and I have not been able to book an appoitment (its July 2012). I tried to book on-line but the site ALWAYS asks for credit card information and wants to charge me 99 dollars. I call and tell Claudia that I purchased a groupon, she tells me "yeah its ok, just book the appoitment on-line" I tell her the site wants to charge me 99 dollars, she says it wont charge me (me thinks she lies) don't waste your time or money at this salon. I tried the laser hair removal on my underarms and am pretty satisfied with the results. I can't speak for everyone else but i have personally had a great experience and will deffff go back for more. I had a dark tattoo on my arm and after 3 sessions its almost completely faded. Everything was quick easy and straight forward. Of course the removal does hurt but nothing you can't put up with. I was very skeptical at first after the 1st sessions but as time passed and the use of the laser on the tattoo it eventually faded. I recommend this place along with time and patience. read more

I sought hair removal treatment with Claudia because I have allergy to metal. Thus, whenever I shaved, my face would get very itchy and red, and irritation would develop in the next days. I have done three sessions, and now I barely have to shave. The parts that I still have to shave require a single razor run, and I am done with no irritation. Claudia has a state-of-the-art machine, which doesn't cause much pain at all. I was able to do my entire face within one session and without any numbing cream. I have been to a lot of laser places, and Claudia is not only nice, but truly dedicated to her clients havering a good experience- and she is relentless when it comes to making sure you are hair free. Her machines are also newer, and cause less pain than other machines in other centers- and she provides great advice about which laser will be most effective for your skin and hair type. I also love that she refused to treat me once, as my skin seemed unusually tan to her even though I had been out of the sun for over 2 weeks- she didn't want me to experience any skin discoloration and asked me to come back in a week- just to be safe. I also want to point out for reviews I have read below, where people have gone for 2-3 sessions and hair still grows back. The problem here is not Bare Body laser, but rather your expectations. Laser never fully removes your hair, and hormonal changes can make hair grow back (has happened to several friends for example after pregnancy or changing birth control). Furthermore, any reputable laser place will tell you that while you will see some hair disappear in a few sessions, because hair grows in cycles, and laser is only effective when a follicle is in a growth cycle, you will need a minimum of 6-8 sessions to ensure that you have hit all the hair follicles once. Before complaining, I suggest becoming an informed consumer. read more

I still cannot get over the fact that I spent more than $400 at that place... I purchased two groupons for two different body parts in July of 2011. When I went to their old location on 73d street, Claudia, the owner of the place, convinced me to get 2 more vouchers of the same kind that Groupon offered for the same price. The first two sessions were just a waste, they didn't do anything. And the sessions were extremely painful!!! Also, when I was the first client in the morning, Claudia would get in 20-30 mins late complaining about parking issues, etc. Yes, it was rude but I was still full of hope that I'd get rid of that damn hair and kept biting my lips because it was that much painful. I have to add that between visits I could see my hair not growing back. But after all the sessions were over, all the hair was back like I hadn't done any sessions. Partially, I blamed it on the fact that I changed my bc pills right after the last session and that it led to such lousy results (hormones, you know). But after trying out Deify Laser and Beauty I blame it on Claudia's incompetence. P.S. I don't who writes those glorious reviews on Citysearch and four of them were posted on june 15-14, 2001 but please don't go there. I had a good experience here for tatoo removal. I found it to be a professional, clean and comfortable environment and Claudia was very honest, focused and friendly. I had a 13 year old tattoo I wanted to remove, a tree, black ink, about 2 inches by 1 inch, so on the smaller side. I used two Groupons for 6 sessions and it's mostly disappeared! Yes, the removal stings a bit and I'm a whimp and don't think I'd be able to handle a larger area without being knocked out. Perhaps because I wasn't really expecting it to to fade as well as it did, I'm happily surprised with the treatment. She told me to wait 6 months to let the ink be absorbed naturally, which it has done and I just need to go back to see if the little shadow that's left can be minimized (I'm very pale so everything shows up). I did have a difficult time signing up online too and ended up walking in and made my appointments that way, so the technical process of making appointments on line could be tweaked, but I think you can make appointments over the phone too. read more

Bare Body Laser Spa offered a Groupon in March 2012 for tattoo removal. It was a fabulous deal, so I did some research, found decent reviews and purchased 6 sessions. I tried to make my first appointment that day, and had the same issue Cat S. described, where the site tried to charge me $99, despite having a Groupon. There were no special instructions for Groupon customers, so after about 10 minutes on their website, I called the spa for help. The next day I received an email that my appointment had to be rescheduled; the new tattoo removal laser wasn't going to be ready in time. No big deal, I immediately rescheduled for a few weeks later. A few days before my second attempted appointment, I received another email that Claudia would be out of town for a conference, and my appointment had to be rescheduled. Hmmm, at this point, it's becoming annoying and a little unprofessional, but okay. I can understand these things happen. I make a third appointment (now 6 weeks after I purchased the Groupon), and sure enough, receive an email a week later that my appointment needs to be rescheduled, this time with no explanation. That was it for me. I called Groupon that day for a refund. I can't speak to the quality of the facility itself, or any of the services they offer because despite my best efforts, Claudia cancelled every appointment I made with her. I also found this place on groupon for three sessions of tattoo removal. i tried to make my first appointment in September 2012. They wanted me to book my appointment online which wouldn't even work because their website wasn't updated. Then I finally managed to make an appointment with Claudia and that's when it all began. They emailed and called six separate occasions in a one week time period to cancel and rebook. I had to rebook 6 times! The part that was most upsetting was they were booking me for their Astoria location which turned out not even to be open on the days they were making the appointments with me. Then in the end the last attempt we booked the appointment at their nyc location. The next day I received a call that my appointment can not be finalized unless I book my appointment online. I said that we already tried that but it doesn't work. The woman on the phone said, "Well why don't you give it another try?" I got fed up and returned the deal to groupon. Oh, but it doesn't end there. On November 24th I started receiving phone calls and emails from them trying to book an appointment with me. Two months later! I didn't want them to continue calling so I wrote an email back saying, "Sorry I am very busy and was not able to call. I am no longer interested in planning a visit. I have already returned the groupon due to the fact that my original appointment was changed 6 times in one week. Not by my choice. I do not want to come off aggressive or angry but I did loose time and money over trying to schedule an appointment with your company. I have 13 tattoos that I was interested in removing. I would have made a good client. It is a shame that this could not work out differently." Response: "Hi, Im very sorry, but due to the Hurricane we had some issues with one of our locations. If you are still interested you can get the same deal directly with us. Im sorry for the inconvienece. I hope you decide to reconsider. This business is a rip off. I tried them out about a year ago with a groupon and then I ended up paying another $200 on top of that. I would have continued treatments but on my last visit I had another tech (not Claudia) and she quoted me some insane price to continue treatments. Of course I didn't go back. But the sad thing was that Claudia didn't even call me to see what was going on. Like they wanted to get rid of a customer. They are running a scam. Horrible/no results. I paid over $400 for a laser hair removal package. After the 7 treatment package I have only slightly less hair I that area than before & it seems to only stunt the growth of hair, not permanently remove it. I was also promised fantastic results during my consultation & then was told after my 6th appointment that even after the 7 treatments I would need to keep coming back several times a year to keep hair growth at bay, or else it will all come back in full force. Thanks for letting me know on my 6th appointment & $400 later! So the shop should be called "only temporarily stunts growth of hair for a lot of money". I complained to the manager & was told I must be in the very small percentage of people that lasers don't work on. So.... The other 3 people I know that have gone there & gotten horrible results as well are also in this small group? We should buy a lottery ticket! read more
