I like the interior design. It's a fun and cozy feel. All the outside tables were occupied, so were the booths and some other tables. So it was busy. We waited a little to be seated (no big deal) and when the guy came, he just told us to pick any of the half booth/half chair tables. We got our waters and menus. The guy apologized for the wait, which was nice. I ordered the Fire Quaker with the side of ring and fries. And the Clown Shoes Galactica on tap. First off, I was ecstatic that they had a good variety of beers on tap! The burger was delicious. I really enjoyed it. The duck patty wasn't over cooked or anything. It was just right. I added egg and bacon which I knew cost extra. I also got cheese and caramelized onions. My burger ended up costing around $18. They charged like $1.50 for cheese. For cheese. My GF got the standard burger on the menu, which she said was ruined by the sauce. She asked for medium. I asked for medium rare. She got medium rare and I got medium. Ok. So the food is definitely good. You can't argue that the menu is fun, interesting, and gives you lots of options. Today I ordered the burger with blue cheese and it was delicious! I also couldn't resist ordering my favorite thing here: the root beer float! So yummy! Ok, on to the service. .. A hipster-ish fellow with a porn-stache came to the table to take the order. I ordered the incredible, Big Bopper burger, and while the presentation was just adorable (they grill a heart on the top of each vegan burger bun!!!), the temperature of the burger when I first took a bite wasn't really warm enough. After much persuasion from my friend to mention something, after I had already taken a few bites might I add, she called over our wonderful waitress, Makayla, who wasted no time in apologizing and ensuring they would whip up a new one ASAP! The manager then came over to the table, apologized himself, and explained that the mishap was simply due to the chilled sauce that they add on top of the burger once it is cooked. He reassured me that the chefs were making a fresh burger as we speak and would be sure to bring the chilled sauce on the side, as to prevent the same issue from occurring. The burger came out and was piping hot and I gobbled up EVERY LAST BIT!!! My friend and I were so shocked to find that they removed the burger from our check so it was completely FREE!! Been here twice about a year apart. Both times the food has been hella good while the service has been quite shitty. This time, to make up for the fact that the server didn't greet us until after my daughter had colored her entire kids menu (about 10 minutes), the server offered to take care of my side order of fries (an extra $4.25 on top of my $14 burger). Admittedly, he didn't offer until I scoffed at the price of fries not coming with an expensive ass burger. And I think he picked up the fact that I was in crap mood after waiting so long to be greeted. But again, the food was great. My kids had the grizzly burger (basically a slider) with fries and chocolate milk ($8.95 is kinda pricey for a kids meal). I had the build-a-burger with beef and brioche bun, and some add-one that increased the price of the burger. Burger was cooked as ordered (med rare) and was delicious and juicy. Also ordered a side of the roasted Brussels sprouts with Asiago and lemon. Pretty damn good, but I like BS (pun intended). Came here with friends because the location was convenient for us, and we were very pleasantly surprised. There were plenty good options for non-meat eaters that were explained by our knowledgeable and attentive surfer. My onion rings and Impossible Burger were delicious. The highlight of my experience though was tasting their amazingly mixed cocktails. Prior to this visit, I was not even aware that this place had a full bar! The manager (Laura? Nora?) personally explained the drink menu for us and made great recommendations. My spiced apple Margarita was delicious and beautifully made (topped with an anise pod!) Next time I might try their old fashioned... it sounded really good, but I didn't want to mix . I'll be definitely returning not just for their food but also for their cocktails. The drink menu and my drinks were pretty outstanding, so I might even come by just for drinks regularly too. Whenever I go to Edgewater to visit friends this is the eatery we almost always meet to dine and on occasion when not in a hurry, enjoy a drink or two. Bareburger has been in business to my knowledge for a few years and they have consistently offered a solid menu consisting of over a dozen types of burger plates, several versions of fries, shakes, and various salads and sandwiches to choose from. I've had most all the burgers on the menu and I can't say I've been dissatisfied. The cooked Brussels-sprouts with shaved cheese are also quite great, especially as a side dish if avoiding the calories from breaded onion rings and / or their fries. Pro: they redesigned their locale, which up until recently was simple, modern with rustic touches but had little character. Con: the price of the wine! I paid over 50$ for a half-liter bottle when other locales and wine clubs offer the same for about 25/28$. At least the glass isn't bad, but I was left a bit shocked at how steep the price for a bottle was. Overall, this and most Bareburgers are a plus if you choose a midway point between fast food and dining. Not all have liquor on their menu so if you have one near check to see that it's BYOB. Others that I recommend are the location in Hoboken, Montclair, and 14th Street/6th Avenue. read more

The Flamin Bacon Burger really hit the spot, and the fries and onions were good too! Not too salty or greasy, which I like. The burger bun was so good, MUCH better than the cheap buns at fast food places. If I could give it a zero star I would. Today when I was ordering my meals, I particularly pointed at the menu, said I want two Polar meals (in the picture it includes a drink (milk), a grill cheese and French fries). Then the meals arrived without the drinks. So I asked my server, should my meals included two drinks and she said yes and bought me back two cartons of milk as requested. Then I asked for the bill and I saw an additional charge of $5 and I didn't know what that was for. Then the manager (I didn't ask for her name) jumped in telling me that that $5 was for the milks because I didn't ask for any drinks at the time when I ordered the meals and then I requested it after the meals had arrived so the milks had to charged additionally. To me, first, it was the server who forgot to bring me the drinks which it should have included in my meals, I was just asking it back when I realized after my meals came. Second, on the bill I was charged a full price for two Polar meals which is $9 each and that price should have including drinks. I do not understand how and why I have to be charged for the milks. That was not it, the manager was not friendly at all when she tried to explain to me and she scared me and my kids with that aggressive attitude and a bad tone of voice. Very disappointed. I had unbelievably great service tonight for dinner. I sat at the bar and the bartender Nicki, was extremely attentive and a very good bartender. She made some suggestions for what i should order (Uptown Fries) and the food came out great. You can tell she is very passionate at her job. I really love burgers and as such I'm always looking for the next best burger joint sadly Bareburger isn't it. We ordered: Fries and Rings Combo (served with special sauce | curry ketchup | smokehouse sauce | smoked paprika mayo) Roadhouse (pepperjack | country bacon | hass avocado | fire roasted red peppers sweet apple grilled onions | smoked paprika mayo {recommended with bison}) Mediterranean (iceberg lettuce | cucumbers | raw red onions | fire roasted red peppers | cucumber mint yogurt {recommended with lamb}) The Fries were okay. They were a thicker cut fry but they were not seasoned. The Rings were disappointing. They too were not seasoned and the breading was dry. I had high hoped for the curry ketchup but it had a very strong Anise flavor (and I loath black licorice {honestly one of the only things a despise}). The smokehouse sauce had a strange almost cola flavor. The smoked paprika sauce had a odd lingering after taste. The only decent sauce was the special sauce but we concluded the only thing "special" about it was it wasn't as bad as the other three sauces. We split the burgers in half to give them each a fair taste. Upon cutting them open we realized they were both over cooked. The Roadhouse (which we ordered with the recommended Bison burger) was ordered medium. The Mediterranean (which was ordered with the recommended Lamb) was ordered medium well. Both burgers came out well done. My other gripe with the burgers was (no surprise here) they were not seasoned. Individually: Had the Mediterranean been cooked properly it would have given the lamb better flavor instead it was dry and flavorless. The cucumber mint yogurt sauce was severely lacking. Despite being over cooked and not seasoned the bison on the Roadhouse was very gamey. The avocado was cut too thick which caused it to just slide right out of the bun when you took a bite. The grilled onions get some props though they were tasty. Like others have said there is a up charge for nearly everything. There is a core burger selection and then added fee for Bison, Ostrich, and other "premium" patties. On the plus I really liked the look of the place. If they had a liquor license I could maybe overlook the underwhelming burgers while I sit by the roll up doors on a nice spring/summer day, but they don't, so I don't really have a reason to come back. read more

Dining In - Service is always pretty slow here, despite the large number of staff. Kitchen is pretty slow with bringing food out, servers aren't very attentive, and I'd always have to wave someone down to get water/drinks, etc. Food itself is great and I love their fried pickles and sweet potato fries, but prices are definitely up there (especially since burgers don't automatically come with fries), so your order total really adds up. Take Out - Ordered takeout here on multiple occasions, sometimes through Yelp and others through seamless/grubhub, and yet the kitchen has a tendency to forget about your order, prepare it incorrectly, or get something wrong. I passed this place 100 times but never went. This afternoon my girlfriend and I decided to finally give it a try.
