I've been to two Bareburger locations, so I would like to think that I'm familiar with typical quality and standards of this chain. With that said, the Ridgewood location really has to get its act together. The location is perfect - right on Ridgewood Ave near the train station. Decor is very typical of Bareburger - antique wood with industrial accents. I especially loved the garage door wall so that the space became an outdoor space. This is pretty much where the good things stop for me. Our waiter was very kind and handed us the paper menu and electronic drink/dessert menu. While we took a look, he came back with water and was ready to take our drink order. My sister wanted to order the strawberry lemonade, but was told that they ran out.. so she ordered something else. I ordered their fruity unsweetened iced tea. The waiter came back a few minutes later saying they actually had strawberry lemonade, so we got our drinks and then placed our order for our entrees. My sister ordered the Guapo Chop salad and I ordered the turkey burger and the rings and fries to share. One positive is that our food did come out very quickly, but the quality of food was lacking. Our fries were so soggy, almost as if they were reheated. The onion rings were fine and actually fried well. The way my turkey burger came out looked like the leaning tower of Pisa, despite the pick stuck in it that is supposed to make it stay. The salad actually turned out nicely. Our waiter did not come check on us once while we were eating. We needed extra napkins and he was no where to be found. We had to flag him down to ask to order dessert. This was THE WORST part of our dining experience. Our dessert came out from the kitchen and the running placed the s'mores dessert on our table, then left without taking our entree dishes away.. so here we are with our entree dishes blocking our dessert and the 2-person table is already small as it is. To make it worse, the spoons she gave us were so completely dirty with food on it.. not even like water marks.. dried up old food. We were so grossed out. Again, we had to flag down our waiter to ask for new spoons.. you can imagine how frustrating this was. I debated making this a 1-Star review, but most of the food was decent and the dessert was great.. but it JUST barely made the 2-Star cut. Do yourself a favor and drive to the Closter Bareburger location. You will be happy you did. read more

Had an excellent experience at Bareburger in Ridgewood, NJ. We went there straight from a basketball game championship game and my son was on the loosing team. My waiter, Angelo, was attentive and recommended the Mediterranean salad. The food came out quickly and was excellent. My 7 year old son ordered the teddy chicken nuggets that were perfectly prepared. The food and the upbeat mood of Angelo helped us quickly get over our gloomy mood. Angelo was filled with anecdotal good humor and listened to our story of almost winning the basketball game. Being a regular or downtown Ridgewood, I am SO happy about this addition!! Since I'm the first Elite to check it out, I'll give ya a detailed breakdown of everything: Drinks- may already be my favorite place for drinks in Ridgewood! The options are way better than rivaling bars. Loved the cocktail options (highly recommend the cucumber martini!). They also had a huge selection of beers on tap. Food: -Brussels sprouts- AMAZING!! By far the biggest hit for me & my fam. -Fries- loved them! One sharable size is good for two-three people. -Turkey burger- turkey was a little dried out, but the toppings (aged cheddar, onions, mushrooms, mayo) saved it. -Sweet chicken sandwich- SUPERRRR sweet. It was pretty much drenched in a sweet jelly. Would not recommend this unless you have a huge sweet tooth. -Beef burger with brisket- they definitely don't skimp on the brisket. My meat loving brother actually felt it was too much for him, but depends on your personal preference. Staff/service-I was pleasantly surprised by the service for this location being so new. Very knowledgeable of the menu items, and good with checking on tables. Decor- nicest Bareburger that we've ever been to. I loved the natural light that came through the garage style doors. Overall, me and my entire fam were super happy with our first experience at Bareburger. Wasn't obsessed with the food enough to give up my other Ridgewood spots for it, but definitely good enough to pop in for lunch/dinner every once in a while. What a disappointing dinner experience! It took forever to get our food and they kept screwing up my order. By the time I finally got my right order, everybody else was done with their meals so I just got mine to go. The waiter said "sorry for the confusion, I took it off the check" but it was on it! We were introduced to bareburger a couple of years ago when staying in NJ. Everytime we are any where near or can swing by we will get it. My DD has celiac disease and it's one of her favorite burger places to go and feel safe about eating. The manager Rich at the ridge wood location was kind and knowledgeable. should have known from the start that it wasn't going to be the best place to eat since when we sat down it took about 15 minutes for a server to actually approach us and take our orders. A table that came 10 minutes after us and had more people got their drinks and food before us. The only reason i'm giving 2 stars is because the burger tasted good and had good flavor but i asked for extra cheese and it doesn't even look like there is any and the amount of bacon is a joke. when you take off the bun it does not look appetizing and the cheese fries came with basically no cheese that we had to ask for more. Been at this location twice, both during Covid times. Good service and employees seem knowledgeable about the menu. My most recent time here was last Friday, and had a So Cal burger which is a turkey type burger--so delicious. I had regular fries but tried a friend of mine's sweet potato fries which were good too! Food is not good here. The beef pattys are a strange flavorless grey color. The bison burger was dry as a bone with no flavor. No hint of seasoning (salt or pepper). Bacon jam was good (the only highlight) but not nearly enough to overpower the dry meat. Your better off getting some ground beef from the Swiss pork store in Fairlawn and making your own. This is barely barely a step above fast food joints like McDonald's. The prices do not justify the quality of the ingredients and cooking execution. Waitress was good. Beer on tap wasn't cold enough. Place looks nice. Chair is uncomfortable. Bar is nice. Good amount of craft beers although i wish they had more Jersey beers. I got an American burger with bacon. It was delicious. A bit messy but thats fine. Fries were good. Didn't care for the special sauce but fine for dipping. I asked about the elk burgers, venison, duck and unfortunately they will not sell them anymore. The overall taste and presentation of the food was a 3.5/5. It is not the most amazing burger but it was still good. This is a good spot in downtown Ridgewood for a simple, quick meal. They have good options for vegetarians and the food is good quality. They can take big groups if you have a lot in your party however they do not take any type of reservations no matter your size. read more

Have had other vegan burgers at other establishments before and I would skip this place. I had the Duchess Burger here. It was just okay, lacking in flavor. For $14 it's not worth it. Bread bun was dry. Garlic aioli did not do anything for my burger. Also had the West Side fries for the table. It's supposed to come with buffalo sauce and blue cheese. Ours came mostly with buffalo sauce and hardly any blue cheese, so I asked the server for extra blue cheese on the side. The menu showed $6 for cocktails and was charged $12 each for a Bellini and a Mimosa. I asked the server about it and she said I saw the Happy Hour prices. I feel they skimp on ingredients when they can do that's disappointing. Friendly service though so I appreciated that. Would not go back nor would I recommend it. Two thumbs down. read more

The food is still consistent and good, and for the most part the service is fine, if a little diminished in quality, but the thing that was disappointing recently is that we arrived at 9:30pm only to be turned away, tho the listings all still show 10pm, and we've gone there previously much closer to the closing and got food without any problem. It would have been better if the person turning us away explained that they had to close early (or whatever), but they were a little rude and treated us like we were in the wrong for expecting service during hours they listed as open. Food could have been good but I ordered delivery. The delivery location is about a two minute drive from the restaurant. Burgers and all sides arrived cold. The fries were soggy and had that flavor as if they've been sitting in the fridge overnight. It was honestly embarrassing. Took about 1.5 hours to receive order. If you are going to offer a delivery service, do better than this. I ordered over 80 dollars of food and who knows, it might have been amazing. But no one in my party enjoyed it because it was cold. Not lukewarm but actually cold. Unfortunately experience was so poor I won't take anymore chances on this place. read more
