Solid diner in the heart of the Ridgewood Central Business District. For the longest time, we didn't think a legit diner actually existed in Ridgewood, until some friends whom we dined with told us about the Daily Treat. After a long kids play date at nearby Wild Duck pond, we decided to drop in on a Saturday afternoon at 12:20ish and there were plennnnttty of open tables and seats when we arrived. Although the restaurant doesn't say diner anywhere, the menu is as classic diner as it gets. There's a heavy emphasis on the all-day breakfast menu, but they serve your typical salads, paninis, wraps, triple decker sammies, burgers and hodgepodge of entrees. On our 1st trip here, we ended up getting our kids the kids mac and cheese and kids pancakes. Although I didn't try much of it, I took a few taste test bites, which were decent. Nothing about it blew me away, but it was what it was. As for my wife, she ordered the Shrimp, Avocado, Roasted Corn Salad and she thoroughly enjoyed it, but, once again, I didn't really have at it, so can't give an honest review on it. As for me, I got an Omelette with Home Fries and Toast during our 1st meal here. The reason I don't specify it is because my omelette ended up getting swapped with a friend of ours. This was no fault of the restaurant's though as our friend claimed my omelette without confirming it was the right order, which ended up leaving me with his omelette. Bottom line, the omelette I ended up eating was still solid. I probably would have enjoyed it more though if I got the order I was anticipating, but, nevertheless, it was still good. Our waiter was friendly and handled our orders like a champ. In fact, he kept separate bills for us on the side just in case we wanted to split the bill, which we did! So job well done by him. There is NO DOUBT we'll be back now that we're aware an actual diner is located in Ridgewood since we 1) love going to Ridgewood to eat and (2) we absolutely loveeee diners. read more

I would never eat here again. If a diner-type place serves a lousy BLT in tomato season in NJ-due to super mushy tomatoes-forget about it. Looked good. Not good. Grilled cheeses for others, ok. French fries, ok. Smell of tomato sauce with pasta for a child, terrible. Nice looking interior, but I expect decent food and smells in Ridgewood and throughout NJ. Some of the servers were ok. I had dinner at the Daily Treat with a friend on a Friday evening! There was plenty of street parking nearby and a lot of available seating within the restaurant. The menu was cutely designed and the specials were interestingly handwritten. My friend got the fried egg sandwich with Taylor ham and I got the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. I thought the inclusion of broccoli with the eggs benedict was a bit strange, but otherwise, I enjoyed my meal and the portion size was large. At the end of the meal, you pay by walking up to the front counter and we had to wait a bit since the group before us was having trouble with payment. I haven't been to daily treat in well over a decade and im glad to say they haven't lost their touch. My wife and I had lunch here before seeing a movie across the street. Portions were plentiful and the fried chicken was cooked to perfection. My French fries were cooked perfectly to my liking (well done). I had a choice of side salad or soup w my meal and I went w the salad and house dressing (def recommend this dressing). My wife's chicken souvlaki again was plentiful and the chicken was over cooked and she too got perfectly cooked fries to her liking (well done). We both had unsweetened iced teas which the staff always made sure they were full. I'd like to also mention that this place has been owned by the same family as when I came as a child which is becoming a rarer thing these days. Ridgewood is very accommodating with outdoor seating so since it was a nice enough day we sat outside and it was just a lovely ambiance to have fresh air while eating. I used to go here when I was younger with friends and I loved the onion rings and mozzarella sticks. I went for breakfast a month ago and got the eggs Benedict. The hash browns tasted like cheesesteak which wasn't expected. I'm not sure if they cooked a cheesesteak on the frill beforehand but they did not taste good. The Hollandaise sauce color was very off and it wasn't flavorful at all. The broccoli on the plate was an odd touch for a breakfast item and it was an incredibly hard piece of broccoli. I couldn't finish this because it really was not appetizing. I've never really had "bad breakfast" food but this definitely was not good. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because my waitress was very kind. Definitely was a disappointing meal. read more

My husband and I have lived in the area for many years now and never knew of this place until a few months ago. We've been coming back here almost every weekend since! First of all, they have a LOT of realestate so for family's with kids or if you want to do big brunch out, you can all fit and not feel like Ridgewood sardines like a lot of other places around. Additionally, the ambiance is classic town diner vibe with the addition of always, every single time, being super super crystal clean. The staff here is also a vibe. The older wait staff and owners have the mega benefit of many years under the belt and know how to run a well oiled machine. Its got that classic old town feel, leaving you feeling very well taken care of, a family feel to it for sure. Last but CERTAINLY not least, THE FRIGGIN FOOD AND MENU. They have all your every day staples but also have really unique options that I can't wait to get through them all. You'd swear, grandmas in the back sharing all her recipe secrets! I came here with Boo Boo for breakfast. We initially wanted to dine in at Sook but they were jammed packed. And there was also a wait at Raymond's and country pancake house across the street. We never dined here before so we gave it a try and I'm glad we did. There was a short wait for a table but we were able to sit at the counter. We got our OJ and coffee before we put in our omelette and french toast order. Boo Boo got the onion, mushroom, and mozz cheese omelette and a side of sausage, which came with your choice of toast and home fries. And I got the walnut and banana french toast. Both places are quite kid friendly and are just little nice neighborhood diners. The differences being: Better service here. Better quality food here. (Obviously) smaller portions here. More seating room Room outside Less loud. The people who like to eat here won't care about this review and you guys probably shouldn't care about this either. It's a general NJ diner. The burgers/eggs/everything else are fine, as fine as anyone in this state or NYC should feel. I've never had a good experience at this restaurant. I was in a hurry and drank my coffee with the milk they gave me, and when I asked for more milk I poured it in. Looking at my coffee I immediately noticed that it formed thin clumps and the stench was horrible. Thirty minutes later got really bad stomach cramps and aches. Their New Yorker omelet was so bland I had to put hot sauce and ketchup. Their toast was not even warm. Never going back again. read more

To much cheese, wet wilted lettuce, and no Russian dressing like advertised on the menu. My boyfriend got the "Philly cheesesteak." I put it in quotes because it's definitely not a Philly cheesesteak. More like slices of meat with too thick onions and slabs of American cheese that weren't even melted. See for yourself. Enjoyed lunch here just a few days ago and had a nice experience. It was crowded since school was out and it was a rainy day, but the service was friendly and very accommodating with my toddler and rain soaked stroller. Portions are generous and the menu offers a ton of options. Bathroom could have been tidier, but again, it was a gross rainy day and it was pretty crowded. A sub par experience for Ridgewood. This is your typical diner, with prices lower than the neighboring Raymond's. I had the chicken gyro, and it was a huge, bland disappointment. The fries were not crispy or seasoned. I ended up only eating half my food. My friends had the buffalo chicken wrap and the grilled chicken wrap with a lemon basil vinaigrette. Neither of them truly enjoyed their meals, but my friend did say that the chicken in the buffalo chicken wrap was very good. The mozzarella sticks were decent, as I would assume most of the appetizers on the menu would be. The atmosphere is dry and a little old fashioned, but the wait staff is superb! They have handwritten, daily specials, and the menu has a wide variety. There's all day breakfast on the back of the menu, and I wouldn't hesitate to try that since it is a diner. Overpriced cold bland food. Had the Huevos Rancheros. Instead of chili sauce or salsa, they used what tasted exactly like minestrone soup thanks to the wrong seasonings and celery or they literally used minestrone soup minus the pasta, and all of this poured over a corn tortilla that was basically corn mush because the cooks are clueless. The 3 egg omelet as well as the Huevos Rancheros come with shredded hash browns which consist of an undercooked shredded tasteless mess of what is supposed to be potato. These people simply cannot cook. Hire competent workers and staff if you're gonna charge these prices. They must pick these workers up off the streets and pay them a pittance. I guess that's the new trend in restaurants and other service places now and explains why nearly everything everywhere has gone downhill. Slow service when the place was practically empty so coffee refills are hard to come by even though you pay nearly 3 dollars for what is a few sips of coffee in their tiny coffee cups. I visit this place for late lunch today around 3:30, and I seat at the bar. I chose Chicken soup instead of salad, and it was fresh and nicely cooked. Delicious. Carbonara fettuccine pasta was also fresh. The pasta noodle was slightly over cooked, but the sauce and spinach were so good and fresh taste. The portion of pasta is so huge. I'm proud my self that I'm huge eater but this pasta makes me feel sad. I left almost half of the pasta.. Y.y Friendly employees and owner. Kindful services. Organized menu also makes feel fresh than other diner style restaurants. Iced coffee was also good and it seems are not leftovers for few days which other restaurants usually do. Its a solid place if your looking for quality simple food. I recommend the pancakes, highly recommend the cheese fries, grilled veggie wrap, and veggie burger. Choices of a diner; elegance of a five star restaurant! My wife and I wanted to eat out and stroll afterwards on a village street... it was warm and sunny, with a mild cool breeze... We headed to the historic downtown of Ridgewood, NJ. We immediately noticed how the streets were almost empty of cars, so much that you can find parking everywhere. After a 10 minute walk we decided to eat at a Greek restaurant called Daily Treat! The special menus was neatly hand written in cursive, describing home made dishes that make you salivate, so we walked in and we remembered how last summer we ate here, and were seated outside. It was still too cold for that. My wife ordered a salad with grilled chicken on top. I was in the mood for linguine, and fish. The waitress couldn't help me, so The owner came over and offered to get me exactly what I wanted- it wasn't on the menu per se. a generous serving of linguine with tomatoes, garlic, Kalamata olives. A generous portion of Scrod Almondine (see photos) It came with a salad and bread and butter. Both, my wife and I enjoyed the taste and presentation. I was treated very badly by the manager? /owner. The waiter was unable to understand my simple order (nachos with chili on the side, Diet Coke no ice, coffee with milk. The mgr/owner came to clarify- I said the same. Diet Coke came with ice, coffee never came, nachos came smothered in chili with all other ingredients in little side bowls. No cheese on the taco chips. I asked for the mgr to ask what was going on? He was gruff but said he would redo it. He was holding the bowl. Then he pointed to a speck of cheese underneath a mound of chips and said ,get out of here. You are always a problem. I'm not serving you anything. Note: I have eaten at this restaurant 3 times in 5 years. I do not live nearby. There has never been any incident whatsoever. In the past, I ordered, ate, paid and left, period. I wondered if he was confusing me with someone else? Or else there is something very wrong with him (benefit of the doubt) or he is just mean and crazy. It was 3 pm. The restaurant was empty. We went to breakfast on a Sunday morning and every place was busy. This place was empty and we quickly found out why. I had dined here before several times but not in about 5 or more years. It has changed. The people are crabby when being seated. The coffee, should not even be called coffee, it was colored water, horrible. My daughter ordered Mac and cheese which came in a white, pasty sauce with a tiny bit of cheese on top. It was absolutely tasteless. It was salt free, flavor free, hard macaroni and it was NOT Mac and cheese. My omelette had a tiny bit of cheese and was also tasteless. The shredded potatoes were tasteless as well. No seasoning, just shredded potatoes. Nothing we ordered could be eaten. We were quite upset, we said something to the man that seated us and he said "no one ever said anything bad before". We ended up leaving and going somewhere else in town. What a waste of time parking, waiting for garbage food in an upscale town. It's amazing this place is still around.
