BLT with avocado and mushy tomatoes
    Van V.

I would never eat here again. If a diner-type place serves a lousy BLT in tomato season in NJ-due to super mushy tomatoes-forget about it. Looked good. Not good. Grilled cheeses for others, ok. French fries, ok. Smell of tomato sauce with pasta for a child, terrible. Nice looking interior, but I expect decent food and smells in Ridgewood and throughout NJ. Some of the servers were ok. But I go out to eat with friends and family for food that tastes good. Not so here.

I had dinner at the Daily Treat with a friend on a Friday evening! There was plenty of street parking nearby and a lot of available seating within the restaurant. The menu was cutely designed and the specials were interestingly handwritten. My friend got the fried egg sandwich with Taylor ham and I got the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. I thought the inclusion of broccoli with the eggs benedict was a bit strange, but otherwise, I enjoyed my meal and the portion size was large. At the end of the meal, you pay by walking up to the front counter and we had to wait a bit since the group before us was having trouble with payment. Overall, this diner-like restaurant was pretty good and I would come back here again!

Went to The Daily Treat for breakfast and had an enjoyable meal. The restaurant is not small, clean, and the service was quick/accurate. I ordered the Western Omelet, with grated potatoes, wheat toast, and everything was good. The omelet was fresh, thick, and the wheat toast had the perfect amount of butter. I would definitely return to the Daily Treat Restaurant and am certain, that you'll have a pleasant meal.

I haven't been to daily treat in well over a decade and im glad to say they haven't lost their touch. My wife and I had lunch here before seeing a movie across the street. Portions were plentiful and the fried chicken was cooked to perfection. My French fries were cooked perfectly to my liking (well done). I had a choice of side salad or soup w my meal and I went w the salad and house dressing (def recommend this dressing). My wife's chicken souvlaki again was plentiful and the chicken was over cooked and she too got perfectly cooked fries to her liking (well done). We both had unsweetened iced teas which the staff always made sure they were full. I'd like to also mention that this place has been owned by the same family as when I came as a child which is becoming a rarer thing these days. Ridgewood is very accommodating with outdoor seating so since it was a nice enough day we sat outside and it was just a lovely ambiance to have fresh air while eating. Will def be back soon.

This place has been a constant since I was a child. No one's chicken fingers and honey mustard hold a candle to Daily Treats! Their breakfast with home fries is the best too!

This is a typical diner. The service was very fast and the ambiance wasn't anything to write home about but the price and the quality was fine so it checked all my boxes. Overall I would come back here if I needed a quick meal in a pinch!

I used to go here when I was younger with friends and I loved the onion rings and mozzarella sticks. I went for breakfast a month ago and got the eggs Benedict. The hash browns tasted like cheesesteak which wasn't expected. I'm not sure if they cooked a cheesesteak on the frill beforehand but they did not taste good. The Hollandaise sauce color was very off and it wasn't flavorful at all. The broccoli on the plate was an odd touch for a breakfast item and it was an incredibly hard piece of broccoli. I couldn't finish this because it really was not appetizing. I've never really had "bad breakfast" food but this definitely was not good. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because my waitress was very kind. Definitely was a disappointing meal.

My husband and I have lived in the area for many years now and never knew of this place until a few months ago. We've been coming back here almost every weekend since! First of all, they have a LOT of realestate so for family's with kids or if you want to do big brunch out, you can all fit and not feel like Ridgewood sardines like a lot of other places around. Additionally, the ambiance is classic town diner vibe with the addition of always, every single time, being super super crystal clean. The staff here is also a vibe. The older wait staff and owners have the mega benefit of many years under the belt and know how to run a well oiled machine. Its got that classic old town feel, leaving you feeling very well taken care of, a family feel to it for sure. Last but CERTAINLY not least, THE FRIGGIN FOOD AND MENU. They have all your every day staples but also have really unique options that I can't wait to get through them all. You'd swear, grandmas in the back sharing all her recipe secrets! Anyway, let em know bstic sent ya. I'm sure you'll see me in the back stuffing my face.

Went here for a Sunday breakfast during the ridgewood fall street fair food is average- decent service not a bad experience but not nothing crazy special. Pros: not too busy seated quickly Outdoor seating available Decent service Diner quality food Cons: Pass on the apple juice it's water downed concentrate Ask for the hash browns (breakfast) WELL-DONE.. mine were on the border of fully cooked kinda soggy lacking any texture.

I came here with Boo Boo for breakfast. We initially wanted to dine in at Sook but they were jammed packed. And there was also a wait at Raymond's and country pancake house across the street. We never dined here before so we gave it a try and I'm glad we did. There was a short wait for a table but we were able to sit at the counter. We got our OJ and coffee before we put in our omelette and french toast order. Boo Boo got the onion, mushroom, and mozz cheese omelette and a side of sausage, which came with your choice of toast and home fries. And I got the walnut and banana french toast. Boo Boo expected the food to look nicer but she enjoyed how it tasted. It's nice that this place kept up with the times and have the fancy white touchy order and billing thing. I'd come here over the other two over priced places nearby.

Ever hear of a chicken with absolutely no wing?…read more Matthews Diner actually served one on a take-out order the other night, along with a chicken (as part of its "Baked Half-Chicken" entree) that was so dried out, charred and overcooked, tasteless, and tough to chew that it may well have been cooked on a previous day! Whenever it was cooked and/or reheated, it certainly was not fresh--and should never have been served to any customer...let alone, in our case, to an elderly woman who can no longer get to the restaurant due to mobility issues, but was so looking forward to a quality meal! Instead, she was given garbage from Matthews Diner--literally--that obviously could not be eaten. As for the missing wing, we can only assume that it was so burnt and charred in appearance that the cook, chef or whatever the person in Matthews kitchen can possibly be called decided to hack it off before it could be seen....and then put the remnants of the inedible chicken into the packaging for us to unknowingly purchase! Beyond the defrauding of a wonderful, elderly woman and longtime, now-former customer, does this restaurant have no shame? But the miserable treatment wasn't finished yet, as the reaction from owner/manager "Sam" when reached on the phone was that it was basically our tough luck! According to Sam--who offered no make-good or refund--we had the responsibility to open the packaged, wrapped up dinner tin and check what was in there thoroughly before we bought the meal (really?)--as opposed to trusting the diner to check its own food and have quality standards! Sam then insulted my elderly mother (the senior-aged customer for whom the meal was purchased), and, before hanging up, said "Don't come here again!" Bud, you can rest assured that nobody in our family ever will.

We arrived a little after 9pm. The service of the young server was perfect. He was prompt, polite and attentive to our needs. The food was as good as you can get at a highway diner. We got what we expected and enjoyed it. Desert, however, is another story. D is allergic to anything that contains caffeine. That means no coffee, tea, certain pain medications and NO CHOCOLATE. She asked me to go to the display counter and see what kind of cheesecake there was. There were many different kinds: mango, orange, caramel, banana and more. Unfortunately, this diner's idea of garnishing a desert is with a creme topping loaded with CHOCOLATE STICKS, CHIPS, AND COOKIES! (see attached photo) EVEN THE DESERT LABLED VANILLA CAKE WAS FESTOONED WITH CHOCOLATE HOO-HAH! When I mentioned this to the management, I was told, "Well, we have rice pudding and baklava." No matter how I worded it, he just couldn't seem to comprehend that a good 90+% of his deserts had chocolate which was discriminatory against people who are allergic to chocolate. I even tried to put it in another reality for him. I asked if their baker made anything with peanut or peanut butter. He replied in the affirmative. I asked if they had a special preparation area so that there were safe deserts for a child with a peanut allergy. He didn't seem to understand the premise. So, if you, or your child have ANY food allergies, I strongly suggest that you avoid the Suburban Diner at all costs. We will be doing so in the future.

Needless to say, everything took forever after that, including getting the check. We were in the diner for about an hour and a half. Everyone understands restaurants can be busy on Mother's Day, but it wasn't busy when we got there, and even when places are busy, no one should be spending an hour and a half in a diner for breakfast. What's disappointing is that this is actually the second time we've been there since the renovation, and unfortunately we had the same experience with the service both times. From now on, we'll gladly take the extra 20-minute ride to the River Edge Diner in River Edge. The service, food, and staff there are excellent, and you actually feel welcome and happy to be there.
