The food was excellent. I had the chips with verde, Roja, and guacamole. I had the cauliflower taco which was delightful, the chili lime shrimp was a bit overcooked, the shrimp was chewy. We came on a Friday night and were told it was a 20 min wait for a table, which was no problem. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for a table to open up. Luckily, we got some seats at the bar in the meantime when they cleared up. The drinks were flavorful and had a kick. I loved the guava margarita. I would recommend 3-4 tacos per person as you probably can get 2-3 bites out of each taco. The food itself was decent with some good flavors. A little light on the meat though. The only qualm I had was I didn't get one of the tacos I ordered and asked for a refill on chips and it took forever to get despite asking multiple times (the place wasn't that busy). I love bartaco! The portions are small and the prices are a bit expensive, but I keep coming back because the food is so good. My favorite taco is the pork belly ($3.95) -- braised pork belly caramelized in a sweet arbol chile glaze, topped with cilantro and pickled red onions. It's a crowd pleaser! I also really like the sesame ribeye taco ($3.95) -- ribeye beef marinated in a sweet sesame-soy sauce, topped with spicy kimchi and cilantro. Finally, an honorable mention goes to the chorizo taco ($2.95) -- Argentinian style spiced and seared ground pork finished with sweet onion, fresh cilantro and a smoky red chimichurri sauce. Besides tacos, their ceviche ($9.50) is great -- shrimp and cod tossed with fresh chiles, diced tomato and avocado in a bright citrus marinade, topped with cilantro, red onion and cayenne. But the one thing you must try (other than the pork belly tacos) is the tres leches dessert ($7) -- vanilla sponge cake soaked in three milks, topped with whipped cream, caramel sauce and toasted coconut. Please don't judge me as I ate bartaco twice within the same week...NY and Connecticut here I come (or came)!! Always concerned when I try a new location but no worries here LOVE LOVE LOVE this location. Everything tasted the same as in NY! Of course tacos (as always) flavorful...I always get pork belly (my favorite), any of the seafood options, and today I tried the mushroom taco. I was actually surprised that the seasoning of the mushrooms went very well with verde salsa that is table side. Would definitely order again. My friend tried the chicken tortilla soup (yes, I took a spoonful) and it is flavorful, loaded with chicken and cheese, and the tortillas help provide texture. Now let's chat about the red and verde salsas...purchase the trio (both salsas + guacamole) so you can try it all! For those that do not have a high spice level; the red salsa had a kick (that's your warning) but it is soooo good! A must try is adding some of this salsa on your tacos YUMMY!!! Unless there is a back room with additional seating this location is not extremely big so make sure to download the bartaco app and/or go online and add yourself to the waitlist to reduce your wait time. This place is great. I was in town for work and luckily found it on google maps and wanted to give it a try. It is busy, but the staff makes you feel totally welcome and at ease. The vibes are SO good. It was my first time here and they spent time explaining the menu and how everything worked. I enjoyed myself so much- I made a point to return once again before I left town. (Both times I sat at the bar. Kudos to the team. A+ for them ALL!) Had a chance to speak with The GM. He is super kind and has great energy. Spicy margs. Incredible. Lobster Ceviche was amazing. Beverages, alcoholic and not, are all really good too. I love their pomegranate limonada. Service is fast and servers are super helpful when you put up the card for assistance. You order and pay on your phone so it's a super easy transaction. At night it gets packed. You'll most likely have to wait for a table, but you may be lucky with bar seats. I went to bartaco in Stamford several years ago and it was fresh, flavorful, and delicious! This week I had them cater a business lunch and holy crap! The salt!! Guys, what happened? Is this what happens when a restaurant gets bought up by a large restaurant group? Seriously, everything in our order was way too salty. Vinegar was overused as well. Each sauce/condiment was super vinegary. I hope the restaurant remembers that there are more ways to flavor food than salt and vinegar! I must say though, the only thing that wasn't salty was the guac. Which wasn't guac at all, just mashed avocado. No peppers, cilantro, onion, tomatoes!! I've been at different Bartaco locations previously (Por Chester, NY, West Hartford, CT) and this is the first time trying the glazed pork belly taco (recommended by a friend). Definitely recommended. The Spicy Chorizo Taco & Chicken Tacos are tasty. Drinks: the Pineapple Express was good and a friend usual drink is the Pomegranate Mojito, mentioned it's good. They have great service they are very nice and they don't take too long to order your food. The fish was good, and the chicken was well chicken. I tried all 3 sauces they have, and all were good in their own way. The cucumber salad was good. I don't know if I would call it spicy, though. For some reason my original review was deleted ... The last 2 times we ordered were subpar, but we liked this place so much we kept trying. Unfortunately tonight was enough for them to lose regular customers. We paid $2 extra for the lettuce pictured below, that are about the size of large spinach leaves. The carnitas were dry and cold and had big chunks of fat . The onions and cilantro were wilted and not fresh. In the last few times I ordered they have skipped out on the regular hot sauces and lemon slices. There seems to be bo quality control and a lot of cutting corners despite the price increase. read more
