We have been lucky and at the time we arrive it wasn't busy. We went here on a Saturday at noon for some weekend brunch. We have been greatest nice and friendly and seated real fast. Unfortunately the place does not allow for some out seating but the inside is pretty comfy. The menu is almost overwhelming. For brunch time I would rather have restricted offers but that's just me lol. So we went full ballistic and I had a minestrone soup, half a "summer salad" with homemade ranch dressing and the teriyaki chicken sandwich. Well I can say I have not left hungry. My hubbby had the provincial scramble with lox. First all servings had a good size. My salad was just perfect and the ranch dressing one of the best I ever had. For being a "summer" salad I was missing some fruits or anything that made it summerly, but hands down it was a good fresh green salad mix with carrot and some tomatoes. The soup in my opinion was to much based on a tomato base then on a veggie broth it had plenty of ingredients but tasted a bit burned. The sandwich was good and really a mouthful. The teriyaki sauce was ok, I had better but it was ok. The chicken was juicy and tender. When I ordered a whole weed bread instead of the regular white dust roll I expected a slice of bread and I was happy that they offer whole weed bread. But the chef and owner came to our table and asks me If I want to have the sandwich on slices of whole weed or on a whole weed roll! Wow. I have gone for the roll. I was really surprised that they over that many option great! The roll itself was more of these American standard rolls more soggy then crispy but that not the fault of the chef since it is hard to get good German rolls around here. So it would be unfair to compare that. So I am impressed that they even consider and have that option. Hubbys scrambles was made to perfection and came with a good amount of bread and house potatoes. They offer at this time two versions of iced tea one just the standard black and an blueberry unsweetened ice tea. I - of course got the later - and it was a really good tea! Dietmar had a couple of Mimosas and when the bill came we have been shocked that they charge $11 for a small glass of mimosa. We know we are in Marin but at other places we pay up to 6, 7 maybe $8 bucks but 11 is an all time high for a small Glas. So carefully read and check the prices before you order (we. normally don't that is why it got us in the end :). So overall this is a good spot for brunch since they have this big menu everyone will find something on it. The owner is always checking if everything is ok and it seems he really care. One star goes away for the high price on mimosa compared to other local spots and mediocre soup. read more

Have noticed a difference in customer service since my first review. Wonderfully attentive server and delicious breakfast. I have had on several occasions the almond pear pancake- delicious and a scrambled egg. Serving was plentiful. My hub enjoyed a combination breakfast with eggs, sausages, country potatoes and a homemade scone with lemon curd. Delicious. Time to try something other than breakfast as they have an extensive menu for lunch and dinner. Everything seemed cleaner and inviting. read more

Great brunch spot. It can be hard to find a good veggie sandwich and we liked both the eggplant sandwich and the portobello mushroom sandwich. The kids are pancake and waffle connoisseurs and they were impressed by the selection of different kinds of pancakes and waffles. Barefoot Cafe is a welcomed addition to Fairfax. The atmosphere is semi casual, with a definite slant towards the feel of Tuscany, with the dark Mustard painted walls and Espresso stained tables and chairs, is cozy and comfortable. It can get a bit crowded and sometimes noisy, but now during COVID, they have outdoor seating on the side so if you prefer sitting outside, there is that option. It has been a while since I have eaten there but I have had Breakfast, Brunch and Dinner there and I was never disappointed. I remember the service being excellent too. Kind place seems to be very local friendly! I thought the food was cooked very clean and had a good basic flavor to it. I am normally not a scone girl however these were fresh baked and the lemon curd it is served with would make anything taste yummy!! I even dipped my fruit in it!! Had the Penne with sausage last weekend, was ridiculously good! The tomato sauce was /particularly/ well done. Also can't go wrong with their spaghetti and meatballs.. not to mention their steak is amazing. Ask for the goat cheese butter with it too, wish I could buy it in store. My friend and I had gotten out of class early and we're looking for a good breakfast spot. Initially we had our minds set for The Hummingbird because of their beignets. However, when we got there it was closed. So thanks to Yelp we searched for another walking distance breakfast cafe. Luckily we found Barefoot Cafe. I have to say thank God The Hummingbird was closed or else we would have never discovered this awesome place! The ambiance is perfect: no loud noise and it was a warm environment. The space from table to table was a little tight but it was nothing major to prevent me from enjoying my food. Food we ordered: -Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. It wasn't on the menu; however, I saw it was here on Yelp and I thought I'd give it a try. It was amazing! The yolk of the egg did not overpower the taste of the crab -Mickey Mouse Pancake: It's good, but I am not a big fan of pancakes. -Florentine Omelette: My friend said it was best omelette he's ever tasted even if it was predominantly spinach inside. Food was delightful and the outside ambiance was stellar. But the most stunning was the service. If our waiter Ty (praying I spelled that right) was paid a dollar for every ounce of delight that he gave us, he would be a millionaire. An absolute joy to joke around with and with such kindness as well. OK food but EXTREMELY slow service. They need major help training their servers and maybe the kitchen with better workflow. Seated 150pm, got our order in 225pm (this is after we repeatedly asked for the server). Food didn't come out until after 3pm. At that point we r so frustrated we asked for the check immediately. In covid times with fewer staffing maybe they should look into training their staff to work more efficiently and not do only one thing at a time (they legit come to a table, do ONE small thing, then come back after 5 minutes, do another ONE small thing). Also, the server doesn't take orders in the order that the customers are seated, creating lots of frustrated diners. A bunch of tables next to us all are complaining as well so we aren't the a-holes if that's what you're wondering. Or better yet, just let customers order at the table and pay directly w/ QR code and use that server money on more back kitchen staff. read more

My husband and I were passing through and decided to pop in for lunch as we saw they had outdoor seating and a good yelp rating. Oy, where to start... The owner seemed to be running this operation single-handed. He's trying to host, serve and manage and it's not working out well. Times are tough with COVID, we understand. However, the execution is poor. He is running around with NO mask and handling food. Condiments are still be served in their greasy containers, not in ramekins or single-serve packets which would have been 100x more hygienic. There was also a sheet pan of cake sitting out, uncovered and half cut up right outside the bathroom. During this time, sanitation and precautionary measures should be the ultimate priority. His restaurant is definitely not following code. Now let's talk about the food. We got the turkey bacon sandwich and the blt. The turkey sandwich was served on stale old bread which we ended up not eating. The turkey itself tasted cheap and processed. It was served with a side salad with blue cheese dressing. It was your average store bought salad mix. The dressing tasted more like a creamy garlic? No blue cheese in sight. We didn't eat it. The blt should have just been called a tomato sandwich. There were like 2 strips of bacon? Honestly the best part of this meal were the fries. Which I am sure came from a frozen bag. The icing on the cake was waiting for 15 minutes for the owner/server to come back to our table so we could pay. Instead, we had to hunt him down to find him inside staring out the window. These 2 sandwiches were definitely not worth the $34 price tag. Needless to say, if we ever pass through Fairfax again we will give this place a pass. read more

Came here for Mother's Day brunch. We were quickly seated especially for Mother's day. My wife had been here before after hiking around the area and recommended that we come here, so since it was mother's day, here we were. The service was quick, the staff quickly came by and got drink orders and our actual orders shortly after. I had the cornbeef hash benedict, and it was heavenly. The cornbeef was done just right, grilled to perfection, crispy, peppery, and juicy all at the same time. The eggs, sauce and the English muffin finished it off just right. I don't think I will order anything else if I get a chance to stop by here again. The little person ordered a Mickey Mouse shape pancake and pretty much ate off my plate, so no comment on the pancakes. It looked pretty good. read more
