A disclaimer on this review, I didn't have any coffee! Just a sandwich and a cookie. I love this place for a few reasons: - plenty of seating compared to many coffee shops - lots of food options in addition to coffee - air conditioning!!! - super friendly service I had such a lovely experience here grabbing lunch to go. I had my newborn with me and couldn't stay but was looking for something quick and easy to take with me. The seasonal pesto sandwich was 5/5 - I love pesto so this was an easy win for me! The pesto was creamy, baguette was perfectly crispy and it overall hit the spot. I ordered it with a side salad but they accidentally gave me chips, so they gave me both :) Glad I could try both options - was glad to get my greens in AND some chips! They also had a gigantic cookie in the window and I decided on a whim it would be a lovely treat. The cashier also agreed that it was AMAZING and she wasn't wrong - it was just as good as it looked! I came here for coffee this morning after finishing a workout class nearby. My husband and I were on a work trip and he had previously been to Barefoot and liked the coffee so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered a flat white with almond milk and the coffee was unbelievably bad. It tasted as if they had dumped milk in a cup of drip coffee. The coffee was also full of bubbles. I had to throw out the coffee after taking one sip. Will not be back and will not recommend. read more

I'll start with the bad. So super $$$$$! I got a Vanillatte and a gluten free avocado toast with Turkey bacon. I spent $21 including tax and tip. Holy bonkers that pricey and the only reason this place didn't get a 5 star review. The latte was delicious and the oat milk was the perfect creamy touch. The avocado toast was also perfect with good quality gf bread (a little soggy in the middle) with cherry tomatoes, sprouts and pumpkin seeds. The Turkey bacon was the perfect topper. Service is terrible and their drinks are subpar to say the least. The short blonde guy that works there got his panties in a bunch because I asked him to add more sweetener to my latte. Great study spot tucked away into Solana Beach's famous street, Cedros. This place is relatively crowded on weekends but a good spot to get work done on weekdays. They have an interesting menu with specialty drinks and various food options. I've never tried the food but have tried their Cortado and Lattes. Both are good. This is one of my favorite coffee shops to visit on days when the remote office in my home just isn't cutting it. The coffee is great, and there is enough seating where I don't feel rushed (on a weekday). I usually get one of their flavored lattes. They have all been delicious and I look forward to working my way through the menu. It's an enter and order at the counter situation. They have menus on the wall when you enter which I love so I don't have to squint and try to read the menu behind the counter. Most of the seating is for 2 or 4 people. I think all the 2 person tables is why it's easier to get a seat here. The Wifi has been great. Weekday mornings it's peaceful with most people working solo. If you're planning on working remember coffee shop etiquette and be mindful if it looks like the shop is starting to get busier. Great place to grab a coffee and/or light bite, if you can find a table, that is! Popular spot in the Cedros District with plenty of outdoor seating and a few indoor. We were lucky enough to grab a table after ordering. I'm not a coffee drinker honestly, but happy I found something I really enjoyed. Lavender Matcha Latte was perfect. The lavender and matcha worked very well together and the lavender flavor wasn't overly strong or "perfume"-y as I call it. Over $6.50 for mine and $3 for my friend's Americano. I've been coming here regularly for the last 2 years. It used to be my favorite coffee shop because of the delicious coffee /specialty drinks, service, and mouth-wateringly good pastries. They're also dog-friendly and sometime have treats on hand. The last few times I've been, however, i like the service from the newer baristas haven't been great. They got my food order wrong and instead of apologizing, was defensive. Another recent time i ordered a gingerbread latte and it lasted like just syrup and lukewarm milk. This place has such a cool vibe and taste! My cousins and girlfriend all tried different things and enjoyed them. I love the unique flavors and the atmosphere of this place. The service was friendly and offered to remake any of the drinks if we didn't like them. I'm a casual fan of Barefoot. It's not my go-to spot, but there are plenty of positives that keep me coming back! Pros - Tons of seating inside and out! - Lots of breakfast and beverage items to fit your mood - Friendly staff - Beverages aren't too sweet! They really emphasize the espresso and not the sugar - Easy parking, even on a holiday weekend Cons - Cafe Cubano does NOT satisfy when you want a Cuban coffee. A Cafe Cubano is one of my all time favorite espresso beverages but Barefoot's falls flat. Lots of other great items, and their Cuban coffee isn't BAD, but it's not what I'm looking for. - Bathroom is outside, so when you're as awkward as I am it can be a pain to ask for a restroom key/where their restroom is, etc. - Line is long (not their fault! I totally get it!) Even though Barefoot isn't my favorite coffee shop, it's still a great spot, with tasty drinks and a comfy spot to work or chat with friends. read more

I really enjoyed my mocha borgia from here. This drink is essentially a mocha with a hint of orange flavor. You can have it hot or iced.. the cost is $5.15. I had it iced and it was fantastic. Not too sweet and the orange flavor complimented the chocolate so well. It comes in a decent sized cup, you have to ask for a straw. I came during covid 19, so it was a little different. During normal time there looks to be plenty of seating indoors and out. Lots of parking near by. My fiancé, pup, and I grabbed our drinks to go and walked along the dog beach (or at last what we had access to). Cedros is becoming a cool café mecca. But even in this hood, Barefoot is still great! I have to confess, I did not have a coffee drink! But I had a super delicious matcha latte, and the two baked goods we got were AWESOME. --strawberry croissant: oh, I wish I didn't like this so much. When it was warmed it was perfection. Luckily it was my friend's so I only had a bite and then had an excuse not to eat more --Big Island Baked Goods Island bar: SO good. I almost ordered a chocolate chip cookie b/c I thought this "healthier" packaged dessert (lots of almonds, gluten free) might be too boring and I wanted a sweet. But it was decadent, delicious, high protein, lo carb (with yummy dark chocolate and coconut too). YUM. I'd happily eat this over a yummy piece of cake any day, so good. They also have a liquor license! And have wine in the afternoon, happy hour 4-6. I usually hit up the coffee places more to the north on Cedros, very happy that I wandered down here because they're open later than some of the others. Yep, yep, great coffee and great baked goods is what I love about a coffee shop. Barefoot brings their experience from the bay area. I experienced both at this new coffee shop and eatery in Solana Beach on Cedros. I had the Pumpkin Pie Spiced Latte and and an almond croissant. The latte was well balanced. I knew it was pumpkin pie with that holiday spice, but none of the flavors were to over whelming. It smooth and rich with that perfect comfortable Autumn essence. I enjoyed it very much. Well done.However, things got even better once I bit into the almond croissant. The croissant, warmed, was decadent. It offered all the great textures and flavors of a great butter croissant, but also came loaded with with crispy almonds and stuffed with a terrific almond paste. The abundance of almonds offered a nice texture and added flavor. The almond concoctions inside was wondrous. The location is terrific. There's plenty of comfortable seating, and as I am writing this, an expansion of the menu is occurring offering more eats like avocado toast and such. read more

My friend got the Mexican Mocha and I got the Voodoo. I didn't get to try his, but I loved my coffee! It was a bit sweeter, so I think next time I would lessen the chocolate. This location has sooooo much seating. There is seating inside, outside, and a bar area. Free WiFi! It's a great place to study at or just to hang out. Staff friendly, I think their HUGE popularity was a little unexpected for them. Line out the door. Entrance was actually on the left side, not the side under their sign. This is pretty good coffee. They are in soft opening right now. Grand opening is September 28th. Coffee bags are $15 right now only, not sure what the full price is. Got the iced versions of the drinks below: Voodoo - chocolatey, big hit among friends Cubano - good I felt both were a little on the milky side, espresso could have been stronger/more pronounced. decided to go here in order to get some work done, and it was a really good spot! plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors, so we were easily able to find a seat. also have outlets and wifi which is a huge plus! i got an iced chai, and my friend got an iced caramel latte. iced chai - 5/5 tasted exactly how it should, a solid chai! i'd definitely get again. caramel latte - 3/5 it was ok! needed more caramel but if ur not into sweet drinks, you might like it! overall, i really liked the vibe of this cafe and would definitely recommend if you want a good spot to get some work done! -1 star solely because I found the chairs a little uncomfortable for my back. would definitely come here again, and would want to try some of the food since they have a lot of options! read more

Somehow I deleted all my photos of the inside of this beachy, open-air ambience that this location gave off BUT I still have a picture of my adorable son eating their vegan, gluten-free s'mores donut. So let's talk about that for a minute. I could give this place 5 stars just for offering vegan, gluten-free items but having the combination in one treat is such a winner. The coffee was great! I'm a black espresso drinker but I feel that espresso says a lot about a coffee shop- I mean it is the base to most drinks so it better be good. My husbands chai was perfect- neither too sweet nor too bland. This spot is a regular stop for us on the way to fletcher cove and you should absolutely add it to your stop as well.
