Selva is nestled inside a nursery, and it's such a refreshing place to relax among the plants, orchids, succulents, and beautiful flowers. They have a great selection of drinks, coffee, lattes, matcha, and more, as well as a few pastries. The seating is scattered throughout the nursery, with many tables tucked behind lush plants and hanging greenery, giving each area a bit of privacy instead of feeling crowded. We really enjoyed the calm, relaxing atmosphere. read more

3.5 Located in a nursery - perfect matching. Compared to the other location, this on had a more energetic vibe. I was there on a Sunday afternoon. There a DJ and the music was entertaining but loud - too loud to have a conversation in the coffee shop. And the red light disco bathroom was.... interesting. I'm really glad they opened a location up in North County. Parking is much easier here in my opinion than the location down south and I think there's a fair amount of seating. Drinks here are still packed full of fun flavors. I still think about their seasonal drink with guava (currently not on the menu right now) but I have not had any bad drinks at all. There's also a little active DJ set sometimes when my friends and I go which keeps it lively. read more

Selva is a hip and modern plant nursery, and coffee shop in one. The space is open, airy, and bright. I went on a Saturday and there was an in person DJ playing music. It had a fun and youthful vibe. I ordered the "Trust Fund Kid," with matcha and oat milk. The drink was yummy, not too sweat. The cold drinks come with small crushed ice. Very limited food options, mainly pastries, burritos, bagels, and fruit bowls. I saw some croissant sandwiches in the fridge near the self serve drink section. Not sure if those were menu items or if they make the menu items fresh from behind the counter. This would be a nice place for a first date, or friend meetup. Maybe one of the worst experiences I've had in a while. I had to awake from my hibernation as a Yelp reviewer for this one. I always love supporting small businesses, especially coffee shops. I was drawn in by influencers saying how good the coffee was and how I had to try the chorizo and potato burrito. So, I came in around 7:30 on a Saturday and went through their maze of a line to get to the register only to find two employees making orders, but nobody taking orders. I see a menu on the counter with a QR code to order ahead. Since nobody was taking orders, I figured sure, I can just order on my phone. Nope, the site the QR code took me to said they aren't currently taking orders. Ok, so back to trying to order in person. I was finally able to wave an employee over so I can order a coffee. After already looking annoyed that she has to take my order, she proceeds to tell me their espresso machine isn't working. I'm thinking, a coffee shop with no espresso? Great. I try to be understanding and I know things happen, so I figure, if I can't get a coffee, I can at least try the delicious chorizo and potato burrito that I saw on social media right? Nope. She tells me they don't have burritos until 10am. So, I can't get a coffee and can't get a burrito. What can I get? Instead of saying sorry for the inconvenience or recommending other options they DO have, the employee was unapologetically smug and had no recommendations for me. I said, ok why are you even open then? I left feeling like my time and my eagerness to support small businesses taken for granted. Ironically, I was able to get a pretty good Egg McMuffin at the McDonald's next door and an awesome triple espresso at the Starbucks across the street where they warmly welcomed me in and told me to have a good day as I walked out. Small business isn't always the best business. These companies are big for a reason. read more

I love how it's all so colorful & pink. I got the funny business in an iced matcha latte which was delicious. If you look for matcha, that actually taste like matcha instead of being too sweet, I definitely recommend this place. Tried this new coffee place today (Monday) for the first time since I was getting my tires rotated nearby at Discount Tires. It's inside the new Terra Bella Nursery which seems odd but it works. Tried the "Mothertrucker" iced, which was very good. Very sweet but I liked it. It's basically a Pistachio flavored espresso/milk drink. Also, tried the cheese danish, again very good, seemed fresh to me. They said it was baked that morning in San Diego, somewhere, but not on site. Quite expensive at about $14.00 total plus tax/tip but it seems like every place is raising prices lately. It was about 10:30 am and only one customer in front of me. They were fairly quick with two employees working. read more

I really like the creative names for all the drinks. I've tried the Okie Dokie, funky business, quick question, love bomb, and quenie and they were all really good but my personal favorite was the okie dokie because it's sweeter due to the mocha. Carina was very helpful in helping in telling me what's in each drink and she was very nice and energetic. The atmosphere was really unique, they have lots of cool things to but that aren't just drinks like little trinkets and cold food and drinks. Overall a really good spot for some fun coffee and matcha drinks and I will be back. read more

The music is killing me! It's like they are trying to combine too many things, vibe, plants, coffee. The coffee is okay, the order ahead is nice. The DJ they have makes it feel like you're at a rave, but it's 11 am and we're trying to pick out a nice plant. You can't think with the music. Matcha here is always great, and this location has much quieter music than the other Selva location so it's incredibly pleasant to walk around and look at plants with a fun coffee/matcha. FERAL for this coffee. I enjoy this Selva/Terra Bella a bit more than the Rosecrans one... its layout and vibes are better. I've always enjoyed the More Than Friends but tried the Love Bomb and BOY OH BOY it's delicious. They really know how to do creamy tops and flavorful espresso mixes. Back in 2019, Starbucks had a seasonal cherry mocha for Valentine's Day that I was obsessed with. Apparently I was the only one, because they haven't brought it back since. Cherry mochas are hard to come by, and I haven't really encountered another one. This one was delicious! The espresso was bold, the milk perfectly creamy, and the overall taste not too sweet (unlike Starbucks'). Wow!! I can already tell this will be a drink I daydream about. Unfortunately it was $7.50, which will prevent me from indulging very regularly. The rest of the menu is pricey too, with avocado toasts nearly reaching $20. (I may be a millennial, but I can certainly understand the negative stereotype when I see coffee shop prices like these.) Besides pricing, the other downside of this place is the limited seating. There were only 4 small outdoor tables, so unless you're with just one other person and you arrive before 10am, I'd suggest grabbing your coffee to go and taking a walk. My friend and I sat down, since there were open tables when we arrived. She enjoyed her iced honey cinnamon latte. If you love a cherry mocha or are looking for coffee in the design district, definitely come through!

With seating outside on both the ground level and up on the roof, it's a perfect spot to soak in some sun, breathe in the ocean air, and have a sip and a bite in this quiet part of town. The menu here is comprehensive with coffee (espresso, pour overs, cold brew), teas, specialty drinks, as well as breakfast and light bites to pair with a good start to the morning. We primarily came for a coffee run but a few of our team members decided to visit for breakfast the following day and from what I've heard, they're solid with the food! The staff were friendly and efficient. I was impressed how many of them they were able to fit behind the small work area but they were experienced and worked collectively as a team. The drinks were prepared quick and for those liking them hot, you will be pleased with the freshness of that first sip. Overall, Achilles Coffee is a perfect small batch roaster to visit while you're in San Diego to get a great cup of coffee, a breakfast to go with it, and some bags of single origin or blend to bring back home for your own brew. And if you're interested in trying them out before you visit or just looking to restock, consider checking out their website and order from there. They even have a sampler to try their in-season batches. I guess their only Achilles' heel is that there aren't more of them but with five spots all across San Diego county, at least a San Diegan (or visitor) can get a taste of the sweet nectar marketed under this Greek warrior's moniker.

There were quite a bit of people in there, so I'm sure it's great at times. Settling for the Vietnamese Iced Coffee as 1 of our 2 drinks, sadly it was mostly ice. The drink was done in a few sips. It felt like the cup was filled with ice and then put the coffee in. Don't get me wrong, the drink was good and the coffee was strong. The other drink was the Creme Brulee Latte. If you like the sugar un-bruleed, this is the drink for you. I saw the top was torched for a few seconds, but the drink was still in the tiny sugar crystals. The coffee part is also nice and strong, though the drink is not as sweet as it sounds. Overall, lack-luster and expensive for the $7.60 - Large.

Our friends all got the Persian flavors because they are Persian :) The ice cream is good enough, but because we had to eat it outside in the heat, it melted quickly and wasn't the most enjoyable experience overall. If you're hankering for Persian-specific flavors, then you will love this place, but we'd rather go back to the one in LA at some point for nostalgia's sake.
